Located just south of the Oak Valley Center (Waters and Ann Arbor-Saline Rd.) Recently renovated space that is clean and modern looking. Nice outdoor seating (but we chose to eat inside because it was a hot day). Our booth for two was comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient. We loved how they bring a carafe of coffee to the table. No waiting!!! Our food was excellent! I had the chili chorizo omelette. (See picture.) Just a little spicy - just right. I loved the little salad (lightly dressed) and the rustic bread. My companion had the healthy turkey omelette. She said it was very good. First Watch is definitely my favorite bunch place to go to. It doesn't matter which one you go to, they all turn out amazing. I've been to multiple locations and it is always a win. I had the Brooklyn breakfast sandwich, which is a seasonal item, so I've never tried it before. Absolutely amazing, ordered it with the potatoes and a side of million dollar bacon. The million dollar bacon is always a must if you are a bacon eater. First Watch, by far, has the best bacon I've ever had, as long as it's million dollar bacon. Sweet, spicy, crispy and cooked just right. Never fails. We went in on a random Tuesday around 10 AM, was given a seat right away with no wait. The waitress was super friendly and helpful, very attentive. The ambience is always smooth and mellow unless it's the weekend which is understandably busy, but service never lacks. Booth style sitting facing the window was perfect since it had started to snow. We were able to watch the scenery while enjoying breakfast. The food came out within an appropriate amount of time, hot and delicious. I have zero complaints. Like I said, First Watch is always a hit anytime I go, definitely my favorite brunch spot, hands-down. read more

I was eagerly anticipating the arrival of this brunch joint. I came early on a Sunday , the morning after a home U of M football game. I was greeted right away and seated by the friendly staff. I noticed the spacious, rustic and modern decor right away, which was nice. The menu is extensive, with many unique options. I opted for the purple haze drink, which was delicious. It's a lemonade with butterfly pea powder and a hint of lavender. It came with a biodegradable straw, too! I chose the classics eggs Benedict, which was a mistake. I must preface this by saying that I've been spoiled by eating the gold standard from the Clarkston Union. The English muffin was not burned, yet had an odd hardness to it. The ham was very thin and not very flavorful and the Hollandaise was similarly light . It was accompanied by a large mound of lemon- dressed salad greens, which was a nice complement. I'm still hopeful about this place and will return to try one of the more unique options. read more

We sat the bar and had horrible service. Had to sit at the dirty bar for over 10 minutes before we even got a menu when there were only 6 other people at the bar. After we got our food it took several minutes to get any silverware. Food was ok but not worth going out for breakfast food here when there are better places in Ann Arbor. We had to close out at the front desk instead of being able to pay at our seats which is annoying. After we left I realized that the lady cashing us out added an extra $15 tip that I never agreed to. I will not be going back unless this place changes and hires in new servers that can do their job better. read more

Great food! I visited here for the first time this weekend. I ordered the traditional breakfast with the Belgian waffle and a side of gravy and biscuits. The waffles came with fluffy butter and berry compote. They also have a special going on pancakes with cinnamon chips I was also eyeing. Hoping to try this next time! The biscuit was delightfully fluffy and gravy delicious! It was rich without being overpowering and stiff and was loaded with tasty sausage bits. Before I even walked into the restaurant I was greeted by a very nice gentleman who opened the door for me, he welcomed myself and another customer. I was seated immediately, during a busy lunch rush. After sitting down, I was immediately greeted by a very friendly waitress, she brought water and coffee. The coffee here is delicious. I ordered the " pick two " ham and gruyere sandwich and the pecan salad, also a cup of broccoli cheddar soup. Everything was so fresh and delicious!! All of the staff was so friendly and attentive. The manger was so friendly and professional. She came by to say hi and make sure that I liked my food. What a warm and welcoming environment they've created in just 1 week of being open. I love First Watch!! It has a great atmosphere and outdoor seating. The food is gourmet but priced better than your local Coney Island. While they need more staff, the waitstaff they have are outstanding! So friendly and calm under pressure. Ryan has been my server twice and made me feel so welcome. We have been to First Watch a half a dozen times since they opened. The food is good but service was always slow. The first couple of times we chalked it up to the place being new but the thing is they never got better. In fact, things have gotten even worse. What can you expect? You can check in online or walk in, which one you choose doesn't matter as it always takes at least 30 minutes to an hour. You will wait in a super cramped area, being in the way of everybody. When you do get seated, the food will take another 30 minutes to an hour to get out, not everything will come out together. If you need something, good luck getting a hold of your waiter or anyone for that matter. The good news is when you do talk to someone, they are usually polite but in the end, it's not worth burning 3 hours+ every time just to have brunch. read more

