Definitely one of my top choices for family style Chinese food. This location particularly does well. Came with a group of friends this time. We ordered the Peking pork, crispy salted pepper shrimp, salt & pepper crispy tofu, stir fry watercress, Peking duck, house crispy noodles, bbq pork fried rice, & Szechuan eggplant with pork. Sounds like a lot but it was definitely well enjoyed by my group of 7. This is definitely the best way to spend a Sunday - sharing good food with friends & byob. Obviously this place has enough reviews but I still want to add my 2 cents :) For those of you who are queasy at looking at dead hanging animals this may not be the place for you. As you walk in to your right you will see ducks, pigs, etc hanging in an enclosed case. Personally this doesn't bother me so on to the food/service. I would call this a family style restaurant in that the orders are huge. I really think we could of ordered one entree for the 4 of us but where's the fun in that. The menu is huge and the food is great! We ordered chicken fried rice for the little one. It was very good. The only thing I wish I would of requested was white meat only but other then that it was delicious. I ordered the crispy chicken with lemongrass which is on the chefs speciality list. The way they cook most of their meat is in chunks meaning you will have bones so be careful. I typically don't like this but the chicken was so good, tender and juicy that it didn't bother me this time. The lemongrass added the perfect touch. My husband ordered the pork and chicken over rice. Again this was very good. The chicken was huge pieces of bone in dark meat that my husband happens to love. Then they brought over another huge bowl of steamed rice which my daughter was devouring. This is not your typical chinese food which I loved. They have some of your typical dishes but with a flair. Go to where the other Asians are eating, I told my parents as we were visiting TX for the first time. They craved Chinese so with the recommendation from my friend we went here and was certainly not disappointed. The wonton noodle soup I had was spot on, as was the roast duck, and roast pork. The woman who runs this place is a horrible person. Every time we've been there she is incredibly rude and unpleasant. While the food is good, we've finally decided it's not worth it. She's especially rude to Asian people, which is a greater issue when I'm there with my spouse. The First Chinese BBQ is THE place for me to get Cantonese style roast duck, roast pork, and some other authentic dishes. We ordered: Egg noodle w/ Oyster Sauce - this comes with a few slices of char siu on top and a huge bowl of MSG laden broth. The flavor was pretty much what I expected it to be, but I was expecting a little more meat, and at least some sliced green onion and a little sliced ginger to go with it.. some sauce from the char siu would have been good too. Don't suggest this one. Wonton noodle soup - wontons are good! egg noodles in the soup looked dead, so wouldn't suggest getting it. Just order the wonton soup. Also, try skipping the broth laden with MSG. Salted fish + chicken fried rice - YES!!! This is good here and is exactly what I had expected it to taste like. I can't speak for the other dishes but I assume that other cantonese "cafe" style dishes would be good here.. Roast duck - Not bad here! Would order again. Came here for some authentic Cantonese barbeque. We ordered BBQ pork, pig ears and pig instestine. They were very authentic and delicious. They also cut them for you. Parking: Parking is ample and wasn't an issue. Food: My family ordered several entrees. The entrees are served in a typical family style mostly known to Chinese people. It's clear that their specialty is the BBQ pork. It's sweet, rich, and a little fatty. Their young chow fried rice is very tasty. Usually that's something I wouldn't eat. Some other great dishes include their duck or beef and chinese brocoli. Beware their food is on the salty side as they're pretty liberally add a lot of flavor in their food. Ambience: The place is crowded and small. I visited the place on a monday and it still seemed to be busy. Service: The service was really awful. Which is a sign of a good chinese restaurant. Be hopeful that you'll get waters with your food. I would actually order several extra drinks ahead of time or take your food to go. Overall: This is the place to go for authentic chinese cuisine. Also really tasty are the garlic chicken, "hollow green vegetable", the young chow fried rice. Very nice won ton soup and hot-and-sour soup. Craving some good authentic Hong Kong or Cantonese food, we headed to Richardson... we yelped to see if there was anything that sounded decent and ended up here. Wow, was it good! I found it last week and have now been there 4 times. It is mildly out of the way for me, but it is so worth it! Having grown up in Hawaii, I have certain expectations from my Chinese food, and I just wasn't finding it in the other places around... I mean, I like P.F. Chang's for what it is, but it isn't what I crave daily. Loved the roast duck and char siu. Haven't had the roast pork yet because I can't seem to order anything but the roast duck and char siu. Liked the wontons, but that was never my thing, so I don't have to have them. Didn't like the "Mixed Vegetable Platter" - had this brown sauce that reminded me of the Americanized Chinese dishes that I just can't get used to. Liked the beef chow fun, but it really didn't rank up there with the roast duck and char siu. One more order of roast duck, char siu, choy sum noodle soup for me please. read more

