I can't say enough good things about this company and their team! First, I randomly saw their truck outside of my apartment complex and called them. It was not a search engine that gave me their information. I called to get a quote and scheduled a virtual walk-through with Donny, who was GREAT. He asked questions like "does that bed need to be taken apart?" or "do we need to bring TV boxes to move the TV's?". He answered my many questions and I had the quote back very quickly (I want to say 48 hours) and was able to book my move immediately. Second, the team of movers on the moving day were FANTASTIC. There were four movers and they were all pleasant with me and each other, joking and laughing but never dilly-dallying. They stayed on point and on target the entire time. My apartment was situated clear across the complex to the loading dock but there was never any complaining about that part, even though I was apologizing profusely. They were done loading my apartment in 2.5 hours, ate lunch, and unloaded me into my new home by 3pm. This included putting my bed back together and my boy's bunk bed. Truly, this was so worth every penny I spent and their estimate actually came in higher than what I ended up paying. I was able to get situated in my new home very quickly because the boxes were put in the rooms that were labeled and they put everything where I had asked them to. Absolutely recommend this company. While I hope I don't have to move anytime soon, because, let's be honest, it sucks real bad...I would 100% call them again to move me in the future. read more

We used First Class Moving and Storage for our move to senior housing in Evanston. The facility recommended them. The estimate was done with our cell phone. Painless. The movers were courteous, efficient and fast. Note: all drawers must be emptied. In past moves, with other movers, full drawers were pulled out and replaced in the truck. I can certainly understand this based on liability issues, but it was a lot more work for me. I actually had to go through 40+ years of files. We hired First Class Movers for a move from California to Oklahoma. Everything went well until they got to our new house in Oklahoma. We noticed that there was something strapped to the back of the 18 wheeler and ask them if that was our things. They told us no that that was going to Illinois and they would move it into the truck as soon as they unloaded our things. Come to find out those where our things strapped to the back of the 18 wheeler. It was my down stuffed sofa and my mattress to my bed. Packed in a plastic zipper bag. these things were completely ruined as we had had a torrential rain storm the night before. Cost of replacing those items is about $8000. Also many legs of chairs and armoires were broke off. When we called to complain they told us that we were threatening them. They then threatened us with a lien on our home..after we had paid them for all moving costs. I can't say enough great things about First Class Moving. They moved us from a third-floor walkup in Lincoln Park to a three-story single family home in Irving Park. We have A LOT of stuff and they packed us very efficiently with a three-person crew on one day and moved us with a six-person crew the following day. The entire crew was professional, careful with our things and thoughtful in so many ways. For example, they unpacked our bedding and wardrobe boxes, specially marked the boxes of dog toys and dog beds and opened the boxes containing plants. I can't tell you what a relief it was to make the bed properly our first night in the new house and have essential clothes handy. Willis (the dog) appreciated being able to snuggle up in his favorite bed and quilt right away. All of our fragile items came through the move in perfect safety, including antiques, mementos from our travels, large framed items and wine collection. Donny Nussbaum did our estimate and I will be forever grateful that he didn't raise an eyebrow at my overstuffed office/craft room. They even had a FaceTime call arranged to review & access how many trucks we would need and how much heavy furniture we had. On Moving day they were absolute Rock stars rolling up with 6 movers that cautiously & methodically shrink wrapped all of our furniture & tirelessly moved all of our boxes. They placed Blankets around the large furniture to ensure for safe keeping & transport. But most surprisingly they handled my 1000 LB exercise equipment like absolute champs! Here's how our interaction went. We called, booked a date, and scheduled an estimate. We received the estimate, and immediately called to confirm that amount was fine. We were told the computer systems were currently "down" and were told we'd get a call back right away. Waited 24 hours and nothing. Called back. Said the estimate was fine, and were told again they had computer issues and to please hold. We were then told they didn't have our date or name (a lie as the estimator arrived knowing our name and date) and never received our deposit...not during the initial call or at any point during the estimate were we asked to pay a deposit. We were left having wasted weeks, scrambling, and clearly lied to on multiple occasions. If you want a reliable mover, don't use First Class. read more

