Wow! Is all I can say. Went to First Watch in Birmingham and had a horrible experience-no server ever greeted our table, The Host never said hello, how many, inside or out-NOTHING! She asked the manager where to sit us and the manager proceeds to tell her everywhere not to seat us. We were seated and a white man comes in and the host was super nice, laughing and chatting with him. I have been to first watch plenty of times and it never disappoints. I always go for a pretty heavy breakfast but I wanted something light and fresh yesterday. I chose the Tri-Athlete omelet and it was definitely a good choice. The food was hot and fresh. I was starving and the wait time was super short so that was also a bonus. All of the employees were wearing masks and I could see that they were constantly cleaning and maintaining safe COVID practices. The staff is always so nice and constantly attentive which is such a bonus when dining in somewhere. I would definitely recommend visiting here whenever you get a chance! read more

I wanted to turn around because the hostess didn't even acknowledge that I was standing there waiting to reserve a table but any way it's Sunday I'm in a great mood so moving along. I ordered the Lemon Ricotta pancakes and I really enjoyed it especially the lemon curd. I also ordered the sausage links and yuck they were extremely salty and very soft like I mean no texture. My girlfriend ordered the French toast and let me tell ya it was so bland I mean no cinnamon no vanilla just soft eggy bread. My niece ordered the Floridian French toast and the bananas and kiwi wasn't even ready to be served. My mom ordered a very dry omelette I didn't even taste hers. My wife and I thought we'd give this place a try. We love breakfast food and the healthy approach of this menu seemed appealing. Upon our arrival, we noticed the restaurant had only two occupied booths -- thus 90% of the seating was available and prepped. The hostess however seated us at a dirty booth, one with food and water glasses left over from a previous customer. (Perhaps because it was next to the window? I don't know why.) The hostess disappeared and we waited... After a few moments, the hostess reemerged with a soaking wet cloth she flung over the table, leaving behind a lot of water. We asked about the cleanliness of the questionable glasses on the table. She replied that she thought they were clean. But I wasn't so sure -- they certainly appeared to have been left behind on the table (perhaps unused) by the previous occupants. So we decided to move to the next booth. Unfortunately its table was also dirty and unprepped. Strike two. So we moved to the last booth in the row, as it had fresh glasses and coffee cups on the table. Prepped and ready to go! Unfortunately it also had old food and hair still sitting on the table - IT WAS DIRTY. STRIKE THREE. I pointed out the food and hair to the hostess. "This is not my station," she explained. Bitterly disappointed, we got up and left the restaurant. If a restaurant doesn't care about cleaning your table, do you think they care about cleaning the kitchen? I know the restaurant industry is a tough business. I like to see new places succeed. I take no pleasure is being the bearer of bad news. I had high hopes for this place. The concept and menu look great. But if they don't care enough to clean your table, how can they expect to stay in business? read more

First will say food is normally good! Today's experience was not. Ordered The Classic Eggs Benedict. My wife's omelette came out in a reasonable time, but advised they were still working on mine. Well they showed up, and as the waitress sat the plate down I could tell the eggs had been way over cooked. Not just a little, they were solid, no run at all. An attempt to make them again resulted in the same extremely over cooked "poached" egg. Here's the thing. Poached eggs are not easy to get right. Fine line between under/over cooked. So I'm forgiving a slight over or under, but this was extreme, twice. Clearly the cook had no clue how to poach an egg or just didn't care. They were considerate enough to take off the charge from our bill (since I ate one bite, as it just wasn't good with a boiled egg on it). If you offer anything make sure your staff can cook them correctly. read more

I had the 'Energy Bowl' and the beau had the Tri-Athlete. We both had the coffee and shared a kale tonic. We are precisely the basic-crunchy folks this place is aiming to please: we are health conscious, have high standards for food in both taste and quality, are comfortably middle class and love a good breakfast. In all these ways, First Watch fit the bill. I thought the prices were in line with other breakfast places but I never visited this location when it was the Egg and I so perhaps they have increased. The menu offers many unique, healthy breakfast, brunch, and lunch based options, as well as some interesting drink choices. I, however, was in a bit of a casual mood and decided to order The Traditional. The Traditional consists of your choice eggs, protein, toast, and seasoned potatoes. I opted for scrambled eggs and bacon. My food was hot and well portioned. Though not a huge fan of eggs, I found them tasty. The bacon was thick and crunchy. The seasoned potatoes were flavorful, but a dash of ketchup improved the taste. The total for my plate came out to about 12 dollars. A bit pricey. Not sure the meal was worth the price, but I found it fair enough to not have complaints. All in all, did enjoy my meal and will be interested to try different menu items another time. read more

I had horrible experience at this location, I was seated close to kitchen area meaning I can see almost everything in the kitchen. You would not believe what I saw with my own two eyes sitting there! I saw a waitress stick her hand in multiple people food,eat off of it and still serve it to the customer. So I told my waitress to make sure the young lady doesn't touch my food and I informed her why. The waitress agreed,and continued on with the rest of her tables at that time my food is almost done, the same lady that I asked not to touch my food touch my waffle and I feel it was intentionally because I had already told my waitress. So at this point I'm PISSED because why are you playing over my food after I asked you not to touch it period. I simply ask for the manager and you would NOT believe where he came from!! HE WAS IN THE KITCHEN YALL,meaning that that waitress felt comfortable enough to do it in his presence. I then told the manager the problem and I don't believe he understood the problem because he was only trying to offer me free meals for my experience there after I told him I was going to leave a review! Stopped by today with my wife after church. We arrived around 9am. The restaurant had five other tables seated total. We were placed in a back corner of the smaller dining room. Menus were given to us then we never saw our server for at least ten minutes. She finally came and took our order. She was pleasant but I did not understand the reason for the delay. Our food was delivered about ten minutes later. My and my wife's breakfast potatoes were cold. The toast was not warm either. My wife's turkey sausage was (pre)cooked and cold. My omelette was hot and acceptable. All in all a rough experience that was $35 and 40 minutes of bad. Thank goodness I had excellent company. I won't likely be back. read more

Inviting store front, friendly cashier and hostess at the door and a delightful server. Not only was our meal delicious, food came quickly and was prepared correctly...The very first time! Believe me when I say that getting all of these right is not as common as one might expect....And they apparently do it just like that every time.
