I wanted to say the old staff was let go, and a completely new staff has been hired in the last few months. I had a negative experience at a Firestone location. It took an hour longer than needed to get an oil change. Then, when I went to pay, the service advisor didn't know how to use the cash register. He could not provide a receipt and asked to write down my credit card for processing once the manager returned. My recommendation is to avoid Firestone because there's something shady about how they do business.​ read more

Could have not gone better! Was caught while driving, with a low pressure tire light on. Pulled off the toll road, and to the nearest gas station. Noticed a nail in the tires tread. My luck was right across the street from this Firestone. Called for an emergency appointment, and was given a spot In less than a hour. The information I was given was spot on. They repair a tire the correct way, by patching from the inside. I was also told that the tire may be damaged, and it can only be inspected by looking at the inside sidewall. This is also correct. And my tire was unsafe to repair. If they had just (Plugged) the tire like 90% of shops. I would have been driving an unsafe vehicle. The price was more than fair. Took my car there for front brakes on Sunday and after waiting the first 2 1/2 hours I was told that they ordered the wrong parts. Kevin working in the front desk, seemed to be busier with his kid in the back and to shy to address the situation and after 3.5 hrs and being offered less than 10% for the inconvenience, I asked for my car back and the original parts to be put back on because they clearly didn't know what they were doing. I did not get my car back until 5:30 PM. I waited for over four hours. Service, skill and professionalism were clearly left at home and as you can see from the pictures they put one old break on and one wrong size new brake pad. I took it to guys at Suburban that used to work for Firestone. my mechanic there had over 30 years experience and they said the mechanic working on my car had no idea what he was doing and that my rear brakes were the ones that really needed replacement more than the front. They had never seen a car come in the shop where only one new brake pad was installed. So the moral of the story is, do not take your car to this store for brakes . read more

First of all I specifically told Zuriel that I did not want or need tire valve stems as the car has metal valve stems which are part of the Tire pressure monitoring system Before giving him the keys, I gave Zuriel $40.00 TIP and said I have worked on cars at the dealer level for some time and $20 was for him and $20 was for the service tech who did the work. Upon driving the car home, I noticed the steering wheel was still not straight. OK, no big deal as I purchased a "lifetime" alignment. I will stop in when I have more time. When I got home, I noticed that the wheel lock key was no where to be found. I called and after some time waiting, I was told the tech "forgot" to put it back in the car. I drove back, picked up the wheel key and mentioned that the steering wheel was not straight. I was told that it would be a long wait. I said no as you should have aligned it correctly the first time. I was super nice as things happen. I was shown the alignment machine readings and indeed toe was correct and asked did you center the wheel? I mentioned that I wanted to go for a ride to be sure. Sure enough the wheel was now straight "surprise". I got home and was checking e-mail a couple of hours later and noticed they charged me for valve stems. OK I called and asked how they replaced the "rubber" valve stems? Silence....Oh I will ask the tech. Oh we forgot to take them off. Well you should have never been added in the first place. This place is GREAT, you can really trust most of the people who work here. I especially like to deal with Chuck or Rich (the manager), I don't like Tom that much. The technicians are all top notch. Please see my blog for more details and reviews. I can't believe I have never written about them before, but it is actually an enjoyable experience to bring the cars in here! I have two older cars and when I take them in for an oil change the DO NOT try to sell me air filter/pcv/whatever like the quick lube places. When they recommend maintenance it is necessary, and usually at least 1/2 the price of the dealer. They have done a lot of work for us over the past three years and there has never been an issue with the work. Best of all with the Firestone credit card its a $20 oil change, and 90 days same as cash. They also send great coupons. If you want an easy experience with someone you can trust stop in! read more

