Scott came out to inspect my home in the fall. I was disappointed as he then ended up recommending 15+ specialists come to my home. As I had never done this before, I had spoken with their office before asking about any preparation I needed to do before the visit and they told me I didn't. As Scott was inspecting the house, I asked if I could move things out of his way so he could access the fireplace, other walls, etc. he declined so I carried on working. When the report came out he indicated that certain areas couldn't be inspected because of access which was frustrating as I had asked while he was there. He even indicated that he couldn't inspect my HVAC as my thermostat was out of batteries but I had AA batteries on hand and could have easily popped them in if he had mentioned it. It felt like he was just doing a topical inspection. I was disappointed with the service and the cursory visit. When I wrote him a follow up email he was pretty harsh with his words and scolded me saying, "you obviously have no idea the role of a home inspector" and "the bottom line is that you were not prepared for a proper inspection and that is no fault of mine." Could I have done better to prepare for his arrival? In hindsight, sure! But I had asked before his arrival and the office said I didn't. I didn't appreciate the retorts in our follow-up communication. I would not recommend this for someone who is also new to home inspections. read more

We recently put in an offer on an investment home in Concord and it was accepted, however the sellers did not have an inspection report done. We had a contingency of about 7 days to have all inspections done before going forward. Our offer and counter was accepted on a Friday so time was of the essence. Thankfully, I was able to find North Bay Inspection and their website to make a weekend appointment the following Sunday! That was tremendously helpful because home inspections usually take place Monday-Friday and both my husband and I work and live in the South Bay so it would be difficult for one of us to be present. We were both able to be there along with our realtor, as Scott did his due diligence and spent 3 hours inspecting the house. One main issue which could've been a deal breaker were the cracks in the stucco outside and some inside on the walls. We thought it might've been structural or foundation issues which can be very costly to fix but luckily after going into the crawl space he assured us the foundation was fine with no underlying issues. We will definitely need to get some work done on the house but our experience with Scott has been fantastic! He came prepared and throughly looked at all aspects of the home as well as answered all of our questions and concerns at the end of the inspection. The written report was sent thru email shortly and included pictures and very descriptive details of everything. This is the 5th home we've purchased and Scott's inspection was significantly better than the other 4. We highly recommend his experience and expertise to anyone who's looking for a home inspector! read more

He was amazing- worth every penny! The report he gave could not have been any more detailed. He clearly stated at the beginning that while he was a contractor he would not work on a property that he did an inspection for to maintain integrity. He took a couple hours going over the house and he said we could follow him and listen or we could wait until he was done then he would do a walk around with us to show the concerns (if any). He alleviated our biggest concern about a retaining wall and found things we NEVER would have thought to look for (like electric wiring put inside the A/C condensation pipe ). He even gave us advice when asked about potential additions like solar panels. My fiancé and I found him to be a real down to earth and likable guy. Absolute pleasure to work with. 10/10 would recommend if nothing more than to gain sound piece of mind that the absolute best and honest answers will be given. read more

By far the best inspection we've had on our new home. Scott provided a comprehensive report detailing issues helping us to move forward with repairs. There were two other inspectors who, unfortunately, provided more general reports and didn't inspect under the home - in the crawlspace. Scott braved the catacombs of the house's underbelly and provided us with crucial pictures and information about a number of issues, particularly standing water, which we had no idea existed until his inspection. Besides reporting issues, Scott also added suggestions and insights to consider when seeking repairs, which is very helpful. I can honestly say that not all inspectors provide the same quality of service as we now have had three inspections in the last few months. The report provided by the first inspector, paid for by the previous owners and used by their realtor, seemed watered down. Not only did that inspector not check the crawlspace, but didn't even go on the roof. We then sought out our own inspector via a website which misleadingly appeared to be a family owned business, but actually was an ecommerce front. That 2nd inspection was more comprehensive than the first, but it bothered us that he wasn't willing to check the crawlspace - at least he did go on the roof, though. The whole experience was great, I am in the process of buying a home in Vallejo and needed a home inspection kind of soon, I called some other places and they weren't very flexible. John was great from the initial phone conversation all the way to receiving the email report. He was puntual to the appointment, he did and extensive inspections, (more than 3 hours) always taking time to explain and answer any questions me or the real state agent had. The report was very easy to read and understand even for 1st time buyers like me. Very detailed with lots of pictures, recommendations on what issues we should prioritize and get second opinion, etc. It was over 80 pages long.
