My daughter and I went to this restaurant for what they call brunch. We had the chicken sandwich. I was extremely disappointed - my bread was hard and it was not from grilling the roll to me it was like it was an older roll and the tomatoes were not fresh they were soggy and mushy like they had been sliced a few days ago. I asked for another cup of coffee and the waitress went to the kitchen and then cleaned a table but she never came with the coffee and I had waited 15 minutes for it; so I asked for the check and that is when we were asked how the food not before - I did let the waitress know how bad my sandwich was. We went there for our anniversary and were well cared for by the hostess. Our waitress seemed to have been delayed by something so we didn't get to order for about 15 minutes. Once she appeared, it was 6 minutes before she got to us. The food was good and we would go again. Clearly we got the B team for service, but the restaurant staff was otherwise attentive. read more

Saw the great reviews here and wanted to give it a try. While staff was friendly, our server seemed to be rushed and just about everything we ordered came out wrong. We started with beers; mine was skunked and my husband ordered a pilsner in a bottle and received a draft of Magic Hat. He mentioned that he didn't think this was the right beer and then received a stout somehow as a replacement. At this point, he gave up. 30 minutes later, the wrong pizza order showed up at the table (and our appetizer hadn't made an appearance). Oops. read more

We were tired and hungry and just needed to be fed in a pleasant atmosphere. But the food was good enough here to make me sit up and take notice. The garden salad was fresh and a good size, and the shaved fennel made it a bit more special than your typical garden salad. The dressing was good too; I think it had fresh herbs in it. I got a margarita pizza thinking hey, they can't screw that up too much -- and again, it was much better than expected. The crust was quite thin but still very flavorful - lightly olive oil-y like I like it, rather than floury like some thin-crust can be. It actually crunched when I first bit into it. The simple margarita flavors were done well; I wolfed it down. My b.f. got the vegetable risotto with truffle oil. The dish could easily pass in a much higher-end place; it had a sprinkle of micro greens on top that added to the flavor beyond being just a trendy garnish. Excellent dinner & dessert with excellent atmosphere. My husband had the burger and I had the grilled chicken sandwich. Both cooked to perfection and tasted great. Loved the pepericino mayo. I'm a big fan of this place and have gone a few times now, most recently this past Friday night, July 6th, 2012. I had the Sopa de Lima and a spinach salad, both spectacular. My husband had the special pizza and I have to say the crust was perfect. Just the right amount of crunch and soft to hold up to the toppings. I have to preface this with the fact I am a big fan of the one in Brattleboro. Stopped in Saturday evening and the place was pretty busy, due to the festival downtown. Promptly seated, and we were assured that the bartender knew what they were doing as we ordered drinks, then got them made incorrectly. Ordered the crisp fried risotto, arugula salad and a pizza, all pretty good, however the whole experience would have been awesome if only the waitstaff was attentive. Awful, went in last night to get dinner with some friends I haven't seen in forever. Our server was very rude, and our food took very long. A lady came to our booth that was sitting behind us (it was 7:45pm mind you) about how she has a four year old and that we needed to watch our language. First of all, we weren't even being loud, but as any parent with a brain knows, bringing your toddler into a bar, especially at 8pm, is a big no-no. By the time 30 minutes went by, our food still hadn't arrived. I don't recommend this horrible place to anyone. Bad service, bad patrons, that is all. Beautiful decor. Attentive waitstaff. Our burger was close to raw. Parsnip fries lacked flavor of horseradish and rosemary as described. Broccoli Rabe was drenched in oil. Fried Calamari was perfect: crispy and tender; sauce was flavorful with pepperoncini. Raviolis we're delicious, as well. All-in-all our experience was hit-and-miss which we felt was below our standards and disappointing. Waitress did delete unsatisfactory items from the bill, which was greatly appreciated. read more

What a disappointment. The service was s.l.o.w. I got a mixed drink and it was very weak. The waitress told us that the salads were meal sized so we got one to split before dinner. It was small, had little or no dressing and had some sort of bitter greens in it which overpowered the whole salad. Then the pizzas came. My husband's gluten-free was sort of like a cracker crust with very little spice and mine was dry and pretty tasteless too. Not a good place to go for pizza. I would much rather have just gone to Ramunto's. This place is trying to be upscale and does an okay job with atmosphere but everything else leaves much to be desired. read more

