We stayed at Sunset Resort right after Michael went through. The unit itself is very nice. We have stayed in other units in this building as well and have been happy. This time, there were a couple of minor issues such as debris in the car port area which was cleaned up on the last day of our stay. We were initially given just one key. FFR did arrange for a 2nd one. The cleaning could have been a little better. One of the bedrooms had not been vacuumed. The base of the toilet in the 2nd bathroom had not been properly cleaned. Also, someone left an alarm clock set for 12am. Ha ha! Great fun! Thanks again! This property is NOT really boardsport friendly. The bulkhead directly behind the building has a 7-8' drop to the sound floor. Behind the pool area it is only 5', which is workable but you have to carry your equipment an extra 100'. For windsurfers this is ok because here, the water out to the sound is deep enough and you can sail out without too much trouble. It's very shallow just behind the building. For kiters, it puts you between the resort's pier and then pilings on the adjacent property. The storage locker is ok for kite equipment. Windsurf storage is on the concrete floor of the carport. read more

We booked a first-floor unit (First Flight condos in Kill Devil Hills) and paid in full 3 weeks before our scheduled vacation. $1,400 for a Thursday check-in, Sunday check out. On Monday (3 days before our vacation), we got an email informing us that "there will be some painting and deck work, thank you for your understanding." At 8:30 in the morning of our first day, there is banging, hammering, drilling, nail-gunning, sawing, RIGHT ON OUR OCEANFRONT DECK. A whole crew is tearing down the building's first-floor's exterior and rebuilding it, with the crew on ladders looking right into our unit for the whole day. Some "deck work"! I wish the attached pictures could convey the noise. The constant drilling made walls shake. This goes on 8:30 to 5:00 every day, that is, the hours when people rent such a property on the assumption that they can relax on the waterfront deck, enjoy a glass of wine at the sound of the waves, or at least take a nap in peace. Upon our calling First Flight, a condescending staffer kept repeating the words "unfortunately," "not in our control," "you do what you think you need to do," and the like. I tell you what should be IN THEIR CONTROL: being upfront with customers about the extent of the work being done, the location (literally the renters' unit), and the hours (all day every day). To boot, the garage's lights are not working, and upon arrival our patio was strewn with broken shingles and nails (!!!) apparently from the work being done to the second floor. Upon talking to the neighbors renting another unit, they said (and I quote) "they've seen the last of me." A minimally-professional company would a) block off rental availability of units subject to this kind of rebuilding until completion, b) or at least inform customers of the ACTUAL nature and extent of the work, c) understand that a 3-day "vacation" in such conditions is not worth the full (that is, "regular") price. That they (essentially) told us "too bad, stuff it and get off our phone" speaks very poorly of this company. If you read this, run from these uncaring, unprofessional, condescending crooks. I seldom leave bad reviews, but this experience really cops the prize. read more

