La Mejor Barbacoa is a Mexican Restaurant located just outside of Old Town Glendale. The specialty of the house is the Lamb Barbacoa (BBQ) but they also offer a Taco Plate, Cured Meat Platter, Pozole Verde (pork soup), Huaraches (open LONG flat corn cake tortillas with toppings), long Quesadillas (some squash blossom, corn smut), Menudo, Caldo de Rez (beef vegetable soup) and Many Mexican Desserts. This is a casual restaurant. You seat yourself and someone runs a menu over and takes your order. This isn't a fancy place but it appears to be spotless. It looks like it might have been a banquet hall at one time. I tried the Huitlacoche (corn smut) Quesadilla. I received a very long nicely grilled quesadilla stuffed with lots of earthy huitlacoche, melty mild white cheese and two types of corn. It was very tasty. The house made green sauce went really yummy with this quesadilla. My husband got the Bisteck Huaraches. He received a very long sort of open tortilla like corn cake filled with refried beans, green sauce, crumbling cheese and super tasty caramelized steak. It was VERY GOOD! Service was great! Everything was delicious, portions were very large and everything was very reasonably priced. Really really good!

    OMG GREAT POZOLE!

In a word HUITLACOCHE! It's wonderful, if you haven't tried it, you should. It's hard to find so I was elated when I saw La Major Barbacoa served it. Yum yum yum! The Green Pozole is just out of this world good. The chichiron on top is a terrific bonus. I also cannot say enough about the staff. Just absolutely terrific people. Kind, inviting, and attentive. This is my go to spot for authentic Mexico City from now on!

Everything we ate was awesome. The Barbacoa was great, fresh tortillas, and good service.

Put your name in at reception and you were taken back usually after a small weight. We didn't have to wait yesterday. The servers are really friendly and checked on a frequently refilling hubs soda a few times without him having to ask. Our waitress also brought us an extra bowl of spicy salsa because she saw we had eaten all of it. Just brought us another basket of hot and chips. On our first visit, I got enchiladas and instead of rice and on the side I decided to choose their potatoes. The potatoes are so delicious. I love them, and I will look forward to these again when we return. Today we ordered: - Coke - Diet Coke (no Coke Zero here) - NACHOS GRANDE - Tortilla chips, cheddar & Monterey Jack cheese, sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, jalapeños. Choose seasoned ground beef, slow-roasted chicken or refried beans, or for an extra dollar, substitute fire-grilled steak or chicken fajita. I chose the chicken fajita protein topping. I ordered this for an entrée, but it would be a really good appetizer for 3 to 6 people. It's almost like cheese crisps, halved, with lots of melted cheese and a small amount of meat on each tortilla half. In the center there are toppings. I enjoyed the pickled jalapeños because they weren't extra hot. This hit my comfort food spot. I wasn't able to eat the whole thing so it was so big, but it was exactly what I was looking for. - THE GRANDE COMBINATION - Beef, chicken, cheese enchiladas, cheese chile relleno, tamale, crispy beef taco, guacamole. This combination is HUGE! Even the plate is grande. Absorbed this, and I think his eyes were larger than his stomach. He filled up on the beans and the rice, the chile relleno, and the taco. He got to take three enchiladas and a tamale for dinner the next night. A very nice tasty plate. Complementary chips and three types of salsa are brought to the table. Of the salsas, one is a red sauce that is mild, one is a pineapple tomatillo, and one is a spicier red salsa. The chips are nice and fresh and thin and brought to the table warm. Men's and women's restroom near the entrance for customers.

Probably not going back to Dick's…read more.. We were visiting both Phoenix and Scottsdale with friends and decided to meet up at Dick's Hideaway for dinner after hearing good things. There were six of us, and we were quoted a 45-minute wait, which seemed reasonable at first. However, their system for managing waits is honestly pretty frustrating. There are no reservations, no text notifications, and no call when your table is ready. You're basically left hovering and guessing. We did make it back in time for our table, but a simple "hey, your table's ready" system would go a long way in making guests feel valued. We were seated around 8 PM after waiting and taken to a large corner booth in the back. Unfortunately, there were still two people from the previous party lingering at the table even after they had paid and the rest of their group had already left. I understand finishing drinks, but it felt inconsiderate given how busy the restaurant was and how long people were waiting. After being seated, it took about 15 minutes before anyone came to our table, and even then, not everyone in our group was acknowledged right away. Things didn't improve much from there. It took over 30 minutes just to place our food order. From what we could tell, there was only one server handling the entire restaurant. I can definitely empathize with how difficult that must be, but at the same time, when we first arrived, she appeared to be standing near the entrance rather than actively managing tables, which added to the confusion. When the food finally came out, it was very staggered instead of arriving together. I ordered the Taos tenderloin with green beans and fries. The sides were actually great--probably the highlight of the meal--but the steak itself was disappointing. I ordered it medium, but it came out with an overly charred, almost burnt crust that completely overpowered the flavor. The whole dish really needed basic seasoning like salt and pepper to bring it together. The atmosphere also didn't do much to help the experience. It's extremely dark inside--so much so that it's hard to see your food--and the space feels cramped. The layout is also pretty strange and honestly a bit off-putting. There's what appears to be a kitchen area right behind the bar, and then a full kitchen in the back--but what really stood out was the lack of separation near the restroom area. There's no proper door between the kitchen and the bathroom space, and from a small step down off the dining area, you can basically see straight into the kitchen if you wanted to. It just didn't feel very private or well thought out. Another thing that stood out was the portion sizes. While some people might see that as a positive, they were honestly too large--especially for those of us traveling who couldn't take leftovers with us. Slightly smaller portions might not only reduce waste but also help the kitchen keep up with demand and improve overall service speed. Overall, this ended up being more of a one-time experience than a place we'd return to. Between the disorganized wait system, slow and inconsistent service, and underwhelming food, it just didn't live up to the expectations we had going in.

They packed a nice serving of complimentary chips! Which was a nice surprise and such a treat because they were still warm when they arrived! Where do they make home made chips anymore!!!! This made me so happy. Okay but there's more! They also packed a dipping size salsa, two guacamole & two sour cream (which I forgot to request). My takeaway is this: the food on delivery was phenomenal! I will be going right back sometime soon! Only next time I need to experience this in person! Definitely recommend! Five stars
