Sigh, I want to root for you, Fireside Cafe, but you make it a challenge. Everything tastes like something I can make at home, or worse. Kind of a cross between bar food and food from DQ, but I've had bar food that's better than this. First, why Fireside? There is no fireplace! Also, the space gives off more of a bar & grill vibe than a cafe vibe, IMO. When we stopped in at Friday at 5, I was hoping we found a hidden gem. But, seeing no one here to dine should have been the first indication to go elsewhere...this was the worst meal I've had in a long time! Fried Ravioli - not enough sauce, and they were round? All other friend ravioli I've had were square. They were not good, would have preferred them to be meat instead of ricotta. Fish & Chips - while the fries were cooked well, they had no seasoning. Fish was meh. Was given something that looked and tasted like honey mustard, but lo and behold they put mustard in the tarter sauce...vile. Fruit cup was good, until the honeydew...tasted off. My husband had the chicken parm, which he liked, but after tasting it, I don't see how. Tasted like straight up flour. Maybe I ordered the wrong things? I may never know, as I see no reason to return to Fireside Cafe. read more

I stopped in for an early working lunch as I work remotely. Great service, they had one waitress on duty but she was young, energetic, and covering all the tables. She also quickly delivered drinks, order, etc. Food was pretty good, I got a build your own pizza. Tasty, dough is made fresh on site, but not the best I've had. I was initially concerned by how large their menu was but the restaurant executes it well. The pizza was good, but a little more sauce and more generous topping application would have made it great. My second and last time here. I was hoping for improvements from my first visit as it's under new management. Upon arriving it was a slow meet and greet and seated. It is a strange vibe and two ladies sitting at the bar had just fought and yelled at the bartender and paid and stormed out. Menu is interesting with a little bit if this and that. I opted for Chicken Picatta. It came with a salad that came out with limp greens that needed some ice water before letting it set in the walk-in. After the salad came the entree. OMG it was swimming in the liquid that was supposed to be a lemon cream sauce. Chef school 101 in sauce making is that a sauce should coat the back of a spoon. No coating here as it was way too thin. Even the flavor was lacking. I ate half and boxed the rest up. I unfortunately wanted to support local business but this was another fail for me. Not even sure where to start. I've been to restaurants all across the US and the world, and this was by far one of my worst experiences. There were dirty tables everywhere that hadn't been cleaned. We were sitting for at least 20 minutes with no service (not even water) so I had to go up and ask for a waiter to come to our table. It took an additional 10-15 minutes just to get water and coffee. Coffee was watery. Food was absolutely disgusting, my husband and I couldn't take more than a couple of bites. Even the bacon was nasty. How do you go wrong with bacon?? It's no wonder there were barely any customers here while other brunch spots were overflowing--that should have been the first red flag. Needless to say, we will never come back. read more

The food was undercooked. I ordered a well done burger and it was very pink. Sent it back. Still came back undercooked. Hubby ordered med well and his was almost bloody. The wait was horribly long so we opted to pack up our food and cook it at home. They only had 1 person answering phones and waiting on all tables and this was at noon. The tiles on the bar front had many broken a nd missing pieces. The flower hangers in front were rusted and missing the container to actually hold flowers. I had seen good reviews so thought I would want to try this place because everything on the menu seemed great as well and I won't lie I was a little worried when I walked in and when the food first arrived. I was not worried at all once I got a taste. My friend had a veggie quesadilla with feta cheese which is kind of a weird combination that worked out really well, and my salmon club was amazing! I added a little bit of chipotle mayo, and that really made the difference in taking it from a good sandwich to a great one. Prices are really cheap, food is delicious, service was okay at best but it was also well worth the trip still. Not in this area often but I'll probably come back when I am. My neighbor & I were looking for a good breakfast/lunch spot & stumbled upon this place. We arrived around 10:30 am & I inquired if I could order off the lunch menu that early. I was met with a resounding YES! Our friendly server took our drink order & gave us a chance to look over the menu. There's quite a variety from Asian to Italian to American burgers, sandwiches & salads and a fabulous breakfast menu too. My neighbor got the classic eggs benedict with hash browns while I ordered the special of the day: fish tacos. I chose a bowl of clam chowder as my side. The clam chowder was homemade & delicious. My fish tacos were scrumptious. My neighbor liked his breakfast & I must admit, it looked good. I'll have to order breakfast next time (and there will be a next time). This place is a hidden gem. I don't think many people have discovered it as yet.... but we had 7 people and every plate of food was amazing. Best Clam Chowder we've had in years! The Pizza was superb Fettuccine Alfredo as good as any Italian joint. The Apple walnut salad didn't disappoint The gluten pizza with cauliflower crust was excellent. Excellent brunch spot! The place was busy on a Sunday morning, the servers were on the ball so the wait wasn't too long. The cafe is on the smaller side in a strip mall but thankfully it didn't feel too crowded when seated. We got the breakfast pizza for the table to share, it was delicious, highly recommend. Everyone ordered different entrees - pancakes, eggs, bacon, omelet, tacos and we all raved about our meals. Wow! I will be back to this place soon! Found them by chance while looking for a nearby breakfast spot in West Chester. I walked in and was immediately seated in a Covid-19 prepared environment. It was a nice vibe with people anticipating a great meal. The staff was friendly and checked on us often. The menus was really interesting with all the classics and fun Riffs. I ordered the "Craven" which was a bowl of eggs, hash browns, fried chicken, sausage gravy... and everything else. The price was modest so I ordered two extra eggs as I was super hungry. What I got was a massive bow piled HIGH. I could get through even half of it! It could have easily been a three meal breakfast. Sorry, no pics as dug right in! So, I had a great time, meal and service and can't wait to get back and explore more of the menu. read more

