I was so excited when I heard we were going to be getting a First Watch closer to me. I had visited the one in Hoover for years. My son and I decided to check it out on a Sunday morning while our dog was getting groomed. This location is in a brand new shopping center and it's very convenient being off 31. The place was definitely busy, but we seated in about 10 minutes because we got on the waiting list. I started off with coffee and then a waffle with chocolate chips. I also got a side of the breakfast potatoes with Parmesan cheese sauce. My son got the Monterey club with potatoes. This is definitely a favor of his. There is a bar area where you can get some drinks at. The only gripe I have is there's only one bathroom each for women and men. Being the size that it is there should be multiple stalls. I definitely love the decor of the restaurant and it is so clean I guess because it's so new. Emilia was our server and she was very attentive. I will definitely be back sooner than later.

Full disclosure: We were able to attend the soft opening and enjoyed a complimentary meal while the staff fine-tuned their service. Nothing else in the center is open yet, so parking was easy, but there is also a back lot that offers additional space. We were quickly greeted and seated. The space is open and bright; it's decorated in a balance blend of both sleek and clean with warm and homey (peep the personalized wall painting). I started out with their Project Sunrise Coffee. Creamer and sweetener is on the table, but if you prefer milk, I'm sure the kitchen would be able to oblige. We also got an order of Holey Donuts to share. They come with chocolate sauce and a berry compote for dipping, and they have a beautiful presentation that reminded me of beignets. These work both as an appetizer and a dessert. Since we were there after noon, I ordered the Baja Turkey Burger. The sliced avocado and Horseradish Havarti make this an anything *but* bland turkey burger. My side of fruit was full of ripe pineapples, grapes, blueberries, and strawberries; it's seasonal, so the actual blend may vary throughout the year. Crystal was our server and did a good job; I think one of the managers said the waitstaff and kitchen were all pretty new to serving, but everything tasted fantastic and moved along. If you have time before you go, read up on Project Sunrise Coffee, or call their Feel Good Hotline which just recently launched. (No app needed; 1-844-KIND-020 / 1-844-546-3020.)

The Alabaster location is in its first week of opening. Spacious indoor and outdoor dining spaces. Minimal parking in the front but additional parking in the back of this newly constructed strip mall. The decor is modern and very breezy. The servers were all hustling and bustling. The kitchen kept great pace with the guests orders. The menu is the same across all locations with the exception of the summer menu (not currently offered here). The strawberry tres leches French toast was luxurious. The fruit was fresh and plentiful. The seasoned potatoes were great. They are also available in million dollar style that is a loaded version for an up-charge. The million dollar bacon is baked with a hint of sugary spices and a maple drizzle. It was delicious but also an up-charge. This is one of the first brunch style restaurants in the area so I expect a thriving, busy setting ASAP

Did someone say bacon? First Watch is new to Alabaster. My rating is actually a 4.5, but adjusted for circumstances, I rounded up instead of down. Great new space. High ceilings, though even with some aucoustic/aesthetic accomodations, it's still a little loud. But the decor is nice, and I liked the Alabaster mural. The Holey Donuts shareable was good. I tried both the chocolate dip and the berry blend, and of course, I preferred the chocolate. The fruit must have been good, since the wife ate it even without the donut holes. My main attraction was The Traditional Breakfast with scrambled, whole grain toast, potatoes, and an upgrade to Million Dollar Bacon. Million Dollar Bacon is doing a lot, with syrup glaze, brown sugar, and pepper; I wasn't prepared for the cayenne, but it wasn't overwhelming. The only small hiccups were having to ask for water and not coming back after dropping the check. I didn't get coffee, but then had to ask for water a few minutes later since I had nothing to drink. (A second glass in case my wife also wanted water from the carafe would have been a plus, too.) Our waitress was super attentive during the meal, but then after dropping the check while we were finishing didn't come back to ask if we needed to-go boxes or anything else, but she may have been tasked with something else, since it was getting close to closing time. Still very good all around, and I hope they do well, since we don't have many breakfast options close by. Note: We got the meal free, since it was part of their soft opening, but we don't personally know anyone. It's just what they do for their soft openings.