I called 1st Class Movers and spoke with Ranan on 3.18.24 who assured me that the date I needed for moving was open and could be booked. He was going to call me back with the details. No call back so I left a VM on Saturday 3.23.24 (when they were open BTW) and STILL no call back by Monday the 25th. Called again and spoke to Heidi (the manager) who said they are booked all of May and won't have anything until June. When I asked why I was told it wouldn't be a problem, she said there was nothing she could do, Ranan "typically" returned all calls. I explained that I also left a VM and she said they usually respond to voice messages too. Apparently what they "usually do", is not really have any concern for what their team promises a customer. We have used many moving companies over the years. The big national ones, and local. This is by far the best. From the low pressure estimate process by Garth to the move it self, it was "First Class." The team led by Steven were polite and very efficient. They take time to wrap all the furniture and pad it. The cost, including all that is comparable to others. We've had crews from other companies who were rude and complained. Not this team. They were very good, joked with each other, made suggestions on where to put things. An all around very good experience. Highly recommended. We will use them again if we need to move. read more

The gentlemen were well dressed, polite and kept everything in the whole house so clean. All my possessions were delivered in perfect condition. The old owner was there and even commented that they were nothing like her movers. I wish they could have moved me back to Illinois. But they did move me from a storage locker in November 2019. We selected First Class Moving & Storage, as it was a member of the Better Business Bureau, a sign that the company was customer focused among other things. Moving is always strenuous, but First Class handled the job extremely well. It was a 2 part move--our choice. An experienced crew of 8 arrived on time at our vintage multi-unit building. They worked efficiently, quietly, and as a team, carefully wrapping furniture. What we also appreciated was that First Class had different types of trucks to accommodate varying loading dock sizes. Our dock was small, but the trucks could pull inside the dock area, thereby avoiding loading possessions on the street. At the other end, the same crew moved boxes and furniture into place, removing packing materials. It was a positive experience all around for both moves and highly recommend the company. read more

Our move was fairly large--6 bedrooms, move across country. These guys are really good at what they do. Their teams are friendly, their customer service people are responsive, and they do what they say they are going to do. On moving days, they're on time, respectful and take great care at packing and moving your things. We had a move from the Chicago area out of state, and the goods arrived in remarkably good shape. As with every move, some things are bound to break, but the number of things in our move with First Class was remarkably small, and they took responsibility for the things that did (I've had movers in the past, who point the finger). They cost a little more than other companies, but in the grand scheme of things, do yourself a favor. Moving is stressful. We used these guys for moving and storage and they could not have been easier or more professional throughout everything. They arrived on time, packed everything up quickly and were very communicative the whole time. They stored our entire house for 3 months in a temperature controlled warehouse (which not all moving companies have). We used First Class for a local move this past weekend, and overall it was a really positive experience (well, as positive as a move ever is). When Donny came to do the estimate, he was super polite and very thorough. Maybe too thorough - he estimated that it would take them 7 hours to move the contents of my 2 bedroom house, which resulted in an estimate that I was shocked by. Thankfully, I had faith that they would not actually need that long, and I was right. On the day of the move, they showed up promptly (early even) and were really efficient. My husband supervised the move-out while I was at the new house getting things ready. He spoke highly of their speed and care. They really listened to what we wanted and needed moved (there were a few things that weren't coming with us). The move out took less than 2.5 hours, which was WAY less than I had even expected, as it took a different moving company longer than that when we lived in a much smaller apartment. My only gripe comes in now - it took them more than 45 minutes to get from the old house to the new. It took my husband less than 15 minutes, and he stopped for coffee. I understand that it takes them longer, being in a truck, but this seemed excessive and was frustrating because I'm obviously paying for that time. Once they got to the new house, I was very impressed with the efficiency. The crew head walked through the house with me and put up post-its labeling where I wanted various pieces of furniture and "naming" the rooms so that they matched the labels on my boxes. They were fast without feeling rushed or careless. They did a great job at re-assembling our furniture (tv on tv stand, beds). In the end, I think we paid for 4.25 hours plus some supplies. The total amount we paid was maybe 60% of the original estimate, which made me really happy and confirmed my decision to use them despite the original sticker shock. Moving is always unpleasant, but First Class made it that much less so. I hope not to move again anytime soon, but if I have to, I know who I'll call! read more