Checked in on Saturday, 8/8 - 3G Croatan Surf Club is potentially a beautiful unit. Our low review is a result of the quality service provided by First Flight Rentals (FFR), which is the focus of this review. We attempted to resolve with FFR, and let them know we would be writing about the experience and outcome. They have removed my feedback and blocked me on FB and Instagram. They consistently don't take accountability and place blame on others. Unfortunately, we noted a few maintenance issues that were called into FFR immediately after check in - leaky kitchen sink, broken cabinetry under the sink and unusable pull out trash can cabinet. FFR called back that same evening, and we were told the issues would be addressed the next morning. As we were running out to the store for supplies, the cleaning service asked how things were as we got settled in - which was awesome. They mentioned that the previous guest had also noted the same issue regarding the leaky sink. The next morning, we did not receive any communication regarding timeline or delay. While waiting for the call to fix the sink, we discovered in the main floor bedroom (trundle bunk + day bed) and adjacent bathroom - ANTS - any army of ants, which then was observed in the later evening in the lower level bedroom bathrooms not as many as the main level, but disturbing to find them on the tile foraging - and on the vanity counters. After a few calls to the maintenance line went unanswered, we decided to call the reservation line to reach someone, again, we were told someone will come address - without a timeline. Sunday late afternoon, someone did a ring and dash where we were just left with bag with a package of ant bait on our door. We did decide to go ahead and put down the stations to help attract the ants to the trap instead of being all over our kids, their toothbrushes and stuff in the room - Sunday evening we discovered a few if the ants had migrated over to the kitchen countertops - again, in hopes that the ants will migrate to the traps - we laid them down. Mon. morning, the ants were getting worse and the bait stations weren't helping. We put in a few more calls. That afternoon (2pm), a maintenance person - sweet gentleman - arrived to fix the sink (they were under the impression it was clogged, but understood that wasn't the original complaint and that it was just a leak). The cabinetry wasn't in his ticket to fix, but did take photos to show his daughter Leslie for further instructions. The cabinetry was not fixed the entire time we were there - not a big deal. He also put in a request with his daughter/FFR "owner" that the ant issue is pretty severe to send someone quickly - again, no call back to provide a timeline. A few hours later - we get a knock on the door at 5:30/6pm, while we were preparing and cooking dinner. The pest control technician came to assess the ants and said that he would have to return the next day since we had to start making dinner and our 6 kids in our party were already inside. We arranged for a time mid morning the next day where we weren't cooking and kids were out of the unit. That evening our kitchen experienced an outbreak of ants by that evening, where they moved from the shared wall to the bathroom. Ants were everywhere, crawling over the knife block, counters, walls, on dishes in cabinets and food we had stored away in the cabinets. We decided to throw as many dishes and cutlery we could into the dishwasher to ensure it was clean the next day - and we moved all of our food over to the bookshelf and dining table. We put in a call early Tues to discuss how unacceptable how the living condition was. Ruth was not understanding indicating ants happen. She blamed us for turning away the technician the evening before while cooking dinner. There was no offer to move us - claimed there was no availability - no partnerships with hotels, equivalent accommodations, etc. When we requested reimbursement of our rental fees - they said they had to take it up with the owner because the owner would have to take a hit - and gave a sympathy story that COVID has had a huge impact. If I were the owner - I would have this rental company take the responsibility for not maintaining the unit in rental condition and not taking care of the unit and guests. We requested cleaning services - because who wants to clean a WHOLE house - all surfaces and everything in the kitchen - every appliance, utensil, dish, countertops on vacation - Ruth answered that guests are expected to clean behind the technician, even when on vacation. By checkout on 8/15 - ants were still present just not in the masses, no call follow up on conditions, and no reimbursements of time/products wasted cleaning, packing, unpacking. This place was so peaceful and serene. Went there for a girls trip with my childhood besties to reunite and it was perfect. Everything was very clean, beds were made and towels came wrapped/sealed/sanitized in each room. Parking lot was covered which was nice, because it was raining when we got there. So between that and the elevator, it made loading/unloading much easier. Most beach places that aren't hotels don't have elevators so that was an added plus. It was right across the street from public access walkway to the beach... and they had shower by the pool to rinse off. The beach was also nice. And not too crowded. My favorite was early in the morning, i could go for a walk on the beach and no one was there. You could tell this property is well managed and cared for. We stayed in the penthouse and it had three very nice rooms, all which had their own private bathrooms. read more

Our condo was great! Staff was courteous and responded quickly when I had a question. The condo was clean, kitchen was well stocked(appliances, etc), and our location was great! This is our second year using first flight and we have enjoyed our experience with them both times!! I only wish we knew our schedule for next year to be able to book already again with them. My only complaint would be the walk to the beach it was not easy with the items we had but this is not their fault at all. Hard to have an easy path when there is a sand dune, steps made it hard to carry things. But that's a majority of parts there so what can ya do. read more

