I've been coming to discount tire for years to get the free air checks. They're pretty quick and always nice about it. Recently my car needed a check and the air level was so low they told me I needed a new tire. I went for it since I was nervous about continuing to drive on the tire with it being that low and they said there system couldn't even add some air. The tire exchange took about 2 hours, we waited inside. The air pressure line had been VERY long that day (longest I've ever seen it) so we'd also had to wait an hour prior to the tire change - they normally close at 6, but that's when they "close the door," they'll finish with your car even if it's after hours. We drove away close to 8pm. Overall, I've had pretty good experiences here, really appreciate the air checks over the years. read more

Had to come get new tires because I walked out of my house one morning to go to work and my tire was a bit flat. When I got to work I easily made an appointment online for later that morning. When I arrived of course they were extremely busy. I did have to wait a bit, but when I was finally seen they quickly inspected my tires and gave me their recommendation. A whole set of tires. I know I was being upsold because they told me the tread on all my tires were good since I don't drive much. But being that they were old, I should change them all. At first I was just going to do the flat one because one of the other tires was replaced a few years ago and the other two were fine but I remembered I'd been run off the road a few months ago; and if the age of the tires made them vulnerable I should just go on a do it. Also, I didn't want a 4 or 5 year difference between all the tires. They also recommended my wipers be replaced. I said I'd do them myself but the guy was again being a seller so I just let them do it. Apparently, they don't charge for labor on the wiper blades. Even with an appointment it still took about an hour to an hour and a half. Maybe it should have taken a bit more time because about a week later, I was driving home in the rain when my wiper blade broke. I immediately went back to the shop. I did have to wait about 30 minutes before someone was able to help me. After looking it over the guy said he needed to replace the clip. He did then just popped it back on. Hoping that's all that was needed. This place is great, just be prepared to wait a bit. read more

This is the best Discount Tire ( the one of Slaughter and Manchaca) in the city. I can't say enough good things about the employees who go out of the their way to help me with my car. Since I commute daily on I35 , it has been imperative that my tires don't blow out in the middle for the highway, and the several times I have had nails imbedded in the few of them , Discount Tire has ALWAYS come through. I particularly want to mention Forrest who has gone above and beyond to take care of me. Discount Tire is successful because of people like Forrest. I came here on Monday because I unfortunately had my back right tire blow out when driving Monday morning. I called Discount Tire and spoke to Jesús, who was very helpful in pulling up my account and telling me they could change my tire pretty quickly after the car arrived. Tanner also went the extra mile in driving my car up front for me too when the repair work was done. Last, credit to the discount tire team for realizing I actually purchased a tire warranty from them and using the warranty to help minimize what I had to pay for repairs this time around. Great service, even when they're slammed the service reps remain courteous and helpful. This particular location is the best in my opinion bc the parking area and the shop itself are bigger than other locations! Plus if they cant get to your vehicle is a certain allotted time; you can make an appointment for a later time/date. Highly recommend purchasing the Replacement Certificates on each tire especially if you put a lot of miles on your vehicle and dont remember to do the recommended amount of tire maintenance (rotation/balance). The certs will replace your tire for free if the damage meets the qualifications. read more

