We've just used First Step for the second time, and once again we're happy with our move and how easy it was for us. We had Stephen's team this time, and they were really fast and took good care of all of our belongings. Our only negative about this experience is that we were quoted with three movers, but only had two due to one of them not being able to work. We understand things happen. They did lower the price per hour for us, but unfortunately our move took longer because we lost 1/3 of the labor, so we did end up paying more than we anticipated. That was a shame, but again, things happen. Overall, we're happy with our decision, and will still be using them again for our next move. read more

Couldn't be more disappointed, made sure to buy furniture wrappings, dozens of moving blankets and over a dozen straps. Not even 30 miles and the entire load is displaced. I asked multiple times about wrapping more and more straps but they said it was good. It certainly was not, stay away! You can see the TV which is the only item I asked for special care and asked to use any of the dozens of blankets to wrap it up since I'm going to cold weather. So not only was it not wrapped it was loaded to practically guarantee an issue. Or the oil paintings that were smashed together. Did not think I'd have to manage the r tire loading and tell them how to do their job. With how the owner acts I'd expect at least a minimal effort in hiring and training employees. Just floored especially when seeing the picture posted by the owner with everything wrapped properly. It's why I bought the plastic furniture wrap, blankets, straps, etc. read more

July 2022 update: Another happy customer with First Step Moving! My parents are in the process of moving back to Texas and needed to move a VERY full 26' truck into storage while their house is under construction. The only reason I agreed to manage the unload for my parents is because I trusted First Step Moving from my original move in February 2022. I hired 5 movers for a Sunday morning move. The guys showed up on time and gave me a few minutes notice beforehand. The owner, Christy, even stopped by the storage unit to check on the progress. Love that local service! Christy and her team went above and beyond to insure the items would not be damaged in storage, which meant they added extra wrapping and blankets to items. She even called in two extra movers to ensure items were stacked efficiently and the move went smoothly. I will definitely use them again when we move everything in storage to the house in Little Elm. I am giving a 2 star rating. All of our furniture that required reassemble was done incorrectly. I am currently sleeping on the floor because my bed fell apart due to screws missing. My baby girls crib was reassembled incorrectly...one of the side rails is upside down. Also our guest bedroom bed is all jacked up because it was assembled incorrectly. There are drawers underneath that cannot even be opened or closed properly because the whole bed alignment is off. I am upset because my husband and I went out of our way helping they guys with moving our stuff and we bought them breakfast and dinner. They were very nice but I wish they would have been honest about not knowing how to put our furniture together or that they took their time actually doing it the right way. The more errors I discover the more I believe that we had inexperienced workers who really didn't know what the heck they were doing. All of my furniture cannot be fixed at the moment because my husband is still living in another city for another month. Wish I would have had a better experience. Moving day was 4/7/2019 and this review is over due. I have moved quite a bit in the last 6 years and have used several different moving companies in the DFW metroplex. A few I have used on more then one occasion and I even left 5 star reviews! Well how wrong I was to do that, cause NONE of those moving companies compares to First Step! WOW is all I can say! They blew me away with the service, the courtesy and the care they put into my move! My move was on a weekend and on a Sunday (when most people rest) and yet they were still very reasonably priced, the 3 man crew were on time, very polite, courteous and their effort and care! WOW! Flawless! Not at any point did I get that "Dang it's Sunday and I have to work moving these F'ing people!" Trust me! After moving for the 6th time in the last 6 years! I've become pretty good in picking up on that attitude on moving day from the moving company. This time however, didn't have to deal with that. I also didn't experience one damaged or broken item. First Step took the extra time and put that delicate touch on my fragile items. Oh and I wasn't asked to write a review on the spot to get a discount on my move. There was no price haggling or price "catch". Spoke to Christy from the start (she's Awesome BTW) and the pricing quoted from the start, is exactly what I paid.
