The flu got fixed but the visuals are what I see. He painted my vaulted ceilings and mantle (which is also vaulted) as the issue was that the ceilings had smoke-stains from the flu issue. I had an appointment scheduled for a chimney repair estimate. An hour before the appointment, I got a text message confirmation of the appointment, which was good. I took the day off work and was home anyways, but the technician never showed. I called at the end of the day and they had said the technician had to cancel and leave for the week the night before and that they had left me a voicemail. I received no call, no voicemail, or any communication about the cancellation. I also still received a confirmation text an hour before the appointment. It didn't add up. They said they'd call me back to reschedule the following day, they never did. So I called the next day, they still were unable to reschedule. I gave them another week and a half, and called back, and was told again they could not reschedule. If they didn't want to take the job they should've told me that in the first place, I never seemed to be able to get a straight answer, and now it's almost winter and I'm running out of time to find somebody else and a month of this run around. I am not a disgruntled person who leaves 1 star reviews. I am an honest, hard working person who was robbed by this company. I understand why they have a high rating - I would've given them 5 stars initially, until I realized they were frauds. I paid FS almost $4,000 to address issues identified in my home's inspection report, and it was seemingly done quickly and smoothly. Fast forward 1.5 years later when I'm selling my house, and the inspection report came back with all of the same issues -- proving that the work I paid for had not been done. There is no way I would have known this otherwise, I just put all of my trust in them. When I called FS to rectify this problem, they refused to do the work without charging me $2,800. For work that I had already paid for! I was being told that the CEO was dictating the pricing, yet I couldn't get him on the phone to speak with. I left numerous messages with their offsite coordinators (good luck trying to get in touch with their office - you never will!) and I'm still waiting for my call to be returned, a month later. I am disgusted by the way they run their business (if you can even call it that). Please be careful with who you trust. I urge you not to trust Fireplace Solutions. read more

I had recently renovated a house in Mar Vista with the fireplace being the last part to finish. I contacted a few companies including Fireplace Solutions and ended up choosing them for the job. Reza and Chad from Fireplace Solutions helped restore an old cracked chimney as well as order and size / install custom glass on the fireplace (including some block masonry work). They were excellent, quick, and clean given the amount of work that had to be completed. Also, i did get other quotes from two other companies in town and Fireplace Solutions was competitive as well as tried to solve my fireplace upgrade at a reasonable price with options. I explained what I needed for my gas fireplace then they asked for all my contact info and told me I'd receive a call back from a technician. Many hours later I got a text saying they don't do gas fireplaces. Seems like that could have been stated pretty easily in the first phone call so I could have moved on. The missing star regards management who does not provide their techs with estimates on the spot for required repairs or providing then with simple parts that could be fixed on the spot (in my case all I needed was a spark arrester screen) they advised me that their office would provide a proposal for required fixes. Fireplace Solutions did an AMAZING JOB on my fire pit. The pilot light mechanism was damaged by critters (Possum and raccoons), that roam my backyard in the middle of the night. One of them knocked off a cinder block, in the process! The fire pit was sourced directly to the gas line; with an electronic starter. (Clicker to turn on and off). Initially, I contacted a handyman. He took one look at the pile of parts, and never called me back!! My recommendation to you is, HIRE A PROFESSIONAL for your fireplace and fire pit needs. Fireplace Solutions had my fire pit repaired and working in less than 2 hours! Unfortunately, that fire pit was located at a house in Torrance that I recently sold. Awful experience. I live in a large condo complex (own 2 units) that this team was hired to retrofit. They are either trying to constantly upsell the tenants or they have taken on more they can handle. Communication with these guys is awful. I waited 2 weeks for a simple response via email (after sending multiple times) I would not hire them to do anything. There is a serious sense of snarkiness from the owner. He has a chip on his shoulder that he needs to get rid of if he is going to continue his fathers legacy. Update 6/26 They responded quicker to the reviews than to me directly. Feeling scammed.. Be sure to read all of the reviews! They seem to have a lot of 5 star reviews, but I had a terrible experience with this business and it seems there are quite a few others who have as well. Maybe some of the 5 star reviews are fake. I made an appointment to have them come to my house on 11/2/18. They gave me a four hour window (inconvenient, but seems like a standard in their industry, so no big