Our unit was nothing like we expected. Will not stay in this building or a First Flight unit again. Oven was broken, bottom element was in 2 pieces. Oven light was out. Kitchen light bulbs out or missing. No dust pan. I swept up spider webs and cobwebs off the deck. Deck table was so rusted that you would have to sweep up fallen pieces every morning. I fixed the microwave myself because the fan was so loud you could stand to use it. Luckily I could fix it. View from the deck only allows you to see the ocean if you are standing up as the chairs are so low. Other units have higher chairs/tables to allow you see over the railings. Never seen this before. Called on day 2 and was told "owners furnish their units themselves, not really anything that can be done". read more

I have used First Flight Rentals in the past and have been satisfied. This year we rented a 3 bedroom condo on the second floor at the Croatan Surf Club. Great location and love the pool. The condo layout was great and the condo was well stocked. It could have been cleaned better, a lot of dust in the living area and mold in the bathrooms. The unit could have better mattresses and the carpeting in the bedrooms were really dirty and need replaced. This was a dog friendly unit and unfortunately was flea infested. We did not realize it until the end of our stay. Had to throw away dog beds and give the dog a flea bath. Since we were leaving in a day, I decided to call First Flight after I returned home. Their response was less than adequate. I never expected to return home with fleas and will probably never use First Flight again. read more

Absolutely! I have been coming to OBX for many years, but first time at First Flight. Beginning with the seamless booking process to the last day on the beach, First Flight Rentals is a do over. I stayed in Pelican Perch for a week, the view was amazing and the condo was open and airy and most importantly very clean. Only dealt with staff a couple of occasions when moving from 307 to 310 for another couple of days. They were very prompt in responding, being very friendly and accommodating. Seven Cs condos, apt 304 The location of this condo is nice, with great ocean views and convenient access to the beach. However, the mattresses were very uncomfortable and creaky to the point that you would wake up with every slight move in the middle of the night. The living room sofa was uncomfortable and tight; while there was a tv in the room it was hard to enjoy as a family because of the seating arrangements. Finally the shower curtains were old and had mold at the bottom. read more

I recently stayed at Unit 32 at Waves Village in Rodanthe. I wish I had read these other less than stellar reviews BEFORE I booked my 3rd vacation to a property managed by First Flight Rentals. I stayed in Waves in 2019 and in Sunset in 2016. I NEVER had any issues. The kitchen was well stocked and the place was clean. The rentals were also very reasonably priced. In a post-Covid world, of course, everything is more expensive. The price of the rentals has almost doubled. In my mind, it didn't matter. Not having had a vacation since 2019, I was happy to spend the money and looked forward to the gorgeous views, the spaciousness of the unit, and being able to watch the kiteboarders from the jacuzzi. The condo when we arrived was filthy dirty. The dishwasher had been run, the sink cleaned, and the beds/linens changed. That was all. I had brought a tub of cleaning wipes with me and within 3 hours had used the entire tub and it wasn't enough. There was sand all over the sofa and loveseat. The counters were sticky. The stove had food burned to the burner. The floor had not been vacuumed or washed. The dining room table had crumbs and leftover pieces of food, and there was 1" or more of dust on every surface. I made my way to the bedroom and found previous renters personal belongings left behind and the drawers dusty and full of hair and such. Gross. At dinner, I went to make spaghetti and found NO pots and pans or bakeware in the cupboards. In the morning I found NO hair dryer in any of the bathrooms. I "should" have taken pictures and I "should" have called immediately upon arrival. But, as it was the end of the day and it had taken us 2 days to get there, I cleaned it up and vowed to take action in the morning by writing a detailed email. They responded very quickly apologizing, offering me the $99 admin refund, and said someone would be there that day with the supplies I was missing. They were and they did. But, they didn't address the cleaning issue other than the refund. I had mentioned that it was still dirty despite my cleaning. At no point did they offer to send someone out and pick up where I left off. Reading about the fleas, there was some sort of small insect that I kept finding, but I don't know what it was now. I washed everything as soon as we walked in the door when we returned home. And by the way, we left 2 days early because our allergies were so bad and the vacation really was ruined from all the aggravation and inconveniences. I sent FFR another email to let them know how upset we were. Like previous emails, the manager blamed and shamed me stating she would offer another $100 but was hesitant and wanted me to sign a waiver that I wouldn't post a bad review. I considered the offer insulting and more people should know NOT to stay here especially when vacations are expensive and when you save up like I did only to have it be horrible, I wouldn't want anyone else experiencing this. The excuses I was offered was that inventory of supplies is only taken in April. That people share things between units and don't put them back. That they olive branched me by giving me the $99 admin fee back. That I clearly went out on my own and cleaned the place and didn't give them the opportunity to correct it. That NO ONE else has EVER complained about the cleanliness of the units OR the cleaning team. That the rental had been empty for two weeks and the previous renters DID NOT complain either. That bottom line was they wished me well in staying someplace else and didn't really care that I was a third time customer of FFR. I was astonished by the lack of customer service, but I feel better reading other reviews that show I am not alone in MY experience. I would have been happy to write a great 5 star review if my experience had been like the previous few times, but the fact that the management company takes NO responsibility when it comes to the bigger issues is mind boggling, upsetting, and unacceptable. read more

