We were pleasantly surprised that it wasn't busy when we arrived, especially since it was Labor Day weekend. We were seated right away, and our waitress was friendly and attentive. She was covering quite a few tables, so it did seem like they were a little short-staffed that day, but she still did a good job taking care of us. We ordered the Million Dollar Bacon Breakfast Sandwich with seasoned potatoes, along with the Farmstead Tacos with potatoes and a side of Million Dollar Bacon. The tacos and breakfast sandwich were both good, but the maple bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich was absolutely delicious! I ordered the pickled jalapeños on the side, which was perfect for me. One suggestion for the Farmstead Tacos: the shells are VERY thin. I would recommend doubling up on the shells, similar to how they're served at many Mexican restaurants, so they hold together better and provide a little more support for the filling. The seasoned potatoes were unfortunately too salty for my taste. I would suggest using less seasoning. I'm not sure if they come pre-seasoned, but next time I'll probably request no additional seasoning to see if that makes a difference. Tip: Download their app and sign up for their email list! They offer specials, promotions, and even BOGO coupons and other deals, which can definitely help you save on future visits. Overall, we enjoyed our breakfast and would definitely come back--especially for that Million Dollar Bacon breakfast sandwich!

I love coming to First Watch and this time was no exception. The food is so delicious! My waffle was so tasty and so filling because of the size of it. The salmon frittata was chef's kiss The blazing dragon drink was something I couldn't stop drinking. Service was awesome but it was quite busy. We were given one time and then told a later time which is my only drawback to them getting five stars. Communication is vital so that customers can make other choices if needed. All in all, great ambiance and super clean. There were options to sit inside and outside. Our server was amazing.

I've previously visited one of the other nearby locations and I have to say this location was more enjoyable for me. The other location was stuffed to the gills with "influencer vibes" as well as clientele and I just want to sit in a nice, clean environment to enjoy delicious food. The Avondale location hit all those marks for me. Our server Jimena was very friendly and polite as well as speedy to make sure we had everything we needed from napkins and water to our food. The space is clean and decorated very humbly while still holding up the feel you might expect of First Watch. I tried the breakfast tacos and I definitely recommend! If you're a little hungry it's not too much food and if you're definitely hungry it's a good amount of food either way they're delicious. I will be returning to the Avondale location next time I'm in town!

If you're debating whether to try First Watch... just go. Seriously. We ordered like people who hadn't eaten in days: biscuits and gravy (as a "side"... sure), seasonal fruit (grapes, pineapple, strawberries), and the chimichurri steak & eggs with hash as our main. Oh--and a kale tonic drink to feel responsible, plus iced coffee because balance. Everything? Absolutely delicious. Not one weak link. We ended up sharing everything and still had more than enough food for two people--which is rare unless you accidentally order for a family of four like we did. The real problem now is we've seen the rest of the menu... and we want all of it. So yeah, we're definitely coming back with a better strategy (and probably more stomach capacity). Staff was super attentive, our waiter was phenomenal, and the whole modern farmhouse vibe is actually really well done--clean, bright, and "Instagram-but-not-trying-too-hard." Also, underrated detail: the bathrooms. Four individual private units instead of the usual awkward stall situation. Huge win. Final verdict: great food, great service, great vibe. Come hungry... and maybe bring a game plan.

This was our first time at the new Avondale location! We stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday morning, and it was busy. We waited about 40 mins for a table and were seated. The hostess, Montana, was great, and our server, Caleb, was so amazing! He was so attentive, friendly, and nice! The food was all tasty, and the portions were huge! We will definitely be back!

I always love a great b'fast or brunch at First Watch. I've visited many locations around the valley. I am excited about the new locations either just opening or coming to the Goodyear/Buckeye areas. This is a popular place. So I would recommend going on their website and sign up for the "Get in Line" waitlist. It sure helps not to have to stand in the heat when the weather gets warm. Always greeted with a smile and attentive servers. Since I am pretty much of a clean eater, I always look for the healthiest options. My usual go to is the Market Veggie sandwich. I also enjoy the Morning Meditation or Purple Haze drinks with a wellness shot.

