The BEST chow mein! Love getting a tray of beef chow mein for parties or half tray for dinner on nights that I don't want to cook. Hunan beef is my favorite entree, followed by the orange chicken. Egg rolls are basic but always good with a little soy sauce. read more

Mr. Wok is one of those hole-in-the-wall, mom & pop, OG joints that has been opened forevs. It's always been one of my go-to quick Chinese dinners ~ because not only is it comfort food, but you can't beat the quality & quantity of the large portion sized item combos here! It totally beats Panda, Pick-up-Stix and all the rest. Mr. Wok is located in an old strip mall, b/w El Toro Rd. & Trabuco Rd. ~ in Lake Forest. It's near a Grocery Outlet, Dollar Tree & Coffee Bean. It's small, quaint and clean. The decor is minimal and there is some seating inside, as the food is served hot & fresh behind the buffet-like counter. Think OG Sam Woo BBQ restaurant style. IYKYK. The owners are super friendly & sweet. My family of 4 always gets 3 x 2-item combos to share (for $10.90/each..you really can't beat that). On this particular night, I happen to be feeling under that weather and craving something soupy, so I also ordered a large hot & sour soup and the fried wonton appetizer (3 count). Everything came out to about $46ish, which is such a deal, considering the amount of food we get. Our fam loves the chow mein (fried) noods here, so that's all we get. It's chewy & flavorful. Add some sriracha and it's bomb! Our typical side items are the beef w/ broccoli (which is really fresh & tender..not salty or overly saucey), hubs loves the chicken w/ black bean sauce (it's healthy protein w/ the veggies), the kiddies love the orange chicken (b/c it's moist and juicy..not overcooked & crunchy like Panda is sometimes), and the bbq pork is one of my favs (super flavorful and moist..like homemade). YUMS! So if you are craving Chinese fast-food that not only satisfies, but in this day and age comes w/ generous portions at affordable prices, then give Mr. Wok a try. RxFoodie recommend!!! read more

I've been a Mr. Wok fan for decades! Always the best tasting and freshest Chinese takeout in the area. Vegetables are always fresh and crisp, bbq pork is so tasty and juicy, and the spicy dishes have just the right amount of heat. Dad loves broccoli beef, and the beef here is tender with big pieces of broccoli. Blows panda out of the water with portion sizes and flavor. read more

The food was good and very affordable, the ladies were very pleasant and the place was very clean and bright. The soup hot and spicy was a hit with my wife and me.. Parking was easy and all around easy to get in and out. I would recommend it the only thing they need is all white meat chicken in something.I like dark wife likes all white meat. Service was quick and patient. Went there because of the yelp ratings. Good choice. read more

Really good I had the orange chicken and bbq pork with noodles. They were really friendly in the front too and it was clean inside.

My experience at eating at Mr. Wok. First impression, the place is clean. I feel that I was the first customer that day and it had been freshly cleaned before opening. Atmosphere: 4 Stars. For what it was, it was clean. The mirrors on the wall visually created the idea of more space. The food looked fresh. Security was good. Service: 4 Stars the asian attendant was competent. I feel that her English language skills were a work in progress but it was functional. Quality: 3 Stars. It is cheap chinese food. I came there for I came there for it. I prefer the rice to the noodles but to each their own. The food was FRESH. A bit oily in its textures. I was neither disappointed or impressed, except for the freshness of it all. Value: 4 Stars. I felt that the dollar per calorie ratio was good. I paid $10.34 for a one item meal (according to their menu) that filled me up and left me with a small cup of leftovers. It was carbs and oil. The menu has more options on it for those who desire a great amount of protein. I feel that I will return at least once more to try their chicken and rice bowl. read more

Mr Wok - Delicious combo - Chinese Near Me - Lake Forest, California

I can't believe I didn't die from eating this food. The beef was like horse meat. Super tough and I think even alittle green. Chicken was undercooked. Noodles were frozen solid and hard to chew. Workers were nice which is probably the best part but the product they're serving should be illegal for the public to consume. Please don't come here. Go to Panda Express down the road read more

Food was mediocre. It's not to die for but will fill you up. You pay for what you get type of thing. Would I come back? Maybe.

Couldn't wait to eat before taking a picture! SO GOOD! I've been looking for a place like this, fast casual, good portions, excellent customer service, even better price! WOW you've got a new customer! Food is delicious too. Hot and fresh! read more

Mr Wok - Wings, tangerine beef, orange chicken - Chinese Near Me - Lake Forest, California

This place has the best BBQ pork and shrimp fried rice. I used to work in the area but not anymore so sad I only come Here for Chinese food when I'm in the area as the food is good for the prices. read more

Just like a private Panda Express. Fast Service. Employees are friendly, attentive, patient and helpful. Very generous and flavorful servings. I had 3 item combo $12.10 with fried rice and lo mein, Hunan Beef, Orange Chicken and Tangerine Beef. Actually the food was good. Tangerine Beef was bland though. Very clean and welcoming dining room with light music playing. Will be back. read more

Mr Wok - Special. - Chinese Near Me - Lake Forest, California

No flavor, very bland. Chicken was dry and tough. They give a large quantity but I'd rather have quality over quantity.

