Checked out this cool Inner Sunset bar. It's only a few blocks from Golden Gate Park. Mucky Duck is good for drinks after long walks. For sure it was nice to have a sit and relax after a day of going around. The prices are pretty affordable for around here. A pretty good amount of space inside. It's a sports bar with plenty of TVs. There's a lot of games to watch. Good drink prices. It's about $8 for basic cocktails, which is pretty okay for around these parts it seems. As for the food, not really much. There's chips for $1 or so. But there's plenty of restaurants around. They may let people bring in stuff. Good location. It's only a few blocks to get to Golden Gate Park. Terrible experience from start to finish. Came in with a big group of friends and the atmosphere of the place was immediately unwelcoming. Bartender lady gave us immediate stink eye and immediately proceeded to tell us that if we weren't ordering anything we had to wait outside for our friends that DID order drinks. Place wasn't even busy and had plenty of room for other people to sit. Friends had to chug their drinks so we could move on to a more welcoming place. I recommend skipping this place and going to The Temple Bar that is not too far from this place. read more

This bar is one of the coolest bar ever. It's my first time here and I usually go to the Yancy Saloon all the drinks are beer are like $6.00 and more but here are the Mucky Duck I don't know how the prices on the drinks are. But it's way better then the other bars out there in SF. My favorite beer is the Heineken. I always get that beer every time I go to the bars. And it's a good spot to watch the games on tv and listening to some good music. My back gave out about 2 min before the 44 bus stopped in front of the Muck. Saves this old dude some steep hills. Around 3 PM on a weekday. I needed to sit a second and grabbed one of the chairs in front. My buns had barely hit the seat when d**khead comes flying out to tell me I had to buy a drink if I wanted to sit there. I weakly pointed at the bus stop and said: Just need a minute. He shouted: You still have a buy a drink to sit here! I said: I will NEVER buy a another drink at your crap bar. Coming from Ocean Beach, Mucky Duck is the perfect bar to chill along the N Muni line. I met some friends with my husky puppy. The bartender was super chill but also cautious about getting in trouble from his boss about the dog. He was welcoming, though. This is your typical San Francisco dive bar, complete with TVs, juke box, and regulars. Decent selection of beers. Didn't pay much attention to that. Just the fact that there was plenty of space to hang out with my friends and puppy. Being close to Muni, I'd come here again. read more

Essentially the anchor of the neighborhood. Great folks on both sides of the bar, awesome beer selection, and a fun and laid back atmosphere. I live a couple of blocks away and while there are several other bars in the neighborhood, this is always my choice when I want a few drinks in the neighborhood. Also, you can order food next door at Howard's and they'll bring it over for you if you'd like. Oh, and a little historical trivia: This location has been a bar since at least 1945. Originally Ed & Bert's Tavern, then The 9th Inning in 1955 (which you can still see the sign from if you walk to the back of the bar, face the front, and look up), and then finally The Mucky Duck in 1996. read more

