We used them for our move from irving to lewisville & it looks like we'll be using this company again soon! They were very professional at the time of our move, although they were running behind they kept in contact with me all the way. When they arrived we basically had everything packed so they literally just moved things onto the truck and into our new place. They really did care about your items, we have a few heavy pieces and each was wrapped or guarded and jointly lifted to and from the moving truck. Honestly we moved far quicker than expected. Moving is extremely difficult & stressful, but they were so helpful and made it easy on us. 10/10 recommend. Xo. read more

This was my second time to use First Step Moving. I also recommended them to a former boss of mine who was very pleased with their services. The team called to let me know what time they would arrive - within a 10-minute window. They were very careful with my things, wrapped them well, and let me know about an issue with the W/D water connection in my old home. They were friendly and professional and I didn't see them take a break in 3 hours. The owner was also very helpful when I had to make changes to my moving date and to my destination. The worst movers I have ever seen in my life.. The manager/owner has NO respect to customers or taking responsibility to any damage they do during the movement. For a task of 2-3 hrs max, these guys ended up working 6 hours by dismantling things and have no brain how to reassemble spending MORE hours and charging a huge money from customer. I would never recommend these movers to anyone who has more things in their house to move. These guys are going to suck your money. read more

Great moving experience! This is the second time I've used First Step Moving, and it was the right decision. Everything is done exactly right, from the first communication all the way through easy payment. I worked with more than one person booking the move, and the service was the same throughout. Christy, the owner, was involved, too. Booking was easy. The rate is very fair, and what I paid was exactly what I expected to pay. They sent me an email a few days in advance with tips and info on how to pay, with several easy options. The crew leader called me when they were on their way, and they were right on time. Three guys--this is the best way to do it. They worked so hard and so fast and with such efficiency. And it was sooooo hot, but there wasn't one complaint. I moved with this company recently on May 27 and they had 4 people moving me did run late but gave me a discount and movers were very polite and courteous and knew what they were doing. I needed to move from my storage into my new place and of course I wanted to use them again because my first experience went well. So they were supposed to arrive at 1:00 and called me with the ETA of no later than 1:10. So I waited and finally decided to call at 1:45 to find out what was taking so long. They told me that they had a flat which was the same excuse they told me on my last move. They arrived at 2:26 with two guys instead of the 3 I was told and the manager stated she would discount me at a total of 150 hourly. I could tell that one of the guys moving had no clue what he was doing because I had to interject as well as the other mover to direct him on how to place boxes and ect. So upon finally moving everything out of my storage unit snd moving into my place I had asked them to place my tv on the stand do it would not fall. When the newby brought in my tv I was on another room and he sat in on the floor and it ended up falling and destroyed my 60 inch tv. They called there boss and she stated I could file a claim to receive compensation. I called left messages and finally someone from management stated that they were busy in the field and if I emailed them they would get back with me the following day. So next day comes nothing. I call and no one has answered or given me any updates regarding my broken tv not the terrible customer service. I basically ended up helping the mover because one of the movers was so incompetent. Do not use this company!!!!! They do not follow up and only care about the money. So this company actually made good on their word and did end up giving me most of the money back for my move and did apologize for the experience I had and are willing to discount me in the future. First of all... I let most of the nonsense slide until today. We hired a 3 man team to move from Corinth to Lantana. Our official move date was 3/17/19. First irritation - I inquired about their packing services when asking for a quote. Arrived without packing supplies. Fine - I never confirmed that was needed, nor was I asked either. Second - they rolled my dresser down the stairs. Like end over end creating deep scratches on the top and sides. This furniture was purchased and assembled in the bedroom they moved it from by the delivery men from original store. Meaning we never moved that furniture. Ever. They did. And it certainly didn't have scratches on it. I let that go because stuff happens when you move and I already had touch up stuff with me to minimize the visibility of scratches. Third - they literally lost one box of my sons clothes. Like the whole thing is gone. I packed it and watched them roll the box down the stairs. Luckily he had enough clothes and I replaced most of it. Fourth - they put the master bedroom mattress and box spring on the frame like it was together. They laid the wood slats across the frame without screwing them back in. They moved the frame without unscrewing it entirely in one section which is now broken. We noticed because part of the bed broke last night from being slept on repeatedly without being assembled properly. They never told us it wasn't assembled. Someone could've seriously been injured. I'm so disgusted. I work full time as an Accounting Manager, am a parent to 3 boys, a wife, and am in the process of obtaining my CPA... I don't have time for this incompetence. I hired what I thought were professionals to help my family move. read more

