My car had died, and based on my understanding, I believed the battery was the issue. I had purchased the battery from this shop about a year ago and was told it had a 3-year warranty, so I came in expecting to have the battery replaced under warranty. Instead, I was told there was nothing wrong with my battery. The situation then turned into an issue with my alternator. I was initially quoted $1,500 for a new alternator, then $1,200, and eventually told Randy's "homeboy" could do it for $500 cash. I told him I didn't have $500, and he asked, "What do you have?" He eventually agreed to $200 cash. When I came back for clarification, I was told I was getting a brand-new alternator. However, when I returned, the same alternator was still on my car. I was then told that the positive wire on the alternator had been fixed and the alternator had been cleaned, and that was what the $200 was for. I was given a $0 receipt for the warranty battery, but no itemized receipt explaining the $200 cash charge. I left extremely confused and feeling like I had been misled about what work was actually being done. I don't know a lot about cars, but customers deserve honesty, clear communication, and documentation of what they are paying for. I personally feel like I was taken advantage of. Be aware of Randy and make sure you get everything in writing before paying for additional work.

Warning! Take your car elsewhere!!…read more My boyfriend and I took our truck here to get the transmission replaced in November. It's been almost half of a year and three bad transmissions before the owner, Dennis, most recently told us he didn't have time to fix it. After we reminded him he had $3,000 of our money and the job was under warranty, he obliged to actually fixing what we originally hired him to do. Four days after we were told our vehicle would be ready, we did not receive a single phone call. When our truck was finally ready it was not even a half an hour later and my boyfriend was again, stuck on the side of the road. Dennis was unapologetic and sent us on our way with no refund. This is our only vehicle and as I write this review, my boyfriend, who has already worked a ten hour day, is outside with a flash light trying to do what he can to get our truck running so it can take us to work in the morning. I'm not upset that we don't have a vehicle. I just don't understand how you can hire someone to do a job and they can act like you are inconveniencing them, take your money, and send you on walking. We will be taking legal action, in addition to vocalizing our experience to our neighbor consumers. Save yourself and a lot of money and go to another mechanic.

Had to find a diesel mechanic that was good, could fit us in, and wouldn't break the bank. Dependable Diesel was recommended to us by a fellow camper. Took our truck there. They diagnosed the issue as a bad DPF sensor along with finding a couple other items that would eventually cause us some issues if not addressed. Unfortunately, we only had the truck and the thought of being stranded at the shop all day waiting for my truck to be fixed was not good. Luckily, they had a loaner car that they offered to us. That was a life saver as we were about 20 miles from the shop. Needless to say, they were able to get my truck fixed in a couple of hours and were able to send us on our way. I would highly recommend them if you need your truck worked on.

What I thought was going to be a harsh diagnosis and a dreaded trip to the impound, Jack (shout out to the chillest and most friendly mechanic I've had the please of interacting with to date) quickly determined that the battery itself was the primary concern, and is in the process of ordering a new one that will keep my car running just the right amount of time needed to complete my moving out objectives. I genuinely had prepared myself for spending $300+ just to determine that the car was worthless overall, instead I've been ecstatically informed that it has new life and can be sold at a reasonable value on the market. Even if they had genuinely informed me that the car was indeed out of commission, I would trust their word more so than many a family members these days, that is how honest and forthright Steve's Mobile Auto Care is as a whole. The entire experience, from my initial text to this unexpected positive turn of events, has been other worldly as far as auto mechanics go. There haven't been any "diagnostic fees" accompanied by terminology and long winded explanations that only a veteran mechanic would understand. No 3-4 page "invoices" that detail how horrifically I've been treating my car, and guilt inducing "well if only you had" monologues implying I'm the worst car owner they've ever come across. Just straight forward, easy going and trustworthy communication, incredibly relaxed scheduling process, and the wholesome feeling that I haven't been taken for a ride (not the good kind) and endured a significant hit to my wallet. I can walk away from this experience still standing, or better yet, driving away knowing that all is well under the hood and that my budget hasn't been entirely wrecked this month. What a company, what a crew, what a breath of fresh air in a world that constantly seems to undermine your genuine efforts as a car owner. A million stars all around.
