    Chicken Fried Steak

I loved that this was an old school joint in old town Buckeye. My sister and I split the chicken fried steak breakfast and it was a good sized portion. The chicken fried steak itself was delicious! The gravy was very tasty as well. As for the home fries they lacked major flavor. In California we are used to home fries with peppers, onions, and seasonings. The biscuit left much to be desired. It was terrible. Service was decent and super friendly.

This was our first visit, Ms. Esmeralda was our server. She was FANTASTIC! The food was delicious. We will be back.

This was our first visit to The Sheep Camp. Many neighbors have talked about it and the reviews appeared positive and I'm all about supporting small business. I had read there can be a wait- there was and it was only about 15 minutes. You do have to stand outside or wait in your car as there isn't a waiting area inside. The hubby and I ordered breakfast. He ordered the corned beef hash. He is VERY particular about his hash- and he liked it! He had eggs, fried potatoes and biscuit as the sides. Eggs were perfect but the potatoes were undercooked and hard. He also ordered coffee and water. I ordered the pancake breakfast. The pancakes were beautiful, light, and fluffy with a good flavor. My eggs were also cooked perfectly and the bacon! Mmm! The bacon! 2 slices of thick cut bacon with the right portion of meat and fat on each slice! Bacon heaven! And I ordered iced tea, which tasted great! The negative, our server spoke so quietly and the low roar of everyone talking made it difficult to hear what she was saying. Part of my husband's meal was forgotten and we had to ask for it- by the time we got it, he had already finished all but 2-3 bites of his meal. He had also asked for a glass of water that he never received. And, our server only checked on us once, I wanted a refill on the $4 glad of iced tea but couldn't get the servers attention as she was standing in the back behind the partition- when she did walk past, we were seemingly ignored. Overall, I was disappointed in the lack of attentiveness of the server after reading the reviews of how kind and attentive the staff are. It was $40 for 2 breakfast meals, including $4 for a drink (that was never refilled). If you are looking to support a local business that has a decent breakfast and- only based on this experience- mediocre service, then I recommend trying this place at least once.

Usually drive by on Sunday with folks waiting outside-so I keep driving. However, I stopped by on Saturday. Still busy but no wait and seated promptly. Esmeralda's service was amazing and quality food was delicious. The building is older as some commented on. The inside is clean. This will be my Saturday stop.

Threw my camera gear, in the truck, and headed towards Gillespie Dam, this morning, and realized, I forgot to eat breakfast. By the time I arrived in Buckeye, Az. it was 1 o'clock. But, my stomach reminded me, it has been Friday afternoon, since the needle on the gauge, was on full. I had jumped off the freeway, in Goodyear, Az. As it's always been my habit, to take the less traveled route, when I'm looking for a place, to use my cameras. As I came into Buckeye, I saw a sign that said Sheep Camp, on my right, so I pulled in, the parking lot. As I entered, Sheep Camp, I was immediately greeted, by a very busy lady, that told me to take any table , that i'd like. As soon as I sat down, I realized, Sheep Camp, was a very, well oiled machine. There were only two empty tables available. So I knew, this was a popular hangout, for the locals. The place smelled like the restaurant, my Mom, use to own. So I was looking forward, to eating. I ordered the Patty Melt, with fries & a glass of iced tea. My ordered was served, in no time at all. When I took that first bite of my sandwich, I thought I was in heaven. I haven't tasted ground beef, that good, since 1969. I know that sounds unrealistic. But I enjoyed that meal, so much, I hated to finish. Out of 5 stars, I give this place, 6 stars. For the food, the service & ambiance. Sheep Camp, is the reason, I keep my radar on, for hole in the wall, cafe's. The waitress, treated me like I had been coming in there, all my life. If you're headed to California, or Yuma, via the I-10 west. This gem, is well worth the short detour. Almost, makes me wish I lived in Buckeye, Az. No! Not really. But I'll never pass this way again, without stopping in, to eat. Thank you, Sheep Camp, staff. You are incredible. By the way. Where do you get your hamburger?

Excellent breakfast place! You know it's good when the locals pack it out! Service was friendly. Location is convenient, inside is simple, cute, and clean. We got the waffle with strawberries and whipped cream, and chorizo and eggs. All was fantastic! Honestly, the waffle was the best waffle I've ever had in my life. Go here!

