AVOID ALL FIRESTONE LOCATIONS I called into a location around Anderson Mill area (forgot exactly where) and they gave me a good quote for replacing my front brake pads. The rep told me it would take an hour tops if I brought it in first thing in the morning so I did and decided to wait on it. After THREE AND A HALF HOURS I was able to get my car back but there was no explanation as to why it took so long. Six weeks later my brakes start to make the same noise as they were before they were replaced so I took it to the Firestone location off William Cannon hoping they would check it out for free since it should have been fixed last time I took it to them. They did look at it for free but claimed that they couldn't find any problems so they just cleaned the brakes again. In addition to that one of the mechanics was nice enough to wipe his greasy hands on the interior of my car and leave a few boot prints in the back seat... Not sure how that happens when you're supposed to be looking at the brakes. Thanks so much guys read more

Dropped my car off at 1:30 pm for an inspection and was told I would receive a call when the car was ready. I never received a phone call so I went to get the car at 6:45 and Firestone decided to close early with my car locked up. As a petite female it's never good to be stranded at night without a vehicle. The next day they never called and when I called them I was told they had "attempted" to call me. I had no missed calls and no voicemail so that was a lie to cover their ass. Don't ever go here!!! read more

45 min wait... not bad, but not great. Did a good job. Buzz kill when Chris said they wouldn't honor the ValPak $10 off electronic coupon. Any company so stuck in the stone ages that they won't honor electronic coupons will earn no more of my business. AND, in their defense... if they won't honor the coupon because it is unofficial then they need to fight against Valpak to have their name removed from the electronic offers. On and one final note, my vehicle had old, but still functioning struts. After being hoisted on the lift? None. They gave up the ghost from being allowed to sag (like I said they were old). NOW? I've gotta come up with $600 to repair them. Thanks Firestone. I should have just went to a drive up oil change shop. It would have been cheaper and my old, worn out struts would still be working. ***UPDATE*** Ok, got a call from Dale the store manager who explained that Firestone is indeed evolving in the social media / electronic world and he apologized for the situation. I've taken my car here three times since I moved back to Austin in May and have had great service each time. I got my inspection done ($30,) a tire patch ($20) and today, an oil change ($25 with the website coupon!) Michael has been there all three times to assist me and he couldn't be nicer, even when I can't tell him what kind of oil I want put in my car... :| He also mentioned a survey at the bottom that, upon completion, gets you $10 off your next $25 purchase. Yay! This was a five-star review, but I stopped by earlier this week at 6:30pm (they're open until 7) to get my "low tire pressure" light checked out and nobody was in the office. Eh, this place can do better. They try and get you in-and-out as fast as they can without really examining your vehicle for whatever you brought it in for. My boyfriend took his Cobalt there to get some front-end alignment fixed and the next day, it was back just like it was. We then had to bring it back again where they wanted to charge us. We ended up not having to pay and they finally fixed the issue but that bares the question: why did we have to bring it back a SECOND time? Not worth it. Look for a local mechanic instead. May be okay for an oil change or something, but I'd still go to Lamb's for that. read more

I called in advance to make an appointment for a 15k mile maintenance on my Acura (essentially a synthetic oil change and tire rotation and a visual inspection). Sterling quoted me $269, several other shops in town were in the $100-150 range, while Firestone quoted me $92. So I took a chance and made an appointment. I walked in the door on time for my appointment at 4:00pm and realized I was in trouble. The place was busy, and I had to wait in line 5 minutes or so to even get checked in. The man at the counter apologized for the wait, got me signed in and then mentioned they were running a $10 off special on synthetic oils so the grand total was only $82. By 4:42 they were calling my name and already done. I couldn't believe it. I've had oil changes at nearly empty shops take more time, and there's no way you can get out of the Sterling Acura waiting room in under 90 minutes, no matter what you're there for. Service was fast, cheaper than any place in town I called, and everyone was polite and friendly. Sure, the waiting room sucks but I'd rather save $100 and sit in uncomfortable chairs for a short period of time than pay for comfort. read more

