Walked into this bar to kill some time and was immediately met with sexist and degrading comments by both the bartender and 2 male patrons at the bar. I had asked to use a phone charger, and was told "oh, there's one at my house if you want to come over" and "let me take you to dinner and I'll get you one" I ended up staying and bought a beer because I desperately needed to charge my phone. Two women came in a bit after and I overheard the bartender say if they "gave him a pretty smile" he'd make them the right drink. Seriously. What year is it. This shit is not ok. Probably one of my new favorite bars for this area. Met with a friend here and was pleasantly surprised to find that this is a dog friendly bar. Although I didn't bring my pup, I'd totally bring her next time. They have lots of seating inside and I really like the dim lighting. Service was really friendly and affordable. Everyone inside was also super friendly and my friends dog made lots of other doggy friends on our Friday night adventure. I loved that this place doesn't get too crowded like many bars do for Friday night. I would totally come here again and have always walked by but never thought about going inside. Great bar on Irving street in the inner sunset neighborhood. They have an amazing outdoor area right now. We came at around 3 in the afternoon on a Saturday and there was no wait to get a table. Bartenders and staff were super friendly and accommodating. The drinks were poured strong and definitely reasonably priced. Will definitely be back again soon! read more

Worst bar ever... Very in San Francisco.. It feels like a GOP meeting wanna be punk rock but not vibe. I would never ever go here. People working here think they are better then everyone. I have a little crush on Irving Street. It's not just the plethora of well-priced eating and drinking establishments but the whole package that comes with it: it feels like a real community of normal working people going about their lives, consuming food and knocking back a few. In fact, it feels like the opposite of where the young tech community goes to spend their riches and I mean that in the best way possible. Last time I drank on Irving I learned that the Blackthorn allows dogs in before 7 p.m. It was after 7 p.m. and my dog needed a drink so I sidled up to inquire whether she could come in and sit on the back patio. Rules are rules though so the answer was no, prompting my next question: Do you know anyplace that does allow dogs? Enter Fireside Bar where dogs are welcome though not atop the bar or tables. Fireside is less of a packed scene than Blackthorn. It's smaller and a bit trashier. There is a fireplace but I can't say it was the centerpiece of the place. That title seemed to be reserved for the big screen displaying the Warriors playoff game 3 and several smaller screens displaying the same. If you watched the game you know that it was one for the ages and it may have contributed to the good feeling I left the Fireside with. Or that good feeling might've been a result of all the nice regulars I met as a result of having my dog with me. Then again, perhaps it was the fact that the folks beside me introduced themselves to me, not my dog, and we wound up having a really nice conversation. All of this and then it was time to go. When it comes to "good" neighborhood bars, there's a handful of traits I look for: - Welcoming feel - Friendly bartenders - Neighborhood locals in the crowd (or else it's not a neighborhood joint) - And, most importantly...good, cheap drinks Fortunately for Fireside, they hit on all of the above. Walking in, it almost feels like you're entering someone's living room rather than a bar. They have couches right by the fireplace opposite the bar, TV's hanging in the corners, and a digital jukebox on the back wall offering a random variety of songs. Not so fortunately though, the place is pretty dark. I understand it's a bar that's going for the "by the fire side" theme, but it was pretty hard to see the bottles of beer and alcohol on the wall. Also, seating is scarce if you don't show up early enough - even though the bar wasn't packed when we left, every available chair and table was taken. Then again, what do you expect when you have that many people hanging out inside someone's living room? I mean, bar? Even though Yancy's will always be my favorite bar (especially around 9th Ave), Fireside is a pretty awesome alternative to grab some drinks with friends. Stopped by here with a few friends on a Saturday night. It wasn't packed at all and we were quickly able to grab seats near the fireplace. They had a great selection on alcohol including Distillery 209, which is my poison of choice ;). The bartender was attentive and the drinks were very fairly priced; i.e. $6/drink. It's a great place to bring a date after dinner. The place is darkly lit and the fireplace adds a great touch. The place can be a bit loud when you add the crowd talking with the music, but in the end my group was able to have a great time just sitting around and catching up. If you're looking for a casual place to hang out and avoid the weekend crowds, this might be the place! My friends and I ended up at the Fireside Bar last night after some yummy eats at San Tung. It is a cozy lil bar that, yes, has a fire inside. I liked it cause it wasn't crazy busy which meant it had chairs available for our party and a short wait for drinks. THE WISHING WELL is what is used to be called back a few years ago, Mario worked there and Larry owned it. Great place - definitely more Dive style, but Fireside has cleaned up and gotten modern. A lot of the same regulars show up - a good regular crowd, sharper than the average regulars. The bartenders are cool, reasonable drink prices, and a stepped up atmosphere - a lot nicer than back in the day. It feels warm on cool nights with the fireplace, and a good place to kick back and chill. read more

I've probably ended up at Fireside on a weekend night more than any other bar. It's chill and cozy--it's kind of like an oasis of calm at 1am after a night at bars with more of a "scene." So there have been a few incidents here that would have turned me off of another bar but I like the Fireside so much I keep coming back. Like this one time, some creepy guy wouldn't leave me alone. Really, this guy made my skin crawl. And then the bartender asked him to move to the other side of the bar--he's the best bartender ever! Great low-key non-crowded joint to hang out with some friends. Great bar staff, nice space, cheap drinks, and the fireplace is nice on cold nights (though don't sit too close or you leave this bar medium-well.) Fireside Bar was fun on Cinco De Mayo because they had promoters from a tequila company who gave out free shots, but it is not somewhere I would come back to on a regular day. Some of the drinks were great and unique, but others did not taste good. The service was also not great because we felt like we were waiting a long time for everything. I'm not sure if that's because my friends and I are impatient or if they were actually slow, but that is how we felt that day. The area that surrounds Fireside Bar is really chill. What a chill bar. Friendly staff, great decor, lots of drinks. What's not to like. It's a regulars spot, but you can bring food into this bar. Thats great because there is a ton of food around. (Just ask the staff first). It was great enjoying a sandwich while i drank a strawberry lime cider. Gimme a break, go back to the Mission. The name of it is "Fireside Bar" not "Another generic lounge with all the same looking people". Sorry their flatulence offended your ears. I appreciate that kind of laid back style. They were just as carefree when I was there. The bar had a great feel, noone under 30, a nice mix of people, good seating, beautiful fireplace. Wide variety of music. This place is perfect. Nothing wrong. Will recommend to my friends, and will come back again. I hope the same awesome dog is there next time I come. He was adorable. read more

They are so delicious, fast and courteous! I got the bouillabaisse and husband got the rib eye. Everything was cooked perfectly! Bouillabaisse can be difficult to get right (usually the seafood is rubbery). Cocktails were well crafted. They happened to be having negroni festival/appreciation while we were there and had a long list of specialized unique twists on the classic cocktail. They had the bartenders create their own versions people choose from. I got some grapefruit one, it was so good. Side note, drinks are strong. Ideal place for cocktails and drinks. The bartender was VERY largess in serving our drinks with alcohol. He would preface a warning before serving us. He asked me twice if I was driving home and then told me I was going to be drunk. I said, "I have had a long island iced tea before". I didnt know if it were because he thought I had never had a drink before or if this place was distinguished. However, after leaving there I am certain it was because he knew they are very potent.