I came here because most other places were packed for breakfast and lucky for me they had a table open. Both times I have tried different things and I will gladly come back. We needed a dog friendly restaurant while traveling, and this fit the bill perfectly with a covered patio, outdoor fan, and TVs if you are into football. I ordered the lemon blueberry ricotta pancakes with fresh blueberries. They were so fluffy, fesh, and sweet they didn't need syrup. My aunt ordered the chicken pizza, and it looked amazing and cheesy. The BLT was stacked with fresh crispy bacon, and it was so big my husband only ate half. The food was so good we didn't think to photograph it until it was almost all gone. Sorry, no pizza pictures, but we were sure to take the leftovers home for another meal. Great value! read more

We were Fireside regulars, sometimes visiting twice in the same week happy to support at locally-owned business in an area overrun by large chain restaurants. After a string of bad meals and service we stayed away. Today we attempted to give it a try again and what a mistake. After being seated, we sat for 45 minutes with no service at all. In that time, the tables around us all had their own frustrations (no syrup, drink refills, check not arriving long after they finished their meal, missing food, etc.). After 45 minutes of zero service - we left and dined elsewhere. We're sensitive to the current hiring challenges and have been extremely patient as establishments work to rebound after the pandemic. When you see 4 servers gathered behind the bar chatting it up when you walk in, many of which have been employed there for a long period of time, you can't point to a lack of help or new hires, it's lack of leadership and no regard for customers. It's sad to see this place decline. Fireside folks, there is a reason your parking lot is empty and hopefully reviews from people who were once regulars will be a catalyst for you to turn it around. read more

Haven't had an omelet that bad since the kids tried to make one 20 years ago. My wife's chicken was dry and tasted like reheated leftovers. None of the food was seasoned properly. I started with the chicken orzo soup which was very 'cozy' feeling and filling. Really hit the taste buds! My main dish was the New Orleans pasta bowl. Fantastic. Our waitress Abby recommended and it was PEFECT. Penne pasta, andouille sausage, onions and peppers with very creamy sauce. No way I could finish it, but I brought home another days meal. My wife had Bart pizza with cauliflower crust. Perfect! Brother n law had a Ruben and potato wedges which he kept insisting was 'best @?"!$&? Ruben I've ever had!" Sis n law had walnut-apple-chicken salad and loved it All servings were very large, easily shareable (but don't do it on 1st visit. Enjoy every last bite yourself 1st time around. I was headed home from visiting family in Middletown and it was my turn t pick our meal that day. I checked the menu and was super excited they offered some good looking breakfast options. Upon arrival, I noticed most tables were dirty if they weren't filled. Very disappointing but we managed to get seated. The menu was placed with the breakfast offerings up first so we both knew it was what we wanted. It took longer than it should have for someone to come and great us, but when our server finally came over, he was quick to let us know that they were no longer serving breakfast. Disappointing. We got a turkey sandwich and patty melt. Both were meh. Not bad but also nothing thrilling. I'm wondering if pizza is really their draw and we just didn't know. Have been visiting Fireside Cafe for several years now, usually at least once a week. We've really tried to give them a chance since the new ownership several months ago. Service has changed dramatically and menu changes have been disappointing. Today, service was the worst we've ever had. Server told us it was her second day and that's she's had no training. Took almost 30 mins to even get her to take our order after she came to the table as she said to "check on you" when we had to ask if we could actually order as she hadn't taken it yet. She said sure, then walked away to go find an order pad. She took our order. Almost 30 mins later, one dish that came was completely wrong and another was so cold that the melted cheese in the omelet had solidified again. When we flagged down the manager, we told him of the cold food. He grabbed the plate and just walked off. Neither he nor the server said anything about it. A replacement for the wrong dish that had come out, finally came out almost 15 mins later. Server continued to falter around the restaurant trying to deliver food and drinks to wrong tables. She was the only one out on the floor. When we got the bill, the cold meal had been taken off, but another item we didn't order was now on the bill. We went to the register and asked for it to be removed. The server didn't know how, so she had to go into the kitchen to get the manager, who we also believe to be the new owner. He came out, was completely rude and apologized for nothing. He was dressed in casual clothes and his shirt was filthy. We also assume that he was doing the cooking. This restaurant used to be one of our favorites, but now, we will never spend another dime here. Too bad that a local business that used to be busy all the time, has been ruined by a new owner. read more

