    Pozole

I live in the area and decided to try this place out. The customer service was awesome, very friendly and nice people. Their quesadillas are delicious. They come with pico, lettuce along with guac and sour cream. & they a good size! I got the pozole. Great flavor pozole. They do have bones in it though and I noticed it had a different type of meat in it as well which I didn't like because it looked like menudo meat, and I just don't like that kind. But besides that, the size is great and so is the flavor, kinda wish there was more hominy in it too, but it was still good. They give you a side of cabbage, onions, salsa and cilantro. In all I like this place and will be coming back here.

First time coming to this place and it didn't disappoint. Food was delicious and prices are fair. Tasted quite a different items: al pastor/adobada burrito, cabeza, carne asada, and chicharon tacos. The winner was definitely the Al Pastor meat. It was pcked with flavor and really reminded me of the flavor you would get in Mexico City. Dont be afraid of the looks, its a hole in the wall but more like a local and humble restaurant. Service was friendly and they also have pan dulce. I will definitely be back for the el pastor

Pancho Taqueria is awesome. Not only was there food very good, their service was incredible. I really wish I had the name of the guy working the register because he was remarkably friendly and helpful. If this place was located closer to my house, I would probably be a regular. Okay, so I tried a carne asada torta, a tripas taco and a couple bites of the al pastor. The torta was on par with some of the better tortas I've had in the past. I can't compare it to Los Reyes or anything because it's simply carne asada, salad and sauce (unlike the craziness at Los Reyes), but I can say, "Wow!" I've always wanted to be more adventurous with tacos so I got tripas. DON'T GET TRIPAS! Haha! Not Pancho's fault, but mine. I've come to the realization that I don't like fried bone marrow on my tacos. And, as far as the al pastor, it was good, but not authentic according to my girlfriend. One day we will find authentic al pastor in Phoenix. One day... If you're in on the west side during the day and want some cheap and delicious Mexican food, give Pancho Taqueria a shot. It's good.

After reading the reviews from Faith and Thomas, I decided to stop by at this place because it's really close by to my pad. I was greeted by a guy when I walked in and he showed some of their display of meals. He was very helpful as to answer my questions for descriptions of their food. I decided to order the Family Meal of 20 taquitos that came with beans, rice, chips and salsa. Also orders carne asada burrito and horchata. The horchata was just okay, it wasn't bad, just not the best that I've had. The taquitos were alright, but if you add on the lime and hot sauce...it's delicious! The beans were a bit salty, but good. The rice was just wonderful. The burrito was great and they put a good amount of carne asada in the filling. I really wanted to try their panderia section, but I came here for dinner and decided that I should just visit next time in the morning when it's more fresh, but I must admit, when someone passed by with their tray of pastries...oh man...was I tempted! It smelled so GOOD!!! Overall, a great experience and would definitely come by again!

The place I have been looking for!!! New to area my new go to spot. Asada fresh with good grilled cooked flavor.

Size comparison between taquitos and typical salsa containers. They are two containers long.

The food is really good but the restaurant is very little. Instead of just tortilla chips you get chips covered in fried beans and cheese.

So you come in the side door to the dining room . Wait staff all greet you and guide you to the dining room, festooned with roses and talavera tiles. It's not kitschy, just gorgeous. The restaurant is inside of an old brick home with wood interior and warm colors. The service was good-- friendly and food came out at a good pace, we were checked on regularly. We ordered an appetizer and then entrees from the lunch menu. The aguachile appetizer is SO good. It's bright, fresh, and has a lot of flavor in the green sauce. It reminds me of a ceviche type dish due to its raw butterflied shrimp that is marinated in the house made chile serrano & cilantro citrus sauce. It was awesome. We were also given free chips & house made bean dip. I ordered the mixed two item plate with a chile rellano and taco corazon (grilled taco dipped in a red chile sauce, stuffed with shredded beef & melted cheese. Topped with grilled onions). The black beans and rice is also tasty. I tried a bite of the other dishes, and I also really liked the brightly colored spinach & cheese enchiladas with pink sauce ( signature beet sauce). I look forward to trying other items from the menu, I was eyeing the steak Mexicano or red snapper. Those dishes sound good for dinner.

Out of all the restaurants I had before leaving Arizona, THIS ended up being one of the places I couldn't stop thinking about after I moved away. Ever since leaving, I've randomly craved these tacos constantly. I've tried other taco spots in Denver hoping something would compare, but honestly nothing really hit the same. So when I came back out to Phoenix recently to visit some friends, this was one of the first places I knew I needed to come back to because I had built it up so much in my head over time. And somehow... it was just as good again. The meat tastes incredibly fresh, flavorful, and well-seasoned, and you can literally watch them prepare everything right in front of you, which makes the whole experience even better. There's something so satisfying about seeing the tacos being made fresh instead of food just appearing from the kitchen. You can tell they care about quality and consistency. The servers were also super friendly and welcoming both times I came here, which honestly makes such a difference. Everyone had great energy, the service was quick, and the whole place just feels inviting and authentic. I honestly think the fact that I remembered this place so vividly for so long says everything. Usually when you revisit a restaurant after hyping it up in your head for years, it ends up disappointing you. But this place tasted exactly how I remembered it, fresh, flavorful, comforting, and absolutely worth the obsession. Safe to say this place is officially a mandatory stop for me anytime I'm back in Phoenix now.

Also bring a group. The portions are huge and the food is clearly meant to be shared. Trust me on this one, bring friends. I've tried a bunch of dishes here, and there are a few I always go back to. For the table, Camarones Locos is an easy choice. The flame grilled shrimp comes out hot and full of flavor, perfect for passing around. La Patrona ceviche tower is massive and worth the order. When it hits the table, you immediately feel good about the decision. El Pulpazo is technically an entrée, but we always order it as a shareable. The octopus is grilled perfectly and it comes with rice and beans, so everyone gets a little of everything. For entrées, my number one pick is the Lobster and Crab Enchiladas with green sauce. I think about this dish at least once a week. The enchiladas are packed with lobster and crab, and the green sauce ties the whole thing together. Honestly, I could talk about this place all day. This review is for the totality of the experience…read more I made an advance reservation at Alma Scottsdale for a mid-sized group of 7 to celebrate a special occasion. Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.
