I had Pacific Fireside do work for me at the end of last year, and overall, I'm really happy with how everything turned out. We had a strong soot smell coming from our fireplace, likely from years of wood burning by the previous owners. Eli initially recommended a full cleaning along with gas logs and a top-sealing damper. When that didn't fully resolve the issue, he came back out to reassess and suggested installing a full gas insert as the next step. What I really appreciated was that Eli credited us for the previous work (gas logs and damper) and helped us choose an insert that made sense. The only hiccup we experienced was with the third-party vendor supplying the insert, since we initially had to pay them directly and ran into some issues. However, Eli stepped in, handled the situation, and arranged to pay the vendor himself, allowing us to reimburse him instead--which made things much smoother. Fireplace: Majestic Jade 42 in direct vent with smart tv kit for redirected venting - 5 yrs old I had called several places and pacific fireside assured me they could figure out what was wrong with my fireplace as it wouldn't turn on w the remote. The troubleshooting diagnosis visit was $250 with $150 going towards services if you use them to repair the issues. It took about a week for someone to come out. He was very sweet. After 15-20 mins he said the fireplace would need a new control module and they would send me an estimate the next day which happened to be Thanksgiving. And they did except the estimate was $2200!!! I had looked up the cost of the control module for my fireplace online and it cost $209. This fireplace brand new is $3000. I was like ... wow why is the cost so high! Their response was: Hi! Replacing the control module in a fireplace system can sometimes affect other components. Our pricing takes into account not just the cost of the part but also the potential impact on other parts, the technician's expertise and labor, and the value of the warranty for your peace of mind. I asked them to send me an itemized estimate and asked why then I wouldn't just get a new fireplace and got no response. So I called another company the day after Thanksgiving and they sent out a guy who diagnosed the problem as a faulty remote. He happened to have a new one on him and used that to further troubleshoot and found nothing else wrong w the fireplace. He made sure the wiring was correct, the direct venting outside is correct, the venting system under the house was correct, cleaned the fireplace. And all that including the remote was $450!!!!!! And now it works perfectly. I'm not sure what pacific fireside is doing but I can only imagine that after the control module was changed and the fireplace still having the problem of not turning on.. that the $2200 would have continued to skyrocket. read more

We have 3 fireplaces. One is made to be lit by an ignition switch and the other 2 are made to be lit by a remote. None of these were installed by Pacific Fireside. They've probably been in the house for about 7 or 8 years. The percentage of the electric starters working was about 20% of the time. Just super annoying to deal with, especially when the batteries needed to be replaced, etc. Wanted a more reliable solution of just turning the gas on and using a lighter to light the fire. Called and made an appointment to have the 2 fireplaces with electric boxes turned back into regular gas fireplaces...where I just turn the gas key and use a lighter to light it. Daniel arrived on time and went straight to work. His knowledge and workmanship was excellent and he was very respectful and personable. He explained everything to me and let me know the costs upfront, which were very fair. I gave the go-ahead for the work to be done and within an hour and a half, both fireplaces had been completed. I also asked him to take a look at a 3rd fireplace and he was able to repair the needed to be repaired so it would turn on with the wall switch that had been installed by the previous owners.