I can't say enough good about these guys. I came in one afternoon in the middle of a cold and wet day, because my tire pressure light came on. I wasn't expecting much but I couldn't afford to take any chances. Their staff came out to greet me which was a bit of a surprise, and I pulled in to the place where they could check my tire pressure. They did all of this within minutes. Weeks later, when I was sure I was losing air, I brought the car in and they repaired the tire - when they could have easily sold me a new one! They were so forthright and honest that I knew I could count on them to change all four of my tires the following month. They completed the job within a couple of hours, checked my fluids and were completely available to answer questions. I have been into this place for the past five years and have NEVER had a negative experience. So many people working there, and ALL of them have the same commitment to customer experience. Two weeks ago, I had reason to believe my battery in my Mercedes was low. It's not easy to find the battery in these cars - but the team did everything they could to find it, right down to googling it on an iPhone. Consider this, it would have been easy to send me on my way, to go to a Mercedes dealer and even then I would have understood. Yet they took the time, found the battery, determined that it was just fine, and sent me on my way. It is an excellent example of how a services oriented company should be. I have probably recommended a couple dozen customers to this Firestone and will continue as long as they remain committed to the customer. Building customer relationships in an environment like this isn't easy. From the top-down, these guys have it all. read more

Terrible! I bought tires here, and six months later one of them literally fell apart. The entire inner sidewall separated from the tread at six thousand miles. Once I started to put my spare tire on, I found out that they had cross threaded a lug nut, and at 10 pm on a Saturday evening I had to shear the lug to take the tire off. Since they were the last people to touch the lug nuts, I took it in Sunday morning. And they denied it was their fault, and charged me 150$ to fix it. As I had a ninety mile drive Monday morning, I had no choice. I also had to tie a splash guard back up after a previous alignment on an older vehicle. This place has no attention to detail at all. And firestone products are junk, as we all know from the Ford exploder debacle. The only reason I even came here was because they're open on Sundays. read more

I was told by the Infiniti dealership that my rear brake pads needed replacement, along with a resurfacing of the rotors and brake fluid flush. Given that the dealership charges over $400 for this service, I decided to take my car elsewhere. My usual shop was overbooked, so I tried Firestone on a whim. What a pleasant surprise! Communication was great throughout, and Firestone found that my brakes actually did not need work and had "a few thousand miles" left before they would need replacement. I'm so grateful to Firestone for being honest, even though it meant they only made $10 off of me, rather than several hundred dollars. I'll be a customer for life! read more

Went in for a routine oil change and the mechanic forgot to replace my oil cap. About 2,000 miles later my truck blew a white cloud of smoke upon start up. That's when I popped the hood and noticed it wasn't there. Luckily for me the mechanic has set it on the brace above the radiator pressing it between the hood. After draining the oil I realized I was missing 3 quarts... Well below dipstick reading levels. Realizing that it had been going through my intake I pulled the air box open to find a oil soaked filter with about 1/2 cup of oil that made it through the filter and sitting in the bottom of the box. Long story short. I had to replace the air filter and the PCV valves and clean everything from the airbox to the throttle body. I'm lucky I didn't notice it any later. That could have cost me my motor because of a careless mistake. read more

These guys really helped me out. While out driving late Saturday evening, the liner inside the front passenger wheel well became unsecured and was rubbing against the tire. It was extremely noisy and the tire had worn through the liner leaving a big hole. Anyway, the next day, I had some place I needed to be. I had to find help on a Sunday. FIRESTONE TO THE RESCUE!!! The counter person personally got under my car and zip tied the liner back into place and I was on my way. No charge. The whole ordeal took maybe 15 minuets. That's good customer service and I'll be taking my car to them now. read more

