Awesome hidden gem. The menu is wildly expansive from cheap burritos to crazy expensive steaks. You can really make it into whichever experience you'd like. I'd gotten the chicken plate, and LOVED it. Great cook on everything and really flavorful bites all around. (would have loved a spicier salsa option, tho). Ambiance is simple and open. Good food, though it's hit or miss. We've been coming since it was in the Holiday Inn up on Dysart but we stopped after three visits where the food arrived burned (like charred black), or completely cold, or it was rushed and the order was wrong by a mile. We decided to try again at this new location. It was good. The ribeye tacos are really good, as are the potato tacos (try them!). Our food arrived hot and everything was good. Personally I'm not a fan of their salsas. And I think it's lame to have to separately order chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant. Especially considering their prices are astronomical for Mexican food. And the chips and salsa are not cheap. But those are nit-picks. I'd say good overall. For me it's not anything great, and it's not a good, old, "family-style" Mexican restaurant with red plastic soda tumblers and plentiful chips and salsa. It's more of a "boutique" Mexican-inspired restaurant. Decent for sure, but the prices for me are way high for what it is (a taqueria really). Still, give it a try. I was looking for a new place to try near me and found this gem in Old Buckeye. The vibe was perfect. With people celebrating birthdays, couples on dates, and friends just hanging out and having a good time. Everything we ordered was so good! The queso fundido and chicharrón de ribeye were incredible starters. My fiancé and I decided to go big and ordered the tomahawk steak. It did not disappoint! The flame, the flavor, the sides... everything was a solid 10/10. I also tried the ribeye aguachile, and wow!!! that was hands down my favorite dish of the night. The meat was super tender, and the flavors were just next level. I'd honestly come back just for that! It was our first time there, and James took such good care of us. He was really attentive, patient, and helped us pick out the best dishes. To end the night, the staff surprised me by playing Las Mañanitas, bringing out a mariachi hat for me to wear, and serving a delicious churro cake with a sparkler candle. Okay!!! Buckeye is stepping up their food game for sure with this place! The taco trio and nachos were so flavorful. All the meats were cooked perfectly and the ingredients were fresh. We also tried their pineapple Agua Fresca and OMG!!!!!!! It's a must try! Our server was very friendly and spoke very highly of the restaurant. The ambience is clean and has really cute details. Cool vibe and overpriced hipster tacos don't make up for terrible service. The food was ok, but waiting over an hour for tacos is ridiculous. No updates, no urgency, and by the time the food came out we were already irritated. Extremely overpriced for what you get and definitely not worth the wait. To make things worse, we ended up getting sick after eating here. Definitely stay away. Supporting local businesses is great, but they seriously need to get it together. read more

WOW! Dare I say the best FOOD I've ever had? Went for happy hour on a Thursday, which the happy hour deals are PHENOMENAL, and ended up coming back on Sunday. The food is fresh, hot, and authentic. You can smell the wood fired grill from the outside. The space is comfortable and the service was great, our waiter was attentive and personable. The burritos, exceptional, the barbincito which is like a tostada, delicious, the quesadilla, incredible. The chips and salsa, phenomenal. Absolutely LOVED the vibe, the food, and the service! My husband and I treated ourselves to a date here on a Thursday afternoon and it did not disappoint. He ordered the spiked horchata and it was delicious! We also shared the steak flight parrillada and it was amazing! Our favorite was the picana! Melt in our mouth and full of flavor!! The service was barely ok, and the food was terrible. Went last night I tried to order a 10oz filet, at a steak place and they said they were out, but they had 6 oz, not a good start. Ordered it, wife ordered some fish tacos. The appetizer came out , too greasy, dripped greases everywhere, had to ask for silverware, table was sticky. Food arrived, steak was medium in part, rare in a part and almost raw elsewhere, filets aren't tough, this was, I was a butcher, it seemed ALOT more like check than filet, the sides were tasteless and tiny, the wife's tacos were meh at best, we ordered churros for dessert, they came out burnt in parts and rock hard in multiple small pieces, the table next to us got theirs right after us, theirs were all in one piece, not burnt and looked fresh. $202 for shoddy service and terrible food, don't waste your time or money, it's the worst place we've been to here in 2 years! read more

