Took my vehicle in for an inspection. Nothing special. Should be in and out like usual. This time, i got my vehicle back and immediately noticed problem with the door not closing. Was hitting on the lock and WOULD NOT CLOSE. Slam a few times and think maybe the door catch lock has gone bad. Then notice hand prints where someone had tried to oil it up because I'm guessing they thought the same. I figured out if I jimmy it up (the lock mechanism) ever so slightly, the door would close. Took it home and contemplated what to do like maybe something is just going wrong. Took it back to the store to explain the issue i was having, just wondering if they could help me out. I mean i brought it in and never had a problem closing the door and after I do. I was immediately dismissed with "you got an inspection, we didn't put the vehicle on the lift". Told his tech to clean up the oil stains he left from trying to oil the lock and get it to work. It's what I was having issues with also. Not locking, but the door wouldn't close on the lock. Just WHAM, several times. Like closing the front door with lock open. Took it home again, figure out the hing is scraping in a new way now. Fresh metal scrapes like the door was over extended. Noticed the panel lines on the door and front quarter panel weren't matching up properly too. Decided to try and put a 3 ton jack on the back side of the door and push it up where it will meet the lock again. After slowly pushing up, over and over I finally got it to lock correctly. had to waste a few hours of my time driving back and forth to be dismissed again like my vehicle came in there like that. I mean all they had to do was jack the door for me, offer a fix, something. Just sorry, is what it is FROM THE MANAGER. It took me awhile to make this but my door still won't close right and it bugs the crap out of me all because I took my vehicle in for an inspection. up until this point I would highly recommend them. I was actually trying to make them my main, but now I refuse to go back to this store. Act like I'm the crazy one. My door lock works fine. It's the door that was messed up in this store. I don't know how really, but I know they didn't want to help after the fact AT ALL. just not my problem. I would have even paid to get it right. Whatever, think the manager's name is Scott too. Won't let me upload the video of the FRESH SCRAPES on the inside hinges, can slightly see it in last picture though on top where it's suppose to catch. Emailed corporate all i get, "What would you like to do". If i have to explain it, it aint worth my time. I already explained the issue i've had, what would you like to do to make it right is my question Anyone who has had good luck so far, hope it stays that way. Also have a friend who use to work at there and talked to them about it, they say they wouldn't recommend any firestone. So I'll take my business across the street. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would. This tire shop is the definition of careless and unprofessional. I brought my truck in and somehow managed to watch multiple employees stand around doing absolutely nothing while my truck sat untouched. No customers, no rush, no excuse -- just people chatting and killing time instead of doing their jobs. No updates, no urgency, no accountability. I shouldn't have to wonder whether anyone plans to work on my truck while I'm literally right there, having things to do, far from home and watching them ignore it. This place clearly doesn't value customers' time or take their work seriously. Not to mention SKY HIGH quote pricing for absolutely no reason. Hit an obstacle in the road on Sunday morning. Had to have this tire replaced same day so I called a dozen or more shops. Due to any number of reasons no other shop could do the service that day. Even finding the size tire was difficult. This shop has the tire in stock, booked an immediate appointment, and I was walking out the door with the tire mounted in 15 minutes. The staff that helped me was friendly and gave me a couple of good ideas for other tire issues. Plus they checked and refilled the air in the car I drove to the shop. With all this service they were also $100 cheaper than any other quote I received. If I lived closer to this shop I'd definitely go back again. read more

My household has been doing business at this location off and on for many years now. We have a lot of Kia cars, a Toyota car and 2 Chevrolet SUVs. I've also taken in a Chrysler 200 for a relative...terrible car to maintenance. Our oldest vehicle they service is 21 years old with over 250,000 miles. Our worst vehicle is 14 years old with over 210,000 miles. We primarily go there for oil changes, but we've had other work done too (typically once a year per vehicle & between $100-$300 per job). We do have a Firestone card, so that helps at times with the unexpected repairs and there are extra discounts available. The current manager, Bobby, has the BEST attitude and approach to dealing with customer's concerns. He explains things in a way that I can understand and makes great recommendations if I need to take a vehicle to a different type of auto repair shop (transmission, muffler, engine shops, etc.). I'm not a mechanic, but I have enough sense to Google something beforehand and be aware of what I might be walking into. Not judging, but if you don't want to take the time to do that or buy your own filters, wiper blades & bulbs, then you get what you pay for, which is a convenience fee (labor charge) tacked onto each part. Note: You will be charged $100+ if you ask most shops to "figure out" what's going on with your vehicle. It's a diagnostic service. I've seen it happen many times because people don't ask the right questions or explain what specifically was going on with their vehicle before they got it there. It might sound as if I'm saying only take your vehicle to this Firestone because of Bobby, but really I'm saying having a decent store manager present makes any auto service less frustrating. I've dealt with bad ones before, so I know the difference and you can't sell me something I can screw on or attach myself. Hope this review helps somebody! read more

