First time First watcher. We came here for brunch on Sunday and it was great. I think we came at a perfect time, because even though there was a lot of people there the wait wasn't long. Stopped in today to check this place out, because it was early and I was very hungry. Lucky me...there was no wait so I was seated immediately. My first impression was that it was a nice open space, that it smelled like good food, and the people were friendly. So a good start for sure. The server brought a pot of coffee, and there were packets of flavored artificial cream at the table. I asked if they had espresso, and they didn't, so I settled for some drip coffee with some hazelnut international delight. Not my favorite, but the coffee was fresh and it worked out just fine. I kept it simple and ordered the biscuits and gravy, a side of bacon, and 2 eggs. Bacon and eggs are hard to make stand out, but these were just fine and were brought out promptly, along with the biscuit and gravy which turned out to be the highlight of the meal. The biscuit was obviously made in house by someone who really knows how to make biscuits, and the gravy was straight from your grandma's book of secret recipes. Very good stuff, especially considering that I kept it so simple. Next time I may try a smoothie, or something a bit more adventurous, as the menu is loaded with things that seem very appealing. Definitely worth a shot. 4 stars instead of 5 because no espresso. But again, the regular coffee was just fine. read more

I don't believe I've ever had a bad experience here. The wait is long if you don't get on the waitlist, but it's easy to get on and I've hardly had to wait. The only complaint might be that the Million Dollar Bacon is pretty expensive for only 4 slices of bacon; you can get the maple pepper bacon from Dunkin and have a similar taste. But the food is still good and the service is also good, so not much to complain about besides the price. I usually get one of the skillets, or the avocado toast (yes very millennial of me). This is definitely a go to for my friends and I when it's time to eat brunch. read more