As always the food at First Watch is excellent! This is a new location so it took quite awhile for the food to come out. Server was good but the wait time was a bit excessive. I expected it will improve with time. Love the decor and the open feel.

Nice atmosphere. There were two small groups already there, and I get the impression it is kind of a hang-out for some high school/young adults. The staff was friendly, and even though we'd indicated we'd had boba tea before, they were great at giving the whole tea spiel. I'd seen lots of colorful teas and fruit and such online, but we were just looking for the standard milk teas, as a good one of those is essential. My daughter got a taro with boba which was going to be my pick, so I quickly chose the Cinnamon Roll from the wall, which is winter melon milk tea, winter melon and cinnamon (syrup) drizzle, and boba. The boba was still warm in the bottom of the cup, which was an interesting first for me. But the boba was generous, and the drizzle gave it a sweetness and flavor that definitely tasted like a cinnamon roll. My daughter said the taro was a little bland, and on sampling I kind of agree that the taro was a bit mild. I did have one issue with my cup. When I went to pick it up, I did so from the bottom and it splorted out the top of the straw; I felt like a kid with a juice box, though I definitely didn't pick it up with any type of Hulkish vice squeeze. I don't know if it was because of the warm boba or just a thinner cup that was softer to touch. Picking it up close to the top of the cup helped. I do like that there is a closer boba tea option than there ever used to be, and while it wasn't my absolute favorite boba tea of all time, it's definitely some place I'll return to try a few more of the traditional milk tea options.

I am greeted by Mr.Eddie (the owner) himself every time I go and have had nothing but friendly conversations/interactions with most if not all of the staff. Mr.Eddie runs a tight ship! When you get to the light at the corner of 31 and Pelham Park Blvd, just look to the right and you'll see a quaint little white building. Behind it is the Pelham Public Library which looms over Bullet and to the other side of Bullet is Edgars Bakery. As mentioned BC has been there about a year now. The other BC is on 280 and there's one more in Fairhope. All are owned by the same individual who also owns their sister store the Red Mountain Expresso. BC is not technically another "pop up" coffee place because this is actually a brick and concrete building albeit it's just big enough to be a full service drive thru, but it doesn't have any seating inside or out. Just a drive thru. The drive-thru is planned nicely so it's easy to get to the order window then around to the pickup/pay window. Their menu options long and diverse but also typical of any coffee place. They also serve fresh daily sausage biscuits and pimento cheese biscuits. They have specialties like the Turtle latte, Classics like cold brew, blended drinks like frappes and non coffee drinks like iced teas and chai. I was lucky today because they are in middle of running a special called Frappy Hour good for another week. From 3-6pm all medium frappes are $2! I tried the Java Chip and Cookie & Cream. She asked me if I wanted the "coffee" or "milk" based. The coffee is the traditional way but the milk would be more like a milkshake. I chose coffee. I didn't get whipped cream which was offered. I only had to wait a couple minutes after paying. She even gave me a frequent visitor card. Get 10 drinks, get the 11th free! The cookies and cream was good, but the java chip was even better. Nicely blended, cool and refreshing on this warm afternoon. Yom Yom Yom Yom. It hit the spot! Welcome to Pelham BC!

The menu is available online, but it doesn't have prices. I had it narrowed down to two choices when I pulled in, but the menu with prices wasn't readily available when I was several cars back, and if the rotating menu boards did have prices, I couldn't have seen them until it was pretty much my turn to order. So I decided to get the exact same thing I got at the 'competitor' earlier this week. I ordered a medium Sugar Free Tiger's Blood; it's an energy drink with coconut and strawberry. The drink itself was a little lighter in color; it also had a much different taste. It had more of a bite than I was expecting; maybe it had less strawberry? I'll assume it had similar calories, but anything I've seen online shows it might have a little more caffeine than the other, at 114mg for a medium. I still had absolutely no idea of how much it was. Well, surprise, excluding tip, it was 81¢ MORE than the competitor. Cons: Online ordering not available Nutritional information/calculator not available Prices not readily available Drink ordered less expensive and better flavor elsewhere So would I get this $7 energy drink again? Absolutely not. However, I might be willing to try a coffee or tea based drink hoping that it's not as pricey and I can get it with the creamers and sweeteners I prefer.