They caught me slippin' today. Being a woman in an auto repair shop is hard. Luckily for me, I was raised by a car dealer and a Marine. Both dads (mom was re-married) taught me from an early age about cars and that men take advantage of women (gasp) even in repair shops. I've always asked the right questions, I remain calm (even with my women hormones) and I've refused the upsells that aren't necessary. It's beyond disgusting and shameful that repair shops do this to anyone. Anyway, I went in for a front brake repair and state inspection. The previous visit I was told all my brake pads were worn and would need replacing. At 90,000 on a 2013 Ford Fusion, I was pretty certain the front brake pads were low plus there was a slight spongy feel when I pressed the brake petal. BUT I also knew that the rear brakes wear differently (thanks dads) than the front and I specifically asked the mechanic to check and make sure before doing the repairs to confirm the rear pads were actually low. He made the note (wrote it in the writeup) gave me a worst case scenario estimate of all brake repairs ($1,000) and I went home to await the dreaded phone call of yes we need you to pay more money. The call came from a different guy - more of a "hey I'm a mechanic and I'm going to make it my whole personality " type dude and I asked for specifics of how bad the pads were and if the rear rotors were worn. (I should also mention I never heard any brake squealing). He proceeded to say that "yes all your brake pads are down and the metal on metal is unsafe to drive on." He then stated that all four rotors and eight pads would come to $1600 in total repairs. I paused and pulled out my handy dandy estimate and said "um no sir, that number is incorrect - I have the estimate here and it shows all the work totaling $1000." He paused and swallowed a little too loud in the phone for my liking and said "oh yeah there's the mistake - I see it now I accidentally added in a second rear brake replacement. Your new total will be what you have on your sheet." (Notice he didn't repeat the real price back to me). My soft, too sensitive, womanly feelings became weak in this moment, feeling sorry for the loser mechanic who couldn't get one over on me a poor helpful lady and I said fine proceed with the initial estimate repairs. Once I got to the shop I waited briefly for the mechanic to finish up my state inspection and decided to ask for the parts. Make-mechanic-my-whole-personality bro stared at me for a few seconds. He pulled my account up and said "Um usually that is asked before we do the repairs but I can get them. Let me go check to make sure they didn't get rid of the parts yet." lol I should've known something wasn't right at that moment but I was too invested in the fashion magazine on the desk and deciding what color to get my nails done next (jk I use press-ons). I honestly just had too much faith that they wouldn't give parts to someone who asked unless they were doing honest work. I was then greeted by three mechanics, four rotors and six brake pads. *disclaimer: I know women suck at math, but there really were six.* They pulled two of the pads out of the box that were worn to shit and one mechanic - hence forth referenced as Truth Tech - said "These were the front pads". The other guy, Tech Two, spoke up and said "I thought those were the back ones." Truth Tech the replied, "Oh yeah that's right these are the back ones". I didn't know if it was the lack of pink in the room or the smell of gross men, but I started to get uneasy and asked for a box for the parts. Truth Tech politely offered to carry the parts to my car and placed them in my trunk with a "Have a good night ma'am". I knew I let myself and my dads down the minute I examined the contents of the box. Four of the six pads were wore down completely but two had plenty of pad left. Two of the rotors were bad with a few bruises on them but the other two looked as shiny as a quarter. Overall, I'm pretty disappointed in the service of the New Bern Firestone for like being so totally mean and taking advantage of simple-minded women. I'm even more disappointed in myself for allowing it to happen but at the end of the day I learned a lesson, got two new brake sets and now a state inspection for another year of taxes to pay. Yay! Can't wait to write about this in my diary! TTYL Seriously though, shame on you New Bern Firestone and I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else - hence the review. I'm really fearful of those (men and women) who don't know to ask questions and speak up. He was friendly, I told him the size tires that I needed, and he looked them up in his system. He did not have them in stock, so I guess he considered that the end of the conversation. This is about the end to an air conditioning nightmare. I will not go into all of the details. I had been a loyal customer of this location since relocating in 2015. Never had any issues until I took my car in because the air conditioner was not cooling. The short of this horror story after 4 trips back and forth to the store and 2 complaints the end finally came. I am thankful for Brad, from the district office for this store, listening to my woes and praises. Even though my confidence has been ruined he reassured me of something just as valuable. If a business values you as a customer and want to make whatever the complaint is right, it can be done. However, we as consumers, have a responsibility as well. Be respectful when situations occur. You definitely will get a more productive and respectful response when you are. Because of Brad, I might consider the location close to my home. I will never return to the New Bern avenue store for service again. read more