OMG Best Chinese food around! I've been frequenting the Arlington location for years but I've been to the Richardson location a few times and the quality is on par with the original. Great wonton noodle soups. Try the BBQ pork. OMG the duck! I'm in love with the orange chicken too! Seriously, have fun with the menu and find out what your favorites are. I come here all the time! I abso lutely love this place! There flat noodle shrimp wonton soup is sooo good especially if you add a little chilli oil. I add a lot, but whatever heat you can handle should do the trick. I also love eating there beef flat noodle. (something about flat noodles im obsessed about lol) They stir fry the noodles and the beef is flavorful and tender. Becareful though some First Chinese BBQ take cash only, i think this location takes both CC and cash not sure though. If you are new though, you should also try the salty chicken, it comes with a sauce that has ginger, oil, and green onions. when you dip the chicken with that sauce its an amazing experience. The chicken is very tender and juicy. Will knock your socks off. Also another one of my favs is the curry chicken. It's very filling and not too salty like most curry dishes. Just the right amount of spices. I could go on and on, but practically everything here is good, which is rare for restaunts. read more

First Chinese BBQ is great if you want truly authentic chinese food! I have been going here since high school and it blows my mind every time I go back! The very first time I went I had a dish with broccoli in it and the waitress asked me... chinese or american? and I said.... uuh well chinese I suppose and boy was I shocked! This is probably the best place for authentic Chinese cuisine in the metroplex; there is definitely a scarcity of good Chinese restaurants. Service is rough (though that's to be expected at Chinese restaurants in general) and food presentation isn't great (it's just haphazardly thrown onto a plate), but the food is very good. I've sampled a variety of dishes and don't think I've ever been disappointed. It is cash only (tax evasion?) though so be sure you bring some! read more

Great place, even though I've never actually tried out the BBQ. I've been going here since I was young and it's always been consistent and good. Their wonton soup is the best I've ever had (cue Drake) and we always get the shrimp lo mein is off the hook. It's with a traditional egg noodle and not the thicker ones you're probably thinking of. The beef flat noodle is also really really good; kinda greasy, but so irresistible. Crispy noodles here are great as well. The staff is also friendly and will take care of you right away. Food usually always comes out pretty quickly. I've heard that this Greenville location is the best one, but the one on Walnut in Garland and the one in Austin pretty much tastes like this one, so they're all good. Came here after class on Tuesday evening because zee boyfriend was wanting Asian food. To our fault, we didn't realize that they didn't take card. But the manager was nice about it (it was like he was used to this normal occurance) and I stayed behind while my boyfriend rushed to the ATM. The waitress was friendly! I went there with aunts and uncles and they treated us like we weren't going to pay tip. The old lady who took our money demanded tip while we were paying. We told her we'll put it on the table when we're ready. As we were talking after the meal drinking tea the old lady who took our money literally walked to our table and around just to make sure we left a tip. Located in a small plaza, this place offers amazing, authentic Cantonese food at an affordable price. The waitress was nice and prompt; she kept on apologizing for food being served late, but that's totally fine - they tried to serve that many hungry customers like us! I love their Charsiu pork and roasted duck rice, which reminds me of my hometown. One star deducted due to the roasted duck being a little bit undercook (one piece was hard to chew and still red). 1 star for the manager and the man who chops the roasted ducks. I went to the First BBQ in Richardson for the first time and ordered 2 roasted ducks to go. When they put the ducks in the to go box with some sauce, i told them that when i bought roasted ducks at other locations such as in Plano and Arlington they normally gave me the sauce that they got from inside the roasted ducks. They told me "This is the same!". The sauce they gave me looked like soy sauce mix with water, sugar whatever, but the sauce from the roasted duck has different colors and texture, richer... so i said it is not the same. Both of them showed their attitude just like to ask me to get out of there. So rude and not nice at all. When we go out to buy food, we expect to have good food and good feeling to enjoy it but here... Well, just never ever come back then. read more