We loved First Flight Retreat Unit 314. Wow o wow, it's a breathtaking condo. It's truly gorgeous top to bottom, left to right, inside and out. We had gone previously but their renovations were top notch. The bathroom was glamorous as if you are showering on the sandy beach stones of the Mediterranean! It's extremely clean and nice and tidy, airy, open and full of modern elegance beach character, if that makes sense. I just have to say, on behalf of our family of 3, it was the ultimate beach getaway for our simple life without flying over seas. We shopped at the local Publix, HT, fish markets, and cooked regularly. Easy to walk to bars and restaurants. Drank a lot of wine! Tons of beach activity and a lot of resting, too. We recommend unit 314 to others. See you again next year :) read more

Last week we stayed at Croatan Surf Club, Condo 3S and had a wonderful time. The condo was spotlessly clean and well appointed. The beds and furniture were very comfy and the bathrooms were really nice. I love the Croatan Surf Club because of it's cleanliness, its gorgeous, huge, outdoor, saltwater pool, it's indoor pool, and it's awesome location. My only complaint was that the indoor pool isn't very well lit. There were many burned-out lightbulbs that needed replaced. Still, I will continue to come back to this location and even consider purchasing a condo here, because it's so nice. read more

We stayed in Seven Cs. The condo was lovely. Unfortunately the elevator was broken for the entire week. While other renters in the building were told by their real estate agent that the elevators would not be fixed we were merely told (repeatedly) that they would investigate and call back tomorrow. We were also informed (pre-emptively) that if we left early because of no elevator service (which we did) that we would not be eligible for any compensation. read more

We stayed here for a week over the 4th of July 2016 with our 2 grandsons. We've stayed here multiple times over the years. This time was a little disappointing. The main thing was my wife & grandsons got stuck in the elevator for close to 1 hour on one of the hottest days there. No a/c in the elevator car and not even a " I'm sorry' from the management company. Also there was no cell phone access from within the condo. If we wanted to make or receive a call we had to go outside in the hallway. Tried 2 different phones that had 2 different carriers, still did not work. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about our stay in unit 110 Sand, Sun and Fun. Brand new carpets, furniture, and amazing decor. It was impeccably clean & well stocked with linens, kitchen necessities, and a locker full of beach chairs and toys. Pride of ownership shows throughout this beautiful home away from home. The entire property was very well kept. Throughout the week staff was mowing the lawn, vacuuming common areas, cleaning the debris from the garage. It was very clean. The pool was beautiful, and we were just steps to the beach. I hope to stay here again soon. read more

