While replacing baseboards our contractor found evidence of - yuk - subterranean termites. After some research we called in Top Grade Termite to get their take on where we stood. They first do an inspection and then can give you a quote on treatment. The quote was reasonable so we went ahead, and a 2 man team showed up to do the work. It had been raining on the day scheduled and they had graciously postponed to the following week. They were right on time and took a couple hours to do the work. Knowledge/Education - Rene knows a ton, but he also takes as much time as needed to answer questions, not rush you, and help you better understand your home in general. For example, he pointed to evidence of subterranean termites in the past, but also informed me that our house was made with very dense wood which significantly lowered risk of a serious infestation. I had heard what I was almost certain was termites in my wall one night. I called Top Grade on Thursday and they sent two guys to my house the following day (Friday). They looked in the room where I thought I heard termites. They looked outside, especially in the area near the room. They crawled into the crawl space below the room and looked around. They could find no sign of termites, and told me they did not think I had termites, but to call them again if I see any or hear them again. Another company came out and also found no sign of termites. The next day I found the source of the mysterious noise that I had thought was termites. It wasn't. Nonetheless, Top Grade sent me an email with a 4 page report indicating that there was no evidence of termite infestation. My conclusion: 1) They are honest and don't lie and say there are termites when there aren't just to get $ for an unnecessary service. 2) They are thorough and go above and beyond the call of duty. Saw one of the main crew guys doing work at my neighbor's for termite treatment and wood repairs. My window frames are the original ones installed 30 years ago and I noticed a lot of dry rot so had them do an estimate. The price seemed fair, not the cheapest or highest; and you get what you pay for. These are licensed contractors, so you won't be paying "handyman" prices. Even if a handyman replaces your wood, he won't be able to handle termites if any are found in or behind wood framing structures. Rene's crew did a fantastic job replacing most of the window wood framing, on two floors, and even one exterior door frame (plus caulking and painting) that had a lot of dry rot. When he came back the next week for a follow-up, there were a few items missed; but Rene promptly scheduled the time to complete everything with a 1 year warranty. Rene took great care in looking around the outsides of our house for signs of termites upon initial inspection as well as any other signs of where there might be more termites outside the house. I myself know what the swarming termites look like and have encountered a pile of their dead bodies during the swarming season. However I do not know what the subterranean ones look like. On the day of the extermination, holes were drilled into the dry walls and a snake camera was used to look for the source of termites. They couldnt find any but the droppings were very much present. They filled the wall with the foam treatment which acts like ant poison (brings poison back to the queen and kill the colony). If anything returns, Rene said they'd come back to treat again and that felt reassuring! Any questions I had, they'd answer and then some. read more

Every morning I would have to clean up their poop they left during the day and night. Anytime I see a business on Yelp with ONLY 5 star reviews (and nothing less), I always wonder is the credibility that good? Well, now I can say that it is true and well deserved. From the start to finish, Rene was very personable and inspected the house very thoroughly. I had many questions and he answered every single text and email super promptly. He even made sure to drop off extra fumigation bags on the front porch. And the actual fumigation crew/company (Nor Cal Fumigation) that he works with is also top notch! They also only 5 star reviews too. The women at Nor Cal who helped me there were Lisa Scoffone and Lori Figueroa. Their customer service was amazing! As soon as the crew arrived, they were super friendly and very respectful to the entire property and the house. Even when I got home, they double checked all the cabinets.