Walked in and saw three "grumpy cats", one using a cell phone. No one looked up.! Then the man that helped me couldn't answer my question. He didn't speak any English. But they looked like they were angry at me for being in their country and not having the courtesy to learn their language. So I paid for my order, and tipped the gentleman five dollars. Take my advice, read the to go bag that's all the thanks you'll get, and then get the hell out of there. PS, the food was absolutely horrible. But the service was even worse. It matched the cheap furniture and tile floor The fortune cookie should've said "you will crave different food in the future" read more

I was visiting another business in the same center as Mr. Wok. The aroma of the food being cooked was amazing, and I was hungry too. I had to try them out. They are set up inside kinda like Panda Express. I ordered a 2 item entree. The Orange Chicken was good, lots of broccoli in the Beef and Broccoli. I got 1/2 fried rice and 1/2 noodles. They are very generous with their portions. The fried rice and egg flower soup I tried were a bit too salty for me and why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. I hope they cut back on the salt. I can always add salt if I need too. The noodles were my favorite. I'm definitely going back for more. They were very friendly and welcoming. I'm glad I found them. read more

The fellas wanted some Chinese food after workout / rolling in the park. Wasn't too keen on it but hungry nonetheless. I got their mini bowl for $5 orange chicken and noodles. Simply put, it hit the spot and the amount given as well as the typical quality of a Chinese express type of restaurant, checked the boxes for me to leave content and enough too hold me off until my next meal. Like I said the quality is what you expect, so nothing crazy good, just good enough to not warrant to not go back. Service was good and quick. The inside well kept and clean. Was happy with what I got. read more

Mr Wok - Quick mini bowl for here - Chinese Near Me - Lake Forest, California

The quality of food they used too is not the same as like before the pork bbq is dry and the chicken is dry the fried rice is also not as good as before. Maybe the management has changed.. the place is okay. read more

The food here was just ok. Food is too expensive right now to be wasting money on a mediocre meal. If you want Chinese and it's close by, I would recommend it, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back there read more

I really like this place, big food portions. Orange chicken is excellent. They are quick to make quart and pint size orders. It's your typical fast food dining area with a few tables. Order the larger size to go and get a free noodle or rice. Other wise the combination plates are a good value as well. read more

I've been coming here A long time and I still think the food is good but has diminished in quality over the years. The only thing making me come back is the fried noodles they are delicious. I don't recommend the orange chicken because before it used to be crunchy and juicy but now it's stale and drowned in sauce with 2/3 of the chicken pieces being breading. Depending when you go, sometimes the BBQ pork is juicy but most of the time its stale and dry. It's sad to see this places quality go down and I wish they would do something about it read more

Reasonable prices. Tasty food. Generous portions. Good variety of entrees. Friendly servers.

Good lord! If anyone gives this more than three stars they may need to see a doctor to have their taste buds checked out! I've known the actual Mr.Wok since the Kmart days and they're serving the same food. It's kind of nostalgic and that's why I gave them three stars. The bbq pork still has that neon red glow that brings me back to the day's of roller blading down El Toro road. If you're looking to stuff yourself on the cheap it's the beezneez! read more

This place has a great selection and it's local. Sometimes the lines can get long, so you may have to wait a little, but it's always worth it. I always get Combo B with orange chicken and broccoli beef--never disappoints. Overall, I definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the Riverside area. read more

We stumbled upon Mr. Wok when we paid a visit to the Coffee Bean. Ever since we moved to the South OC area, the only Chinese food we've found was in a restaurant setting. I miss the walk up Chinese fast food restaurants where I can see the orange chicken and rice steaming up from the hot metal tins....this is Mr. Wok. It's your typical walk in-but this is homey Chinese food. The kind where you say "2 choice with half and half, orange chicken and bbq beef with extra sauce"....and then they over stuff the small styrofoam container....that's my type of place. The chicken was CRISPY too. Not to mention, the family who run this facility are the sweetest. They are always so respectful and kind when we bring our kids in. The restaurant is also well maintained and clean. Perfect for your rainy day dinner. My daughter also gave their egg flower soup five stars! read more