*Warning: Take with a grain of salt. I'm writing this post in anger. I'm sitting and writing this up in the Firestone New Bern Raleigh lobby right after the last incident.* I'm very frustrated with service here. I think there's a phrase about making the same mistake twice that goes something like: "first time- shame on you, second time- shame on me". This is my THIRD time so I should reallllllly hang my head in shame! :( The first time I spent $600 on brakes and they kept pushing our wait time up until we finally ended up sitting in their TV-blaring-lobby for 5 hours!! They DID give us a coupon for a $14.99 oil change (and some other coupon too - I don't remember what it was). Anyway, when we tried to use the oil change coupon the next time (when we spent over $700 on new tires), they found a way to -at least- double the oil change. (Using the excuse that my car needed extra oil and required pure synthetic oil (something I hadn't heard from anyone else in all the years I owned the car)). Today I made an appointment for an oil change and had a coupon. They found a way to change my $21.99 coupon to a $60+ charge. Grrrrr!! To try to turn around my mistake, I opted not to get my oil changed and decided to make others aware of the bait-and-switch tactics of Firestone on New Bern Ave in Raleigh. *Update - since I had an appointment and had taken the time to come over to their shop, I thought would at least take advantage of my free checkup (and I think alignment if it was out of whack) - after the amount of money I handed over to them this year. SOOOoooo, I waited another 35 minutes and looked up and guess what? My car wasn't even in the bay yet!! The guy was struggling with how to put my (stick) car in reverse!! I just said "Nevermind", and left. :( I arrived 10 minutes early (at 5:20) for my 5:30 oil change, and at 6:00 my car still hadn't moved. Another priceless example of how this shop has no concept of the value of their customers' time. -sigh- read more

A gang of criminals. They quoted me $380 for rear brake pads and rotors. That seemed high. They told me the serpentine belt was splitting and frayed. My wife reminded me that the last time I took a car there, they tried to convince me it needed almost $1,000 of false repairs. I took it across street and got the brakes fixed by an honest shop for $180. The honest shop inspected the belt, it is fine. Stay away from these crooks. I've been to the shop several times since I had already purchased tires with road hazard. Sometimes it's best to just write off the money and spend with another company. There is ALWAYS something that wasn't done correctly at previous visits. I had to replace a tire 45 days ago due to a nail in the tire. I was told it was unable to be repaired due to the placement of the nail. With road hazard I got out for $65. I'm back in today with a "razor" in the tire and I'm being told this tire is also not repairable so yet another new tire. This time the tire is $160 with road hazard. The placement of the razor is in the middle of the of the tread unlike the last nail which was closer to outer edge. So where and when is a tire repairable? There is no way to verify any aspect of the process here and there's usually multiple contradictions in the explanations. I'm already here so I'm going to pay for the tire, but this will be my last trip here. I'll be using a different vendor from here on out. read more

This review has nothing to do with tires, but it does concern their basic car services. I received a few coupons in the mail (one for an oil change and another for an inspection) and since I was too lazy to do the oil change myself, I felt I might as well take advantage of the deal. Pro tip: Buy your own oil filter and oil elsewhere to save on costs..most places will gladly use your own supply, and you will only pay for the labor. I was a little skeptical given the location (it's located in a rather drab shopping center in need of some serious TLC), but the service was surprising. I was greeted immediately and my car was in the shop and getting an oil change and an inspection within 5 minutes. Around 35 minutes later, my car was ready to go. If they keep sending me coupons, I'll keep using them, but I wouldn't pay full price for an oil change since I can save the money doing it myself. It's worth to check out if they have any promotions or specials going on. read more

