Unfortunately, my experience with First Step Moving was extremely disappointing. I read all of the reviews and we specifically went with this company because of the amazing reviews. Our experience was quite different. I understand that the owners of this company are not present for the moves so they may be unaware, but these movers seemed to be amateurs. After the move was completed, the movers left their trash on the curb of our home, including water bottles, and also left partially empty tea bottles inside the house. That alone showed a lack of professionalism and respect for a client's home. During the move, they spent time talking on their phones, which slowed the process down. Several items were also left behind at the original house, forcing us to travel back after the move was completed to retrieve them. Many pieces of furniture were not placed in the correct rooms, which caused additional frustration and ultimately required us to hire another set of hands to help reorganize and move items properly. There was also damage to our belongings. My daughter's $400 dollhouse was broken during the move, mirrors were not attached back to the bedroom sets, and the bed was not put together properly. In addition, multiple parts of our furniture were left at the old house. To make matters even more concerning, my wedding ring also went missing during the move. This entire situation created far more stress than relief on what was already a very demanding day. I explained that as we hired movers specifically to make moving large items easier and less stressful. Unfortunately, this experience was the complete opposite. I truly hope the company takes these concerns seriously and improves their professionalism, accountability, and care when handling customers' homes and belongings. The owner Kristy reached back out after I left a vm and she credited one hour due to certain complaints expressed but after the movers left, we found several other issues. This is my third time using this company and they are really good at what they do. I have hired two, three, and now a four mover cree. I was a little disappointed in the time it took for four movers in comparison to a three mover crew. I paid for eight hours for a four man crew and eights hours the last time for a three men crew. One of my crew members was 45 minutes late. Apparently there was a last minute call in and they had to find a replacement. When we went to the new address, two of the movers took a personal vehicle and they arrived 40 minutes after the truck arrived giving me only two movers until the others arrived. I felt we could have cut two hours from our expense had the crew been together the entire time. Nonetheless, the movers were efficient and careful with my furniture. This is a female operated and owned business. Christy is awesome and I know the matter mentioned is not this company's norm. I will definitely give them another opportunity to earn that extra star. read more

Christie came out to give an in-person estimate which was an excellent touch. The pricing was fair and Sedrick, Francisco, Chris, and Sergio were all excellent to work with and incredibly hard working. Their packing skills were beyond impressive. They got all our stuff to fit perfectly in our 10x30 storage unit and I don't think anything got broken or damaged which is a huge positive. I will absolutely be calling them back when we're ready to move out of our storage unit. read more

They arrived on time (even a few minutes early...but called first to make sure it was OK) and they completed the job within the estimated time. Moving from one storage to another. They were doing great until I saw them flip my mother's cedar chest over and I heard probably breakable things inside flying all over the place. I haven't had the heart to look inside. Why would you need to do that? We'd moved that 3 times and never done that! I also saw a box that said "fragile", just plopped on its side. I tried to tell them in time, but I couldn't catch it. I could tell they were getting tired, they never looked to see if the box said "fragile". Some things they were very good about, like my mirrors, not as much my pictures. They were very personable, but they could have done better on the breakable items. When I was paying, the guy was in my space, saw everything I had in the bank, that made me so uncomfortable. I was going to give them a tip from Venmo, but it wouldn't work, he was getting irritated, told my husband we needed to go to the bank right then and get them cash. We couldn't do that, we had a lot of items to still put up. I had some cash, but it wasn't enough. I just wish I'd given him that. I did give him a $200 luggage carrier that had only been used one time. The woman that owned the business seemed nice, I'm just still upset about some of the fragile items. read more

Unfortunately I did not have a great experience with First Step Moving. They were great with communication until it came down to my issues. The movers scraped up walls and ruined some of my furniture. After letting them know, the owner told me the mover could "come fix it" but how am I to trust for someone that didn't do their job correctly in the first place come and fix anything? They are movers, not handymen. Nevertheless, the guy never contacted me. To add, the team also took our push broom. My husband saw one of the movers with it sweeping out the truck and the broom was never to be seen again. So disappointed especially because the company had great reviews. read more

