Food is not what it used to be and that's not the reason why I'm giving 2 star. They changed the prices on food items but refuse to update the menus. This young girl was so rude when I brought to her attention. Advertised us to scan the barcode on the table that aren't even visible, I though it was an old piece of tape! We scan every barcode and NONE of them work. She continued with "we have a sign on the front counter". We get seated right away, no one is going to walk to the counter and scan invisible barcodes and expect to price check everything. This was our go to restaurant, NOT ANYMORE. read more

Sunday afternoon for lunch, we couldn't wait another day and decided to go back to this little Mexican gem we found last week. We had the Birria and decided to have and try their Carne asada tacos which were absolutely amazing. I am still thinking about it 24 hours later and I am going back as soon as I can. I have never been to a any Mexican restaurant where they give me the option of whether I want corn tortillas or flour tortillas with my street tacos. So when they gave me the option I jumped at the chance and said of course I want flour. They were so delicious, the steak was juicy and tender, it had so much flavor and it was also not burnt to a crisp. It had plenty of flavor toppings on top as well. All around everything was delicious just this week expected. Of course we will be back. We will tell everyone about their delicious food. There was different staff on this date and they were all friendly and attentive per usual. Come try them! read more

The food is great but the service and kitchen is sooooooo slow. It seems like there's legit only one or two cooks. Came here with a group and there was 8 of us around 6 or 7 pm. It wasn't too busy, Only two other small tables were there. I ordered the Tacos Dorados and my boyfriend ordered the carve asada fries. The tacos were soooooooo good, super authentic, fresh Mexican food. The carne Asada fries were also good. It took us over an hour to get our food and eat. Also, they forgot one of our persons food..they never put the order in. One thing I didn't like is that they bring each plate out one at a time. Which is nice because it's fresh but there were so many of us waiting for our food or waiting for the other person to finish their food. Overall, the food is great but service needs help. read more

My husband and I escaped the frigid temperatures of Nebraska and decided to warm up in the west valley outside of Phoenix for a few weeks. Within a one mile radius of our winter escape are a dozen Mexican restaurants offering a menu to warm up the palate. After walking by two options we settled on Mi Nietos Cocina Mexican Food located in a non descript strip mall just off of Indian School Road. COVID-19 restrictions were posted on the entry door with masks required for entry. We were greeted as we entered and given a menu for selecting our take out order. Socially distanced In house dining was available but we have been sticking to take out on this trip. We opted to share a chicken enchilada platter which included three enchiladas, beans, rice and a choice of green or red sauce (we went green.) The young lady who took our order was also covering the table service, wiping tables, and serving as the cashier. She accomplished all tasks with efficiency and a quick smile. It is a good thing that they were not overly busy or service might have been compromised. Our order arrived in under five minutes and smelled like a bag of awesomeness. It was! The portions of beans and rice were small but the enchiladas satisfied our appetites with the sides filling in the gaps. The green sauce added a bit of spice that enhanced the meal. The split portions were just the right size for our lunch meal. Parking is available at the door although current road construction on Indian School Road makes entering and exiting a bit of a challenge--but one well worth the effort. read more

I was notified Mi Nietos Cocina had great reviews and I'm always looking for new places to try. I'm very impressed with this restaurant. I had their beef enchiladas with red sauce and pork beans. It was very flavorful with just the right amount of spice. Next time I will order with some slices of jalapeños because I like spicy. The beans were excellent also. The food came out on a cast iron skillet which made for a beautiful presentation. The service was phenomenal and very friendly. Well to say the least the presentation was nice, but the food was disgusting :( the horchata had a weird flavor. The nachos were so bland! The beans bland as well, It's suppose to have chorizo but it was literally blended beans. Rice was good & birria tortillas were soft. The staff are great here. Great family running this place. It is home style cooking. There wasn't anything that really popped in flavor or style. The food is sold as authentic Mexican food. I tried to order machaca but they didn't have any. At first it was disappointment, but it turns out they bring the prepared meat from Mexico. Wish I could have tried it. The Juevos Rancheros were a bit bland and the beans were good but not a flavorful as I expected. The chilaquiles we're bit more flavor and I enjoyed them more for my wife's plate. read more