I went to Store #285927 (3609 W William Cannon Dr, Austin, Texas 78749) in February to have front rotors and brake pads replaced. The store installed the wrong brake pads (I asked for a specific brand and model they said they could get), damaged one of my wheels, damaged a hub cap cover, and then the General Manager (Dale Long) failed to call back after several messages. I finally caught Mr. Long at the store where he begrudgingly gave me a refund on labor without any mention that the work would not be warrantied. I went into the store today (6/14/2018) and Ben (Tire Sales Manager) assisted me to setup an appointment to look at my brakes since they squeal and are spongy even though I had a brake fluid exchange/service when the brakes were replaced. About 30 minutes later Ben called me to tell me that since the labor was refunded they would not warranty or look at my vehicle. The unprofessional service, attitude, and rudeness were and are unacceptable. read more

They were the only place open on a Sunday so there was a line before they even opened. This means you'll need to be prepared to leave your car there if you go on a Sunday- they are very busy. They fixed the tire leak I had-no problems since. It was quick and easy. read more

I have been going to this Firestone for a few years now and I have had very mixed experiences with them. Unfortunately this is the only Firestone close to my home. They are sometimes very nice and accommodating and sometimes really bad and inadequate. I have the lifetime wheel alignment package with them so I wanted to get it checked since I have a slightly older car and like to get it checked every few months. I tried calling them all morning on Friday morning but gave them the benefit of doubt when they didn't pick up a few times. But when they did pick up after a long series of rings, the guy I talked to was like " Yes we are free right now and we can get this done in the next 2 hours". So I drop everything at work and rush to get this done. I get there in 12 min and when I walk up to the desk and tell them about the phone conversation, the guy at the desk goes "well I don't know who you talked to but looking at the number of cars we have right now it will take us at least 4-5 hours". He didn't apologize or say anything else. To summarize, I would just suggest that if you make a last min appointment, confirm that twice before you dash over there. Don't trust the first guy you talk to or make an online appt. I know it sounds like a small issue, but it is frustrating nevertheless when they do not respect you or your time. read more

Update: I happened to complete Firestone's phone survey regarding my experience and the store manager called within 90 minutes of hearing of my bad experience (although, technically, I did call the store to complain about an hour before that with no results). Anyway, the store manager was a really good guy. He defended his store, but also heard my concerns and refunded the diagnostic fee without my asking. Hopefully I won't have any more car problems, but if I do, I'll give 'em another chance. My story (posted prior to the above, with a 1-star rating at the time): Beware: They will lie and tell you you need work that you do not need. I went in for a check engine light. As it turned out, I needed a simple coolant temp sensor - a $25 part that's easy to replace. However, Chico totally misled me when he called to explain the diagnosis. He tried to make out like I needed $900 in repairs - everything from spark plugs to tires, filters to hoses - almost none of which would have fixed the check engine light. I'm used to mechanics telling me I should fix everything and the kitchen sink, but this guy went way too far. He didn't even clarify that all I needed was a temp sensor - I thought he said I needed a thermostat to fix the check engine light. $60 worth of parts and a couple hours later I discover this omission, go back to the parts store, buy the right part, etc. So Chico, et al didn't even perform the $85 diagnostic job they were charged with, which was to help me solve my check engine light problem. So even though I didn't let them do the work they were recommending, they still wasted my money by giving me bad information in an attempt to upsell me. I was a little nervous with that check engine light on and they totally tried to turn that into a highway robbery. Do they get paid on commission or something? I've been going to another location for years - the one at Southpark Meadows - and they were always up front with me. I recently moved, so that location is not the closest anymore, but I guess I'll have to keep going to it. The Southpark Meadows location is great, by the way. I'm even a Firestone credit card holder and Gold Member. Btw, I will keep using the lying location for oil changes, as I think they actually lose money on every one (I get a discount with the credit card), so that will be some small satisfaction. read more