Mr Wok - Chinese Near Me - Lake Forest, California

I could've sworn I left a 5 star review for Mr Wok years ago! This is our go-to Chinese Food spot in this part of Orange County! There are a lot of sketchy spots when you want a mom and pops alternative to Panda Express and Mr Wok is a breath of fresh air. First off, when you walk in, it is EXTREMELY clean inside. They do a great job of making sure it's welcoming. Second, all of the food is always super fresh and delicious. We love their orange chicken, always crispy with big pieces of actual chicken inside (not just all batter). The BBQ pork is juicy, tender and well marinated. The salt & pepper wings are also super tasty. After eating the meals, I never feel gross either! Goes to the level of quality for a great price! If you're looking for top tier (American) Chinese food, this is the spot!!!! read more

support your local business! These guys have such a delicious selection of food, much better than the slop you'll see at Panda Express. 10 out of 10 and the customer service is fantastic. These sorts of small family owned businesses are what keep America alive. read more

Mr. Wok's food looked like it has been out all day. It was gooey and served cold. I hesitated eating it and in the end, I barely did, but my husband liked it. Many people came and left with their take out order. Ambiance= zero. Service- there is a communication problem. read more

The food was exceptionally great specially for the price. You get more for your money compare to other national chains like Panda Express who had become stingy with their food. The best part about this place is they serve bbq pork. Unfortunately I did not order. I will definitely come back for it next time. read more

Food: Ordered the crispy chicken, orange chicken, spicy honey chicken, BBQ chicken (extra $1.50) and broccoli beef. Nothing short of the amazing Chinese takeout you're used to, all delicious. They have 1-3 entrée item combos, which you can choose half-and-half fried noodles and fried rice, or either or. Service: Very pleasant and friendly, greeted with warm smiles. When asked for it to-go, they included utensils, napkins, and condiments without having to request for them. Ambiance: could use a new breath but overall does not take away from the dining experience. Adequate indoor seating. Clean interior. Overall: Similar to Panda Express, but way more generous with the portions with unbeatable prices and friendly service, you would not want to miss. Highly recommend, definitely be coming here again. read more

Mr Wok - two take out containers of food on a table - Chinese Near Me - Lake Forest, California

Service was fast as the food was all ready. We had 3 item combo with noodles, bbq pork, spicy beef, and tangerine beef. All good and as expected for a Chinese fast food. The server took our order with care, separating the third item from the two inside the container. Good deal! We also had the hot and sour soup, large size, which is enough to be shared for 3 people as an appetizer. The place has some seating, but it is for a quick sit down and eat, not to hang out. We ordered to go, and the portion is good for sharing. read more

Saw a few negative reviews on this place but decided to go into this without a biased opinion. First of all this is fast food Chinese style run by an independent owner and not a large franchise. So can hopefully expect better value and lower price point but not lower quality The service is efficient if not friendly. The ambiance is simple and impressively clean...I have been to quite a few mom and pop shops and have never seen one this sparkling. As for the food they give very large portions even if in a smaller food serving container. The friend rice run of the mill, the lo mein noodles were soft as well as satisfying (much more than the P. EXPRESS), the veggies well sauteed, and as for the bbq pork...well some was overcooked and dry and some were more tender. So a little mixed feeling on the main course but overall a solid spot to fix the need and always try to be supportive of the neighborhood vendors. read more

Mr Wok - Two item combination plate - Chinese Near Me - Lake Forest, California

I was really looking forward to trying this place based on reviews -- and was setting myself up to liking it. Service was friendly and helpful; the food appeared attractive, and the servings were generous, but the flavors were disappointingly bland on all the items id ordered. Still searching for a go-to place for Chinese food. read more

This over Panda Express any day. We've been coming here for years & they have been consistent with taste, quality, & serving size. Our favorite is their chicken wings. We've ordered party trays of this for gatherings and it has always been a hit. Their BBQ pork is delish. So many options to pick from all the time. They also have soup here. A 2 item plate is $8 & their 3 item is $10. The serving size is huge here, the styro lid is hanging by a thread. Always great service here. We especially love JACK! His energy is contagious and just very personable. Quite the character too. We will definitely keep coming back... we ate our food too fast, forgot to snap photos. Lol. read more

Super large portions and really tasty. Service is pretty good though they run out a lot and have to wait a minute for fresh batch. Comparable to Panda Express read more

There are many Chinese restaurants around where I live but I choose to go 15 minutes out of my way to this place. I usually get the 6-item family combo. Their orange chicken is one of the best I've had. $5 extra for the BBQ pork but it's worth it. I called my order in and by the time I got there, Anna had it all ready for me and said she even remembered me. Highly recommend! read more

Mr. Wok is one of the few independent Chinese fast food restaurants left in South County when you don't feel like Panda Express but still want that good, old Americanized-Chinese fast food. 2-item combo will set you back $10.60 (pre-tax as of December 2023) which is pretty darn good, considering the amount of food you will get! They don't ridiculously overload the to-go box like some other places but I don't mind; personally, I don't want my entrees mixing and spilling out the container anyway. But you do still get generous portions as they don't scrimp like Panda Express. I'm partial to their chicken wings, orange chicken, teriyaki chicken, and BBQ pork. Service is pleasant, parking is plentiful, and they accept both cash/credit. read more
