It breaks my heart to give a Firestone location a 1 star review- I wish there was a little crook symbol instead of a star. I have lived in many different cities and always relied on them to be honest and courteous. Hopefully other Firestones in town are not like this one. I have given this location two chances. The first problem I had was the overselling and condescending "little lady" attitude I received. Really? It's 2014? Is this a Texas thing? My first encounter was an oil change. Nothing out of the ordinary, just kind of rude. BUT, the biggest problem was I took it in a few months later for my state inspection- my regular mechanic is only open M-F and this was a Saturday. In their system they had me still as CA, even though I have TX plates and had gone there before. I could tell they immediately thought this was first state inspection. So, they took this opportunity to try and pull the wool over my eyes. They told me I needed $1000 in repairs to pass the inspection. I inquired why. They sold me BS. I informed them that the reason they were not passing me was not on the list of criteria for a car to pass. It is not. I did my homework. They just stared at me and told me they could give me a credit card to help pay for it but they would not pass it. I left and went to my regular mechanic that Monday morning and guess what?! Yep, it passed. I also asked my mechanic if what Firestone said needed to be fixed actually needed to be fixed. Nope. SHAME ON YOU FIRESTONE. read more

Yay: Ordered them from TireRack.com at a great price and had them shipped to FireStone super fast delivery. Yay: Less than $50 to get them mounted and balanced. Yay: Friendly staff Yay: Guy got the job done in 40m and I was happily on my way. Yay: Clean waiting area with complimentary water, soda, & gatorade. Had to stop in and get my oil changed due to being in the middle of a move and not having my tools. The service was over $100 for a synthetic oil change (5.3L) and when they called to let me know it was ready, they tried to tell me my tires were wearing unevenly and wanted another unreal sum of money. (Tires had less than 200 miles on them) Fast forward 5,500 miles and a few months, I just went to change my oil (10 quarts of oil, an oil filter, and a drain pan $70 by the way)and the drain plug is rounded off... Excellent service and turn around time. Ed took great care of my Ford Flex. The tires were not in stock anywhere in Austin (apparently not a popular model tire). I had a flat/destroyed tire and he found me a comparable tire. He also noticed I needed a second tire since one was almost near end-of-life. I recently had my ignition coils replaced on my 2014 Ford F150 at the Steiner Ranch location. I priced the coils ahead of time online and expected to pay around $80 per coil. When I picked the truck up, Firestone charged me $155.00 per coil. When I questioned this price I was assured that was the price straight from the dealer (ie. what I would have to pay at the dealer for the OEM Motorcraft ignition coil). I paid and left $900+ lighter in the wallet. Not satisfied, I called around the next day. First I called the dealer and they quoted me a price of $125 per coil. I then called Autozone who quoted my $82.00 per coil for the Motorcraft OEM replacement part. I feel ripped off and will NEVER take any of our vehicles to them again. read more

Keep your wits about you. Here is my experience. I was told I needed a new battery and quoted a price well over $200. No other options were mentioned. I went to their website and got a "battery quote" of $142.99. Again, there seemed to be only one choice. I called back and was told (after getting the part number and checking on the computer for a few minutes) that the $142.99 battery was a new model and not in stock. We discussed the battery price of $127.99, the installation price of $15. When I asked if he could get one, he said it would be tomorrow. I said tomorrow was OK, so we had an deal. The battery was installed the next day, but when I came in to pick it up, a different person said it would be over $160. When I asked for the $142.99, she asked for the online quote. (No mention had been made about bringing in the quote, but I had thought to print it and bring it, so I gave it to her.) Finally, I got the quoted price, except for a $3 fee that had not been mentioned before. After I completed their satisfaction form, I got at call from them, and they explained that the "battery quote" only said "Installation STARTING AT $15." This is true, this is what it said. Still when we discuss a $142.99 price on the phone I expect them to give that price, which I admit they eventually did. Also, in their favor, I have had several other things done at Firestone without problems At the end of the day, I still feel like I need to watch my back at Firestone. Have brought both my cars in several times (Mazda/Volvo). The diagnoses and work was well done. I've had an outstanding issue that is intermittent on my Volvo for 3 months and whenever it acts up i bring it over without calling and someone always come running out and helps diagnose it right away and was able to finally able to figure it out. Pros: Really good price on oil change - get your coupon on-line. Reasonable prices even if you don't have a a coupon. They do a through check on the car. They are friendly and do a good job. Cons: They tend to oversell their services. In my case, they wanted to do a pressure check on cooling system because it was rather low on fluids. For some reason they would not top off the fluids - probably because it was not included in the cut rate oil change price. Also, they recommended replacing brakes at 30% of life left (that number came from another shop). The other shop recommended that I wait a little longer. Overall this is a good shop - just be careful about their recommendations. read more