First time at First Watch and it is everything people told us about. GOOD STUFF! Alicia our server is fantastic. Her service is beyond. The food we ordered is delicious. My fav is the Million Dollar Bacon, Million Dollar Potatoes, and Multigrain Pancakes. Everyone else hummed their food. Check out the menu. The food, drink choices are amazing. Ambience is the best for ALL; quite casual and comfortable. Definitely a bookmark for me

We stopped in at about 815 AM on a Monday and it wasn't as busy as I thought it would be (now when we left - it was definitely packed!) the wait staff was great - very attentive. We ordered the trifecta (waffle, scrambled eggs and chicken apple sausage), and the biscuits and turkey gravy. Both were good. The chicken apple sausage was a bit dry though, but the rest was good. I would recommend both plates. The food came out quickly. The restaurant is clean and well maintained.

It is very rare to give 5 stars these days. First Watch is the example of why a 5 star rating must be given. The food is just amazing! The flavors, presentation and overall experience made my tummy so very happy. Our server Caleb should be given an award for his personality, attentiveness, patience and kindness. What a wonderful human. The young lady who assisted him was also very sweet, sorry that I did not get her name. Love the esthetics of the restaurant! Farm meets industrial was the feel of it for me and I loved it. Due to its clear popularity, we waited a bit but it was well worth it!!!! We wish that we had a location in California, but we will be back soon I hope. Soooo good!!

Try the new sandwich it was good, but for some reason, the seasoned potatoes are literally in edible to eat their salted so bad. I don't know if they come preseason and then they add more seasoning but they are literally disgusting. That's how salted they are.

We came to AZ for Spring training and wanted to have a traditional breakfast before heading back home to California and found First Watch on Yelp. We were blown away with how delicious EVERYTHING was. Melissa was our server and she was absolutely amazing! We told her we were from out of state and what she would recommend we have, her suggestion were on point. Melissa constantly checked in on us making sure we were ok. Honestly one of the best experiences I've had in a long time at a restaurant. If she isn't a team leader or supervisor she should be because her interactions with coworkers was also top tier, very empowering and supportive, truly one of a kind. I will definitely come back if ever in AZ again. Food reference, I ordered the the strawberry tres leches French toast and the biscuits and gravy and both items were finger licking good! Five stars in my book! Can't wait to come back! Thank you Melissa and thank you First Watch for making us feel welcomed and for your amazing customer service. In a world full of hate it really gives you hope that there are good/humble people out there.

Came on Saturday morning and jt wasn't super busy. We had a baby stroller with us which apparently is not very accommodated here. The greeter Ty made me and my family feel absolutely horrible and as if we were an inconvenience. He was out of line and rude about the stroller, saying it will block the way and such. Honestly where we sat there was so much space for it, but we already felt so unwelcome that we just figured another way out. Pretty much ruined my day. Why are you being rude in the morning, and to your customers?! Our server was Alicia and she definitely turned our experience with Ty 180 degrees. She is so professional and sweet. Thank you for that!!!! Please train Ty to be more friendly to customers with strollers.

This is my second time visiting a First Watch restaurant. We visited the Avondale location for a quick late brunch. Service is friendly and we were seated immediately. We asked for a booth and were given one by the window. There is table and booth seating, and also some patio seating. There were quite a few flies around us and that was really my only complaint. It may have been because we were by the window. Today we ordered: - Coffee - I love how our waitress left the carafe at the table so I could refill as needed. Creamers and sugar are also part of the table setting. - Unsweet Iced Tea - Lemon Ricotta Pancakes to share - these pancakes are amazing! Probably some of the best I've had. They were light and fluffy inside and I could see the ricotta filling in some parts, but the edges were golden and crispy. I happen to love lemon curd so the dollop of lemon curd and powdered sugar sprinkled over sliced strawberries on top really made this a delightful treat to share. Also, a warm carafe of maple syrup is brought with the pancakes! Five stars - Omelette - Hubs ordered the omelette with a side of potatoes and ate all of it. Everything was really good. - Pick 2: 1/2 Sandwich & Salad - I chose the roast beef and havarti half sandwich with side of horseradish dip and the warm kale, berry, and nut salad topped with sliced warm chicken. Everything was delicious. I actually ate my entire meal. This salad really impressed me and I might order a full salad next time I come in.

Broken water glass that server never came back to let know we need a new one.