Stay away from this store... I always go to firestone for car maintenance, and really have never seen a store like this. Made an appointment for a four tire change, and then when I got there added a 5th tire for my spare to be changed, and I was told that it would take an additional 2-3 hours? My tire pressure sensor was on in my car when I got into it because they didnt put enough air. I had my spare on, and when they took it off of my car they put the whole tire in the back of my car instead of the bottom of my car where its supposed to be? And then while I was there waiting I heard the front clerk explain to at least two other customers that came back for fixes on the work previously done, how they messed up the job and were sorry. I paid almost $600 for tires and have to figure out how to put my own spare back on my car where it goes. Like I said... Stay away from this place if you want your car fixed right the 1st time. All of the associates that worked there were never rude and always polite... just do bad work. read more

Who the hell thinks an oil change is worth waiting two days for? I realize the weekends are busy but how can you look at me with a straight face and tell me as I bring my car in Saturday morning that I will have to leave it with you until Sunday afternoon for a freaking 15 minute oil change that I ended up doing myself. Oh and you only have one man who knows how to do a state inspection? And he doesn't stroll into work until 10? I had no idea you only employed one man trained in the mastery of checking the blinkers and the windshield wipers and the fluid levels. I just assumed that anyone who works around cars knows how to use a turn signal and stand behind the car to make sure the little red lights come on when the brakes are working. I've tried to get work done by you 3 times and every single time I've gotten such an absurd answer I have to hold in my laughter until I get back to my car to let it all out. EDIT. I finally got some work done by this guys and my God I wish I hadn't. I asked my boyfriend to get my car an oil change if he was going to borrow it and he decided to drop it off with these guys. Now please note, I had owned the car for a year at that point and never had any problems with it except for a window that would occasionally get stuck. No engine trouble of any kind. While my boyfriend is in the waiting area he notices that several mechanics are standing around staring under the hood of my car looking entirely perplexed. He goes out to see what the problem is. It turns out during their so-called "courtesy inspection" where they touch all manner of things that don't need to be messed with, they had gotten snagged on a wire and ripped it out of place and were then standing around trying to think up a lie to tell my boyfriend about how the car came in that way. The problem was that the wire they had destroyed was connected to my air flow intake and without it, the car WILL NOT GO. They insist that the car was like this before they touched it. But tell me this: how could one drive a car to the Firestone if it WILL NOT GO? So boyfriend fidgets with the wire enough to drive the car off, not realizing at that time how extensive the damage is. He returns the car to me, I drive it to the grocery store, get ready to start it back up when I'm ready to leave. Nothing. It starts up, I put it in drive, it dies. I repeat this process several times before calling my regular mechanic to come tow it away. The final damage to my bank account? $500. That's right, $500 worth of damage from a courtesy check that I didn't even want. We contacted the manager at Firestone who was rude and adamant that the car had come in that way. Well that would have been plausible except with the damage, the car was not capable of driving anywhere much less to Firestone. After all this nonsense is over with, I noticed yesterday that they didn't even give me a sticker stating when I'm due for my next oil change. 500 bucks and not even a sticker. read more

I had a leak in a tire and had to have the valve replaced. I was told they COULD NOT put the Tire pressure monitoring system back on as it was cracked (but the sensor was working). So they either cracked it or the crack was irrelevant to the leak. The sensor still worked but they refused to reinstall it for reliability issues. They quoted me 90 dollars for the 20 dollar part and they even told me they'll install it if I get the part. Apparently that was just to to shut me up and get me out the door. Now they says it's their policy not to install customer purchase parts. The manager even had the nerve to tell me "well we have sensors here." Avoid this place at all costs. read more

