My co-worker said I should try Barbon Asadero while in town...oh my, what a great experience. The restaurant has a fun vibe, very welcoming, clean, and nice. All of the staff was great and friendly, and the bartender was super cool and helped me come up with a variety of options for dinner. Ok...the food...if I could give 10 stars on Yelp, I would with no hesitation. I settled on the Red Tacos and got an extra Carne Asada taco. We were visiting from out of town and stumbled upon this spot. After reading about it, found out that it was best to make a reservation ahead of time (made online). We realized that we were running late, so I called to let them know and thankfully they noted it. Parking wasn't hard to find (on street or their own private lot) and we were easily able to check in. The place was pretty packed when we arrived, but they placed a reserved sign on our table. It was basically a steak/meat spot. I initially tried to order a Carajillo, but was told that they ran out of the espresso (it was toward the end of the night, so understandable), and instead opted for the Tia Mia (Mezcal cocktail) and my husband got the Buckeye Sunset (Tequila cocktail). Both were very well made--presentation and flavors. For the food, we got the Chips and Salsa, Birria Protein Bowl, and Picahna steak with chimichurri sauce. The food was all so delicious. Chips and salsa, salsa was a little spicy for me, but very flavorful. The protein bowl was huge and loved the flavors, but ended up taking half home. The steak was bomb with meat being very tender, properly cooked, and full of flavor. I think the meal was well worth it and pretty tasty. Service was pretty good too. Honestly, I would come back just to try out other items on the menu, for future trips. read more

Awesome hidden gem. The menu is wildly expansive from cheap burritos to crazy expensive steaks. You can really make it into whichever experience you'd like. I'd gotten the chicken plate, and LOVED it. Great cook on everything and really flavorful bites all around. (would have loved a spicier salsa option, tho). Ambiance is simple and open. I'm sad to give a low review. Friday night, 30 minute wait. Seemed like waiters/ waitresses were discombobulated and not sure who was doing what. Once sat, waited before taking our order, then waited an approximate 46 minutes to get our food to of our 4 orders were already cold. Yes I could have turned it away, but the vibe felt too off to do so. One of our party members got a cucumber water drink said it tasted off was more yellow than green in color. I say this to note that she ended up with a big that lasted her three almost four days to recover. It might also have been a serving of onion and cilantro that was given to her that seemed extremely soggy. Although the flavor was good, for how expensive the plates are. I'd rather take my money elsewhere. read more

This has quickly became our taco Tuesday place and I don't regret it one bit. We typically sit at the bar and have a great time with our friends. I love their grilled fish tacos, and red tacos. Oh man, this is Buckeye's newest "it girl". I am from LA and this place rivals the best of LA eateries. Technically it's a steak house but their Mexican food is second to none. We had the Birria tacos and steak tacos via the taco combo dish, it was phenomenal! The service was second to none and the ambiance was fantastic! Hack: make reservations as we got there at 4:45 and by 5:30 the place was packed in a Tuesday night!! You will not go wrong if you check out this place, trust me. From the total lack of AC in 116 AZ weather, to the $5 chips and salsa to the fatty and gristly ribeye taco to the smelly 'fresh' ceviche that I ate 2 bites of. This place is way, wAY, WAY off the beating patch from the I10 but well worth the drive. We arrived Saturday night to a busy little restaurant that had a wait of over an hour so we sat at the bar. The bartenders were super friendly and made really good drinks. The food however was delicious. The Costillitas Asadas are the best we've ever had and with going there just for those. The protein bowl and tacos were really good but those Costillitas really stood out. The wait time for our meal however was extremely long and could use improvement. We were finishing our second drink and had decided to leave. However that's when the Costillitas came out and hooked us. Our main dishes then took another long while before coming out. I still rate 5 stars due to how busy they were but upon our next visit if the wait is that long it would be worth downgrading. It was just a very long wait. read more

WOW!! If you're a small group I would highly recommend sitting at the bar for the Zack and Scott show. Zack takes his craft seriously and the cocktails prove it. The food was really good. I'm a Margarita snob. This drink is routinely screwed up , not here! A classic crisp /tart margarita made like it should be made. Wife had the spicy and I stuck with the house. Both perfect and delicious. Zack threw us a few samples of other cocktails he was serving and they were just as good. The meats were amazing too. I was looking for a new place to try near me and found this gem in Old Buckeye. The vibe was perfect. With people celebrating birthdays, couples on dates, and friends just hanging out and having a good time. Everything we ordered was so good! The queso fundido and chicharrón de ribeye were incredible starters. My fiancé and I decided to go big and ordered the tomahawk steak. It did not disappoint! The flame, the flavor, the sides... everything was a solid 10/10. I also tried the ribeye aguachile, and wow!!! that was hands down my favorite dish of the night. The meat was super tender, and the flavors were just next level. I'd honestly come back just for that! It was our first time there, and James took such good care of us. He was really attentive, patient, and helped us pick out the best dishes. To end the night, the staff surprised me by playing Las Mañanitas, bringing out a mariachi hat for me to wear, and serving a delicious churro cake with a sparkler candle. Good food, though it's hit or miss. We've been coming since it was in the Holiday Inn up on Dysart but we stopped after three visits where the food arrived burned (like charred black), or completely cold, or it was rushed and the order was wrong by a mile. We decided to try again at this new location. It was good. The ribeye tacos are really good, as are the potato tacos (try them!). Our food arrived hot and everything was good. Personally I'm not a fan of their salsas. And I think it's lame to have to separately order chips and salsa at a Mexican restaurant. Especially considering their prices are astronomical for Mexican food. And the chips and salsa are not cheap. But those are nit-picks. I'd say good overall. For me it's not anything great, and it's not a good, old, "family-style" Mexican restaurant with red plastic soda tumblers and plentiful chips and salsa. It's more of a "boutique" Mexican-inspired restaurant. Decent for sure, but the prices for me are way high for what it is (a taqueria really). Still, give it a try. I think when they're hitting on all cylinders their food is great. read more