Came in a hot bowl with juice and tortillas on the side. We order 2 sushi rolls. They were ok. My daughter and ex husband got the tacos carne asada and she loved them. My son got dorado tacos and he loved them. All around good food good people but slow service. We waiting a long time for our drinks and she brought us too many. We had a waitress that started helping us and then we never saw her again. She forgot to put in one of our orders, everyone's entree came out 5-10 minutes apart. This little gem of a restaurant serves up Latin American specialties from Ecuador, Peru and Argentina. The restaurant is small and unassuming. The restaurant was busy the afternoon we dines and a wait for our entrees to arrive however, we didn't complain. The entrees at Mi Cocina are fresh and natural tasting. The ingredients are simple, but complex in flavor. The entrees are unlike your typical Mexican food restaurant loaded with cheese or heavy sauces. These aren't rays of light, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. On this visit we had tacos, gorditas, enchiladas, and and Sushi Estillo Sinaloa, and everything was delicious to the very last bite and the Agua Frescas we're so refreshing, light, and flavorful. While on my way to a nearby Thai restaurant I saw the sign that read, "Estilo Sinaloan sushi." So I decided to check out Mi Cocina Mexican Food. I learned they've only been open for a month. The staff was helpful and did not hover, which is what I prefer. I was informed that all the sushi is fried. To satiate my hunger I ordered a side of guacamole and chips while I waited for sushi. My chicken sushi rolls came out with three different sauces. One reminded me of a chipotle aioli, the other a sweet mango sauce with a hint of heat and then the third, which tasted like soy sauce with a bit of lemon. Even though fried, the sushi was not oily. The thin layer of breading was just right as was the overall texture of the sushi. The flavor was subtle, the chicken being subtly salted. The presence of the sauces helped elevate the flavor profile. I'll definitely check out Mi Cocina again when I'm in the area. The place itself is small. It's minimalist and clean. Mexican ballads played in the background which reminded me of Luis Miguel. read more

Man oh man! I happened to see a video that they posted on Facebook. It featured this platter that they just started serving. It looked so awesome! It was full of salsas, guac, mini flautas, quesadillas, nachos, this melted chili cheese combo, and these french fries that had bacon and fried hot dogs on them that were smothered in ketchup, hot sauce, and sour cream. Insane! Here's the best part... It was better than advertised! Listen, I don't take these things lightly. I don't throw recommendations around willy nilly, a place has to earn it it, and this place knocked it out of the park. Parking: Tons. It's in an unassuming strip mall in Avondale, most of the other business are closed at dinner time, so there's tons of parking. Decor: The place was beautiful. The decor was pretty traditional with all these hip little accessories and pictures. It was warm and inviting, the music playing was festive but not overwhelming. It was memorable, and that means something these days. Service: Our waitress was so friendly. She was attentive and helpful when she needed to be, and let us enjoy the meal once we got all of our food. A+ FOOD!: The menu was no joke. It was huge, and there were so many options and add-ons. The food came and a great pace. Just as we finished the bread and chips the real show began! We got started with some homemade chips and this orange salsa that I never had before, but was terrific. We also ordered this mini loaf of bread that came out warm and toasty. It also came with a mildly spicy bean spread, which my daughter and wife devoured! It was heaven. The bread was light and airy, crispy on the outside, and just pure carb nirvana. My wife and daughter aren't too adventurous, so they got the flauta platter. My wife didn't want sour cream or guac, and it was no issue. My daughter had them loaded. Both platters who huge, with fresh veggies, this crumbly cheese that took my breath away with its salty goodness, and slices of fresh avocado. The flautas were crispy on the outside but not hard or too crunchy. They meat was tender and well seasoned. It didn't burn out your mouth, and even people that aren't into heat would have liked them, especially with the salsas and sour cream that came with it! I had the "Galli-loco" which was the above mentioned platter. The salsas where very different (red and orange) but both had great flavor without blowing your taste buds out with heat. The guacamole was chunky, lemony, and perfect. The flautas (mini) were just as good as the full sized ones, the steak quesadilla was jam packed with meat, pan fried to crispy cheesy perfection, and the cheesy chili pot was dope as hell. It was just melted cheese that had what tasted like chili mixed in! I mean, how can that be wrong?! The nachos were simple, but that's what made it great, they were the perfect accompaniment to everything else on the plate! My family was mixing and matching flavors, and having a great time doing it! Last, the platter also had something I'd never seen before, I don't know the name of it because I'm an ignorant gringo, but let me tell you, it was my favorite! It was crispy french fries topped with fried hot dogs, bacon, hot sauce, ketchup, and sour cream. Price: My family of three is pretty, ummm, let's say "husky" and we left stuffed, with take home boxes, and all for just over $50 including tip. Although, I think my wife may have under tipped, something I'll have to fix the next time we go, which will be soon! A+ on all levels. read more

The service on the other hand was pretty slow and waiter we received didn't really seem so enthusiastic to serve us. Really straight forward. Kinda dampers the experience. I finally cancelled my order after 35 minutes, everyone else had their food, but it was served at 5-10 minute intervals. -Chips and Salsa served, about 15 chips for a table of 5 people. -drinks served intermittently -food served at odd intervals -cancelled Sinaloa Sushi after 35 minutes. Lots of apologizing, but no indication that there would be an extended order time for this. -we could only find very faint remnants of any kind of meat on 3 different orders. Only potato and very large mounds of shredded lettuce on everything. No difference in flavor or filling from different items. I really don't understand how this place has a 4.7 star rating - it is the worst food experience I have had in Phoenix in 2 years. Maybe people really like potatoes boiled in beef broth? read more

The tortillas de harina tasted amazing, loved everything about this place. Needs more recognition. The atmosphere, the food, the employees everything was great about. Not one negative thing to say. I also had an order of beans with pork and they were also really good. The salsa that they give you to dip your chips is really spicy and had great flavor.
