I had the pleasure of meeting Dominic for help with field mice getting into our home. When I called, he answered the phone right away and was able to schedule an assessment very quickly. He arrived right on time, with a smile on his face. He spent his undivided attention looking for areas of our home where they might be getting in and plugged up the holes, while showing me every step of the way. He knew I was freaking out about the rodents and wanted to be sure I saw the interventions he placed. He honestly gave me a quote and it was very affordable. He was very honest and didn't try to charge me for unnecessary things like chain companies may try to do. He said that we are nieghbors and I just want to help take care of my nieghbors. Dominic saved the day! I was traveling through the Bay Area and thought we found bed bugs in our luggage. I found Dominic via Yelp and he responded to my inquiry in minutes! He talked us through options on a phone consultation, and then offered to take a look at the bugs we "caught" via microscope, free of charge, before committing to any services. Turns out we picked up roach nymphs in Mexico and not bed bugs! This review is long overdue. First let me say what a pleasure it was to work with Dominic, as several other reviewers have stated, he is extremely professional while at the same time being friendly and familiar. On top of that we couldn't be happier with the service that we received. I/we waited over 2 months since first select was at our house and we've had no recurring problems with mice or any other type of rodent. I noticed one negative review and frankly it pisses me off that someone would let that review stand after accepting both a discounted rate and then a full refund. My parents had a rat infestation in their attic in Berkeley and it cost them $4,200 to have that remedied. I noticed the same reviewer complaining that first Pest Control doesn't offer a free inspection. I believe I have some unique Insight here as well. With several years of working in South Florida, I've had experiences with at least a half a dozen exterminators and I can tell you that all of the ones that offer free inspections, only do so in the hope of signing you to an expensive annual contract, often for situations that can be remedied in one visit. Anyway I have no affiliation with first select Pest Control other than being a happy customer that paid full price for an excellent service. With that said I think that Yelp is an amazing platform for both praising good service and bringing awareness to poor services. I cannot stress how wonderful Dominic and his service is!!! He came to my apartment to rid my bedroom of fleas. Before arriving, he called me to inform me that he would be a bit late (which was absolutely no problem as he was so apologetic!!) When he got to my apartment, he conducted a thorough examination and quickly and efficiently sprayed my bedroom and living room to get rid of the fleas. He also offered to spray my car in the event that one had stayed on my clothes. Dominic was astounded that my landlord's were not helping me with this service and because I was a college student, Dominic gave me an incredible discount to help cover the cost of the treatment. He found the issues but due to the small amount of evidence of rodent presence (only in my stove), and obvious point of entry, he decided that we did NOT need his service of traps and monitoring, just closing up holes of entry for rodents. When we had rats in one of our pantries, our son suggested First Select. We met Dominick and hired him. He quickly found the holes through which the rats had entered, sealed them, cleaned up the rat debris in the pantry, and set traps. On his next two scheduled visits, he removed the dead rats, and we have had no more problems since. Dominic is AMAZING! He's as great as every one on here says he is! We started hearing noises in our wall in the middle of the night about 3 weeks ago. My husband and I figured we had a rodent issue in our garage. Like most folks, we tried to catch the rodent(s) on our own by buying all kinds of traps. But after a week out, having caught a rat but still hearing noises in our wall in the middle of the night, we gave up and I did my research on yelp! I called First Select Pest Control and spoke with Dominic that morning and he was at our house to do the inspection that afternoon! He's incredibly kind and his prices are very reasonable. He did an inspection of the home, made recommendations on where to close up entry points to where the rats could be getting in and set up traps in our crawl space to where he found evidence of them. Once we completed his recommendations in sealing up the entry points, we stopped hearing noises in our wall. Dominic came by a week later to check on the traps, he confirmed he caught one which explains the end of the noise and confirmed he didn't see any others in the other traps. Dominic made an incredibly frustrating and mentally terrorizing issue as pleasant as possible! If you're in need of pest control, Dominic is your guy!! If I could give him 10 stars I would. Dominic answered my phone call and set up an appointment the following morning. We had a mouse in the house and he fixed the problem immediately. He did a detailed inspection inside and outside of our home and and pointed things out that I had no idea were an issue and fixed them on site! I decided to get a second opinion and decided to call first select based on their reviews. Dominic came out and found the entry point within 10 minutes of inspecting my place. Granted it was behind some vegetation on the side of my house, but really?? The last company couldn't find the hole? Needless to say first select is now my pest control company and they also service my home on a regular basis for other critters like ants and spiders.