Was taken care of right away by Stephen (so awesome and helpful, thank you) who caught that my back tire had also been damaged. Nothing like getting that low tire pressure notification after dropping your kiddo off for camp and trying to return to work. Discount tire to the rescue. Turns out I had a nail in my tire and the wait time was roughly a couple of hours. However, they under promised and over delivered, and it was only an hour for the repair. Meanwhile, customer service was super friendly with one of the Employees going as far as to come out and ask if we wanted bottled water and passing it out to us. The customer service at this location is exemplary! I had to bring my infant with me due to a surprise flat tire and these guys took care of us. they explained everything and potential costs in a way that isn't pushy or outside of my understanding. Needed a new set of tires so called Discount Tire and easily scheduled an appointment. This location is pretty large and there was only a short line to check in. The sales person already had my specific tires ready from speaking to home the day before. He fully explained everything to me about warranties, services, and the itemized cost. He was very polite. The wait was a little over an hour where my vehicle was inserted into queue. I was give my number and got a text message with a link to see my status. It was basically useless when waiting in the lobby but if away from the shop then tells you the vehicle is ready to pickup. However I did hear which number they were processing so had an idea where I was in the queue. Once my vehicle was in the garage things went very fast. The waiting area was clean but had a few chairs. Bring something to drink else go next door to the gas station. You can see into the garage to watch the guys do their thing. Some people left via ride share or nearby restaurants. I just waited reading and listening to people talk about their tire issues for many different reasons. Next thing my name was called and vehicle ready. Very disappointed with service on Wednesday Morning. Came in for a patch and to have another tire checked for 3rd time for low tire pressure light. Brayden stated that all my tires needed to be replaced, even though all tires had warranty. When I stated not today, Brayden later approached stating that the tire with the low tire pressure had an issue that wasnt fix able. I explained how I had brought car in for same issue numerous times before when tires "weren't bad" and they could never figure out issue, but now all of a sudden they could and now I would have to buy a tire or have spare put on. Where's the center cap on my right front tire? The tire person put 32 lbs of air instead of 35 lbs since winter is coming..I'll lose 4 lbs in each tire. Friendly ! From beginning to end. I called around to shop out a replacement tire for my Prius. I've never had a flat, but my tire blew out yesterday on the way to San Antonio. It's actually a super stressful event lol... but I would recommend discount tire after my experience, and I will definitely go back. I got a local quote for $170-something to replace one regular tire, and I about croaked. Discount tire had rockstar reviews and I've ordered online from them, so I gave them a call. The gentleman who answered the phone was friendly, quick, honest .. told me there were 8 people waiting but could get in and out within an hour for about $75. Drove on over, checked in up front and waited maybe 10 mins before they took me inside. Andres explained everything clearly. All costs, charges, time expectations. Everyone was masked 100% of the time I was there. WiFi was free so I could answer some emails. I was done within about 30 mins! The young man brought my key back and mentioned my TPMS sensor was dead, costs about $60 to replace, but everyone else was sound. I knew it was bad but never got around to fixing it - will likely return to DT for that repair. Nobody tried to upsell me or anything lol. Very straightforward. We've been buying tires at various Discount locations for years, including this one. Perks include free flat fixes, drive through air and tire checks, decent tire prices, and a warranty replacement option, which I'm using today because the metal shard that found its way into my tread made it irreparable. They're always busy here but seem to work as efficiently as possible. If you're interested in buying a full set of tires, watch for one of their sales. I try to always buy four at a time unless there's a mishap and the others still have plenty of tread left. Covid protocol has folks waiting outside for someone to come check them in, but they're allowing customers to wait inside masked. They also have some seating outside. read more

Twelve years later in the middle of a pandemic in mid-August, I had to get a flat fixed at the nearest location. Fearing the worst, and hoping for the best, I gave this location another try. Customer service was cordial and polite, although their intake process was fairly haphazard. Even though I'd set an appointment online, I wound up having to explain my situation to no less than twice. Once, before I was directed to a parking space to wait, and again to the a different person who came out to take my order. Strange, I thought I'd already put everything in online. Service was efficient, although any wait in your car during the summer in Austin is not something you want to prolong. They did get me out in about 30-ish minutes, which was more than reasonable. I did have a couple of nits to pick. For starters, the second person I worked with that came out to my parked car got way too close for comfort. He was wearing a gaiter, which is not the most protective. I did have my mask on, and asked him to back up a bit. Secondly, I did respond to their post-service survey and pointed out the chaotic mess that I experienced. I got both an reply and an phone call for my efforts with a full explanation and apology for what happened. I went on to discuss an additional purchase with the assistant manager, and replied to his email quote. Never got a reply back. When I called to follow up a week later, I was told that he'd moved to another store. That was the end of that discussion. No, seriously. They didn't even try to pick up the ball and run with it. Better, but still could use some improvement. I'll consider this experience four-star cutting them some slack for the pandemic chaos, and average it out with my previous review to an overall three-star rating. read more

Discount tires has always been there for me and my family. The staff is great and very friendly and knowledgeable. The deals are the best in town and I love that they fix flats for free. My daughter was out running errands about a week ago on the south side of town and got a flat tire. They were able to fix it for free and give us some good ideas of prices on the next set of tires for her. The wait was about two hours but it was the middle of the day on Friday and they were a little bit short-staffed. There aren't enough starts to express my gratitude today. I bought tires from them about 7 months ago and also bought the tire protection warranty. I went to leave this afternoon and my tire was flat. i pumped it up at home and put the battery operated pump in my car just in case i needed to pump it up over the next few days before i could get it looked at. I went to my appointment and I finished @515 and immediately headed over to to get my tire looked at. I arrived at the shop at around 5:40 (they close at 6) and I didn't have an appointment. They weren't overly busy and took my car in right away. i was told the repair would be $17 and the person helping me "Matthew" let me know he checked and they had my current tire in stock in case. In less than 10 minutes they let me know they were able to repair it (I had a huge nail in the wall of the tire) and they were in the process of replacing it. the total cost was still $17 so i could add the protection warranty on the new tire. i was out of there by 6pm with a brand new tire. read more