Brought my car in for brakes on a Sunday, which is about the only thing good about this place. New pads and rotors all around. Price was good for the work, but several months later the front rotors became warped? Factory rotors lasted 85k miles. These didn't last 10k miles. Discovered they used the cheapest parts from a chain parts store. They also never call to let me know if the parts were in that they claimed to have gotten from the dealer. The guys who work here are kind and courteous and professional. I got the feeling they felt really bad for me and wanted to work to fix my problem. And this was the only nice thing I could say about them, because my experience was just horrible and I didn't know why I kept going back. I took my car in a few months ago because of a coolant leak. I needed the radiator replaced. This sucked, because it was expensive, but it had to be done and I liked the service. So when they told me I would also need my timing gasket replaced to fix another coolant leak, I understood and shelled out more money. At this point, I had spent over $1,500 at Firestone. And here is where things get dicey: I had my timing gasket replaced on January 12th of this year. I was back in Firestone on January 14th because I was still leaking coolant, which was being caused by a old clamp which had not been replaced. Ok, that's fine... mistakes get made, and I wasn't charged. This weekend (the 23rd), my car had started leaking a considerable amount of oil. So, I brought it in on the 27th to be looked at, and they replaced a seal that was part of the gasket that they replaced on the twelfth. Ok... now this is getting frustrating. But, at least all is done, right? NOPE! Imagine my surprise when my "oil pressure low" light came on the very next day. This is particularly frustrating because I do a lot of travelling for my job and needed to drive 150 miles that evening. I brought the car in and Firestone did comp me a nice rental car (all I paid was the insurance). So, I figured when they called me today, all would be fixed, and this frustration would finally come to an end. Why am I so stupid? My call today with Firestone may be the most infuriating call I've ever had with a mechanic. They explained the seal would keep coming loose because of a knocking which is occurring. They offered one suggestion to fix the car for $500, but also admitted that even if I spent this money, there is a chance the car would still knock the seal off and may be a crank in the engine. "There's just no way to be sure," I was told. I told them to close my car up so I could take it somewhere else. So, let's summarize: I spend $1,500 to fix 2 coolant leaks. I have to return the car once to fix something which should've been taken care of at the start, and now have a oil leak from a problem which only occurred when they replaced my gasket. For this to not be connected would be the mother of all coincidences. I guess what I'm saying is this: anyone know a good car guy? read more

On 4/10/2014, I went for an oil change and this store (store #303776) did not do the right service the first time and the service advisor on duty, Manny, was unprofessional and unethical. In fact, based on Manny's behavior and attitude, he's a dick-ish jackass. I specifically asked to use a synthetic blend 0W-20 oil and the invoice shows that the store used 5W-20. #fail I asked Manny to check the air pressure in the left rear tire because I thought it was a bead seal due to the harsh winter (i.e., from salt, which causes corrosion in the seal between the rim and tire) and I told him I physically inspected it myself for foreign material. He repaired the tire without my authorization and magically he showed me a nail. Manny makes a used car saleman look reputaable. #jackass If you value the integrity of your car and the safety of your family in that car, stay away from this store. I took my car there around closing time like 6:40 looking to test my car because it shut down on me. they told me since it was late they couldn't do a complete test now if I leave the car in the morning the manger will test the car I agreed. when tomorrow came my husband went and waited the test still haven't been done at the time so he left. then I got a call around 11 so my husband went back then they told me that a complete test would be around 124 dollars again i agreed after 3 hours at this point my husband has gone to work I haven't gotten an update so at this point I have to walk in the hot sun. while walking there I called the manger and he yelled at me. so I've had a enough, I get there and they haven't work on my car at all yet and then excuse was "you didn't have an appointment" now it that was the case why did you let me car sleep he all night? not only that after they were finished they held my car and told me to get my car back I have to pay first, like what was I going to do run with the ca?! it already has problem all I want is a test to check what's wrong with it. This place is absolutely untrustworthy. I am shocked at the fact that an enthusiastic positive review exists. This place is a minute away from my family's home so we've made multiple mistakes in returning there. I'll catalog 3: 1. It turned out we didn't buy a tire warranty we were certain we had bought. 2. It turned out that the special lug nut remover from my car was missing. I had to buy additional services that came out to $10 more than the "worst case scenario" price I was quoted. 