We had a short move - just Fort Worth to Frisco, but they did an excellent job. The movers were friendly and very careful. They kept us informed about when they would arrive at both places. They were quick and efficient. They went over and above to make sure everything was just right. Not a single thing was broken or scratched. We will definitely use them again. WARNING!!! I'd give zero stars if I could. I guess I am the sole person they send Joey to move for. Let me start with that I have no problems with the front office personnel such as Christy or her husband, as I'm sure they're just not aware of how my moves have actually went. Her son accompanied the lead mover Joey on my most recent move and maintained a very professional demeanor along with the other mover that I have sadly forgotten the name of. For starters, I booked a 1-3 P.M. move time because my leasing office closed at 5 and they didn't show until 3:31 P.M. and blamed me for the reason behind it so they were able to stop at Chick Fil A for lunch and that their last move "took too long". I'm sorry but if I pay a $50 deposit for a service for a specific time and they don't show up at that guaranteed time how is that my fault? Also while they were packing my items, Joey had received another call from what I assume is another employee of First Step Moving and was cussing him out left and right while I was in the room. I could feel the tension between both of the younger movers as they saw their boss lose control in front of a customer but I acted like it was no big deal so that there was no more conflict. Having arrived at my new apartment, they stopped at a Discount Tire on the way for one of the movers to pick up his truck and STILL CHARGED ME FOR THE TIME and tried to say it was "on the way" to the move. When I'm paying for a moving service, there is nothing "On the way" other than the destination or a gas station, at least in billable hours. I even had to help move stuff into the apartment after being warned with "billable time" so that I wouldn't be charged for more 15 minute increments. On top of that, the lead mover Joey lost his switchblade style knife and managed to lose his temper once again and start to make me feel anxious in my own apartment and unsure if he'd go any further with his anger as to violence. All I'm saying is thank God it was found. At the end of my move, they charged me $326 for time that I DID NOT EVEN USE because the lead mover Joey swore up and down they worked 3 and a half hours when in reality it was him taking up time on the phone cursing at to whom I assumed to be other First Step employees, then taking a drive to Discount Tire while documenting time for my move and in my opinion that is just very unprofessional and not something you should do for a repeat customer that chose to use a Veteran Owned operated business as a veteran myself. To wrap this up, I'm going to go out of my way to use another Veteran Owned moving company because this one sure knows how to not treat a repeat customer that went out of their way to use a Veteran Owned Business. Also to top it off, on my first move, a family heirloom table was broken and a mover named Noah told me verbatim it was "already broken when he lifted the TV off of it" and denied all allegations. If that were the case, how in the world would that table of been supporting a 50' tv in the first place? Your guess is as good as mine. I truly hope whoever reads this takes this review as a warning to take your business elsewhere. Especially if you're a veteran looking to support veteran owned businesses because I truly don't believe it's "veteran owned an operated". If that were true, they'd actually have a lead mover that moves with a purpose and does his job rather than put the blame on the two younger employees that rely on you for leadership. "Integrity before profit"? I think not. read more

Got everything agreed to and the boys showed up on time and with a good deal of notice. Very polite and respectful high school football players. Had them move an elliptical upstairs. I wish I could do a 2&1/2 star review because the first move with First Step could not have gone better. They were on time, careful with my things and polite. The cost was also very reasonable. Then came the second experience...I called to see if they could move something within 48 hours. They could, so I was ok with the higher cost(almost as much as moving my entire apartment). I needed two items moved from a friends house(upstairs) so I wanted a professional mover to do it so that nothing would be damaged. They showed up over an hour late, which we had discussed was a big deal before because I would've chosen a different day if I'd known they couldn't do it within the time frame promised. The movers scratched my friends wall and bent the knob on my furniture. They promised that they'd have a handyman call, which never happened. The woman I spoke with was curt and full of excuses. Bottom line, your move is only as good as the crew that shows up and who you deal with at the office. read more

More like 4.5 stars.....Scheduled a move from a 3 bed to a 4, and I've got a family of 5, so they scheduled a 3 person team. Only 2 showed up, as the other got sick. Those 2 worked their tails off. We hired First Step Moving after researching about four companies. One of the deciding factors besides the best price and prompt response from Christy, is their connection to the military. Moving day, the team of three arrived early, carefully wrapped, packed and moved our 2 bedroom house (just under 1400 sq ft) in 1 trip! They were amazing, so warm, friendly and professional, I don't think I could have hoped for better this being our first time using movers. One of them even came back after forgetting to connect the washer. My skeptical husband was very impressed and we plan to use them when we move again, which hopefully will be the last time. read more

I am beyond shocked that this place has such great reviews. Due to the fact that they did we booked them to move us today. They called and said they got into an accident so they couldn't come at the original time scheduled. We were very understanding and they gave us their sister company who showed up a half an hour late and REFUSED to wear masks. They also claimed they did not have masks. Even after me a nurse who has an 8 month old baby told the men that it is not acceptable and unsafe to do they could not work without masks so they claim. We offered to provide brand new masks but the movers insisted that they couldn't work in that condition and claimed it would be pointless since they are sweating and breathing hot air. They left while my house is not assembled and was ready to go they left. After calling I spoke to Christie who was beyond rude and tried to defend the movers and hung up on me. She then text my fiancé a snarky message pretending to care and claiming that I was rude and name calling and told him that if I was nicer that she would have paid for the uhaul that he is loading in the heat all by himself. I am so upset and ashamed for this company to represent themselves this way and can't believe they are operating without masks due to covid. Please protect yourselves ! read more
