My family and I wanted his location for a celebration. We love the food and the service. We just wish they had combos available for cost-effective reasons and for family size of four or more. We love the steak, queso tacos, and the regular steak tacos with rice and beans. Wow! I think I've found my new favorite Mexican restaurant!!! Tacos Chilango is a casual Mexican restaurant in the Fry's shopping center on Dysart road in Avondale. We met our son and daughter-in-law here for lunch after listening to them rave about it for several weeks. Our son loves birria tacos and he loves these. Our daughter-in law had the carne asada tacos and enjoyed them. They have some dishes I haven't seen before: Machete and Huaraches. My wife and I decided to try the Huaraches. She had chicken and I had carnitas. They were amazing! Huaraches have flat, slightly thicker than normal oblong blue corn tortilla base. The beans, meat, Fresca cheese and cojita cheese are on top. There is mozzarella and lettuce on the side. I went to the salsa bar. They keep everything refrigerated and ask you to keep the lid closed when you're not using it. There was a good selection of salsas and other toppings. I selected cilantro/onion and two different green salsas. After preparing everything, I dug in. The meat had a light smokiness that really set the dish apart. I will be back. read more

My son ordered a burrito and a CHICKEN quesadilla. The young lady who answered the phone did not understand or misunderstood the order. She entered burrito and CHEESE quesadilla....She also do not ask for a name for the order so when I got there, she asked me to read off the items, when I kept trying to give her my name she kept saying, what was the order not the name....When I called to inform her of the error there was no accountability taken. She just kept going back and forth with me about she heard quesadilla so she thought it was a cheese quesadilla. The only resolution provided to fix this problem was pay the difference for the chicken and they'll put it on the side!! I asked for a manager she said no manager is there just staff only.... How ridiculous!!! This place used to be my favorite place not anymore. One mistake like this can lose a great customer for good. We have now made repeated visits to Tacos Chilango, and it has proved far better than my first experience. I was hesitant to return after a somewhat lackluster birria on my first visit. My second and subsequent visits, however, were a much improved. 1. Try the shrimp queso taco. Just trust me. 2. My husband got a few tacos (regular tacos are "street" sized, queso tacos are larger) and was floored by the asada and al pastor. He spent 2 years eating authentic Mexican cooking, and this is the flavor he's been missing ever since. Highly recommend. 3. The aguas frescas are fantastic--watermelon is my favorite, but the cantaloupe (melón) and hibiscus are also tasty. My daughter loves their horchata. Honorable mention to the quesadillas and huaraches (similar to tostadas with toppings). This is our go-to taco shop, these days. Glad I gave it another chance. read more

When I got home my burrito was mostly filled with beans and rice and very little meat. I had cut the burrito in half and measured the meat and it barely filled a measuring cup 1/3 full. I couldn't believe my eyes. I called the manager who told me everything is measured. I told her I'm going back to Oscar's taco where a burrito is filled with just the meat, for only 50 cents more. I wanted to like this place, but it just didn't work for me. They were pretty busy, which mean it was LOUD (not their fault really), but it kinda chaotic, regardless. Four of us ate, all liked the food well enough, but nobody was blown away. I had the Campechano, which would have been good, but the chorizo was really dominant. Kinda just all tasted like MEAT. I was really bored of it by the end. Bonus points for the salsa bar. I have got to shoutout this place for putting me on to the machete ! If you didn't know , it's a massive taco with cheese corn tortilla , and filled with juicy flavorful meat . I always do half and half with birria and carne asada, and it never fails ! I recommend this to all my Airbnb guests because it's just reliably good and fresh . I've been coming to this place since it opened and always loved it, but after our last visit, I'm not sure we'll be back. On Sunday evening, we had one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever had here. The young woman working up front was rude, dismissive, and made it very clear she didn't want to help us. When I asked simple questions about menu items, she gave us the infamous "Gen Z stare," rolled her eyes, and acted like we were wasting her time. I still thanked her for her help, but instead of acknowledging us, she shoved the receipt at us without saying a single word. The second we walked away, she started laughing and joking with her coworkers. This is unacceptable. Cashiers are the face of the business, and if customers can't even ask questions without being met with eye rolls and an attitude, it leaves a terrible impression. We've always supported this spot, but that kind of service makes us question whether it's worth coming back. read more