I could not provide a higher review for First Class. We had a duplex down condo in the city with several large items in the basement (piano, elliptical). We also had a large wine cabinet on the first floor that the furniture company could barely get into the house. First Class lived up to their name! They came the day before and packed everything for us. We didn't lose a single thing due to breakage. On the day of the move they had worked with local police to ensure the proper no parking permits were up and had two trucks with five guys working with us. This is the second time we've used 1st Class Moving and went back because of the awesome job they did the first time. We had to have our hardwood floors refinished and needed everything out and moved to the 2nd floor and/or garage then 4 days later moved back. They moved everything with efficiency, nothing broken, and great care was taken even though things were moving within the same house. They were prompt, worked quickly and didn't waste any time. They were masters at fitting all the puzzle pieces together to squeeze a dining room and living room into a small loft space and partial bedroom space. I have moved 6 times in New York and Chicago. First class outdid all other moving companies, speed, safety and rates. We did a 4 stop move for a 4 bedroom house with artwork and an 8' 6 six seater glass table there was 0 damage. It was raining the day of the move but no water entered any houses because of preventive measures they had. All movers had masks and would put on booties inside the house. They disposed of the boxes as we unpacked. Highly recommend using these guys if you want a smooth move. read more

I made a yelp account specifically to rate this First Class Moving and Storage. I am supposed to be moving today and had a time from 9-11am set up. It is now 10:30am and no one has shown up. I have no way to contact the driver and no way to know where they are. I have called the off site answering service multiple times and they have transferred me to customer service three times where the phone rang off 17 times and then gave me an option to leave a voicemail. On top of this I have a flight to catch today and need to have my possessions moved ASAP. I'm so mad right now, but most of all I am so disappointed in how First Class Moving and Storage has treated me with disrespect and leaving me in the lurch. read more

Don't bother. Ripped off beyond belief. Worst experience ever! We received a quote from First Class Movers which we felt was reasonable. Boy were we fooled. They arrived 7 hours late, and the quoted rate was immediately almost tripled. Felt quite taken and told them to leave, but were then told we would have lost our deposit. Plus needed to be out that day. They took the furniture to a storage facility for a few days. Finally received a call that they will deliver our items by a different group of movers and we will have to pay an additional $3,000. Not sure how these other clients are giving 4 stars. They provided sufficient labor to efficiently pack and move our 3 BR home (6 hours to pack and 6 hours to complete the move from Arlington Heights to Evanston). We've been in the same home for 12 years and did not relish the thought of moving our 3BR, 2BA house full of stuff. First Class Moving made the entire thing as pleasant as possible! They were professional, responsive and efficient from the folks I initially spoke to at the office, to the fellow they sent to the house to prepare the estimate, and especially the foreman George and his crew (total of 5 guys in two trucks) who showed up on time, as scheduled, on the day of the move. We've used other companies in the past for smaller moves who have shown up late, taken more time, cost much more money, and have not offered anything close to the level of service that First Class gave us on this move. The overall move took 5 hours (estimate was 8) - and came in a few hundred dollars UNDER the estimate! And they did not comprise on being careful, even though they were fast. Not a scratch, not a dent, not a chip on any single item. I would strongly recommend First Class to anyone needing professional movers.