deal). Anyways, the guy shows up and I show him the chimney and he takes a detailed look and goes ahead and starts cleaning it. After they had already cleaned it, they then decided to tell me that they realized my chimney had severe damage and was in desperate need of repair. I guess they only noticed that after they cleaned it??? So they tell me I still have to pay $160 and I reluctantly agreed. I paid $160 to have them clean a broken chimney. However, this is when things really got bad. After I pay $160, they promised they'd at least send a quote for the repairs. So get this.. I don't hear back until 11/15 (ALMOST 2 WEEKS LATER). And that's only because I emailed them. If I didn't reach out, who knows how long it would have taken to get my quote (which by the way was ludicrously expensive). Overall I feel very robbed by this business and i would suggest that you use another company for your fireplace and/or chimney needs. And to the owner on here responding to reviews (Louis P.). I contacted Fireplace solutions because I purchased a mid century modern home with a huge fireplace and needed it to be inspected. Sadly, they found LOTS wrong with my fireplace, but happily, they were able to provide the solutions to get my fireplace back into good working order. They wore masks as requested and they cleaned up their mess nicely. They were very proud of their work and said that it was the first time they had worked on a fireplace that size so they had needed to order some special parts before they came to repair it. A few weeks after the repair, I noticed that a small piece of the spark gate hardware was defective. So I contacted Fireplace solutions and sent them a picture of the defective hardware. They ordered a replacement and delivered it to me at no charge. I would recommend Fireplace solutions. They are good people and willing to work with you. I am looking forward to cooler weather so we can enjoy our now safe to use fireplace. read more

Warning! Do not use this company! Their business practices are deceptive and they do not complete the work! My MBR fireplace was not working and I had no logs or grate in my LR fireplace so I contracted with this company for over $3,300 in October of 2021 to convert my LR fireplace to "fire on ice" and repair the MBR fireplace. I paid a 10% deposit for them to start work. In December, they converted the LR fireplace. They did a good job with the living room but were unable to convert the MBR fireplace due to it not being the right type. I then paid another $2,200. I was told by the technician (Reza), that I needed an igniter module for the MBR fireplace. A month went by and I heard nothing. I called and they sent out a tech. He was unable to fix it. Another two weeks went by. Same tech comes out. Tries something else. Does not work. Several more weeks later, a different tech comes out. Tells me I need a different part. Ok. Company then charges my credit card the remaining $850 without my authorization claiming the job owe the quote is complete and then sends me another quote for an additional $1,000 in parts to fix the MBR fireplace that was supposed to be fixed as part of the first quote! Awful professionalism. Rude, unorganized, uncommunicative. I was given a timeframe for an evaluation 10-2 on Thursday . I said I have an appointment at 1:30. So if they come after 1:15 I can't let them in. Ok they said. You'll probably be the first one so closer to 10 anyway. Ok great. Cut to the next day. I called at 10:40 and said I havent heard from your technician yet. I reminded them I only had until 1:15. He will be there. Got held up at another job. Ok. I call again at 12:45. They now need to reschedule me. They can't get a hold of the technician I assume. I reschedule for today (Wednesday) 6 days after original appointment. I'm told on the phone he will be here between 8-10. Probably 8 am because they screwed me the first time. 45 minutes later I get a call from the technician saying he's on his way and will be here in 20-30 minutes. WHAT?! They didn't tell the guy I rescheduled?! I tell him the situation. He says call the company to reschedule. Yeah I already did 45 minutes ago. Today. 9 am rolls around and I call the company. I havent heard anything. Is he still coming before 10? We have you down 8-12. That's not what I was told. I was told 8-10. Closer to 8. Well we only give 4 hour windows and you're no different than anybody else. But I was told something else!! And I called you and left a voicemail with these times. I didn't get a voicemail. I checked my phone after and there is NO VOICEMAIL! Which means she's lying or called the wrong number I said that's ok I'll find another company. Horrible. The business advertised on their website, Yelp, and Angie's List that they serviced my area. Denise was great about reaching out to me and responding to emails and text messages - had me send pictures of my fireplace and describe what was needed, so I did. Shortly thereafter, Denise emailed me with, "At this time we do not service your area. Thank you for your consideration. Have a great day." I once again sent Yelp and Angie's List requests - and ironically Denise reached out to me once again, only to tell me she's "not sure who informed [me] [they] were not in [my] service area when [I] actually [am]." Needless to say, my fireplace won't be fixed by Christmas. Quite unfortunate and disappointing. I will reach out to another company and hopefully have more luck. read more