First Flight Rental - Unit 316: Condition of the unity was significantly not as advertised and a health and safety hazard My husband and I, we rented Unit 316 7/11/2020-7/18/2020. I called First Flight Rental weeks before our arrival to ensure the unit is properly cleaned and disinfected as coming during COVID pandemic and with a toddler was already making me extra cautious. This unit is advertised as a corner penthouse with views from elevated platform, plus luxurious tile bathroom and luxury tile floors.The bathrooms are described as modern and distinctive. What we arrived to was completely different, for starters the unit was filthy, floors not washed and not vacumed. I found this unit as a health and safety risk. Wobbly balcony railing, pieces of glass on the floor that when into my toddlers foot, cockroach infestation on balcony and inside the unit, broken window among other things. The unit Manager Ruth O'Sullivan, first offered to come clean the unit, however the next day she has mentioned that the pictures I sent her did not justify the need for the unit to be cleaned again. She offered for a person to come and fix the broken window and the moving railing so my toddler doesn't fall 3 stories. However we had to be in the unit to wait for all these contractors and essentially manage the work for the Management company while also trying to enjoy your trip. The nightmare didn't end there, while sitting outside on the balcony we started noticing huge cockroaches, and then couple days later also started noticing them inside the unit. None of what was described in the advertisement was met.( I also have video to show the faucets were not secured and that the railing is moving) The Management company was extremely rude and basically dismissed our complaints. I love coming to First Flight rentals! Always an amazing experience and it's a really beautiful property. Been coming year and year again ... this year we enjoyed the chairs and umbrellas on the beach. Perfect for any hot day on the beach. They also have paddle boards to rent! The pool (and hot tub) are awesome - great way to keep soaking up the sun in the late afternoon after the beach. Also, got to use the grills - amazing way to wrap up the weekend with friends! Condo had kitchen for cooking - and Keurig for coffee. Looked like it was recently renovated a bit - beautiful! Also, pretty nice smart tv was a huge perk so we could watch Netflix :) Will be back! read more

I use to love this place booked with them several times and referred several people. We had a week in Rodanthe and there was a hurricane warning for one that did not hit. Lost all our money. Understand we should of gotten insurance but when I talked to the manager so rude. No compassion told me it was my fault and there was nothing she could do even yelled at me. It takes a lot for me to write a bad yelp review, especially during these hard times, but I will NEVER rent from this company again!!! The management team was very receptive and quick to respond to a few issues. Would have liked a more comfortable mattress and a better equipped kitchen but we made due. First time renting a condo in OBX and with First Flight. We stayed at Seven C's. The overall place is great! The pool was a great bonus and close walk to the beach is important with kids. The garage space is awesome to keep the car cooler out of the sun, plus there's a storage space to keep beach stuff outside for each unit! The condo was updated recently and in good shape. When we arrived, it was pretty clean. The ceiling fans were not dusted so I contacted the company. They responded quickly and had someone come over to take care of it! The kitchen was well stocked. Linens are ok at best, next time I'll bring my own bath towel. Washer & dryer in unit worked fine too. Dishwasher was extremely quiet! We had a great stay at this unit. I did notice some roaches around the property outside. However, with a lot of moisture, I find it not unusual to have this. I'm glad they weren't in the unit. read more

We stayed at the Croatan Surf Club in Kill Devil for a week. The 3 bdrm condo we stayed in had a nice floor plan. We requested a pet friendly unit with an oceanfront view. The CSC had a second floor room available. The pictures were a bit misleading with regards to the oceanfront view. We could see the ocean from our room if we stood on our tip-toes in the corner of the balcony. The resort had nice amenities such as an indoor and outdoor pool. The kiddie pool was large. The walk to the beach wasn't too far. Parking was plentiful. Some of the major issues we experienced were that the dryer didn't work, the MBR television didn't work, the room wasn't cleaned very well between visits and there were HUGE cockroaches in our unit and on the premises. When we arrived there was a maintenance note on the counter that identified work that needed to be done which included the tv and the washer. We called the mgmt company, first flight rentals, and they told us the note was from the previous week and that the work had been completed. Needless to say, it wasn't. It took 3 days of calling to get a working dryer. The TV was never fixed. On the first day we noticed some things weren't well cleaned but didn't think much of it. However on the second day we went to bath our son and there was a disgusting combination of mold/mildew/ and who knows what else dripping from the faucet. Additionally, we found cockroach carcasses under the couch along with a significant amount of dust and dirt when we had to pick up my son's toys. Given that you pay an additional fee for pets I would have thought this would be an area that would be adequately cleaned after each guest. The finale was when a quarter sized cock roach walk across my son's bedroom floor. The next day we noticed many more on the premise. Given that we paid over 5k for the week we would have expected that the amenities would have worked, the condo would have been cleaner and that regular pest treatment would have been provided by the management. read more