The building is old, which is fine it actually gives it character and charm inside. The issue is that it doesn't feel well maintained. The floors were dirty, and the bathrooms were also not clean, which took away from the overall experience. Customer service was nice. The lady with black hair who helped us was very friendly, and honestly, she made the experience a bit better. I almost feel bad pointing this out, but even small details stood out like her shoes looking dirty, not worn out, just not clean. I ordered the chile relleno, and it was my first time having it with red sauce. Not a big deal, but the sauce was surprising. It tasted more like Taco Bell sauce than an actual chile-based sauce. It definitely didn't resemble a chile colorado or anything close to a New Mexico or Anaheim chile flavor. The consistency was thick, more like a barbecue sauce, very similar to those packet sauces. The portions are big, which is a plus, but the flavor just isn't there. Overall, customer service is good, the building has charm, but the cleanliness is an issue, and the food doesn't stand out. Prices are okay maybe a little high for the location and condition of the place, but not extremely expensive.

Just like my mom's. She had passed not too long before. It warmed my soul. I have been to the Buckeye Cracker Barrel at least three times. Every time, I order the pot roast and I *will* it to be like that first time. It never is. Not that it's bad. It's just not mom's. But, I at least feel in proximity to that comfort. The other thing that never changes is where we are seated at this Cracker Barrel. Always, we're the first table in the middle section, just on the other side of the partition. We arrived when only two other tables were occupied, both in the first section when you come in the restaurant. When we left, that first section was nearly full, and no one was sat in the middle section where we were. It was oddly comforting, to always be at that table. But, odd.

One of the best breakfasts I've had in a decade…read more Over the years, Americans have converted breakfast to a corporate affair. Today, our breakfasts are experienced at places like "Over Easy," "First Watch," "Village Inn," and "Denny's." It's industrial breakfast. The old-fashioned, mom-and-pop diners are as rare as a hen's tooth. But not in Buckeye, Arizona. The Heritage is a welcome return to the great, neighborhood breakfast counters of old. It's privately owned and the owner, Kevin, greets you and stops by your table. "That's great," you say. But what about the food? And that's where The Heritage makes its name. Let's start with the homemade, pillowy sourdough English muffins. Most places use some industrial-food English muffin preserved with disgusting ingredients like L-Cysteine. These aren't those. These are like your grandma made. They're soft, yeasty circles of beauty with just enough sourdough taste to send your tastebuds into bread heaven. They're a far cry from your basic English muffin. On to the eggs. Most breakfast restaurants use liquid eggs from the restaurant supply. They come in big bags, bereft of nutritious value and flavor, but full of preservatives. Not these. The Heritage uses fresh eggs and they've perfected how to make them fluffy, buttery, and perfectly-cooked. No brown spots or runny middles. It's egg perfection. The sausage is really different. These are not your usual Sysco or Shamrock greasy pucks. They're thin and fresh and meaty and just slightly spicy (not hot just slightly herby). They're a subtle flavor surprise. And fork tender. The potatoes are little cubes of rich goodness. Cooked just right and golden brown. They're excellent. To finish off the breakfast, Heritage serves a luscious Carmel pecan roll with a vanilla glaze. I liked it but it was slightly dry if I want to be ridiculously nit-picky. But most people wouldn't even notice. All of it is served by some smiling young women who were working hard and answering lots of questions. The entire service experience was pleasant, friendly, and efficient. On a Saturday morning the place was PACKED so service was slightly slow. Though nothing like a crazy morning at Over-Easy or First Watch. What an amazing and pleasant surprise this little restaurant is. Their breakfast burrito looked excellent and everybody around us was raving about it. I'll try that next. The menu is small but efficient and contains some little gems. Give the cinnamon roll a try too! This is an absolute must for breakfast or brunch. And I hear the owner is thinking about offering dinner in the near future. A needed find in a historic building in old downtown Buckeye. A new favorite.

If I had to rate it, I'd say 7/10. The fries were just cooked enough and almost had a hint of being undercooked. The burger itself was pretty tasty, but if the bun was a little softer, I would've given it a solid 9/10. Still, their breakfast is always delicious, and that's usually what keeps us coming back.