I put out a request through Yelp for a mover. Christy (you'll see her comments to other Yelpers below) answered quickly. Their rate was in the mid-range of movers and they're local to Celina (we were moving from the south end of Frisco to almost middle Celina). The rate, responsiveness, and great reviews about the movers were important to me. I've hired movers in other cities and knew what I needed which smoothed to process as well. We don't have any priceless goods, though I felt as though all of our items were treated with care. The team was responsive to my requests on the day of. They did the work in the expected time. I have no complaints and would call them first if we move again. One of the guys went above and beyond by calling me in to look at one of our dressers before he moved it. I'd noticed for a long time that it was a little wobbly and he went above and beyond by looking at what screws were missing and rearranging them to stabilize it. This had been an issue from our last out of state moves and I was delighted that he'd gone above and beyond. Also, remember that whatever movers you choose, tips are appreciated. read more

I really love that this is a woman owned company. I moved from a second floor apartment to a house today. I had a huge living room couch that was very difficult to move. The movers were very careful not to damage any furniture. They helped me take down my curtains, tv and mount too. I have moved a couple of times and this has been my worst moving experience. The one star is because two of the movers seemed to be trying their best but that was the only positive part of this experience. First, the movers arrived with NO tools, I have never had movers that show up to a job without any tools to properly take things apart. One of the movers offered to give me money to run to Lowes to get tools (what?!!!!?). They broke the glass to my tv console and didn't clean it up but just left it there for me to take care of. When I spoke to the representative to set up the move, I PAID for tv boxes and mattress plastic since my stuff was going into storage but they showed up with NONE of that. One of the movers suggested I go into the storage office to buy a mattress cover cause they sell them too (what?!!?!!?). So my mattresses and TVs went into storage without any of the protection I requested and honestly I am concerned about the state of my items in storage because the movers didn't seem to handle things with care so who knows how they packed things into the storage unit. As I mentioned, the movers arrived with NO tools so as I was cleaning up, I noticed they were closing up the moving truck but my bedroom sets were still in tact so I asked what about my bed. The mover stated that the screws were too tight and perhaps I should reach out to the furniture store that assembled it to come back out and break it down. I was FLOORED!!! Why would I call Rooms to Go to come break down this bed when I'm PAYING First Step for this. They also claimed they couldn't disconnect the washing machine hose because it was too tight however I came along and twisted it off with my bare hands. They left stuff that they just decided they were not going to take like a chair, no reason why, they just put it in the open middle of the bed as an indication that just like the bed, they would not be moving it. Lastly, they left all kinds of trash from their energy drinks around my house, wouldn't have been a big deal if they would've left them on the counter but they literally just threw them on the floor (pic included). Moving is stressful enough so save yourself the trouble and pick another moving company. To begin with, first step moving was amazing! The service provided while booking/receiving quotes was very thorough. One thing I can say is they don't do fine print meaning they don't try and charge you for unnecessary things. Also, I asked for a 3 man crew and let me just say, Miguel & his crew were AMAZING. So professional & polite. They made sure all my furniture was protected and made it safely to its final destination. You can tell the crew had a lot of chemistry & they all work very hard. I was extremely uncomfortable and caught of guard. I moved and parked my car, the truck behind me Sat a gentlemen who I never saw before, who wasnt at the pick up location . He followed me until I could open my access and into the elevator. Great experience with First Step Moving! I spent a couple of hours researching the right moving company and decided to move forward with First Step Moving because of their transparency and level of service from the owner, Christy. I booked the move about a month out and Christy was very communicative with me if I had any questions before the move. She gave me great options and advice. We moved from Dallas to Austin and had requested the movers to stop at two additional places to pick up furniture prior to the final destination. Christy said it would be no problem and charged us a reasonable amount for the additional stop. The two gentlemen who helped us move from Dallas to Austin were very quick with packing up our items and were careful when moving our furniture. They worked hard for us and were very respectful. I would absolutely use First Step Moving again. I have moved many many times and this by far was the most stress free move as far as moving an entire home in one day. I had to reschedule multiple times due to builder delays but Christy worked with me on the move dates. She also suggested two moving trucks and five movers which made the move much quicker.