3. It turned out that the special silver air caps for my tire were accidentally replaced by regular black caps. Luckily, I noticed almost right away and my caps were returned, not before the dishonest manager put on a show loudly asking if anyone knew what I was talking about. Meanwhile, the honest manager walked around through a side door with my caps. If I were to go into details, you would think the shop was run by professional criminals. I cannot stress this enough: save your money and your sweat and tears. Go somewhere else and don't take multiple visits, like we did, to avoid this place for good. Also, Firestone Corporate, take control of your reputation and train these guys or replace them with honest professionals. I see the reviews here and that has NEVER been my experience at this Firestone. Once, several months ago, I ran over something and sliced my tire. It is a leased car and it was the end of the day. There was nothing they could do for me, but they did not leave me until my ride showed up, which was after they closed, and I was allowed to leave my car overnight. On the coldest day ever here in Chicago recently, I went in because my tire pressure was low. All they asked is that I wait. It may be 10 min., it may be 1/2 hour, so the mechanics could finish what they had started. I gladly waited, and it was about 10 minutes. Again these were 2 services and I couldn't spend a dime in their store, but they were extremely kind. Thank you and I would recommend. read more

On the coldest day of the winter naturally the air pressure in my tires will need to be adjusted. I called in advance to see if this firestone could help me out. The guy told me that I'd have to wait an hour or so until there was room to pull my vehicle inside as their air pumps freezes.... LIES!! When I pulled up there was a car outside in front of me getting their tires adjusted. In my head I'm thinking GREAT, I'm next in line.. This guy didn't even acknowledge my presence and walked back into the garage and let the door down as if I wasn't there. Me being patient I stay there for 15 minutes thinking he would return, maybe he needed to warm up because it was COLD! HE NEVER RETURNED.. I was so upset.. Why totally disregard your customers. I have been a Firestone customer for years. When I moved to Warrenville I was happy to see lots of options for auto care in the area. I went to a few in the area as they were very close by but ultimately I have settled on Firestone on Farnsworth and Butterfield as my first choice for auto care. The office staff and the technicians they employ have all earned my trust over the last 3 yrs. They are there to help you address the issues at hand and will not try to cram a bunch of repairs down your throat. I took my old Jeep there and they inspected it and then gave me a prioritized list of things that NEED fixed now and then what can wait and then what to look for on some other things that may need attention later on. They were extremely informative and gave me an idea for what kind of repairs and cost I would be looking at down the road for all the things they listed. I felt really cared for. I left with confidence in my vehicle as I had a clear picture of its health and it's likely future performance being relatively care free and not needing imminent repairs. Auto care is a rough business as just about every customer that comes through the door has been fleeced and is still worried about being fleeced. I've never had that feeling from this Firestone location or any other for that matter. They take their customers questions and concerns to heart and they go the extra mile in helping you take the right corrective actions when needed and they are always friendly to deal with setting up appointments or contacting you when your car is ready or you need to be brought up to speed on what they have discovered during their inspections. If they call me, I know what to expect, a knowledgeable and caring employee giving me the straight truth about what is going on under my hood. They will try to sell you into all kinds of repairs that you don't need, try to get you to obtain financing to buy the repairs you don't need, all the typical BS you get from shysters. TWO of my neighbors had work done here as well, and both had to take their cars back because they were not repaired correctly, both had to wait more than a day for their cars. We recently went to this facility for new tires. It is very clean and always looks busy, so when the time came for my husband to get new tires, I recommended he go here. I had a good experience at the one by Woodfield and expected the same here. He came home spending $900 on an alignment and new battery, with a huge list of things they recommended be done. Later that night, he ran an errand and none of the dash lights were working. This was NOT a problem before the battery (that he wasn't having any problems with before they recommended replacing). I went with him to take the car back and give him a ride. I told the service tech that it sounded like a grounding issue from the new battery, and he said it was probably just a coincidence. I told him I didn't think so, and asked if they would be able to look at it the same day since it was dangerous to be driving with no dash lights at night. They kept the car for about 4 hours and said they changed a fuse and the lights were working again. They also said one of the high beams was out and they cost to replace the Jeep's headlight was high. So, we said pass and just picked up the vehicle. 