Buyer Beware! The highlights. I called over the Christmas break about my gas fireplace. They scheduled me fairly promptly (+) and told me VERBALLY that a return service call was included in the $249 "evaluation" fee if needed. But then called the morning off to cancel due to bad weather (fine, I get it). But then we were on again with 20 min notice (+)! The guys looked at the fireplace, identified the bad part and left. Days later I get the invoice charging me $$$ for the part (-) and even more $$$$ for returning and installation ( - - - )! I get it; I was a fool for not getting anything in writing. They claimed that it was a "misunderstanding". After some back and forth they decided to give me a small discount and then eventually waive the $$$ return fee! But you know what? At that point I realized that the part markup was about 3X!! In short: 1. GET IN WRITING WHAT THE "EVALUATION" FEE COVERS! No more "misunderstandings" 2. Their parts are marked up pretty darn high! My fireplace and chimney has been a complete mess for years as I always neglected it and did not keep up with routine cleaning and maintenance. I decided to look for a fireplace cleaning company after a dinner party turned into a disaster. I had several guests over on a cold and rainy night, so I thought lighting up the fireplace would be a great idea. I hastily got the fire started and quickly noticed how much debris and build-up had accumulated over the years. In a few minutes, a nasty odor and a large amount of smoke filled the room and I had no idea what to do. My guests and I tried using the fireplace screen to put out the fire, but that just caused more issues. We started filling up our cups with water and throwing it on the fire and the burning embers. Then a minor flood of ash and water started growing in front of the fireplace. Needless to say, I deeply regretted never keeping up with cleaning my fireplace and chimney. The next morning, I was on Yelp searching for the right company to take care of this issue. I am writing this review after several weeks of frustration. I had one of their techs come to my home to repair a gas fireplace. After a year, it stopped working. I have spent the last several months calling them to come back out. Every time I call, the person who answers the phone states that they can't help me because they are "the off site person" and that "I just answer the phones and provide them with the messages, but someone will call you back." I have left numerous messages and no one has called me back yet. I was even told to call the office directly, and was given a number. When I called that number, I was again connected to someone who said "I'm the offsite person." I think this company is a scam. Don't call this company because it is a waste of time. These guys will take your consultation money and then give you the run-around without providing any actual service - or even a legitimate quote. I contacted this company for a new chase cap and chimney shroud. The first guy who showed up to take measurements didn't seem to understand what I was asking for. It was almost as if he was high on something or didn't know anything about chimney shrouds. When the quote arrived, it provided no detail and said "Please reach out to discuss details and various options". Unfortunately, the quote came from a "no reply" email address; and, the phone number just goes to some sort of central office or referral service. They only take messages and will not give out the number to the local office. Meanwhile I continue getting automated notices that I need to accept the quote. Finally, I had to threaten to contest my credit card payment ($199) for the consultation before anyone would actually return my attempts to discuss the quote. When I explained to the sales guy what I actually needed, he didn't seem to know what the next step would be. And, he didn't even seem to know that a technician had already visited to take measurements. He said that measurements needed to be taken again and wanted me to PAY AGAIN for a consultation. After reminding him that I already paid for a consultation, I tried for several weeks to schedule a second technician visit. Then, he decided he already had all the measurements he needed. Several more days passed; and, a different technician shows up WITHOUT ANY NOTICE to take more measurements and photos. Just when I expected some progress, the sales guy says that all the previously discussed shroud designs will not work because the hood on my existing flue is wider than the chimney, leaving no room for clearance between the edge of the existing hood and the new shroud. This is blatantly false as anyone can see that the hood is smaller than the chimney. So, I climbed up and took my own measurements to prove that there was 4 inches of clearance on EACH SIDE of the hood - more than enough room for a shroud. Turns out he had been looking at photos taken with a tape measure held up some distance in front of the hood. Of course it looks bigger at such an angle that does not account for perspective!! He also got the diameter of the existing chimney flue wrong. It's ironic because he had made such a big deal about needing to get the measurements right. After over two months of frustration, I called another company who took accurate measurements and gave me a clear detailed quote immediately with no problems and no run-around. I didn't even have to pay a consultation fee. read more