Wife and I ate here for the sixth or seventh time in last few months. Wow--what a great local gem tucked away in a small strip mall on Cin-Day Rd. This is now our go-to breakfast place, now that Perkins and Bob Evans have dropped goetta from their menus (a pity--one of Cincinnati's best and unique products.) Great coffee, too. Serving size is generous here, especially the goetta--largest piece I've ever had. Breakfast potatoes cover almost half the plate. French toast is outstanding. Prices are reasonable for what you get, and dollar-for-dollar hard to beat. Service has always been very friendly and top notch. Sometimes they will have a coupon in one of the local coupon flyers. Scope it out for breakfast, primarily, but they serve lunch and dinner also. read more

This is a good little restaurant for a quick bite here in the neighborhood. I will say there is a few things they need to work on. First is the lack of exhaust in the restaurant as you walk in you are hit with the smell and smoke from the fryer, Grill and pizza oven. There is a haze in the restaurant which also causes your clothes to smell once you leave. I'm not sure if they're turning the exhaust on or if it's not strong enough but it definitely needs to be addressed. One other thing is in the evenings it seems like the restaurant staff is left without management so a lot of the times they seem to be horsing around. Honestly some of the best no frills food for the price in the area. Several dishes have been over salty, however the food is flavorful and delicious. The best chicken Parmesan in the area, huge portions of food! The only downfall here is that they seem to never have enough serving staff members and therefore are usually running a little behind in service. The food was way over cooked and the service was horrible people were getting up to help themselves since the service was awful. It was very tight where we were sitting and messy. We were so hopeful Fireside would provide a good casual dining alternative for my wife and I. Boy, were we disappointed! We visited around 5pm on a Saturday. Not much of a crowd there so we figured service would be pretty good. The service we received was surprisingly slow. We understand the challenges restaurants face due to lack of staff, so that didn't bother us much. Our big disappointment was the food. Everything we ordered was mediocre. I chose pretzels and cheese for an appetizer. My wife took one bite of the round, ball-shaped pretzel nubs and didn't touch any more. They were bland and obviously some pre-packaged frozen nubs that were not very good. The cheese was just a big, bland lump of goo that didn't even taste like cheese. Her entrée of cheesy bread was greasy and limp. It should have had some noticeable crunch to it and bountiful flavor. My meatball sandwich was also poorly executed. It tasted like bland, frozen meatballs and the marinara sauce was very bitter and unimpressive. We were very disappointed with the food at Fireside and will not go back. We will keep searching for another good food option in the Mason/Liberty Twp/West Chester area. read more

Decided to try this place for brunch Sunday, it was excellent! They have a huge menu with options for everyone. I had the sausage biscuits and gravy which came with home fries / fried potatoes. I also had there mimosas which were excellent as well! Our waitress was Brook J. And she was wonderful, quick, helpful and informative about items on the menu. My sister-in-law and I went to fireside for lunch today. We had a long wait for a table and a long wait before someone came over to take our order. But after they explained that they had just bought the restaurant and they were shorthanded, we understood why it took so long for a table. it was great. I had a pizza with pepperoni and sausage. Had a great waitress who was really honest about her recommendations and "avoids" - we trusted her even though she was wearing a Steelers shirt . The homemade chicken pasta soup was outstanding. Served hot and it had great flavor. Friends ordered Shrimp & Grits and California omelette. The omelette was huge and stuffed with goodies. He also had pancakes - the shortstack was 2 plate sized fluffy pancakes - he enjoyed it all! The Shrimp & Grits was also a big serving - shrimp were cooked perfectly and "gravy" very flavorful.