2 days later and the back brakes blow out all over I-294. I don't believe in coincidences like this. We are lucky he was able to get to a local repair place in the city and get it fixed without being stranded during a snowstorm. I do NOT recommend going to this place. They are liars and incompetent. I had tie rods replaced and needed them to align it. They kept it for four hours and then told me they could not align due to bad tie rods. Would like to know what happened to my car. Go to pick it up from there Saturday around 8pm and the car isn't out side????? We have to wait till Monday to call them and then we are told that the car must have been stolen from their lot. We were told that they put the keys in it and locked the door. To get in "locked" doors you either must have a door key(which we did) or the keys with the chips in them. So if the door was "locked" how did they get in?? We will change this review once things have been "cleared" up. read more

All the employees are rude very rude!!! Especially the store manager. They could care a less about customers. Everytime I go in there I am never greeted with a smile only with what do you need. If you are paying for services then they will do whatever they can to not help you. I bought my tires with a warranty from here and whenever I need something they push me away. Will not take my care back to them!!! Had brought my care in for new breaks. After a couple days heard sounds from the back. Had to go to Addison on business on the way there my break light fluid light came on after a noise and my breaks felt different. It was harder to break and took longer. Call this Firestone what happened and to expect my vehicle there in the morning. I borrowed another car from someone I know. Drove back at the Firestone to see what happened. Apparently, one of my break pads fell off. REALLY! After getting my breaks fixed again I noticed my break fluid light came back on after I drive on the interstate.. Took it back again for the light going on. They said the light comes on for no reason sometimes, they checked it but they saw nothing. They said they even tested on the interstate, but my gas gage never changed from the time I dropped my car off. It they actually drove my car I would have had less gas then when I dropped my car off. So, my break light still comes on when I drive on the interstate or a country road that I go 60 miles an hour on. Definitely, will not come back! I wouldn't even gave them one star, except I had to in order to continue and finish the review. read more

BUYER BEWARE! I took my vehicle in for a flat repair. Upon pulling the vehicle into the shop the service writer immediately stated that the tire was unrepairable without even inspecting it because he observed some fix a flat that leaked out of the tire onto the ground. Then he attempted to sell me a new tire. I explained to him that I have seven years experience in the tire business and I know that you cannot simply tell if a tire is unrepairable because it has fix a flat in it. The correct procedure is to break the tire down, clean out the fix a flat and attempt to plug/patch the tire. If the glue that is used to secure the plug/patch does not adhere to the inside of the tire then the tire is unrepairable. However if the glue does adhere to the inside of the tire then it is repairable. His response was that "it is Firestone's policy not to repair ANY tire that has fix a flat in it." I took my vehicle to another repair shop who inspected the tire and repaired it within 30 minutes. I have had no further problems with the tire. I would not recommend this shop to anybody. read more

I took my Ranger Rover here because it was shifting really rough. I had done all the normal stuff myself like check transmission fluid etc. I was expecting a $300 bill at minimum but it came out to less than $100 and was done the same day. If you need anything besides tires done I would stay far away from this Firestone. Have had multiple problems with work they have performed. Totally untrustworthy - After going here several times we noticed the quote on the phone is always around $300 for some strange reason. After letting them do the work we needed on the transmission lines - my husband was changing the oil the next day and noticed they had not changed all transmission lines and the bill said they changed the trans cooler - and they never did. After approaching them they lied saying that's how it comes out on the bill. After much arguing - we finally we got half of our money back and a free oil change - Do not trust them one bit. The catalytic converter was cut off of my vehicle. I was please to find out that all I had to do was pay