For a new restaurant in Ann Arbor and a chain this was not bad buttt some of the menu items are not great. The arugula side salad had a very heavy dressing that was too acidic. The soup was the best part of the meal as the bacon had too much maple syrup and the BLTE had little flavor. However, the juices are the star of the show. Why must one even give a single star when the service is so wretched?!? Decent ambiance to draw one in. Menu contains a wide variety of things from breakfast to soups & sandwiches. Service is horribly slow - to the point one could watch grass grow faster. Personal experience - we were seated relatively quickly. Waited about 10 min for our server to materialize. Ordered drinks which took another 10 min to be brought out. We ordered. 35 min pass and one person's order finally arrived at the table. Another 12 min and we flag our waitperson down asking where the other meal is. Naturally, the explanation is they're very busy and the kitchen is behind. A few more minutes pass and half of the other dish ordered arrived at the table. The other half of the latter meal arrived in a to-go bag as we were walking out the door. The food was good but the service was bad. It's a brand new restaurant so I'm not supper surprised. Place is very clean, light, and airy. We were seated and waited, and waited, and waited. Then after flagging down the host, our server sauntered over. She took our drink and food order right away. Then some of the food came. My toast was "still in the toaster" (how hard can this be?) and my wife's eggs didn't come out. When the toast came out, we asked about the eggs. The server went over to the point of sale system and never went to the kitchen. Unsurprisingly, we never got our eggs. She was surprised when we asked for the check and we never got our eggs. (How on earth could she have been surprised?!?!?) Basically the server never hustled, and wasn't on her game. If I could give a half start I would. Me and my girlfriend were seated at 11:26 and ordered our food immediately (11:30). Didn't get our food until 12:23, waitress was MIA for at least 30 mins, once we got the food my girlfriends side bacon order wasn't included so we said forget it because we didn't want it to take another 20 mins for bacon. Keep in mind, there were 3 tables that were seated 10 mins after us ( 2 couples and 1 table of 4) who all received their food before us, were able to finish their breakfast and pay before we even got our food. I asked the waitress if something happened in the kitchen, her explanation was the kitchen was backed up... I then informed her of the tables that were seated and almost finished eating and she said "yeah idk about that". Manager/waitress gave a $20 gift card for the inconvenience which I assumed I could apply to my bill. Little to find out when I checked out, this gift card could only be applied for my next meal at first watch... I informed them I would never be returning so please keep this gift card as I would just throw it away. Terrible manager at this location the way they handled this situation. French toast was very average, and took another 5 mins to get syrup. Again, I would never come back to this terrible establishment, it is highly overrated, over priced, and they don't seem to care about our wait whatsoever. read more

Updating to say I love this place and wish it was open all day. My only complaint is that they have (on many occasions) forgot to include items when I order carry out. The last time it was both of my green juices, my biscuits and gravy and our potatoes so I called. They said they would refund me but never did. They have the same people checking in as they do cashing people out so complete confusion regarding who is next to be handled.. the checking in person or the cashing out person. Everyone in line was confused. 15 minute wait and a total of one hour to be served. The waitress was fine but the food was, in some cases, uneatable. Eggs were overdone, pancake was cold and hard. Way overpriced for what we received. Hope they can regroup as the atmosphere is nice and location is great. Ann Arbor's demand for a good breakfast spot outstrips the few that exist. The store in Ann Arbor has been open about 2 weeks according to our server. It was fairly busy when we arrived but were seated promptly. Our server was very friendly and attentive. I had "The Works" omelet where the main taste seemed to be their bacon, it was scrumptious. I was a little surprised by the mound of lettuce which accompanied the toast and the omelet. My friend had a blueberry pancake and was glad that she only ordered one because it was huge. The coffee kept coming and on the whole it was a great experience. I will be back. read more

I would highly recommend avoiding this First Watch location. At app claims a 15min wait, then you check in and wait 25 more min. Once seating you wait about 15min to order and 60 min for your food to come out. The waiters are nice enough but everyone looks like they have no idea what's going on or what their jobs are. They are understaffed and over booked and it makes for an extremely bad experience. This is the only location we have experienced this issue. read more

We had gotten hooked on First Watch during our visits to Fort Collins, Colorado. We finally had our chance today to try the new, FW here in Ann Arbor. The people were friendly except for the young lady at the counter when we paid. She made us feel like an annoyance when her first words to us were, "You can put your card in," as she pointed to the card reader. I had the Farmhouse Skillet Hash and except for the cold burnt potatoes; hard, dry toast, with a cold glob of butter; undercooked scrambled eggs and luke warm coffee, it was great. My husband, the bacon lover, was less than thrilled with his very undercooked bacon and cardboard hard waffle. The staff were trying, but a few smiles would have helped a lot. We hope they get things figured out, but for now, Mark's Midtown is still our go to. read more

FW came highly recommended, so I was excited to try it. Was seated fairly quickly at about 90 minutes prior to close - so they were slowing down for the day. I sat for at least 25 minutes with servers all over the place, working ever so hard to look anywhere but at my table. Entirely ignored. Finally, the hostess asked me what I wanted and took my order. She was very apologetic. I saw the waiter for the first time when he brought the order. Wonder if he had a habit of disappearing and his co-workers had enough and stopped covering for him. To their credit, my meal was comped, no "gift card for a future visit." However, I will never return. The food wasn't worth writing home about and is overpriced. This is the worst restaurant experience in my life, which is saying something based on my age. read more

Have had good experience at the Tucson location, not so at Ann arbor. Roast beef with havarti sandwich is a loser. No trace of horseradish, sandwich was cold and blah. Wait person advised room temp sandwich is intentional...not a strong presentation. Vegetable soup which was to be substituted for greens was downright cold. Meal came with greens so soup was an up charge, I chalked that up to waitperson error. My wife's frittata was excellent as were the seasoned potatoes. Carafe of coffee @ $4.69 is overkill for majority of patrons...but whaddya you going to do when server folks are hard to come by. And $3.69 for soda drinks (including refills) is a bit steep especially when they completely fill your glass with ice. If I ever return to this location, I'll stick with the breakfast menu. read more

I loved that they left a carafe of coffee for us. The menu is pretty extensive with good healthy options and interesting choices. The eggs were warm, but the rest of the food was stone cold. The toast wasn't exactly toasted, and it was soggy. The avocado was salty, and the crab - not sure it was real crab, tasteless. My guests said his eggs tasted and looked like they were powdered. His potatoes were very salty.
