    Left board at Yancy's. Playable!

Pros: The bartender was really cool and personable. The space is huge and has the atmosphere of a speakeasy. It's in what appears to be a relatively safe neighborhood and there are other bars close by if bar hopping is on your agenda. They do have a variety of beer and I think most people can find something they like. Cons: People mention darts in a lot of reviews. As a league player from another state, when I travel I want to find a place to sling the ole arrows and this place is kind of a consolation prize in that regard. The right board was demolished and not usable as a regulation board. The middle board was off center and not movable. The board on the left was the closest thing to regulation but all in all, these boards need to be replaced. It costs $35 for a basic Unicorn board and $60-$100 for higher priced Unicorn or Winmau boards. And they last a LONG time if you don't leave darts sticking in them for days at a time (and rotate them). Lastly, for me, IPA selection is important and they only had one decent one from what I could tell. See if you can get some Pliny, Elysian Space Dust or even some Stone/Ballast Point IPA's... So yeah, darts doesn't factor in for most people, but it did for me, as did the paltry IPA selection.

Yancy's is opened again! -$1 off drinks before 7pm. Bartender(s) are super cool and know their drinks. We used to come here about once a month back in the early 2000's. Not much as changed. Yancy's is still a great place to grab a drink with friendly staff and clientele.

Great place for a casual beer. Fairly quiet and peaceful. Pretty good selection of beers on tap- about 15. Several TVs and a huge screen in the back that centers over a huge table. It's a great area to catch a game with friends and they even let you bring in your own food (since they don't serve their own- only downside). There are 3 dart boards in the back corner and lot of beautiful glassware light fixtures hanging from the ceiling which top off a nicely presented bar.

I wish I could remember the bartender's name because we had a great conversation, but he was so sweet, welcoming, and treated me like a local/regular. He made me a delicious lemon drop and I went upstairs to one of the tables at the front window to people-watch the street below and catch up on all the many text messages I haven't sent back. It's a quirky, colorful, fun dive bar with 2 levels, the upstairs being kind of a balcony that wraps around the whole area. They don't serve food, but they do accept cards now... I saw in other reviews that it used to be cash only. As the night went on, they dimmed the lights and played upbeat club/dance music with party lights. I still had a good time just chilling, but it would be a fun place to get turned up or dance with friends, too. I'll definitely be back here! It's good San Francisco character and vibes!

The atmosphere, although sometimes loud, is quite chill and inviting. This is also a cool stop to make if you are on a date; especially if you head upstairs to the seating on the mezzanine. So many memories have been made here -- birthdays, celebrations, nights out with friends and family, and plenty of random evenings that turned into some of the best ones. We've also made friendships here that have lasted for years. It's one of those rare neighborhood bars where you can walk in, see familiar faces, bring your dog, grab a drink, and immediately feel at home. I was especially honored to be asked to guest bartend for The Equal Pour, an event celebrating 55 years of women being able to bartend in California. It was such a fun and meaningful day, and San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurie even stopped by to celebrate with everyone. And because the Horseshoe always seems to have a good story attached to it, we were also there when the Budweiser Clydesdales came by to deliver beer -- definitely one of those only-in-San-Francisco neighborhood moments. The staff here has always treated us like family, and that's what keeps us coming back year after year. No pretension, no fuss -- just good people, a great neighborhood atmosphere, dogs welcome, and a place that has been part of our lives for well over a decade. The Horseshoe is a true Marina neighborhood gem, and I hope it stays exactly that for many more years.

Fortunately, we were lucky to stumble across Horseshoe Tavern, as it immediately gave across a welcoming and comfortable vibe. Although there was only one bartender working the bar which was packed with a lot of people watching the Kentucky Derby, the service was incredible and the bartender immediately acknowledged us and took our order. We ended up getting two rounds, and again the bartender was super prompt and attentive with service when we went back inside for round two. Overall, this place is a gem, especially being in the Marina. Down to earth and comforting vibe. Highly recommend if you're looking for a nice watering hole or a place to play pool.

Smooth, balanced, dangerously drinkable. Then came the only financial decision I'm actually proud of that night. Drink: $15. Tip: $5. Twenty bucks. Fair trade for good service. I thanked the bartender, chugged the entire Mai Tai in one glorious pull, nodded like we had just completed a business transaction between professionals, and walked straight back out the door without looking back. No second drink. No lingering. No bad decisions. Just in. Drink. Tip well. Exit. It's less of a bar review and more of a reminder that sometimes the coolest move is knowing exactly when to leave. Unfortunately it took a long time for my order to arrive. This was because the bartender, the only bartender, forgot about our drinks as soon as we ordered. The place is very small, and it was obvious that we were sitting there for a good 10 minutes with no drinks, waiting for our order. I knew the bartender forgot because he served everyone else instead of us. We had to remind him of our order. Also, it's hard to catch a vibe in there because they have the music system where you can pay for whatever song you want to be played. Too many different songs. Just stick to a cool playlist.