We tried Barbon Asadero after seeing it mentioned on tv. The restaurant is very nice inside, and we were sat promptly. We ordered I believe queso to start. The taste was good but you only receive 4 small tortillas with the order. I usually don't eat Mexican food but chips for me would be a better option so half of the queso went to waste. My wife ordered tacos and I had the quesadillas. The food was tasty and cooked to order. The restaurant is a little pricey ,over 80 dollars for lunch. We will probably return but not for dinner as the menu prices scared us a bit. All in all a good experience, the 4 was for the prices. read more

The red tacos (quesabirrias) were delish!! Same with the sampler platter - my hubby loved it. I even got a free birthday dessert (churros & ice cream/berries with a sparkler on top)! Great New Spot in the West Valley! Came in around 8 PM with my husband and we got seated pretty quickly. We started with drinks--I had the Buckeye Sunset and he got a Modelo. Both were great and set the tone for a nice evening. We shared the ribeye chicharrón as an appetizer, and it was so good--super flavorful and crispy, definitely a highlight! For my main, I ordered the 3 red tacos with beans and rice. I would've enjoyed it even more if they had brought out some salsas to try at the table--would've been perfect for the tacos. My husband had the picana taco and the grilled Baja fish taco--he really liked both. Overall, it's a solid new addition to the West Valley. The rice and beans tasted truly authentic...none of that bland, imitation "Mexican" rice that so many places try to pass off as the real thing. The meat was perfectly seasoned, and the vegetables were fresh and flavorful. On top of that, the staff was incredibly kind and courteous, making the whole experience even better. read more

We were really excited to try this place as I had been to their food truck they started years ago! The staff was very kind and attentive. The atmosphere was very laid back. The music was a little too loud for my liking but not overkill at all. For an appetizer we had the COSTILLITAS ASADAS. The aguachile marinade was really good! The short ribs were so incredibly tender. The salsa, I believe was some kind of roasted was not spicy and not acidic which was nice. I personally would have liked a little more heat. We ordered the PARILLADA DE CARNE ASADA* (medium rare). It was over cooked but was still tender. They didn't over season it so it had great mesquite flavor. The ranchero beans were unique and had a nice flavor. The rice was bland. The guacamole was well balanced. The chimichurri was delicious! The corn tortillas were light and did not fall apart. They also gave us plenty! Which was nice. The churro cheese cake was not a cheesecake, but some type of delicious cake with cheesecake in the middle. Oh, cucumber-lime aguas frescas was soooo good. My family and I were seated within about 5-10 minutes of arriving. Our drink orders were taken about 10-15 minutes after we sat down BUT our food orders were not taken until about a good 30 minutes after sitting. Our waitress never came back to tell us it would be another 30-40 minutes to receive our food. I asked the hostess to call our waitress over and she never came and asked what we wanted and simply just dropped our food off. It felt like she was running away from our table after any interaction. She never once apologized for the delay. She only stopped by to then drop our check off and that was all. Service was so bad. Don't think you're going to a traditional Mexican restaurant. I was in the mood for an enchilada and refried beans, and a frozen margarita. They don't have any of those things. So I went with a second option a chimichanga. Nope don't have those either. Their Salsa for the tortilla chips had a very strong smoky flavor. If you're looking for something fusion or hipster this is the place for you. If you are Looking for a more traditional Mexican restaurant this is not the place. We have ordered items to go in the past and liked everything so this week we decided to eat at the restaurant. We started with the queso fundido which was absolutely delish! I want to go back and order some of the steak dishes based just off this dish! The chips and salsa were super good and I had the fish taco, chicken and potato taco-all were super yummy. The portions of food does not match the price especially the Ribeye tacos there best . We dont mind paying but you should at least get what you pay for ! We were served completely raw chicken -- not just undercooked, RAW. The plate was taken back, but everyone else at the table got their food while the person who returned the dish sat there for over 30 minutes waiting for a replacement. When we brought it up, the "assistant manager" was dismissive and acted like we were trying to get free food instead of acknowledging a serious health issue. No apology, no urgency. We drove out from Glendale to try this place and it was extremely disappointing. Overrated, overpriced, and careless. Ordered takeout recently and I was really disappointed. The $10 specialty steak and picanha tacos I got had a slice of meat, no onion, cilantro or even chimichurri sauce. The chile verde burrito had no chile verde, it was just meat with tons of nerves and tortilla. The chips were stale and had a greasy aftertaste. The only good thing about my order was the salsa.
