Wow-so I've taken a break from Yelp but still use it to look things up from time to time. And did Yelp get it wrong with Fire Wood. 4.5 star average? Are you kidding me! We are in Murphy's on a wine buying trip with a few friends. We walked in and the gal at the counter was abrasive, unwelcoming and we felt as though we were intruding on her day. I ordered two pizzas, a burger, a salad and four glasses of wine. In a wine town, you expect local wines, not the wine I can get in Raley's from Reno. If you're looking for the 'local' experience, head across the street to Murphys Irish Pub. On to the food...if you have to add salt to a pizza then there's a problem. We ordered the pesto chicken pizza and the prosciutto arugula pizza. The crust in itself was decent, missing a bit of olive oil in the overall flavor but otherwise cooked well, and it held up to the toppings. But Fire Wood is the epitome of buying cheap ingredients. The red sauce is just tomato sauce. No seasonings, no simmering, no thing (I've meant for the grammatical error on this). The salad is lettuce and two slice of tomato....for $4.50!!!!! It's a pizza joint! Add some olives, mushrooms, cheese, whatever...but add something. Lasting impression: terrible service from the blonde at the counter, decent pizza crust but horrible pizza, salad=rabbit food, and wine that is not strategically sourced locally.