Solid place to go to after work on a weeknight. My bud and I were exhausted after working a long day. We decided to snag a brew and wind down our day. He said that he's been here before and it is a good spot to hangout. I concur. This place is on the older side, it is a neighborhood bar and I like the older feel. Upon walking in this place is divey; great vibe and a place I would want to become a regular, if I lived in the area. People are just watching TV, different sports are playing. There is only one bartender but she is not overwhelmed, there is enough people in the bar but not crowded. There are seats that go around the bar (as usual) and there are seats there are tables that fit four people where you can sit on your own. The brews on tap are all we drank. I had the death and taxes and my bud had the Gose sour. Solid brews that aren't your normal choices. I always appreciate places trying different styles of beers that aren't your standard beers on tap. As far as drink, I have no idea of their mixology. The food pretty limited. There isn't a menu for it, rather its stricly bar snacks. You can purchase you own chips, but there is a popcorn stand that people can get complimentary. Just ask the bartender for a bowl and you can grab your own as many times as you want. There are condiments to add to it - more cheese, garilic and spice to your own liking. In the back there is one pool table. Old school billards where you have to ask the bartender for change. My only qualm is that there was a hair in my second beer, it happens. I gotta say that there is something quite comforting and reassuring about Mucky Duck. There's no pretension here. Their bartenders are low-key, quick, and just nice people. The crowd is an interesting mixture of regulars and people who look like they just wandered in. But there is always something familiar about this place. It's the kind of place that you can trudge on down to in your pajamas and no one will care. It's the kind of place that you can sit at the bar in tears and some kind soul will drunkenly try to comfort you (I wasn't the one crying - but I did witness this exchange). The Giants game was on and this was before they made it to the World Series, so the excitement was in the air! Not the greatest place, except for this one drink called the eye dropper. It makes you do very crazy things (so don't bring any friends, you'll regret it the next morning). One of the great pubs nearby my house. This one has a distinct neighborhood feel and not many UCSF students go to this one so it doesn't feel collegiate. What is great is that this place is located in a great commercial area in the Inner Sunset so if you don't particularly like this place, you can walk across the street or down the block and find another one. I'm sure you'll like this place though. It's easy to get the bartender's attention (though, once you get your first drink at the bar, you should address him by his name, and not as "hey"). Been coming here on and off for years. No relation to the Mucky Duck in Monterey, but I always think of the other whenever I'm at either. Popped in here yesterday (late Saturday) afternoon and wow, I don't know who picked those selections, but they had some jammin' rockin' selections playing on the jukebox. The bartender, Lisa, was super sweet and cool and I was surprised to hear that she is the daughter of a bartender at one of my favorite bards in North Beach. Struck up a great conversation about cars with a patron who is a mechanic and a certified car nut and also shot some great pool in the back as well. Great little area back there to shoot pool and the table was pretty good although the bumpers could have used some work. Left here to go to a lesser bar in the outer avenues afterwards and truly regretted it when I got there. So lame, but I know the owner and regulars there, so I won't name it here. I always have a great time at this neighborhood pub. So we walk in tonight after dinner at Dragonfly. Bar is crowded, but not so packed that you can't move. "So what is that beer like, 'Death & Taxes'?" I ask the cute bartender. "Dark and bitter" he says with a smile. "Wow, kind of like me!" I say. "That sounds perfect. And...well, I'm pretty sure I can count on it." Bartender chuckles. I'm sure he's heard that a million times, but he still makes me feel like I'm funny. My friend orders a Harvey Wallbanger, and then spills it all over the bar. No one gets mad and another one appears right away. Our men-folk order beer and get locked into something on TV. Mmmm, I like it, just like home but with slightly more alcohol. We play darts. Surprisingly, no one gets hurt. A group of Bag-piping Irishmen come in an play some great tunes, and the entire bar cheers. The almost-half of me that is Scottish feels the lure of the Highlands. We buy raffle tickets. I sit by the sign that says "No Slapping Zone". Can I get one of those for my house? "Add It Up" comes on the Jukebox and our heads bounce as we sing along to every word. It's one of those nights where everything is funny and as we walk out the door full and happy, and disappear into the dense fog, I think, "We should really go to that bar more often". read more

I hesitate to give the MD three stars because I really did have fun here after the after party for B2B. However, it's very likely that my experience and enjoyment were based on my gross intoxication and spectacular partners in crime. MD is a dark little dive bar with musty patrons, a decent jukebox, and plenty of room to dance (oh yes I did) with your sloppy drunk girlfriends, should you be so inclined. Btw- we were the only girls in the bar and the other patrons were the handsy, leering type (not that I can blame them- my friends are pretty hot) but they bought us drinks all night so I'm not complaining. I wouldn't make a special trip over and it's not the kind of place I usually frequent, but it wasn't a bad place to end up after a long day of walking, drinking, and debauchery. read more