It's cozy, inviting, and the overall vibe actually put me in the mind of First Watch. They've created a space that feels like somewhere you could sit down, relax, and enjoy a nice breakfast or brunch. I tried the PB&J Protein Shake. It was good, but would I personally order it again? Probably not. Now, the Cookie Butter Latte Frappe with extra whip? DELICIOUS. That one absolutely gets a repeat order from me. I also took a look at the menu--the sign encourages you to grab one and look it over--and I have to say, several of the food items sound really good. So next time, I do plan to sit down, order some food, and give the full dining experience a try. Now, here's where there is definitely room for improvement: customer service. I wasn't greeted when I walked in, and the interaction felt a little standoffish. Nothing terrible happened, but hospitality matters. When you have a cozy atmosphere and a promising menu, the customer service should match that same energy. A simple "Welcome in!" and a warmer interaction can make a major difference in someone's overall experience. There's a lot I like about Penny Cafe, and I definitely see the potential. I'll be back to try the food and that Cookie Butter Latte Frappe again. Hopefully, on my next visit, the customer service will be just as inviting as the atmosphere.

It's generally consistent, and when something has been off, they've usually been good about correcting it. The problem is there seems to be something nearly every visit. During the breakfast rush, the lobby gets so packed you're practically standing over people eating near the host stand. Cleanliness also needs attention - the yellow fabric booth backs are visibly stained, and on one visit I could see into the kitchen and noticed a dirty rag leaning against food being prepped. We started coming around 11:30-12 to avoid the rush, yet oddly our last two visits have had some of the longest waits for food and service. One meal took over 30 minutes waiting for a poached egg on an egg benedict (I think the kitchen forgot) while my other food sat ready in the back and got too cold to eat by the time they brought everything out. The waitress was NOT helpful at all but took the meal off when she saw we could barely eat half. Most recently when we made a reservation, we received a text saying our table was ready, confirmed it, walked inside, and were told it by the hostess " I just wanted to make sure you'd confirm, it'll be another 10 minutes." Why tell guests their table is ready when it isn't??? That just started things off bad. Although we do get a good chuckle every time we hear one of the hosts take a guest back and as "so what brings you in here?" Oh you know, probably because y'all have food and we're hungry what else? Lol That same visit, our waitress repeated all my modifications back correctly, but when we actually got the food it wasn't cooked to what was specified so I'm thinking the main problem is with the kitchen being careless and not paying attention to tickets, ticket times, cleanliness, etc. it just feels like things are getting sloppy. I don't expect perfection and any one of these things would be easy to overlook. It's the fact that the "little somethings" (cleanliness, long wait times, incorrect orders, or poor communication) are starting to add up. I do gotta say the food has been SOLID, flavor wise, which is why we've kept giving them another chance, but the attention to detail needs improvement. At this point, another major issue may finally be the one that keeps us returning here for our weekly fam brunches. I do hope things don't keep sliding though, this is a nice spot in a prime location.

Very nice decor inside and out, great vibe and was very clean. Once seated, our waitress took our drink order. We ordered 2 Abuelita chocolate lattes, 1 cafe de olla, 1 water and 1 juice for a child. She took our order and our food was served 10 minutes later! Our orders were: chilaquiles Rojas, enchilada suizas de pollo, entomatadas de arrrachera, flautas de tinga, scrambled egg and a dessert- beso de angel. I ordered the flautas, they were covered with an avocado cream sauce and some pickled onions in a chipotle flavored red chile. The flautas were crispy, avocado sauce was delicious, I didn't care for the onions- it had a "bold" taste- different from other pickled onions I've tasted. The red chile was good with a slight chipotle flavor. They were stuffed with shredded chicken and were very good. I tasted every dish and here's my opinion- red chilaquiles were ok- red chile was good, I feel they needed a little more chile as they were a tad dry. The beans were ok. The enchilad suizas were good the green sauce was flavorful, my niece did find a hair in it so they made her a new plate and profusely apologized. The entomatadas were good, the arrachera was ok- some pieces a little chewier than others and the salsa they sat in was yummy. The beso de angel was delicious. It's a thin piece of cake with flan on top covered with a caramel cream sauce and nuts- or that's what I tasted and considered it to be. The abuelita chocolate lattes were very strong and sweet- the girls didn't like them as much. The cafe de olla was very good. I tasted it without cream and it was good. Overall great experience, great service and great vibe. There was a young man that attended to us as well- Jose. He was very friendly and so helpful. He made our experience worth every penny spent!! In asking everyone how they liked their food, they said it was good- not big fans of the lattes. My niece said their desserts were delicious along with the coffee- she had been there before. My sis in law had invited me here to celebrate my birthday. They mentioned this to our waitress and I received a complimentary piece of cake with a candle. Very nice gesture. I think it's a little pricey but then again, that's just my opinion. Will definitely return to try something different. It was packed when we left with people outside on the patio.