First watch is one of my all time favorite lunch/brunch places in the area. My mom, dad, and I ate there this morning for a late breakfast/early lunch. We were greeted by the super friendly hostess, and seated immediately in a booth. Our server came over to us immediately asking if we would like any coffee or something else to drink. She was very friendly and had an awesome attitude. Customer service is great! The AM Superfoods Bowl is my favorite. There are no other bowls at any restaurant in the area that compare to this one! It is super filling, and the portion size is perfect. Yogurt with chia seeds, strawberries, blueberries, bananas, granola, it's just delicious! The fruit is very fresh as well. I also love that you get two pieces of toast (on a reaaaally good and very fresh bread) with a peanut butter spread topped with sea salt. The French toast is my other all time favorite, but it's all good! I love that they have some more health conscious and healthy options available. Our food came out so fast which was really nice. Overall the staff is very friendly and the food is delicious. Sarah was our waitress and she did a fantastic job! I will continue to eat at First Watch and recommend it to everyone! We visited as a group of 16 on a Saturday around 10:30. The restaurant was not very busy, and we asked if they would be able to accommodate us and were kindly welcomed . Everything after that was a complete disaster. #1 orders: after being seated , it took 40 minutes until someone took out order The initial 10 orders were missing any kind of bread . Even after repeated reminders, the bread never came. Food was mediocre , and eggs including eggs Benedict were over cooked. # service: There was a brief wait time before we got seated , and I used it as a restroom break . A waitress stopped me to ask how many people we were . I said "I think 16" - and she scoffed "you are kidding ". I wasn't sure if that was supposed to be a bad joke but chose to ignore. That same waitress would place (I should say throw ) orders randomly in the middle of the table and could not be bothered to find out whose order it was . When asking her she said "well we have no where to put you " (The section we were in was literally empty except our group ) But if you cannot handle a group - just let them know . We would've found a different place to enjoy our morning. I have never been yelled at at a restaurant - let alone by a waitress for the sole purpose of being a group . I had written early this year about boxed muffin mixes and taking favorite menu items off after name change to First Watch. This visit was very good! I was on my way to Waffle House but saw this place and decided to come in for breakfast. I was seated immediately. I ordered a blueberry pancake, egg n turkey sausage. I also ordered the banana granola pancake. Blueberry pancake was PERFECT! The banana granola pancake was thick! Too much granola and not enough banana. It tasted ok. I had the Lemon Ricotta pancakes. I asked for toppings on side. Lemon curd was FABULOUS! The best textured and flavored pancake I've ever had. Glad First Watch has made it to Birmingham. I was a fan of the locations in Tampa and it was refreshing to discover the 280 location offers a similar experience. It has a rustic chic feel, is nicely decorated and inviting, and bustling with friendly and efficient employees. They offer breakfast and lunch options, but I've only had breakfast. I'm a fan of the speciality pancakes. Try the lemon ricotta; they're dee lish! The blueberry are classic...and they don't hold back on the blueberries. I'm also a big fan of pumpkin (in the fall). If you do pork, the bacon is perfectly crisp, but the turkey sausage is a tasty replacement. I've also had a taste of several of the omelettes, all of which were great. One of my favorite things about Fresh Watch are the freshly squeezed juices. I love the Kale Tonic. On my recent visit I tried the new Turmeric Lemon Aid. It was both tasty and refreshing. I also think they're reasonably priced compared to what you would pay at other places for something similar. First Watch is becoming one of my favorite breakfast spots! It's convenient to my house and I try to get there early enough to beat the crowd. The first time I went I had the Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, and they were delicious! Fluffy with a delicious lemon sauce on top. We also tried the Million Dollar bacon, which was good! I normally don't like sweet bacon, but the combo of sweet and savory with just a hint of heat. The second time I went I had the Skakshuka, or Mediterranean Baked Eggs. The sauce for this was good, with plenty of spices, tomatoes, and onions. My only complaint was that the eggs aren't baked into the sauce. That was kind of odd to me, the waitress even asked how I wanted the eggs. I told her baked, but they looked like they were fried in a saucepan and just slid onto the sauce. For a brunch place it was good..... But I felt like they were trying to pull off a cracker barrel/panera bread vibe and when we where ready to pay we stood at the register for 5mins to the point I thought I Could of dine and dashed by now. It was very clean, alot of people walking around with ear buds in and grunie clothes that work there. Let me begin with the fact that we normally enjoy First Watch. I would say we are "regulars!" Let me mention that upon our arrival we requested seating for five which would include two high chairs. In a very slow establishment on a Monday morning , this shouldn't be a problem. There were probably a dozen or more tables empty that could accommodate. We were taken to a "booth" and had to change to two booster seats and a high chair. Our two year old doesn't navigate well in a booster, but we were willing to try. (Not a great choice) The server arrived and was willing to poor coffee into two cups that had somebody else's 1/4 cup of coffee sitting there. Okay! Who missed the cleaning and setup of this table? I ordered one of my favorites, the Baconado omelet. The Mrs. had the Trifecta and the children shared some eggs, bacon, fruit, and a chocolate pancake. We shared the "dessert" bacon! (Millionaires Bacon) The Baconado arrived and the avocado on top looked questionable. It was obviously overripe with brown stripes throughout. I opened the omelet to find what is pictured in this review. Brown, mushroom appearing avocados. Beyond ripe to almost rotten. I called it to the attention of the waitress and was asked, "Do you not like avocado?" Apparently she, nor the cook know what avocado "should" look like. I told her that I LOVE avocado but these were not good at all. She did offer to replace the omelette but I refused. I'm not a fan of "returned" food. Call it a trust issue. After our meal I waited to take my check to the cashier as to not cause a scene but to merely call attention to the foods poor quality. I showed a picture of the avocado to the cashier and a waitress standing there. They both made a couple of comments and then said, "Let me go get the manager!" The waitress left and after several minutes the cashier went to go find the waitress. They both returned and said the manager apologized, turned, scanned my receipt and charged me full price! I had no intention of asking for a discount or comp, but merely to inform. The manager refusing to come to the front and the cashier and waitress merely passing it off as if their poor quality was the standard, was offensive at best. Poor customer service along with poor quality is apparently acceptable at this location. My tolerance of this is not! One star? Besides the dirty dishes, the poor food quality, and the lack of customer service, the wait time was spectacular. Now a former "regular!" read more

A hidden gem perfect for the health conscious foodie! Tried out the "Trifecta" breakfast with a side of grits! Everything was pretty tasty. The normal over stuffed feeling you get after a carb loaded brunch...you won't feel that! Everything was light and flavorful while also being filling. This bacon was loaded with cracked pepper. I scrapped it off and the waiter apologized but never offered to replace it. It was over kill even after scrapping it was still too spicy.
