    Hook & Ladder

I love that the sandwiches come in small, medium, and large. Another huge plus is the interior. I am obsessed with fire trucks and weiner dogs and they had BOTH! I ordered a small hook and ladder with no onions and it's a solid sandwich. We ordered several so I wish they had labeled the boxes so we didn't have to pick through them. Overall a really good spot for a quick bite! Service is fast and they're really friendly!

This has become my go-to place for sub/hero sandwiches when I'm in the mood. Not going to knock some better-known chains, but this place is so much better than the biggest nationwide franchise. Everything is fresh and you can order various options besides the standard lettuce & tomato. I'm never disappointed by the portions. I have had a couple of issues with the app, but not sure if that was the app itself or an issue with phone service/wifi.

I visited this Firehouse almost every Monday of the week during January-February 2024 when they had a $9 medium sized meatball sub special going on, which was on top of the double points the Firehouse app gives you every Monday anyway. That specific deal is no more, but I still make this location my go-to Firehouse when the app sends me offers, like they did this week with two medium sized smokehouse brisket subs for $16, which is my favorite type of sub at Firehouse. The staff here is good about getting mobile orders done within about 10 minutes of placing an order. I also like its location in the Foothill Ranch plaza across from the Cinemark theater. The interior at Firehouses are mostly all the same, which I consider a good thing, as it fits the vibe they are going for. Will be visiting here again in the future whenever a good deal drops, or on a random Monday to take advantage of that double points offer!

Best deli turkey ever. I realized a medium is a small to me, so fyi. I like the bread, the sauce, and the ingredients. Super delicious & the staff is a delight. This is located in a very large family friendly plaza next to Chipotle with lots and lots of parking. I ordered online for pick up.

Last time I had this was by ordering through Doordash! Today we actually came into the restaurant. It's spacious inside, and you can also seat outside. Ordering was quick and easy. Staff was very friendly and professional. Lots of choices on sandwiches and drinks. Our sandwiches were ready within 10 minutes or so. And they both were full of flavor, delicious, and fresh! You can also order online and pick it up, or just do Doordash. But obviously, it will taste much better dining in!

I got the club on a sub. It was pretty good. The bread was soft which is a big plus. The meat was fresh. What prevented me from giving it five stars was that there was hardly any condiments on it. Maybe they forgot? Idk. Also, the bacon was chewy and stringy. I'd order here again and give it another try.

Firehouse Subs makes a good, solid sandwich. It's nothing spectacular but it'll please your taste buds. I came by for lunch recently. I chose one of the options off their menu board, the Hook and Ladder (smoked turkey breast, honey ham, Monterey Jack cheese, mayo, mustard, lettuce and tomato. I asked for no onion). They offer three sizes and a choice of either white or wheat bread (I went with medium sized on white). The sandwich was ready in five minutes. It would have been quicker if the young guys making it hadn't been distracted by a cute young woman walking by outside that they needed to to go get a better view of. Some customers might have gotten upset by this but I actually was amused. I was those guys many, MANY years ago. The sandwich was fine. The bread was really soft and delicious. The amount of meat was barely adequate and the lettuce was overly plentiful. As I write this I don't recall tasting the cheese and don't see it on my sandwich photo... Whether it was there or not, the sandwich had a great flavor. I enjoyed it but thought it was a bit overpriced for the amount of meat included. The bread to meat ratio was high on the bread side but luckily the bread is quite good (and allows the medium-size to be filling). Definitely a decent option for a chain sub sandwich for anyone who lives or works in Foothill Ranch.

We got there at 8:30 pm, and they were already cleaning up, so we asked if they were still open before we ordered. They were so kind to let us order our sandwiches even though they were cleaning up the kitchen. We love their Dutch crunch bread so much so we bought two loaves to have at home. They made the sandwiches quick and we took ours and ate it in the car. Hubby got the whole Baja Cheesesteak with Dutch crunch bread and the meat was pretty red and the sauce was a bit spicy. He enjoyed his sandwich and his free cookie. I got the Sammie French Dip with Dutch crunch bread and the meat was too red for me. I like my meat cooked a little more, so I decided to wait to cook it more at home. The dip had a horseradish flavor which was too strong for me, so I will probably not eat it. I loved my free cookie! I really liked the Mr Pickle sandwich last time so I will definitely try another cold sandwich next time. I can't wait to make sandwiches with the Dutch bread we got!