the deductible and my van would be fixed. We took it to Firestone and received 1,300 estimate. Josh was very helpful and faxed all the info to my insurance company . They insurance gave approval the next day for van to be fixed. Great, we dropped it off and they said it would be completed the next day . I called they said it was almost finished and they would call me as soon as it was completed. I never received a call back . I called them and my van had been completed for hours and just waiting for pickup . I said I just want to confirm I pay you the deductible and my insurance co has made payment arraignments with you?He said I must pay the full bill, they do not deal with insurance. This was not what I was told when I received my estimate . To confirm I called my insurance company. They called Firestone for a tax I.D number and never received a call back. Allstate was waiting on the number to make payment arrangements. Since a call back never happened they were mailing the check to me, but if they got the tax I.D number arrangements could be made. Called Firestone back, the guy who answered the phone laughed and said I have no clue what that number is, you will have to deal with my manager tomorrow. I asked if he could leave a note and this could be taken care for in the morning. I called Tilton the manager this morning, and asked if he had spoken to Allstate , his response repeatedly was" mam, I spoke with your husband" . I told him my husband is at work and I am the person dealing with the situation, its my van and I need it today. Once again once again said "mam, I spoke to your husband." Can you tell me what you spoke to my husband about, he seemed very annoyed that I couldn't just call my husband at work and get the details.So he finally said its his personal policy not to take payment from the insurance company . If I want to write the check for the full amount I can pick up my vehicle. I told him I was calling Allstate . Once again he said "mam, I have spoken to your husband'. Told me to have a blessed day and praise Jesus. He then called my insurance company and told them I was am hysterical female, Allstate said I have no idea why they are unwilling to make the arrangements, that 99.9 % of shops have no issue with this. Tilton will take payment from them if the adjuster drives over and hands him a check. after 2 hours of phone calls,an adjuster from my insurance company is going to drive over and cut them a check today. Allstate has been fabulous about this whole matter. They like me, can not believe how difficult Tilton has made the whole process. Yes, I could have written them a check and waited the 7-10 days for Allstate to mail me a check. If that is Firestone's policy, I should have been told that from the beginning and given the option of doing to another repair shop. In today's world, a lot of people do not have an extra $1,300 . Tilton, acted like a total chauvinist! I did speak to my husband , who was so confused because he like me thought the whole thing was going to be taken care of by insurance. Brought my vehicle in for an oil change and air condition Freon servicing. My car was there for 3 hours while I waited. The only thing they ended up doing was an oil change. Why???? Because I was told by Manny that I needed a harmonic balancer before they could service my air conditioner. He said the air conditioner belt was broken...which I can believe. I also was told the alternator belt needed replacement. I didn't believe that my car needed a $500 repair cost for a harmonic balancer. I asked him to service the air and replace the belts. Manny said he couldn't do that because the AC belt wouldn't stay on. I asked why he couldn't replace the alternator belt then and he gave the same reply. I told him that it made no sense to me since both belts he said would not stay on if replaced, were stable on the vehicle. There is not indication that my car needed the work he claimed. The harmonic balancer keeps the vehicle from heavy vibration. Well, my car runs very smooth and very quiet. Symptoms indicating repair is shaking of the motor, loud noises coming from the motor and problems with start up. My car has none of those symptoms. In addition, my vehicle has sensors which determine and specify if anything is wrong with the engine or transmission. Also, Manny said that I have a transmission leak and that they would also need to repair the transmission line. I called him on that, as well. I asked him, if that were the case, why is my driveway dry or anywhere I park. Then he said, "Oh, it must have just started because it wasn't leaking, but the outside of the line was wet...... Another recommendation was that my brakes were bad and would all need replacement. Well, guess what, my brakes were all replaced less than a year ago at another Firestone and are under lifetime warranty. For a maintenance visit that should have been less than $100, I was given charges of work that Manny said that I needed immediately of almost $1200. I told Manny that I would take my car and go get a second opinion and that I believed he was trying to