Not only was my car taken care of in record time, but he also made sure that I was satisfied, followed up with me the next day via phone call, and went over each charge on the invoice thoroughly. Had an appointment at 3pm, told me someone had walked in before but should only be an hour. At 4pm hadn't even touched my vehicle. When I went to check in they said they still had 30 mins on the other vehicle and would take another 2 hours to do the actual alignment. No point in making a reservation. The front right tire on my vehicle was wobbling and the car veered to the right if I took my hands off the steering wheel. I was told I needed a new Shock/Strut costing $500.00 and labor $278.00. I declined. Then I took the car next door to Discount Tire. Actually all I needed was a new tire. The cost of the tire and installation was $84.00. If I hadn't checked with Discount Tire I'd be out some big bucks. At Discount Tire, I was helped by Stacy. He was honest and professional. Don't go to Firestone. I got a call from the Firestone "claims specialist" today. He was no help. All he did was reiterate the claim of the tech that did the work, "Jiffy Lube cross-threaded the drain plug at my last oil change and that's where the leak came from." I told him I completely understand how it's possible for the damage to have been pre-existing and it didn't leak until now, but due to Firestone not following proper procedure and notifying me as soon as they found the drain plug damage, and instead performing a full oil change before telling me, that I have no other choice but to assume they did it--that they cross-threaded it when putting it back in after draining the oil and then tried to correct it. read more

PLEASE READ THE WHOLE REVIEW. I CAN UNDERSTAND PEOPLE'S FRUSTRATIONS, BUT IF YOU'RE THINKING ABOUT THIS PLACE, JUST GO TO THE END . THANKS I recently had a flat tire plugged, rebalanced and mounted here. It was a Sunday afternoon, and there's no tire shops open in Austin on Sunday afternoon. I did not expect that they would get to it. I wasn't sure my tire could be fixed, and I really didn't want to spend $225 on a new tire. I want to give it big shout out to Alton Foley, who took care of me, and honestly took care of everybody else in the two hours that I was there on a busy Sunday. He was friendly, he was helpful, he was considerate. This guy totally needs a raise. I can't speak for anything else that goes on in the store. I have seen all kinds of things happen at all kinds of car repair places in 50 years. I've seen a gun get pulled on a customer in the Bronx, I've seen misdiagnosis that I absolutely knew was wrong, and pulled a customer to the side to tell him to take his car and leave. I've seen muffler shops rip off old ladies who didn't know. So I don't know about the other reviews. I would say if you feel like you're getting a runaround, then leave and go somewhere else. Things are tough out there, it's hard to get same-day service. Independent mechanic shops are generally really busy and work a week to two weeks out in advance so the idea that you can drive in somewhere and get something done is not realistic. Turned out the guys that work here didn't tighten the oil filter and over time it became more loose. I had one heck of a day yesterday. I had to cancel my vacation to Cape Cod and Maine due to some Covid related issues with my traveling partners. I was sad all day and didn't leave the couch. When I finally left the couch and went to the dog park...a friend parked behind me and noticed my tire was flat. I just wanted to drive it home and deal with it later but he wasn't having it. He and another friend put on the donut. Long story long, I made an appt (for a Sunday) at Firestone. The one closest to my house was booked so I went to the one on Ben White. The guy I talked to Daniel was pleasant and respectful. I had made an appt online and then told me that it wasn't verified. He said they usually call and confirm appt. I'm confused...then what is the online appt scheduler for??? He said he could fit me in which was nice. My (online) appt was for 2. My car finally went back around 2:30. To my dismay there was a nail in it and not in the green zone (see photo) I had to get a whole new tire. I don't know if they upcharged me or not. They offered me the choice of two tires. I got the more expensive one. It was about 20 bucks more and seemed like a better tire but what do I know?!? The tire was about 196 bucks- which was not a Sunday Funday at all. I'm grateful for a car and the money to buy the tire but it was a pretty annoying way to spend Sunday. NEVER GO HERE. I had two appointments with this place and both times when I came in they said the exact same thing "two techs did not show up today, so we are running behind." They said it would be 2-3 hours to fix a tire. I asked when I could come in to simply get the nail in my tire fixed quickly and they told me to come in at 7 AM on Monday. When I arrived at 6:55, the guy there told me that they were already backed up, because "some techs had not shown up." this seems to be what they say every time. I don't think he realized it wasn't even 7 AM yet. They give you this lame excuse because the place is totally mismanaged. He told me it would be 3 to 3 1/2 hours to fix my tire. When I called after 4 1/2 hours because they had not called me, he was extremely rude. He finally told me that I had a nail in my sidewall and therefore the tire could not be fixed but they were looking for one for me from another store. This was only after I called them. They have not called me even though it had been 4.5 hours already. I had purchased my tire at firestone and had the warranty. So, after only one year, they were going to charge me $145 for a new tire. he said they would call me back in five minutes and let me know if they could get the tire. It took 25minutes and they told me that the tire was on the way and I should be there to pick it up at one. I had to walk to the store in 100° heat, and when I got there, they did not in fact get the tire. They were still looking for it. However, they had never called me. When I told them, I just walked here in the heat, one of the guys said "we are working in the heat." No apology for not calling me, even though I told them I was going to be walking over. The place is about 1.5 miles from my home. They said they would call me when they knew when they would have the new tire and they never did. This place is a joke and the worst tire shop I have ever been in in my entire life. I just took my tire to another place. They said that the nail was not in the sidewall. It was in the shoulder and because my tires are run flats it could be fixed. They took care of it in 10 minutes and I was out the door. This Firestone needs all new management and all new employees. It is such a sad, horrible establishment. There's just an air of depression permeating throughout the entire place. The employees are very rude and incompetent. They do not care at all about you. I have been a customer at this Firestone since 2005 and they have always been great. I moved away for a year and used a Firestone in Ft Worth for a year and now I'm back in Austin. I took may car in to have my tires checked and repaired as there is a nail in one. They left me a message to say that there was no wheel lock key in with the nuts in the bag. I told them that the only only people who had touched that bag were at Firestone and the last people to touch it were the Firestone in Ft Worth. My issue besides FW Firestone keeping my wheel lock key (and I just had to spend $25 at the Honda dealer getting a new one) is that Jason is one of the rudest lest helpful people I have ever encountered. It's such a contrast to Chico and the other guys who used to be there who were always amazing ad helpful and nice. I won't be back. read more