I've always felt like this Firestone location was dishonest, and it was unequivocally confirmed on our last visit. Do yourself a favor and avoid this shop at all costs: -Had car towed after it died on the road. -Firestone said it needed an engine analysis because the engine light was on (Lie #1) -The next day they call to say the car needed an entirely new fuel pump at a cost of $800 (Lie #2) -After having told them to hold off on doing a new fuel pump, we end up speaking to another guy a couple days later who says it actually never needed a new fuel pump - only a fuel sender @ a cost of $300 (Lie #3). -It comes out at this point that the fuel sender was all it ever needed, but they told us it needed a fuel pump because they couldn't get the sender only over the weekend. Hmm. A $500 difference to wait a until Monday? Would have been nice to know. -They also tell us they would not recommend we drive the car, in order to get a second opinion... (Lie #4) -- Other shops said this wouldn't be an issue, as did another Firestone employee. After all this, we end up taking the car to another shop who magically fixes it at zero cost - saying it was never a fuel pump, or fuel sender issue in the first place. It's not had an issue since. To add insult to injury, after filling out a customer experience survey with Firestone, someone from their management calls - not to resolve anything with the issues and concerns, but to speculate as to why his employees may have misled, not told the truth, etc. He then says he'll be having his manager call us the next day. It's been weeks and still no call. (Lie #5) So basically... after being caught trying to defraud us out of $800, they could still care less. read more

Definitely the place to go if you want honest and great service. As a person who has been ripped off in the past by mechanics, Ed leads the most honest mechanic shop I have ever encountered. I took my car in for what I thought was a bad radiator, but after checking it out, The guys found out it was a water pump and recommended I take it somewhere else because of how extensive the work might be. Ed did make sure I had an extended warranty. He could have easily just take in the money, but gave me a great recommendation. In addition, I have taken my car here for other minor repairs and to purchase tires, and they have always been prompt, usually finish the job before their estimated time, and they always communicate with me. This place!! This place was just flat out fantastic!!!!! I mean top notch. My battery was dead. They were close to me at work. I went in, and just let me tell you, the manager and the workers were just freaking fantastic!!! In the end, they didn't have the battery I needed (oh well), but that manager (I think he was the manager), did everything he could to get me a battery!!!! He called the store on 13300 north fm to see if they could help; and yes they sure did help me. The manager got me out the door and helped me to get there!!! Thank you guys sooo much!!! We have taken my husband's 2000 Ford F-250 Diesel here twice for an oil change. The first time they did not tighten the oil filter and we ended up with oil all over our garage. The second time they did not tighten the drain plug. We had to clean up another oil mess at home. We also had the tires rotated. A week later, the brake line broke and it was visibly bent and rubbing against the shocks. No proof, but they were the only people under the hood that could have caused this. Love, love, love this new Firestone Center! My first experience was on this location's third day of business. It had all of the best parts of a new business and all of the best parts of a well-established business. The facilities were clean and bright, and the staff and mechanics are all professional and highly experienced. They gave me a ride home so that I didn't have to wait while my car was being serviced, and gave me a return ride from my home when my car was complete. In addition to regular maintenance, I've also had a check engine light issue investigated, and later called back with a question about it. Ed answered my questions quickly, knowledgeably and honestly. These folks have my business for the long haul! read more

Brought my daughter's car in at 9am for a simple oil change before she headed back home. Was quoted 2-3 hours so I got another ride and left it. 5 hours later and no word or call on the status, I stopped back by. They informed me they hadn't gotten to it yet. If this is an acceptable level of service and professionalism then by all means use Firestone. If, however, you have higher standards like myself and consider five hours of your time to be a valuable thing you would do well to look elsewhere. read more

I came in with a flat tire. I had run over a steel post. The guy from pop a lock scared me about driving over 50 on my doughnut spare. I can't drive 55 so I went to Firestone as it is in my hood. They did not have my tire but he told me he would check about getting it and call me back. I told him it would be a bit before I could be back as my kids have sport games the next two nights and I work away from home. He calls back while I am at the randalls and says they will get the tire tomorrow and if I want I can leave my wheel and they will put the tire on it. Wow a tire place that does not want to waste hours of my time. Excellent customer service. I have a list of tire places I dislike (Lambs, Discount tires) so this is a major find for me. read more

As a last resort before being forced to go to the dealership, I pulled in to the Firestone Steiner Ranch not expecting good news with help on an issue with my trunk latch being stuck. But to my very pleasant surprise, Ed jumped right in and got my trunk open in mere minutes. What's more, he wouldn't accept a dime from me, and no doubt saved me hundreds of dollars by not having to drive to the dealer in Round Rock. $2000 repair including tire rotation. The price was a couple hundred cheaper than the dealership, but when they rotated my tires they took my wheel lock key out of my glovebox and never put it back. Stopped by to talk to someone and they said they "always hand it to them in person" when they give them the keys, which is total bull. This was literally the first time I've gotten my car fixed somewhere other than my dealership, and I don't think I'll be returning here again. The $200 or $300 you save isn't worth the hassle when they screw something up and take no responsibility. They even had the balls to tell me they can fix it for more money instead of apologizing. Instead of trying to resolve the problem, they just tried to find a way to get more money. read more