Huge fan of the decor and open atmosphere. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Had gone a few times for cocktails, the signature list here offers something that no other bar in Keene does - with a collection of drinks that run the gamut from champagne cocktails to a devilishly decadent bacon old fashioned, made with bacon bourbon. The pizzas, while pricey, are exactly the kind of thing you want to eat while sipping a cocktail, I highly recommend the "blue moon" pizza which has butternut squash, blue cheese, and roasted chicken on it. Came to Fireworks with a party of 30. The food was beautifully prepared and very original. We had a sampling of appetizers, all of which were fantastic. I highly recommend the baked feta with crostini. I had the cedar planked salmon entree. I can honestly say it's the best salmon I've ever had. The specialty cocktails were fun. The servers worked hard but struggled to keep up with our large group. That was the only blemish on an otherwise great experience. read more

Pretty good, not great. Had the potugese pasta, which was clams, mussels and sausage in a supposedly tomato sauce. It was decent, but had far to few clams compared to sausage, and wasn't spicy at all. Started with a arugla salad which was again decent, but basicly just a pile of arugla with some parm on it. My friend had a shrimp risotto which looked pretty good. I saw some other table get some tasty looking pizzas, so maybe I'll come back sometime to try those. read more

Visited Fireworks for dinner good drinks, salad, calamari, Pizza was right up there with some of the worst i have ever had. An oven baked cracker no flavor. My husband and I were in Keene for the weekend and ate here both nights, even thought we didn't plan to. We went in to try the pizza and also got a ravioli appetizer. The food was amazing, unique and reasonably priced. The mix of flavors was delicious. The restaurant is beautiful and impeccably maintained. The wait staff is courteous and the owner? came to check on us on both nights. They use local produce - the mushroom farmer was dining not far from us. We enjoyed it so much, we went back a 2nd night and tried some different dishes and they were beautiful as well. Don't forget dessert - many made in house. We were very happy with our choice of dining and plan to go again if we are in Keene or Brattleboro. read more

My son took me to Father's Day dinner at Fireworks. The environment was pretty good, possibly a bit on the dark side unless you are seated (as we were) by the front window. The menu looked good with lots of options. I decided to have the homemade veggie burger, and I am glad I did. It was great. The fries with it were good too. I decided to have a Caesar salad to add some green to the meal. That was a mistake. I have had Caesar salads all over the world but this was the first one with tomatoes and cucumbers. To add to the uniqueness of the salad the large croutons were soggy as if they had been sitting in dressing since lunch. Definitely the worst Caesar salad i have ever had. When I brought it to the delightful young waitress's attention she apologized and offered to have a new one made. But by that time we were almost finished with our burgers so it didn't seem appropriate. The salad was on the cheque however, which surprised me. Keene has a lot of restaurants. I am sure to try them all before returning to Fireworks. read more