My second time at First Flight Condos as we love the layout, the location and usually the amenities, this time we were in unit 208. Highly disappointed for the price paid for our stay and the condition the bathroom and balcony was in. Black-mold on the shower curtain, in the caulking, hair that was there upon arrival to the bathroom in the tub and on the counter in the bathroom. Spent time cleaning that ourselves even though we are all charged for cleaning at the end of our stay! The balcony has horrible issues with the rail on the balcony and the broken tiles on the balcony flooring. The elevator was broken our entire 7 day stay. The HOA set hours for the pool, 10a-4p...seriously? What do pool hours matter for COVID, it surely wasn't because of someone there to clean. We spent 6 hours at the pool two or three days and only saw a cleaning person walk in wipe the handle to the pool door down and clean one chair arm rails off. Not to mention we were NEVER told till we read the sign on the pool gate. Property manager just kept texting, the HOA set the rules. I get it, but why that time, why not inform your guests? read more

This is my first experience with First Flight Rentals. I can't comment on the location yet because we don't arrive until next week. However I will never use FFR again. When I called the resort just to confirm my reservation I was advised that I still had a large balance. I paid for my vacation in full through FFR at least 8 weeks ago but they have not transferred the funds to the condo. Unless I get this fixed I will have a large balance to pay upon arrival. I am beyond upset and all I get is the answering machine through FFR. Lesson learned - book directly with the resorts - don't use a third party ever again!!! read more

I have removed the names as you requested. The video that you and the other guy do on your website, about COVID, is really misleading especially if you have no control over the cleaning crew that is preparing a unit for the next renter. It is absolutely impossible that our unit was thoroughly cleaned and by extrapolation that would mean I would have no faith that you did any preventative measures to keep us safe from COVID. So you as the property manager have no control over what the cleaning staff did to any unit? So they can work maskless? How can you state that all of these COVID preventative measures are being done? Smoke & Mirrors! Your reply is disingenuous in that it makes it look like your team was so responsive and caring and nothing could be further from the truth. Your property manager is rude and inconsiderate and she will cost you business over the long run. I am not the first person to point that out to you, nor post it online, and I will not be the last. She is a horrible property manager one of the worst I've ever dealt with. However, it also documents how much was wrong with the unit and what a bad job is being done to keep it up for rentals. The maintenance man, that you wish that I not name, is your best asset for a reason. I want to be very clear about something. On the second day, we asked for maid service in the morning. Your team rep said she had misunderstood and thought we were just complaining again about the unit being filthy. When I called back the property manager invoked a nonexistent North Carolina law that would not allow the cleaning team to come back and clean the unit for the duration of our two-week stay. If you say you personally witnessed a call, on Monday, where I refused maid service then at best you have very poor memory, and at worst you're mendacious. I noticed that you took down and blocked my review on Facebook which leaves the impression that anybody who stays at FFR only has positive experiences. That seems to be a theme with your management company we only want to represent things that go right. Have you noticed the other negative reviews of your management company on the only site that you can't block negative reviews from? We are coming back to the Outer Banks in October and we're going to take you up on your offer to rent from another management company and another property. Since we have rented at FFR for many years, different units and different owners, I'm quite sure the orders will be happy that you've driven away a paying customer. One last thing, I never asked for nor expected reimbursement; I wanted the owner/ management company to do what they're supposed to do, while I'm trying to have a well earned two-week vacation at a property, that is held up to be a five-star getaway. read more

We spent Christmas at Croatan Surf Club, unit 3H. The condo was clean and comfortable, with luxurious touches (spa tub, nice appliances). The location is perfect (on the beach, easy access to shopping for necessities). The instructions preparing us for arrival/departure were clear and communication from the rental company was prompt. Overall it was a great experience. read more

