Stumbled upon this cute little Thai restaurant in the Rockfield plaza. Our go to pho place in Lake Forest was closed at 8:45pm and we had 30 min to eat to pick up our kid. Upon letting the staff know our time constraints they positively responded and took our order and informed their cooks. Our pad see ewe with off and tom yum noodle soup was delish. The pad see ewe was the best I've ever had. Made to perfection with their chili was perfect. The tom yum came with tofu and other veggies inside with thicker rice noodles. I've been going to Diho Siam in Ladera, MV and Lake forest for years. The Tom Yum Goong (sp?) with shrimp is to die for. It puts me in my happy place. And my team seems pretty pleased with their orders typically of a curry dish. One thing: one day I had door dashed chicken pad Thai and my noodles were white. There was no sauce. I was devastated. Unfortunately, as of today, Diho is no longer our weekly go-to restaurant for Thai food, they just increased the menu prices across the board, we noticed a number of dishes are 25% more expensive, and what we always came for were the lunch specials which are also no longer a good deal, as $14, $15 or $16 for an entree is not really "special", it just brings it to market level pricing along with the other restaurants in this plaza, which I believe are not really worth except for one. We used to overlook Diho's occasional slow service at times, or tofu that went bad and then other times when our order was wrong, we just accepted it because the prices were very reasonable, we didn't expect as much because of the value. That has now changed. With higher prices, I would expect decent service and today was not too great. We waited a while before someone even came to our table with a menu, we had to get our own pepper, had to ask for the crispy noodles- which other tables had and normally just come to the table, my food and my dish was disappointing, less specific veggies than I usually have. This will probably the last time we come to Diho for a while, we will especially miss coming to Diho for a great value, but at these prices, there are now better options with better service and food around Lake Forest. read more

Insane giant menu since Diho Siam seems to have two full sized menus, one for Thai and the other for Chinese cuisine. I had lunch there with a friend and I ordered the drunken noodles with pork. She ordered the sauteed ginger mushroom trio with pork. Both dishes were very good tasting. Pleasantly surprised by the portion size for the noodles. I liked it so much I went back the next day to order takeout. The ginger mushroom trio again, mushroom chicken, red curry with pork, and twice cooked pork. Once again, I was pleased to note the generous portions, this time for the dinner entrees. Standouts were the ginger mushroom trio and twice cooked pork. It's actually interesting that the twice cooked pork tasted nothing like classic twice cooked pork, didn't use the same ingredients such as pork belly or dried bean curd but was a tasty dish nonetheless. Sadly though, the mushroom chicken, which also did not follow the classic recipe, did not taste as good. It really was more of an overcooked veggie chicken stir fry. The red curry was also disappointing, very sweet and not much flavor. So, a hit or miss with half the dishes. The service was very friendly both times. Nice that they give you white rice at no extra charge. Menu states brown rice available for a couple bucks more. Every time I find a solid Thai spot I feel like an angel got its wings! I had a wonderful time at Diho Siam. We got the hors d'oeuvres plates to start to sample some curry potato parcels, spring rolls, satay and crunchy shrimp wontons--all great. They have pretty affordable lunch specials, and I'm all about a good deal! Papaya salad: tasteless. I asked for spicy and there was zero spice. Totally not worth the $12 or so. Pad Thai: I ordered veggie and they gave me chicken. My order was a to go order so of course I was far away and couldn't get the order fixed. Honestly this shopping center has lots of options for food and there is zero reason to go here. Next time I'll try the sushi place or the Vietnamese place. My husband polished off the Pad Thai which I didn't try. But he thoroughly enjoyed it. I had a bite of one of the egg rolls and was also fresh and flavorful. Not overly greasy. My coworkers have honestly been talking about this place for quiteeeee some time now. At least the last year or two haha. And, I've never tried Diho Siam until today. They were raving about the Thai Fried Rice that it was the best fried rice they've ever had. I actually went with the Pad Kra Prao with Pork as my protein option. It was a bit different than what I expected - I thought it would be served with ground pork instead of actual pork slices. But, that wasn't a big deal. Anyways - now I know why they kept raving about this place. My Pad Kra Prao dish - fresh basil flavor and spice in every bite. I ordered the lunch special and finished every last drop of food - because it was that good. It came with a side salad with your choice of dressing (Peanut, Spicy Lime or Creamy Mustard), your choice of rice (Jasmine or Brown) and choice of protein. I went with Jasmine rice and Spicy Lime dressing and oh. my. god. Yeah, it was all super delicious. I want to mention, we placed our order online for pickup and the food was pretty much ready by the time shown on their website after we placed the order. I also like that they send you a text when your food is ready too. The staff were all very friendly and quick to assist. I can't believe in all these years we've lived here, that this is the very first time that we've visited this long-standing restaurant. It's our neighbor who made us aware, stating that he has been coming here since he was a kid! By the interactions, we recognized that some of the other tables had long-time customers. The quaint interior (with beautiful flooring, lighting, wall art, and small vases of fresh flowers at each table) is warm and comfortable. The hard-working ladies serving us were attentive, with a sense of humor. Half on the menu was for Thai cuisine, while the other half (when flipped) offered Chinese cuisine. We ordered 2 entrees off of their Thai Specialties menu: House Special Chicken and Beef with Oyster Sauce (both generous dishes were a very reasonable $15.95) and steamed rice. First of all, we haven't been served such a generous portion of rice (in a covered rice serving bowl, complete with serving spoon) in a long time! Our experiences over the recent years have included only a domed-shaped serving in an individual bowl. Both entrees were truly enjoyed -- such a fabulous mixture of flavors! The chicken was crunchy on the outside, with a tender interior; the beef was flavorful, tender, and the shiitake mushrooms were so tasty! Both dishes were accompanied by delicious sauces and bright green, nicely prepared fresh broccoli. We, too, are instant fans, and already look forward to returning... soon! My Yellow Curry was flavorful and not too spicy. The Pad Thai had a nice peanut flavor, and the Pad Se-iew and Sweet & Sour were both very good. Since we were celebrating a birthday, I brought a bakery cake. The server kindly asked if we needed plates and forks, but I brought those from home. Overall, the service was superb: the food was generous, the staff was pleasant and most accommodating. We lingered after paying the bill, and our server kindly refilled our water glasses and did not rush us to leave. Located in a shopping center, so lots of parking.
