While I won't mention their names here, this team is a class act with the very best in customer service. They have not only been able to take care of all of my banking and financial needs, after a recent medical incident, I received a get well card with personal notes signed by each and every staff member. If you wonder if this review is for real... go into Citizens Springfield with this review, and I bet they know who wrote it! :) Citizens Bank, Springfield Branch gets 5 stars for customer service, professionalism, and great business with a wonderful, old-fashioned personal touch. It keeps moving, it keeps producing something, and somehow you are still exactly where you started, only now the air is worse. Help is not really on the menu here. You get rules read over the top of you by people who have already decided listening would be an unnecessary complication. There are rules on the website, rules on the forms, and rules the people on the phone cite with the confidence of a priest rattling Latin at a smoke alarm. None of them appear to match. Point out that the rule being repeated does not apply and they do not stop to consider it. They just repeat it louder. Every person I dealt with was detached and reeked of condescending deafness, armed with a different laminated fragment of whatever policy they decided was in force that day. Their own form asks how many months you want to skip and offers you a 1 or a 2. Pick the 2 and they deny you for picking the 2. All that smiling language about Credit Unions and helping members turns to BS the moment a payment is late. The friendly little facade comes off, and suddenly you are dealing with just another bank that couldn't care less about your financial problem, trust me, make no mistake, because to them? it IS your financial problem. They make it perfectly clear that nothing you say matters unless it's "yes, I can make the payment now." Otherwise it's "let us know when the financial problem goes away." Be careful not to fall into a hole here. What looks like a helping hand may turn out to be a shovel.

I haven't been able to access my accounts and then my account went past due, and when speaking on the phone to anyone who could help me, it was a different answer and a different process EVERY time we spoke to anyone. Fast forward to calling out of desperation and not wanting our account to get behind further, Member Services transferred me to Collections and instead of understanding our frustration and realizing there was a technical problem with our account, we were threatened by Trent. He talked down to us and was a jerk (trying to not be rude here). I will NEVER recommend this credit union to anyone I like or even people I don't like. NO ONE deserves to be treated this poorly! This week, B of A's online system is terrible and their in-person bankers at this location in particular are shoddy. In this case, the online system could not process a very simple business banking account. The bank required an in-person ID verification. The bank never told her this, she had to proactively call and find out this information. The banker, Brice, required her to set an appointment after a week of flailing and inaction. However, Brice failed to ask my client to bring in all the paperwork he would need to see, and as a result my client could not open her account. Brice refused to take responsibility. He was only interested in telling us about bank policy. B of A is terrible in its own right, and this branch is not up to the professional standards of even the smallest businesses. If this is how they act when they're trying to earn someone's business it's hard to imagine how they'll treat customers from whom they receive no immediate benefit. Take your business elsewhere.

Two weeks later I wrote back to them to find out the reason for the delay. I did not get a response to that email message. Are you kidding? Unbelievable! I ended up getting my home loan from Wells Fargo where I received absolute top notch customer service from the beginning of the process to closing. I am appalled at the lack of customer service at SELCO.
