I haven't written many reviews but in order to spare the next person unfortunate enough to call them, here it goes. The previous home owners had an inspection done on my home before I bought it. I called them to schedule my termite repairs. They did half of my work last November and said the remaining outside work should be completed after the rains stopped. So I sent my work authorization in May to complete the work. Nobody has scheduled any repairs since then. If you call, you will get brushed off or told that your call will be returned (which it won't). The last time I called, they said they sent it to the contractor "who probably forgot." So I guess I should get a new inspection? What a waste of time and terribly unprofessional people. Just trying to save the next person their valuable time. read more

John was willing to use DuPont Altriset on my home (a less toxic alternative to the standard chemicals). The job was completed with integrity. It's almost impossible to say if the termites are gone: sneaky little buggers. But I'm sure the best possible job was done with the chemical. John even came back, two years later, after we removed some soil that had been treated, and freshened the spot up. Thanks guys! This is a way different, and far better experience compared to Orkin and the sales-oriented termite companies. read more

I had a chance to inspect a a newly-built home for the prospective buyer. This was a house which McDonald Termite had inspected just two weeks before, for the seller. I haven't seen their inspection report, but I am impressed with how thorough an inspection of the subarea they seemed to have done, despite numerous obstacles, such as inadequately sized openings between different sections of the building. They got to and checked out areas many inspectors would call inaccessible. I look forward to meeting John and Tracy if we ever cross paths. No company is perfect, but when I'm buying or selling a home, this is the kind of company I want inspecting for me. read more

Disclaimer: this review is for customer service and courtesy, as I have not actually used this company for inspections, diagnosis or treatment of pests. I called McDonald Termite to request an old report prepared in 2010 (six years ago). I spoke with Virginia, who let me know that it was possible but unlikely they still had the report due to change in ownership of the business back in 2012, but volunteered to look for the report anyway. Within just a few hours, the report was found and emailed me to me! I just wanted to say that I really appreciated the clear communication and willingness to go above and beyond to help me on this request. She could have just as easily said that they were not responsible for reports conducted before they took over. Instead she made the effort, found the report and actually delivered on it! This was a very important and critical document that is going to help me in so many ways. I would feel confident to use this business for any future needs just due to the level of courtesy and effort put into their customer service. Their willingness to listen and deliver says a lot about how a business operates. read more

These guys were awesome. Doing a refi on my house via VA. The VA is super picky and McDonald bent over backwards to provide all the forms in the correct way. We just completed the purchase of a home that came with a clean pest inspection from McDonald Termite. After finding several fungus issues not on the McDonald report, our home inspectors recommended we get our own pest report. Charles Mayer came out and inspected the home and found dry wood termites, subterranean termites, and wood boring beetles. (Once he pointed them out, they seemed really obvious to me.) I cannot imagine how Mr. McDonald could have missed all three... but he did. read more

When I called to make our appointment for a pest inspection of a home we are purchasing John was able to get me an appointment on very late notice which I was very thankful for. When John and Tammy came and did our inspection for the house they were very friendly and very knowledgeable. They were able to explain everything to me and explained our different options on how to solve each thing that was spotted. It is my understanding that a termite company makes an inspection. So as not to have a conflict of interest, the work is done by another company. I didn't think the work they recommended was necessary and I don't think they thought it was either. I think it was make work for their company. read more