scam me. He replied, "Why would I do that." I am very good a reading facial expression, body language, and voice tone/inflections, so it was clear to me by his weak response and slight grin that he was being deceptive. I believe Firestone must be giving incentives to mechanics to sell more services. Those without scruples are there to take advantage of trusting people. Unfortunately, especially being a female I have been burned too many times, but am now older and wiser and can spot a scam a mile away. Just like many of those mechanic scams caught on 20/20, Dateline, etc.... Mechanic Manny did not count on me knowing anything about my car or cars in general, so he was unable to sell me unnecessary repairs. I think he was pretty surprised that he wasn't able to con me. For good measure, my husband called him to confront him about his attempt to mislead me. I came to Firestone after finding a nail in my tire. Mohammed was my service adviser, and he was incredibly friendly and courteous throughout my visit. They patched the tire, did a full vehicle check, and I was in and out within an hour. They went through the vehicle inspection with me and mentioned what I'd need service on and when, but never pushed me into any services I didn't want or need. I keep up with the maintenance on my car, so I can confirm that everything I was told was accurate. I can't speak for more costly or more labor intensive work, but for this quick fix I got everything I needed for a reasonable price, and with good customer service. read more

My check engine light and battery light came on on my way into work. I brought my car in because it was the closest repair shop to where I work. They told me that the alternator was bad so they replaced the alternator and also told me the battery was bad so I decided to trust them and had that replaced also. A week later my check engine light and battery light go back on. I brought my car back and they charged me $107 'diagnostics' to tell me that the 2 lights were on again because the alternator they had replaced one week prior had a bad part and was not charging my battery correctly. Their fault! After fighting to get refunded my $ they had tried to charge me for their mistake, they replaced my alternator. On my drive back to work the battery light came back on. I called the shop and spoke with the 'store manager', who was very condescending towards me, he told me that the tech who worked on my car 'forgot' to talk to me when I went and picked it up and that they had found another issue with an electrical panel cluster which was the only reason my battery light was on. He could not answer to why I not told this while I was waiting in the shop to pick up my car. Overall, it was a horrible experience and I have already told my family and co-workers to never take their cars to this Firestone location again. read more

If I could give zero stars, I would! This new management stinks!! The first time dealing with the new management, I had a broken car handle and went in. They told me they would call me when the new handle came in. I called them 3 weeks later and was told "Oh. Yeah. We got the handle, didn't know who it was for and sent it back." Ok. I gave them another chance. New management I thought I would give them a break. Then on chance number two, I went in with a burnt out headlamp. They replaced it and told me that my turn signal was broken and I needed to replace my right front pig tail and quoted me $75.54 for the part and labor. Which I found fishy because my turn signal worked just fine before I got there. Again, I waited for a call back for the part. Never heard a word. I called them back and they said "Oh. Yeah. Let me see where we are with that. We'll call you back." Today I took my car to Ollie's Garage in Batavia and the guy was dumbfounded. The bulb was brand new but wasn't even screwed in!!! Firestone was going to charge me $75.54 AND waste my time just to screw in a bulb. I am DONE with FIRESTONE!! I came in for an oil change...(which they did promptly and even applied a coupon from my phone which saved me from having to print it)... then I remembered that my breaks were squeaking. No problem, they said, we'll check it out. Then I remembered I was leaving on a road trip in 2 days and needed the fluids etc checked....No problem, they said, they always check that. My breaks were fine, my oil was good to go, all my auto fluids were good to go. Mo threw me off because he was so calm, courteous, and mellow. I kept expecting there to be additional charges. But no, "no problem"; the only charge was for the oil change I came in for. Then..... when I got home I noticed a hubcap missing. I called Mo. I began to make my case..."if it was missing when I got there they should've told me...." But, no problem said Mo. He said, yes they should have mentioned it; he apologized. And he ordered me a new one, courtesy of Firestone. If you want prompt, relaxed, excellent customer service stop in at this Firestone location. If you want excitement and drama, watch the daytime talk shows in the lobby while you wait. read more
