The sandwich was simple and delicious. I appreciate how extensive the menu is having a lot of variety especially if you're a family a varying sensibilities. Me personally, I stick to the same thing. Give me pastrami or corned beef. With regards to bang for your buck I gotta give the win to The Hat. Their sandwiches are notably more packed with meat and goodness BUT not to detract from the overall pleasant experience here. Let me share a few things with you all. One this concept is founded by Fireman with the interior like a fire station with boots and hats and jackets displayed throughout the location. For the kids they give them a plastic fire hat. Nice on their part. But the one thing that I personally really like is they give back to First Responders,in providing that they have the right tools to do there job. It's with any job that we may do. As another reviewer said, this sub shop blows away the competition, especially Jersey Mike's. Service was fast, friendly, and caring. We didn't feel like just one more customer in the door; rather that they were glad we were there. Haley was excellent at the counter and with follow up. Sweet person! Bright, colorful, and full of firefighter decorations which is fun for all ages to be surrounded by. Their literature states they were founded by firemen. They offer various promotions via their website, and also raise funds for firefighter-related charities. The Hook & Ladder Light was quite tasty and satisfying given it was under 500 calories. Great sandwiches, but on my last visit, I ordered a combo with BBQ chips and a chocolate chip cookie. When I arrived, the sign said everything was in the bag. You just needed to grab your drink. When I got home, there weren't any chips, and I was missing the chocolate chip cookie. I am not happy that I was missing food, especially with how much things cost these days . Sadly I have to update with a very negative review. My husband and I eat Firehouse Subs very often and we always love them. Yesterday, we ordered online, I think it's eat24 and this Simi location was listed so we ordered and paid. My husband went to pick up our order and it didn't exist. They said they don't use eat24 at that location. My husband showed them his order on his phone so they kindly made the order. No big deal. We appreciated it. A little less than an hour later, I became ill. A little while after that, my husband became ill. Food poisoning sucks! I've dealt with it once before and you know when you have it. Since that was all either of us ate yesterday, it had to have been the food or someone didn't wash their hands after using the restroom. Friends were telling me about the new shop like it was a local start up, not realizing that it is actually a HUGE chain in the east. Having lived in Orlando for a period of time I was excited. I visited on 9/1/2022 and after not eating for a whole entire day, I ordered a sandwich. Halfway through eating my meal, I noticed tiny aluminum shavings in my bread. Now, I don't know where the aluminum shavings came from, but I've worked in the food industry for a bit, and nowhere have I come across a situation where any amount of aluminum flakes could contaminate the entirety of a sandwich. Reminded me of being at the fire station with my dad as a kid. They give kids fire hats to make them feel part of the firehouse experience, which my niece loved! I ordered the Italian. Every time we come here the staff is very welcoming. Today while looking at the menu and seeing the line build up behind me bc of my indecisiveness I asked the cashier what I should I get. He recommended 3 subs and was very patient with me, without making me feel rushed. I ended up getting the hero sub, which has 3 different meats on it with a few add ons. So yummy! The wife and I were on our way to Burbank and always stop at the iron skillet for our mid way rest stop. I've been wanting to try Firehouse for so long and to see that they had put one in the town center really made my day! I'm a sucker for an Italian so of course that was my "go-to" and boy oh boy it did not disappoint! We got lucky cause they had just opened so it was quiet and we had a chance to look at the menu without feeling rushed. My wife didn't want to try anything this time but we made sure to stop again on the way back home the next day. She had gotten the meatball and I tried the brisket, both were dissatisfying. Meatball had a lot of cartilage in it and the brisket wasn't what I was expecting at all! A lot of BBQ sauce but not brisket flavor, the meat was too tender, "I don't know how that's even possible!" lol I know I probably sound dumb but it was more like having the feeling of tuna in your mouth then shredded brisket. The meat was extremely fatty too. Overall- I gave this place a five cause the service was great both times, just wished the hot sauce selection was better explained to me but it's ok.
