I called First Select Pest Control to get a second opinion. I had gotten a very expensive bid that seemed out of whack. I thought I was being taken advantage of as an older woman. Dominic was very generous with his time on both the telephone and when he came to my residence. He immediately got to the issue of where a rat could enter my home. He fixed one problem area and told me what resource I needed to fix the other area which he did not do. Dominic was knowledgeable, thorough, professional, responsive, and courteous. Could not be happier that we called First Select. I got home on Thanksgiving night, and found ants all over my kitchen and laundry room. I called First Select and talked to David Hay on the phone. He clearly explained the services that they would provide, and was able to make it out the same day (the Friday after Thanksgiving). The real pain were the ants, got so bad we couldn't leave food out more then an hour, some times less then that. I have used First Select three times now so I feel very confident giving them a well deserved 5 stars. Dominic is great to communicate with and he gets the job done well. I didn't think anything was going to solve our ant problem, but one visit from First Select did the trick! They also helped us with a small mouse problem that existed when we first moved in and then again after we had our dishwasher fixed (appliance guy exposed a hole that had been covered so a mouse started visiting us again). I have often thought of leaving a Yelp review but have never followed through. My experience with First Select Pest Control was so great that I felt compelled to write. I had been noticing digging by some kind of critter at a the base of the foundation to my house. The drip irrigation nearby was becoming a waterfall. I was panicked after seeing my water usage ( after taking every precaution to save water in my house). I had seen small animals scurrying around, which had not been the case. I called at 7:00 am. I knew I was going to have to get this solved. Dominic, Michael, and Nancy were amaziingly helpful and fit me in. Turns out it was not rats and the drip irrigation was a separate problem. Michael walked me through all the reasons it was not rats, like that they were not eating my veggies in the garden, no droppings, etc.. He checked around the house thoroughly and they (whatever "they" were) were not able to dig into my basement (yes, he checked my basement). He gave alternatives to dealing with the mystery critters and made suggestions on how to trench and cement the foundation footings to stop the digging. I felt relieved and taken care of. There were no rats and I can just let it be or trap on my own. I would call them in a heartbeat if I ever needed them. And I am recommending them to my garden group and other friends. I was surprised after reading all the good reviews. I set an appointment up on a Thursday for the next day in the morning to do a pest assessment. No one called or came, so I called the dispatch number and left a message. No return call, so I called again a couple hours later. The person I spoke to called Dominic and told me he was with another client and would call me back shortly. Never heard anything. I was pretty disappointed as I took the day off work to be home for it. read more

I don't usually leave reviews but this experience certainly warranted it. I called First Select due to a mice issue at home and was able to get an appointment the very next day, Wow! Will and his partner (sorry forgot his name) were on time. They were very professional, respectful and patient with all the questions and concerns we had for them. They were able to point out the entry points at home, the main cause and laid out the next steps for us to take care of the problem. Not once did we feel rushed or uncomfortable asking for information and it was very obvious that Will was an expert and knew what he was doing. I've used First Selects service now for a few years. Dominic and his team are great and exceedingly professional. When I rented in Kensington our home was surrounded by ant hills that our landlords couldn't get under control (they told us after we moved in) Dominics team treated our home and then did preventative service and we never had any issues for the years we lived there. We recently moved to a new home, and had Dominic treat for ants here as well. He came during COVID and uses all proper safety precautions, including N95 masks, sanitizer spray, shoe covers, gloves, etc. Out family is thankful that they are still here for us in a safe way during the crisis. read more