Why book an appointment online? I travel extensively and drive 40,000 miles a year so I get frequent oil changes. My car is a fleet car and I have 12 employees that report to me directly that I also get them company cars. I will tell the to avoid firestone unless they want to go maybe during the week when not busy. Quote. 1 1/2 hours after making an appointment week prior so I guess I am equal to a walk in. I watched as customers that showed up 30 minutes after go in and out with their oil change. Nothing was wrong with my car but I watch them standing around and take 30 minutes to put tires on after rotating. One tire 5 minutes then a break, then another tire etc.... it was so painful to watch. My car was on the lift for over an hour and after over 2 hours and 10 minutes finally got done. They also don't cars in order for some reason. read more

Got up on a Saturday morning to a flat tire. Live in same neighborhood, so my husband drove it up to Firestone. They said they were packed for the day, but would look at it and tell us what it needed. Still didn't hear anything Sunday morning, so called and told they would call us back at 1:00p. Called them at 1:30p and was told they did get to look at it we "had" to purchase 4 new tires if they were going to fix the one flat, as the tread was outside of the 4/32nds measurement or whatever. I explained that was very surprising, as the car only had 5,000 miles on it. She sputtered a little bit and asked me to hold. 3-4 minutes later she came back on the line apologizing, telling me that she had thought it was weird so retested my tread and whomever had tested it before "must have gotten a faulty gauge out of the box," and "sometimes those boxes of gauges have faulty ones." The tires were all fine, but they didn't have our same tire in stock to replace the flat. I immediately asked them to put my spare on and I would be coming in to pick it up to take it to another tire place. Hard to trust my neighborhood tire store after that. Didn't mind the wait, but really disappointed about being told it was mandatory that we replace our virtually new tires. read more

Jim and associates were super helpful. He was aware of the costliness of my repairs and tried to find the best solution while keeping in mind what I can spend. I ended up spending quite a bit because my tires were in that bad of shape but Jim was really trying. So after giving me a total, he brings me back and tells me theres tires for my car that are even cheaper that he will apply the discount for. I could tell Jim is a good guy and i'm in good hands. Not recommended for oil change services. I was a consistent client until I checked under the hood, all the fluids were on the fill line, that means thst you need to fill them. I went back to this shop and asked the manager to fill them up to the levels as I was used to on all the places that I have taken my car for service, to have these filled as required and they said that they dont do that because they dont want to mess up with a different fluid. Here is what it makes me think that I wont be back to this place since they dont know how to handle a fluid, imagine with brakes!! No! After he said that, I checked the receipt and I saw that the inspection points were marked as green. If it is on fill you have to mark it as red so the customers know that he needs to refill , not wait until something breaks and then this guy makes money of you. I wouldnt have given them not even one star! Not coming back. read more

I scheduled an appointment online for an "inspection" and was hoping for a state inspection. Later I was told it was only for general inspections, and they offered the previous customer to try down the road for the drive in ones cause state inspections are "first come first serve." I offered to do the same and they said they could squeeze me in the time if i keep the general inspection. I said sure, and was told it would take an hour. I waited for 3 hours and finally went up and asked what was happening and the speaker turns and sees its done... so i paid double for what couldve been done at a fraction of the time elsewhere. The icing on top was when he said "we filled your tires" ... not five minutes out my tire light turns on and THEY ACTUALLY SOMEHOW DEFLATED THEM?! The tires' pressure were wayyy below standard and I had to pull over and get that sorted. Hell no to that ever again. Find a better place. read more

Ed and the boys are a great addition to Steiner Ranch. Highly recommend A+++. I must admit, I was hesitant at first, having had a bad experience with a Firestone franchisee near our old home (heavy up sell, go in for an oil change and get pressured to replace every air filter in the car, wipers, alignment, etc), but the store in Steiner is a corporate owned store and is managed with a great deal of attentiveness to the customer. I have not been "upsold" and use them on all 4 of our family's vehicles, ranging from a 1976 Jeep, which requires quite a bit of care from time to time, to new cars requiring only preventive maintenance. In all instances, pricing was known before the work was started and was very reasonable. Plus, there is free shuttle to/from home (if living in Steiner). Convenience, price and quality - much needed in Steiner (the quality part, anyway, see my reviews on the restaurants our community offers for more on that...) read more

I don't know how these people stay in business. They just gave my son a verbal quote of $50ish dollars on changing spark plugs and then charged him over $713.84! wow, what a difference. On a google search just changing the plugs should only cost around $150. They also "claim" to have done other work that totaled up to $920. All he agreed on was the oil change and spark plugs and they told him "we did it anyway, and you have to pay for it!" Totally taking advantage of my young inexperience son. I'm taking his truck to a mechanic to verify the work was even done as my neighborhood social group has multiple claims of being charged for work not received. If that is the case I will be stopping the charge on my credit card and filing charges against them. This has to stop. read more

I won't go into all the details, but I bought tires and lifetime alignment for my BMW X5 from an out of state location. Having since moved to ATX, developed some issues with my suspension and took it in to see the folks at this location. I cannot express enough my appreciation of their frank, transparent, and consultative approach to the issue that was identified. This is an example of a high quality, ethical, business that forms a partnership with its customer base vs. taking them for everything they can - sadly, a rare exception in the world today.