Jason and Daniel are the absolute best. I've lived next to this location for about a year and they've changed my oil, fixed my AC compressor, rotated my tires, and quite a few other things. Have used Firestone for service for the last three years and this current management team of Will, Ollie and Dave is fantastic. I can schedule an appt or typically get in pretty quickly. From oil changes to major repair, they have offered me reasonable pricing and good diagnosing -- nothing has had to be redone. I drop my car off for a few hours and they are quick to call as soon as it's done. Ollie went above and beyond for me last weekend and I really appreciate his commitment to customer service. read more

I asked Firestone to diagnose my air conditioning problem and for $50 they gave me a list of $1,100 worth of parts and this did not include labor and wouldn't guarantee me it would fix the problem. Took it to a dealer it was a $50 expansion valve and the air conditioner was fixed. The dealer told me if the person knew what they were doing they would have found the problem in 20 minutes just by using the recovery machine. Stay away from this place! Fraud. Just had an oil/filter change at the store on 1323 W. Ben White in Austin. When I got home I checked and saw that the oil filter had not been replaced. I returned to the shop and the mechanic was way too quick to admit that he had not changed the filter. He did not even check the vehicle to see if I was correct, but immediately brought out a new filter. He knew exactly what he had done. Then he did not remove the cover under the drivetrain to change the filter so oil got all over the inside of the cover and dripped onto the parking lot when he replaced the filter. Hint - at least wipe off the old filter so it will look like a new one next time. read more

I ran over some wood and they were so sweet to me and only charged me 10$ and also checked the life of my car! I am grateful and thankful for them however i do feel like they were only looking for more $$$.. i just got new tires maybe 6 months ago and they told me my front tires needed to be replaced and they had a "deal" however for 2 tires i could get an all year round deal at discount tires for 100-200$ but they were going to charge me 240-300. It's not much of a difference but when your a young college student who is paying her way through school.. it's a lot. I was in a bind: just started a new job where I don't have any time to take off and one of my tires had a leak, I needed a place to check it and patch it up-generally, in my experience, a procedure that you can walk in to most places for. I left work right at 5 because I know most places close fairly early and went first to one shop that was too busy to take me. I decided to try my luck at Firestone. Now, I don't expect businesses to work magic for my emergency-I know they have other customers with their own car problems, but I do expect to be treated like an adult-with respect and even a modicum of friendliness/understanding. I was disappointed in the condescending way the rep told me I wouldn't be able to be seen because there were 6 cars ahead of me (not obvious when there was only 1 person in the waiting room and 1 person also being helped), and I should make an appointment. When I asked if he new of another place that might be able to take me because of my work situation, I felt like I was brushed off and told he didn't know. I was also working under the impression that they closed at 6-but I'm seeing on Yelp they close at 7-I was there at 5:20 :( In the end, a little understanding and empathy go a long way even if they can't help in that moment-car troubles are stressful and often expensive. So, friendly yelpers, learn from me-call ahead when possible and go to Tire Men instead-they saved my day! read more

He then went on to refuse to answer a question this customer had about whether it was ok to drive his car for one more day even if he had to get an oil change, and J snapped at him. J is terrible, I walked out when it was my turn because no one, particularly a customer, needs to be subjected to that. Thank goodness this Firestone was open on Labor Day. My daughter had put off doing her yearly inspection and they were open. We got it done, then Ben Banks noticed there was a bubble in one of her tires. We got the 2 front tires replaced. We got so much info from Ben Banks, and he was the kindest, most professional, personable man. Took the time to explain so much, what else would be needed up the road, etc., and in layman's terms. He seriously took care of my daughter's car and took care of us!! Knowing your child is as safe as can be is worth everything. These people kept my car for five days straight and each day I went up there asking if the car was done or if there were any updates and the answer was always no or "Itll be done tomorrow". I was worried considering the reviews here, but it was close to work and the entertainment coupon book has 20% coupons so I took a chance. I got quite a bit of work done - new water pump, coolant flush, and a new fuel filter. The work was done right, my only complaint is that they took several hours longer to finish the job. Instead of it being done at 3PM they finished at 7:15. I understand that things happen so, although aggravating at the time, I got over it. Plus they cut me a break on the bill ($50) for the extra time. The staff was courteous and explained everything they were doing along the way. I'm sure I'll return in the future. read more