Decided to stop in at their newest location in Buckeye. Place is jam packed and super small. The line is consistent in this place and there is barely enough room to walk around and walk to even place your order or to get to your table. It's as if the tables were pushed closer together to make room for more seating. We were a party of three adults and two children and sat at a high top table, perfectly. The food: We placed an order for a variety of tacos and meat, bean and cheese burrito, and a Birria machete. We ordered aguas to drink: horchata and jamaica. The Al pastor was good and flavorful. The asada on the other hand had a puddle of oil settling with the meat and the tortilla was soaking it all up. The machete was huge and definitely enough to share and or split. The cabeza and Birria was good and flavorful. The jamaica was flavorless and we were drinking colored water. The service: Man of zero stars was possible....so sad to see this is how others have had the same experience and yet they have failed to address it. Once you place your order the worker comes out to your table with your order. This person literally threw the plates on the table. So disgraceful and disrespectful. They brought more food to the table and we let them know if wasn't ours and they continued to say it was after everyone already had their food. Okay ... guacamole delish Salsa - all three were delish. Everything was great per my hubby and my best friend. She had a cheese quesadilla and my husband had the Queso Tacos and refried beans .. the beans were amazing. When I asked the guy who brought the food to the table if they had silverware for some reason he looked annoyed but brought me the knife and fork. Then he was asked for another plate as the mens tacos were all on the same plate and they didn't know whose were whose. When asked for the plate he went to get it and by the time he brought it back, they had started dating and didn't need it... he again, gave a bit of a dirty look. My friends hubby said "I think he just gave me a dirty look" I said "I'm sure he did as I got the same look" I think he was the owner, the fact that my face cannot hide my feelings is something I can relate to him So I don't know if I'm upset with him or want to be his friend. I had a chicken quesadilla and the chicken was awful. It was hard and I had to keep taking pieces out of my mouth. Last time I was in the area this location wasn't open so today I decided to stop by and try them out. Is there anyone in this world who can say no to a Quesabirria taco? Not me anyway. I was pleased to see it was pretty busy inside. While small, it has a good amount of seating and smells amazing inside. We took a moment to look over the menu and decided on four Quesabirria tacos and a cheese quesadilla. They have two sizes of Quesadilla so I ordered a medium. We were greeted right away and our order taken. We were given a number and told they'd bring it out to us when ready. Everything arrived so fast and looked amazing. They have salsa bar with multiple salsas, cucumbers, onions and cilantro and such. The green salsa was awesome! The consommé had great flavor and adding the cilantro and onion made it even better. Our tacos were full of meat and cheese amazing. Thank goodness I ordered the smaller quesadilla because the tacos were so filling. We really enjoyed everything and will definitely be back. I'm a taco fan and I've been eying this place for a while. I happened to be at a store nearby and went in for lunch after I finished my shopping. I ordered the carne asada taco and el pastor quesadilla, size medium, which they call the Gringa. While waiting I gathered all my taco condiments at the condiment bar. They had cabbage, limes and 3 salsa options. I only tried the crema salsa, it was the one that looked like most people chose. It was extremely tasty. Service was fast! The portions and meat ratios fantastic for the price. I loved the crispy char on the carne. And the marinade on the steak was excellent. My quesadilla had a 90 percent meat to cheese ratio. Not complaining at all! I was just in shock how much meat was on there. The El Pastor was moist and flavorful with a nice little kick to it. The restaurant is not full service. You order, take a seat and wait. But they did have a full bar area you could sit at and order drinks from. There were lots of T'V's, I presume for sports days. I'm giving this place my best taco's in the West Valley stamp of approval. The restaurant was also very busy at 11 am. The flavors, the textures, the meats are so thoughtfully crafted to give you a delicious meal. The meats are grilled fresh daily over mesquite wood and it shows. You have to try the al pastor tacos (served on a flour tortilla) and pineapple, don't forget to add cilantro & onions! Not much nuance here, but the al pastor is so much juicier (and fattier) than the al pastor I usually get from my local Mesa taco shop, which I've occasionally found to be dry. The interior and atmosphere inside is chill and cheery, super casual. Chilangos is worth a visit not just because of its tacos and micheladas, but because it's a solid taqueria overall.