I hired First Select to take care of a flea infestation. The short review is that I would absolutely recommend giving them a call for consideration. Positives: 1. Scheduling - I was able to schedule initial assessment and treatment within 3 days. This included a period where I called multiple companies to get quotes. Dominic and Malika (apologies if I got the spelling wrong) answered all of my questions in a transparent manner and were willing and able to work with my schedule and needs to the extent that they were able. 2. Effectiveness - After a few days, the initial treatment seemed to prove effective. If it turns out they come back any time soon, I'll update. 3. Core values - I was really happy to work with a local business. It's also clear that they value work life balance for their own employees - and were honest about what services they could deliver on what time frame. (Slight) Negative: 1. For transparency I will share that for my follow-up treatment, I had to wait an hour past my scheduled time. However, I did get regular updates on status as I waited. Even if I hadn't ended up hiring First Select, I'd absolutely recommend calling them for a quote. Their responsiveness and transparency warrant consideration. read more

Dominic is rare. Usually I'm let down and skeptical of companies with all 5 star glowing reviews, but he deserves every single one of them. He was transparent, kind, and generous with his time. We've been having a mouse issue in our rental, so I called Dominic last week. He was extremely nice, was clear about what he was able to do as well as his fee structure. ($140 initial estimate, which goes towards the final amount.) My husband set up an appointment with him for today. He gave a pretty decent time estimate for when he would arrive. When he came, it was right to business, he went through the apartment and found 3 primary areas that needed to be amended, but said that they were not areas he could reach. He offered to set the traps (we decided not to because we have a toddler) but wouldn't take any payment because he was 'just offering advice'. read more

While we didn't hire First Select Pest Control for our rodent issue, but I wanted to add a positive review about the integrity of Dominic and his staff. During the inspection, Mike was honest that the rodent issue required extensive construction and insulation repairs beyond their scope of work. They could have downplayed the work that needed to be done, cut corners or found half measures so I'd hire them for the job. But instead, Dominic and Mike were transparent about it and referred me to another company who was able to take on the full project. Most small businesses wouldn't do that - decline a big job to point a new customer in the right direction. But Dominic did, and I think that speaks to his integrity as a business owner! read more

First thing that I have to say about Dominic is how charismatic he is, what a personality! We were having an issue with roaches and he agreed with the land lord to come over and check out the situation. When he got here the was a freak gathering of crows... they were creating a mighty racket! He somehow managed to quiet them down with a few crows of his own... amazing! I appreciated FSPC, being on top of letting me know the time frame that I could expect Dominic. I live in an area where sometimes the phone signal can be sketchy and I have missed calls from Dominic during the arrival window. I like that because some businesses will leave you hanging with communication at all (I had that earlier this week). Dominic, was thoughtful in terms of making sure he had on the right equipment so that he would not track outside dirt/mud into my home. He was very thorough in his inspection and although the specific situation that brought him to my home is one that he will not be working on he did identify other situations and pointed them out to me that needed to be addressed. I called with a potential bed bug issue but Dominic recommended I get a second evaluation before he could quote for treatment. We really liked Dominic when he came out to help us w/ our rodent problem last year. Since then his business has grown. He now has an answering service taking his calls. We recently discovered another rodent infestation. I first called Thursday, November 14. The woman I spoke w/ took my information, getting both our phone number and our address wrong, which I corrected when she read it back to me. She said she'd have a field supervisor call me. When I had heard nothing by November 21, I called again, this time speaking a man, who took the information again, getting all the numbers right this time. It's been almost a week and we still haven't heard back, so I called another company, which was much more responsive and sent a worker out today. I am honestly so sad that I didn't go with First Select from the beginning. A few months ago, a rodent ran across my living room. I called a company whose name rhymes with BARK, and began services. Their exclusions expert also inspected my home but could never find an entry point. It's been months. Last night, a rodent got caught in a trap in my living room and ripped his own tail off to get out of the flimsy trap that the old company set. Fed up, I called First Select. Dominic squeezed me into his already full schedule and came by my house, although his work day ended. Within 10 minutes of being in my home, Dominic found multiple entry points and rodent droppings. He sealed them off and set traps. I feel so much better sleeping in my home tonight. Dominic is so friendly and accommodating and he went above and beyond, also talking to my neighbors about pest issues that may effect them.