The tall young man who was efficiently trying to check customers in held his cool when a customer thought that she should be 1st in line even though they were other vehicles ahead of her. I also work in retail and it is hard for customers to understand that 1st in 1st out when it comes to repairs. After almost 2 years, I decided to give these guys another chance, and I had a much better customer service experience this time around. I worked with Scott primarily, mostly over the phone. I had a little trouble changing a flat tire on my Jeep - the last guys to put my tires on tightened them way too tight, and two of the lug nuts snapped off in the process. Not feeling comfortable driving it, I called ahead and had it towed, which can be a little scary. Usually I like to look the guy in the eye before handing over the keys to my ride, if you know what I mean. But Scott was great, made me feel comfortable right away. He was on it. He called with questions and regular updates, stayed in touch the whole time. They had other tires in stock, but had to order the one I wanted, which came in two days ahead of schedule. Went into firestone on 9/12 because my car was getting a little hot sitting in traffic. Was informed they have a 27$ test that will tell me if my car has any leaks, not working fans etc.. got a call later saying i have 2 leaks one with thermostat and one with my water pump. Total cost would be 572$ total. Thought it was high but i have had work done before and everything prior had been good work i even have all my tires from them. Picked up car drove home (3 minutes away) everything seemed fine. While driving on mopac to work on 9/13 i begin to hear slapping noise under my hood. I immediately take the exit and pull over while doing so in process my car reads "engine overheated" "reduced engine power" my check engine light comes on and my steering wheel becomes very stiff. Once pulled over I pop my hood open and see my belt shredded (picture added under my name) . I also notice my coolant tank reservoir is steaming and bubbling (video added under my name). Keep in mind i brought my car in because it was getting a little hot in traffic (NOT OVERHEATING) and now im having to deal with all this. I call firestone let them know i just had work done and to their credit they seem very concerned, send me a tow truck and because it was about closing time inform me they will look at it tomorrow. I show up that next morning to see what was going on and am told that what happened was my belt tensioner broke and the fix would be 367$. They tell me that with what they fixed there is no way it could have been on them and that the water pump they had changed is near the tensioner they didnt work on that part. The manager was never rude and even after expressing my frustration with the situation he told me that he could get me 50$ off because of the "bad timing" this situation was and reassured me it was a coincidence and nothing they did or touched. I needed my car for work that day and paid the 317$ and drove away that day. I was later informed by another mechanic that they do indeed have to loosen the Belt tensioner to replace the water pump so in fact it was touched and I now find it VERY HARD to believe that a part that was perfectly fine going in happened to break on its own one day after being touched by firestone. I have now spent 570$ because my car was running a little hot in traffic and then paid 317$ for a problem that was their fault. I do understand people make mistakes and was expecting them to say it was their fault and would take care of it due to them being my primary mechanics. Made an appointment to have 1 tire replaced... scheduled it for 9am. My wife arrived at 8:48am. Van went up on lift almost immediately. 30 minutes later she was asked for repairs/service to other parts of the vehicle not related to tire replacement. She politely said "no thank you." Car was ready at 10:56am... that is 2 hours!!! And it went up on the lift right away! Maybe next time I should offer to pay an extra couple hundred dollars for service I did not ask for... maybe it would have been faster! To be fair... they are busy, denying walk-ins service today... but I had an appointment, and if they are so busy, why go over my entire car when I came in for a single tire? I asked if they could plug it he told me no, that I would have to buy a new tire. I then asked if they could atleast air it up so I could get back down the street to work atleast to place donut on. One guy hesitated and said ya, and the guy he told to get ready started huffing and puffing looking all sad and mumbling under his breath. I used to take my car to Firestone to get my oil changed and my state inspection, but a few issues have made me decide no more. For one thing, I totally agree that their "courtesy" check is an excuse to get you to spend more money. They checked my brakes and told me I would need new pads very soon, but when I took it to the dealer to have a serious issue dealt with I asked them to check and they told me it was perfectly fine. They have also tried to get me to pay for a service to find an oil leak which the dealer found without a problem or cost to me. Aside from that, I had a bad oil change when they did not put everything back in properly and I ended up with oil splattering out and causing serious concern when it burned off. Before I got the car, my dad took it in to have the timing belt fixed only to have it break again due to improper installation. I have also ended up spending twice as much time waiting for my car to be done then I was told it would take. The guys there have always been friendly to me and what I need to get done gets done, but I feel like trying to get you to spend more money, botching what should be fairly simple repairs, and long wait times outweighs these good points. I can find a friendly place that won't try to get me to buy more things and do their job properly all the time in a reasonable amount of time. read more