I just left but soon found the other two eateries in this shopping center had much longer waits so I came back after about 15 minutes and the line had not moved at all. I decided to be patient and stood in line. Eventually the line moved at a decent pace even if on the slow side. The two gentlemen doing all the prep and waiting on customers were very fastidious and professional. I ordered corned beef on rye which came to my table hot. It was an impressive one inch thick stack of corned beef. The only downsides to this sandwich was the physical size of the rye bread which was very small so the thick stack of corned beef rapidly tapered off to a minimum. The other downside was that the corned beef was much more chewy than what I like. It was thinly sliced to try to account for this imperfection but failed. Unless you have very sharp incisors, when you bite in, a large amount of meat comes dragging out. I really don't care for that, never have, never will. I was expecting the beef to have a bit more brine to the taste as well as a bit more cooked, but it was decent and I did indeed eat it all. The rye bread, while tiny was excellent with great flavor. I think overall it is not an $18 sandwich. The fries are awesome and you get a lot of them. They use large potatoes when cutting so some of the fries are 8 inches long. Not at all greasy or oily, very nice. Upon returning on another day, the wait time was well over 30 minutes. You will have to decide if the food is worth it. Today I tried the Rueben. It was very good. The corned beef today was tender and moist. The sour kraut was excellent, tasted home made but could have been out of a jar, I don't know. The rye bread is the same tiny size as used on the corned beef Sammy, making for an expensive sandwich. The amount of meat makes up for it a bit, for lunch it is a good portion. No fries today, the "Machine" is broken. The bag of chips was ok but not a perfect substitute. The gelato bar was totally meh. Almost no flavor at all. I'm not too keen on trying a different flavor. Upon opening the wrapper I found the bar covered in freezer ice, like it had been in there for a long time. Yuck. On a third visit I found the brisket on rye to be excellent. Very good flavor and plenty of meat. I tried another gelato bar and found the variety with chocolate had good flavor and not tasteless as the dolce leche was. However, this bar also had freezer frost. On yet another visit I had the pastrami. It was a generous heap of pastrami on the same small rye. I'm getting accustomed to that now. The pastrami was just a bit too fatty for my liking but it was delicious and surprisingly tender. Today's gelato bar will be my last one, I now know they all probably have freezer burn. The texture is altered also, the bars have been thawed and refrozen. Avoid.

I've been here twice. I absolutely think the place is a hidden gem and would love to stop by more…read moreoften however both times Ive stopped in I haven't felt extremely welcomed, let me explain. Once I dropped in with my nephews (3 and 7 at the time) for lunch and enjoyed it however we had an odd experience where one of them wanted a sandwich dry (meaning no condiments) and we were told by the waitress that no alterations were allowed on the menu. That was a year or so ago. Moving on I thought it was strange but didnt think too much of it other than them not liking kids. Yesterday I stopped in solo after a 30 mile canyon ride and asked for a IVL (Latte) to go (in there small defense they did ask if I wanted for there or to go). They made it quickly which was great. It was maybe 9am and there were maybe 3 tables seated in their side outdoor space with maybe 6 cars in the lot, it was not packed at all. I went to walk thru the door to the side outdoor seating just to look around and maybe sit for 5 minutes and was told I wasnt allowed back there as they're 'full service'. My assumption was that meant they wanted to keep the tables open for people who eat there which is fine. So I said no worries and explained I just wanted to look around instead of sit and then was told yet again I couldn't even go through the door nor sit indoors. I was told my only option was to take my coffee out front. It really felt as if I wasnt welcome there at all. It was a very odd experince to be honest. I've worked in customer service for over 20 years myself and all that they had to say to me was 'you can look around and sit for 5 minutes or until we start to get busy'. Instead whoever trains the staff here seems to train that of it's to go then people arent welcome to stay even for 5 minutes. As for the drink itself. Instead of making a latte with an expresso shot it was simply milk with brewed coffee sat atop (very bitter at that). Which was really odd as I could see they had a full expresso machine setup. Not sure if it was intentionally made bad but once again it felt as if I wasnt welcome there. *Updating below in response to the owner/managers response* 1. Regarding the latte with brewed pour over on top I didn't get that information from anyone. That WAS the drink I was served. Ive had maybe 5000 lattes in my life time from about 500 different cafes. Maybe someone pulled a really bad (over extracted shot) but it was 100% like a pour over on top of milk. 2. I never tried to use the emergency side exit/gate. I tried to use the adjoining door way. 3. I completely get the outside is reserved seating only now. That could have been explained friendlier on the spot. The approach of the situation could have been a sure you can take a look but cant sit. Simple. 4. When I went with my nephews it wasnt a question of not having a kids menu it was not allowing the slightest of alterations (no condiments) for kids who are typically picky at a certain age. 5. Ill agree maybe its just not a good alignment.