We've stayed at First Flight Retreat 3x over the past 4 years, primarily due to the location. Over that time there has been some apparent neglect. The pool area has cracked areas and a broken ladder. It could also use a good cleaning. The units have areas that need caulking, sealing and repainting. Unit 111 has stains on the carpet throughout. Upon arrival I had to clean out a bathroom sink clogged with hair and the kitchen sink had food particles and an avocado pit left in it. One of the beds had a blood stain on the mattress. In prior years we've had issues with the hot tub not being clean. The location no longer compensates for the lack of cleanliness. We'll be looking elsewhere next year. read more

We have stayed at the Croatan for years. This was the first year First Flight took over as the management company. HORRIBLE service and management of this unit. They charge $50 for 3 hour early arrival (previous company did not, and let us in when it was ready -- this is a common courtesy at other companies, at OBX and elsewhere. If it's ready, you can us it; if not, wait til later). When we entered the unit was not really clean--food remnants, etc. left in a bowl on counter, showers had grime in the corners, etc. it didn't feel very clean. They sent the cleaning crew back over after we had taken care of it ourselves. We also noticed that some of the furnishing were gone--we had stayed in this unit several times before. The sofa bed in the master was gone, lamps were gone, etc. Evidently as things broke they were not replaced The kitchen was infested with ants. We discovered after a day or so the dish washer did not clean the dishes--they came out dirtier than they went in. The cabinets were full of greasy, dirty dishes, flatware, pans and glasses. There were broken glasses in the cabinet (wine glasses with chunks of glass on the shelf). One of the bathroom sinks was clogged. When we called to tell them about the major issues (like the dishwasher and sink) we informed them we would just deal with it--but we wanted them to be aware. (there are many instances of being blamed and charged after departure for unresolved issues that weren't reported) We were ok with hand washing dishes. We were on vacation and just wanted to chill--not sit around waiting for people to come clean and fix things that should have been in order when we took possession (especially since they had the extra $50). Instead, the rental office called repeatedly that week, leaving increasingly unpleasant voice mails informing us we better be at the unit to meet the repair man and exterminator on their schedule (mid-week). Sorry, I don't take my cell on the beach. They were downright nasty every time we had an interaction with them. There was no effort to be accommodating or an "I'm sorry for the inconvenience" Not once did they ask what we wanted to do to address the issues--which would have been nothing, as we just wanted to make them aware to fix after we were gone--and we didn't want blamed or charged for any repairs needed. I was on vacation--not baby-sitting their condo repairs. On one of the last calls "Joyce" informed me that because we had a dog with us they would now charge us extra. She claimed they hadn't known we had a pet. It was no secret, and THE ONLY REASON WE RENTED THIS UNIT WAS BECAUSE IT ALLOWED PETS. She informed me they were going to charge our card AGAIN for an extra pet fee. Nice. They already advertised as pet friendly, these units typically cost a little more for that reason, and there's already "extra charges" on my agreement for $50. Joyce informed me that there was supposed to be a check box on the form to note a pet. Pretty sure that $50 is the extra fee for a pet. There is no way to see the actual contract or form she is talking about because the confirmation only refers to the amounts due--not every option you can accept or decline. The only one I'm positive about seeing is the check box to decline travel insurance, which we did. That shows up on our summary. On Wednesday of our vacation week they proceeded to charge us $140 and change for our dog, which I am pretty sure we already paid for. My husband visited their office and told them to stop calling and just leave us alone--their interactions were borderline harassment. Not only did they keep tacking on fees after we arrived, the issues we reported and they insisted on fixing were never resolved. The exterminator never showed, the dishwasher repairman could not fix the machine, and they didn't bother to close the loop on anything. Customer service is certainly not one of their core values. They are about milking a guest for as much as they can get. When you are paying over $4k for a week at the beach, the last thing you want is to be harassed and barked at by the rental company agent. The good news is that most of units in that building are managed by their competitor--we'll be using them next time. First Flight is a crash and burn at take off. read more