This place is crap. I went there yesterday at noon just for a diagnostic testing of my radiator because my car is smoking (yeah, pretty important). They told me it would be done by 5pm. I call at 4 and ask how it's going, they casually say "oh yeah we won't even be able to look at it until tomorrow" and I need my car, I have no other way of transportation. So I say I'll come pick it up and bring it back today at 8 am. I do, and say I'll pick it up at 5. I call at noon and ask about the progress, they say they just got it in and it'll be around 45 minutes and they will call me in 45 minutes. I call again at 2 because they didn't call me, and again they say they just got it in and it'll be done in around 45 minutes. Bullshit. They are not dependable and are extremely irresponsible. read more

So, I take my coupon for a free oil change, make an appointment for my truck AND make an appointment for my wife's car to have her tires rotated and aligned. They tell me 1 hour for both. I tell them they just told me this same thing and blah, blah, blah. They say no problem, we got this. We leave the car and use the truck to run errands and will switch out after the rotation and alignment. We came back 1 hour and 39 minutes later and my wife goes, "the car's in the exact same spot. Could you imagine if they didn't even get to it yet." And that is exactly what happened. Not only was it not ready, they never even got to it. Ya know what he started to say? "I'm sorry, your next oil change is on us" True story. No exaggeration. At all. Just the personification of frustrating. read more

I am not happy with their "complete auto service". I recently moved to south Austin, and tried Firestone because it's within walking distance of my house. The people were polite and the atmosphere was pleasant, but the repair work was questionable. First I drove in because my check engine light came on, and my 14-year-old Honda Civic was running rough in idle mode. They told me it needed a tune-up and a new coolant sensor. I got the work done, along with an oil change. Then the next day, my radiator sprung a leak and I had it towed back in. They said this had no relation to the work they just did (on the coolant sensor?), and gave me a small discount on the coolant flush. Then 10 days later, my radiator hose exploded. I told them I thought they should have replaced the worn hoses when they replaced the radiator. I had it towed back again, and they replaced the hoses for $70, which they claimed was the cost of the hoses with no charge for labor. I decided it was time to buy a new car. I had the Honda dealer check my old car. They noticed the transmission fluid dipstick was missing. I don't know who forgot to put it back in, but I suspect Firestone. I realize I can expect an old car to have multiple problems, but I don't think the Firestone mechanics are up to the job. Maybe, as some other reviewers have suggested, they're just in too much of a hurry. For the first two repair trips, I paid $1200 for service which included "diagnostic service", "diagnostic testing", and "quality assurance inspection". So why didn't they at least catch the radiator hose problem before it failed catastrophically? Beware, scam artist!! Went into this location to get inspected. That I'm sure was my first mistake, taking it somewhere that sells services. I wait almost an hour and finally one of the guys call me up. Apparently my pressure powersteering hose and PS pump I leaking and I won't be passing inspection today. BUT WAIT! They say yet can fix me up for $580. So I pay for my failed inspection and leave pissed as hell. Well I'm no idiot and i don't take any automotive places word on it, so I took it to my buddies shop... They don't do inspections. But they take a look at it come to fun out all I need is a hose, so I'm already looking at almost half the price. So the next thing is to find my parts for the right price, I go into autozone to order my hose, I find it at the Honda dealership for $130, firestone quoted me $199, then for shits and giggles I ask th autozone employee to look up the pump they had lied to me about. Found the same part for $99, guess why they told me it cost??....$200!!!! I've heard of mark-up but these guys are scum. Do not ever take tour car here read more