I made an appointment with the Firestone on Dawson St., showed up on the day of my inspection, and the place was recently (within the last month) out of business. The phone numbers had been forwarded to this New Bern Ave location and when I made the appointment over the phone they had neglected to mention this. When I called to ask them about the closure, they were very apologetic and promised to get me in right away. But when I got to this location, they were extremely rude, and had my car in the normal waiting queue, not giving it the priority that had been promised to me over the phone. read more

My family spent over $8,000 over the past 10 years on multiple cars at Firestone, New Bern Avenue, Raleigh and 72% of the time expectations were met. The last and final visit involved the destruction of my automobile's engine which is now in heaven or worse. Robert the manager, not the main office in Tennessee would not refund my $2000 for the botched timing belt job and destruction of the car and Robert, the Service Manager flat out lied to the Better Business Bureau and my credit card company (the main Regional Administration is in Tennessee). The 2005 auto with 120K literally broke down on New Bern avenue as I was driving away from the servicing that took them 3 weeks to play with (can't call what they did "work")! Regarding the timeline: Vince tweaked some things quickly but the car broke down 4 more times over the next week, the last two times 200 miles away where we were force to junk it at the Chrysler dealership who wanted $1600 and no guarantee that the pistons/rods were salvageable. Since I did not want to pay for towing 200 miles and no non-Raleigh branch would touch. This was a perfectly running automobile till I let Vince deal with the timing belt adjustment. The other Firestones would not touch a timing belt job performed at another franchise, so do not be fooled by Firestone's ubiquity. They are not qualified to do much more than oil changes and taking free money. Oh, and get your timing belt adjusted every 100K, before it snaps, especially if it is an intermittent system (some US cars do this to save space). I would say this was the most stressful ordeal I have had other than my mother passing away, I am still driving my 1991 Chevy which I will never let them touch. Just find somewhere else to go, seriously. I scheduled an appointment for an oil change. I waited for three hours, then finally tracked someone down to ask about my car. It was already done, but no one bothered to tell me. This isn't the first time I've had a bad experience here either. It's generally hard to get someone to help you. The place is always super crowded, and there's not really enough seats for all of the people who are there waiting hours for their cars. Plus, the bathroom is weird and gross. read more

I *used* to be a fan... seriously, all of my car maintenance and repairs were done at this location, for my entire family. The change in management here has NOT been for the better; they're now apparently doing a lot of repair work for Enterprise, Auto Zone, and "a lot of others" (as I heard one of their employees brag) -- but it would be nice if they focused a little more on their regular customers. To be honest, I don't believe my dreadfully long wait was a result of these other businesses, their long/rotating list of clients simply made it difficult to get my appointment. I came in today for a scheduled appointment to get an oil change, plus wheel alignment, balance, and rotation; after an hour I asked how the work was coming along and was told "it's almost finished". I was held hostage for over 2 1/2 hours before the work was actually completed; thank goodness I didn't come in for any major repairs! I've never seen basic maintenance like this take so long to complete. Sorry, Firestone -- it's time to find someone else. read more

Terrible. Tried to charge me for "cracked" belts that didn't need to be replaced. Never would have known have known if I hadn't asked to see them. When he showed them to me, the mechanic told me he thought they were fine but..... then shrugged. I complained to the service manager who said he personally saw the cracks. when I asked him to show me, he circled the belt around and around and said he knew that he had seen them, but no cracks were found. Then he told me that since the labor was free he figured it should have been replaced since there were minute cracks (I looked up close and never saw them). Funny, since there was an extra labor charge on the estimate for replacing the "cracked" belts. I was also told there were two other belts that needed to be replaced, which were actually fine. The service manager then told me that the charges were labor to remove the good belts to replace the alternator belt that actually needed to be replaced. If that were the case, wouldn't the labor have been included in the alternator replacement labor charge? I'm still here. I've been here over 3 hours for what I was told would take an hour. I'm very unhappy. read more

I am new to the area and when my coolant light came on, I stopped at Firestone on New Bern. I thought, I might be able to get an oil change as well. When I entered the location the employee who worked there took his time to even acknowledge that I entered the store. After he went to bay, came back, got some paper for the printer , put the paper in but nothing was printed.... he finally asked me what I needed. Oil change was not possible so he said, he is fully booked, actually overbooked. So I asked if he could just top of my coolant since my light came on, he said no. Worst customer service ever. I asked why he did not tell me when I came in that he is fully booked??!!!! His reply was that he did not know what I needed????? What difference does that make?? According to him he is fully booked anyway. Waste of my time, awful customer service. I will never go back there and certainly not recommend this location. read more