Food is generally excellent. On this particular night was staying at the hotel and showed up at just after 9 with 3 other unassociated patrons looking for dinner. Even though they showed on their advertised hours as being open until 10, the bartender advised the 3 of is that they "had just closed" and we were turned away. Despite the rain, had to walk to another downtown spot. Not sure where I will end up on future trips to the area if the stated serving times can't be relied upon. If I could rate with 'Negative Stars' I would. This was singlehandedly the most terrible restaurant experience I have EVER had. DO NOT eat here. Ever. The staff was RUDE and inattentive; the food was ABSURDLY OVERPRICED for the SMALL QUANTITIES and POOR QUALITY; and I literally watched my take out order sit on the bar getting cold for 20 minutes. I asked numerous servers if they could please check to see if that was in fact my order, sitting on the bar getting cold, and could not get an answer until it was far too late. We came here based on a local's recommendation and enjoyed our meal greatly. My boyfriend got the Fresh Cut Pappardelle, which had a really good flavor. The pasta was cooked well. I got the Pizza Bella (shrimp, tomato, mozarella, arugula), and it was also delicious. I also love that you can see the chefs spinning the pizzas. Our server was also great. Fireworks is an explosion of bad service. I have never experienced a more dissatisfying meal in my entire life. First, our drinks took 15 minutes to come out, and they were subpar. Next, we did not receive any bread after asking for it (which you shouldn't have to ask for). My husband's strip steak came out extremely overcooked. The older blonde host was very unfriendly. I was recently in New Hampshire for work and stayed at the Fairfield Inn above this restaurant (not affiliated with the hotel). Given that my colleague and I had a mediocre meal at a restaurant on the square the night before, we didn't come in here with high hopes. It was a Tuesday night and the place was large, but not packed. We were seated quickly and our server was plenty attentive (till the end, more about that later). The menu is substantial and wide-ranging with something for anyone and everyone. There are decent wine selections, beer options, and a craft cocktail menu. I was pleasantly surprised and so was my work colleague (since she picked the mediocre restaurant from the night before). We both did cocktails even though she likes beer more and I like wine. The cocktails are great and potent! We decided to share the braised short rib over creamy polenta. The dish on the whole was good, but the braised short rib was not as tender as it could/should have been and the creamy polenta was actually lumpy and not as hot as I thought it could/should have been. Also, whatever sauce is used to drizzle over the dish... it was good, but not enough of it. When we finished it, I turned to my colleague and said, "even though there are some minor flaws with this dish, it was better than the entire meal we ate from the previous day. She quickly agreed. It took us a while to decide on entrees, but she picked the meatloaf and I took the hanger steak. We both thoroughly enjoyed our meals. The reason it took so long for us to decide is that we both saw things on the menu and the specials list that we wanted to try. For her... the mac & cheese. For me... the pasta carbonara special. During the course of the meal we joked about finding each other at the bar later in the evening having a second entree. Suffice to say, I'm sorry this place is not closer to Albany as I would be a regular customer. The sever seemed to disappear at the end, but we just found ourselves chatting and wishing we could order another cocktail. It didn't happen, but that is the restaurant's loss. I've never been one to put a local business down publicly, especially one I've loved for YEARS since it opened in Brattleboro...But I've never been so displeased and, frankly, furious with any dining experience. Last night, my coworker and I went to dinner at Fireworks Keene and had plans to meet another coworker afterwards. We ordered some awesome calamari and then ordered meals. I order a very basic meal of cheese ravioli and Italian sausage. The first time my food came out, the Italian sausage was cold and tasted old as if it was undercooked. Ok-it happens. Our server was nowhere to be found, so the runner took the meal back to the kitchen. The second time the meal came out, the cheese raviolis were cold. Obviously, I was getting frustrated at this point, since I just wanted my food done correctly and had been waiting. I told the manager Adam and he sent it back a second time. He promised it would be perfect in two minutes. (Spoiler alert: it was not) I asked for it to be boxed since we were meeting someone and my coworker had already finished and had her plate cleaned up. Our server, who at this point was very apologetic, offered a drink on the house since I was clear displeased and still hungry. When the manager finally came out again with my boxed meal, he also included the bill on the table. The bill was not correct and included the drink that was offered to me. So again, we had the waiter come over. The manager comes over afterwards and rudely asks, "Is there a problem with your bill?" I told him what was said and that the bill was incorrect and how I was frustrated that yet again I was having to wait when we had plans. Now, I understand stuff happens, rookie mistakes were happening all night, and there was a serious lack of communication between the staff... But I have very little patient with people being rude to me, especially in a dining environment where they pride themselves to holding a higher standard. The manager Adam's reaction to my frustrations were to rudely snap, "well why don't I do you a favor and comp your meal and you can never come back here again." Then walked away. I was shaking. I've never experienced such unprofessionalism, condensing, and distasteful behavior. For a local business that prides themselves as being leaders in the restaurant and hospitality field, I'm appalled. We left very shortly after being treated so poorly. I called the restaurant to ask for the manager's name, as I will be writing a letter to the owner, and the person answering didn't give it to me. He instead put the manager, Adam, on the phone. When he realized who I was ("were you the lady just in here?") and my intentions of writing a letter to the owner, he tried to change his story and said he NEVER said those words to me. My coworker and I were both astonished!! Needless to say, I will never be supporting this business again. I had been a repeat customer for years and had supported this business prior to them opening their Keene location. I hope that this manager gets some lessons in basic hospitality and is held accountable for such poor representation...the main representation of a local business, that is better than the carelessness and unprofessionalism shown last night. read more

We decided to eat at Fireworks after surveying the loop of restaurants along the rotary in downtown Keene. It was the special of watermelon feta salad that brought us in. As teachers, we are always conscious of pricing and the menu was reasonable. In our group of three we had two people who were gluten-intolerant and were excited to hear that there were multiple gluten free items on the menu, including calamari! You never find calamari gluten free. It was fresh, crispy and perfectly spiced. Each of our entrees were well-portioned, fresh and delicious. Our glasses were refilled frequently, but not at a rate that was distracting and the great selection of wine and craft beer (including a gluten free beer) was appreciated. Our waitress was very knowledgable on the menu and the outside seating offered great ambiance and people watching. Our dessert (Death by Chocolate) is something that is often seen at other restaurants, but was a step above and richly chocolate without being heavy or sloppy. It seems like Fireworks knows exactly what they are doing and they do it very well! read more