This place seems like a tax dodge operation. Some people are able to pay with credit card but they force others to pay with cash only. They make you go across the street to use an ATM even though there are people next to me who were able to use credit cards. They also refuse to give you a receipt, and they add sales tax on top even though they are probably just pocketing everything. read more

I really like this place. It is very similar to the places I grew up going to in Boston's Chinatown. Went with a group of 4 friends armed with wine (its BYOB) and cash thanks to previous suggestions. We ordered a ridiculous amount of food...we probably had 12 dishes to share & the bill was only about 1/4 of what we would have paid in Dallas. The food was delicious...we had the signature BBQ Pork Fried Rice, Beef Chow Fun (wide noodle), Wonton Soup, soft shell crab and several other dishes. Everything was delicious. The portions are enormous and we had leftovers for the next 3 days...which is a bonus in my house. Try it!! You won't be disappointed. read more

A simple statement, but also a testament to the deliciousness and quality of the meats and sauces at First Chinese BBQ. Any of the meats are great - I've thoroughly enjoyed various pork, chicken, and beef dishes, with my favorites being the wonton soup with noodles and shrimp dumplings, orange beef, and any of the fried rices. The orange beef is perfectly crisp, while the fried rice includes a generous amount of the meat (or meats) of your choice. Best to come in a large group, as the portions are straight up huge, and each entree can easily feed two. My problem is I usually go in a group of two, and feel like I have to have a fried rice and an entree. So it ends up costing me a little more, but definitely worth it when you're eating the leftovers. Definitely worth the drive from anywhere in town. But don't forget to bring your cash. Even the roast duck and BBQ pork is delish. Haven't tried all the food there yet but so far everything is good. Ok so came here for the first time few weeks. This is one of those places you would picture walking into in Thai land or something.. even though it's not Thai Food. I don't mean this in a bad way at all. That kind of feel. The food portions were big, juicy, spicy and fresh. Crunchy veggies, good portion of chicken & very good rice. I ordered Hunan Chicken and was very pleased. I used to go here a lot in college, but I was never completely in love with it. There is a language barrier. They know some English, but it's not very good. They do have some good dishes, but I wish they would cook their chicken with white meat. The sesame chicken is good, but I don't really like it that much, as it's mostly dark meat, and has that greasy almost "not cooked" feeling. You also have to ask for silverware. I can't use chopsticks to save my life. Also, this is cash only. Major bummer. I am not a big meat eater, and hence my reviews are strictly based on the few dishes I could dare myself to eat. Overall, its not a fancy place, but has a decent size sitting area and a nice staff. This place is strictly cash only and quite inexpensive. I tried the spicy chicken which if you ask them to make it spicy, it will be spicy! For the vegetarians, they do have some decent vegetarian options like spicy tofu and different types of greens. The spicy tofu is a definite hit, but I didn't really find the veggies that interesting. They also had stuff like pig uteri and head and tons of dishes I had never heard of.I wish I could make myself try the pig ears which is supposed to be a delicacy..oh well, maybe next time!