Food was very good! My friend and both had tacos. I got the sampler taco platter and all 4 tacos were great! They served us stale chips (you have to pay for chips and salsa). The waiter quickly got a fresh warm basket of chips! And our waiter was very nice and attentive. The restaurant is in an awkward part of town. I got the taco platter, my husband got the picanha, and my son got the red tacos off the kids menu. We tried their verde and hot salsas, rice and beans. All of the food was decent, the ribeye and carne asada tacos I had were good, but none of it made me feel like I was absolutely drawn to come back. I wouldn't call any of it great. It has a darker, loud music modern vibe. The service we had from our waitress was incredibly slow, though she was friendly. A separate waitress was much more attentive to us without being ours. The one thing that I feel I could take off another star for was that we all came home smelling like campfire. I didn't notice it that much in the building but a lot of the food that tables were getting around us were delivered on fire so maybe that's normal and to be expected? But the fact that we literally had to change our clothes after we got home was kinda concerning since we had younger kids with us. read more

WOW! Dare I say the best FOOD I've ever had? Went for happy hour on a Thursday, which the happy hour deals are PHENOMENAL, and ended up coming back on Sunday. The food is fresh, hot, and authentic. You can smell the wood fired grill from the outside. The space is comfortable and the service was great, our waiter was attentive and personable. The burritos, exceptional, the barbincito which is like a tostada, delicious, the quesadilla, incredible. The chips and salsa, phenomenal. I did not expect much from this restaurant due only to its location. As soon as we walked in we were surprised with how nice the layout was but the doubt was still there. We had a very nice young waitress who told us they started in a hotel in the Goodyear/Avondale area to the new location, which made us feel better because we ate there when they opened. As soon as I tasted my steak I realized we had found a gem of a restaurant, a diamond in the rough and that more people need to know about it. We tried Barbon Asadero after seeing it mentioned on tv. The restaurant is very nice inside, and we were sat promptly. We ordered I believe queso to start. The taste was good but you only receive 4 small tortillas with the order. I usually don't eat Mexican food but chips for me would be a better option so half of the queso went to waste. My wife ordered tacos and I had the quesadillas. The food was tasty and cooked to order. The restaurant is a little pricey ,over 80 dollars for lunch. We will probably return but not for dinner as the menu prices scared us a bit. All in all a good experience, the 4 was for the prices. read more

Great New Spot in the West Valley! Came in around 8 PM with my husband and we got seated pretty quickly. We started with drinks--I had the Buckeye Sunset and he got a Modelo. Both were great and set the tone for a nice evening. We shared the ribeye chicharrón as an appetizer, and it was so good--super flavorful and crispy, definitely a highlight! For my main, I ordered the 3 red tacos with beans and rice. I would've enjoyed it even more if they had brought out some salsas to try at the table--would've been perfect for the tacos. My husband had the picana taco and the grilled Baja fish taco--he really liked both. Overall, it's a solid new addition to the West Valley. Okay!!! Buckeye is stepping up their food game for sure with this place! The taco trio and nachos were so flavorful. All the meats were cooked perfectly and the ingredients were fresh. We also tried their pineapple Agua Fresca and OMG!!!!!!! It's a must try! Our server was very friendly and spoke very highly of the restaurant. The ambience is clean and has really cute details. If I could give this restaurant zero stars, I would. We came in today after my daughter's promotion, wanting to try something new. We drive past this place often and decided to give it a chance, but the customer service was terrible. I was completely ignored. Maybe the person taking our order was new and never even submitted it, because we waited over an hour for tacos. At one point, another waiter came to our table and tried to take our order again. It was so disappointing. We ended up paying $25 for drinks and sat there for over an hour without ever getting our food. read more

Interesting environment I could say, walking in we thought it was going to be a great experience but little did we know it was going to be our worst nightmare, My mother and I stopped in to grab lunch, and we got sat all was well we placed our order, and then all was fine but then some more people walked in and got sat bigger groups i should say and this is the part where it went south, we waited 2 hours for food and were only served a portion of the food, our server wouldn't check up on us and would just mention the food is almost out, well unfortunately we ran out of time and could not wait any longer my mother flustered because she was very hungry got up and left, no form of apology was given to us for the long wait times, furthermore the bigger parties got served first and we got the first but never the less, it was the worst hospitality experience we have ever gotten, I wanted to celebrate my birthday here but I guess not anymore.
