After a busy weekend, no one felt like cooking. We decided to go pick up some subs to bring home. The store was in excellent condition. Every table was spotless. The drink area was well stocked and clean. We put in our order and were asked with each sandwich if it was a combo, and if we would like the side pickle. All were a resounding yes. We grabbed our drinks while we waited. They have a Coca Cola Freestyle machine. The store was not busy. There was one customer ahead of us and one came in behind us. We got our order and headed home. My husband had the Hero, I had the New York Steamer, our son loves the steak & cheese and our daughter had the meatball. All the subs were fresh and hot. Tasty ingredients filled each sandwich. The only detractor and cause for the loss of a star was all the pickles were forgotten. There were none in any of the sandwich containers. We will be back. My wife ordered takeout. When getting home and unpacking dinner for the kids, we didn't have one of our meals. What bothers me, is my wife called and politely told them they forgot our daughter's Mac and cheese and said if they could just have that ready when she went back. To me it's a simple fix, when my wife shows up, just apologize for the inconvenience and offer to comp a Mac and cheese. If they screw up, it's your fault. They made the wrong sandwiches, forgot multiple items, and sent it on its way with door dash. when I called the manager to ask about sending replacements, he said, verbatim, "That's not our problem, you need to call Door Dash." THEY made the wrong sandwiches and places incorrect items in the bag, then knowingly labeled the bag with the correct items and sent it off. So I have no complaints about the food. It was really good and fresh. My issue was with the service. I walked in and wasn't welcomed at all by anyone. There were three people making sandwiches and two or three people in the back. There was one person ahead of me and when she left I moved up closer to the counter. I was standing right in front of these two ladies and they couldn't even acknowledge my existence. It appeared they were more interested in talking with their coworkers rather than providing a welcoming experience. Here we are in April 2021 and once again I have to conclude this sub shop remains number one to us. I generally order the Hook and Ladder which combines turkey and ham on a great bread along with various condiments. Unquestionably the meat portions are huge. It is a thick sandwich and quite tasty. Wish they had a drive through but otherwise this place has the best sub sandwiches in our area. So if you are looking for a great tasting big portioned sub sandwich then check it out! They have a decent app for ordering so you can then just do a pickup to minimize social distancing and they come in cardboard like containers for pickup too. They work great when you need store a large sandwich in the refrigerator. The large is really enough for two meals. Its fascinating to see a business with poor customer service that locks their door before their actual close time with the open signs on. Absolutely fascinating. I ordered a turkey bacon ranch at this location when I got home to open and enjoy my turkey bacon ranch, I only got turkey ranch. I didn't realize I had to unpack my sandwich to make sure it was made correctly before leaving, but that's what I get for assuming. My sandwich was a hot mess, all of everything was on only one side. I probably won't come back because this is a never ending story at this location. Something is always missing or wrong. So I think for the most part, most people find these sandwiches to be pretty delish. I probably hadn't had a firehouse sub in 10 years and the other night when I picked up a couple subs after the first bite I was immediately mad at myself for ordering a small instead of a medium. I would also say fairly priced for a really delicious fresh tasting sub meal. Why not more stars? *I showed up at about 8:15 and the place smelled like bleach. They looked like they were about to close. When I walked out I looked at the hours and it doesn't close until 9. Call me crazy but if a place is going to be open for close to another hour they should probably hold on the chemicals for a few. *Like many of the other reviewers noted, it seems to take a while. I was the only customer in the place, they didn't seem to be making any other delivery orders, and between the three people working there it took them 10-15 minutes to put together two subs. I like firehouse subs in general because they do have really good sandwiches for the most part and I feel like the places are always clean, however one thing that has irritated me with almost all of them is that even when it's so slow it's seemingly still takes 10 to 12 minutes to get your sandwich and this last time I ordered a turkey and roast beef fully involved minus mustard, and I wanted peppers, olives, banana peppers and onions add it to it.they called my order after about 8 to 10 minutes and I had a feeling it was wrong but I want to head and went to the car and proceeded to drive away I was super hungry and started to eat it and noticed there were no onions, no tomatoes, no banana peppers on it at all. My wife and I decided to go and eat at FHS because of the advertisement for the pub steak sandwich and we wanted to try it. We ordered (pub steakand Italian) at 7:20 and they weren't busy but our food took almost 20 minutes. The dining area was very dirty and the soda machine had a soaking wet napkin in the bottom of the drink dispensing tray/drain and as we waited an employee came over and filled her glass and didn't seem to mind the mess. The soda was flat. Our sandwiches arrived semi warm and my pub steak had no crispy onions and really no meat at all. The beer cheese sauce tasted like cheese whiz but not as good. I got to the Firehouse in Lakewood whenever I'm in the area, so I was really excited when I saw they opened this location. And I have to say, they deliver once again! We order for pick up here on a regular basis. The food has always been acceptable (my wife loves the salads). The service has always been kind of spotty - missed orders, etc. But my complaint today is that we just picked up an order and the first thing my wife said is that "they are really chinzy on the salad...much smaller than usual!". Interestingly, my sandwich was exactly the same....missing meat on half the sandwich. Come on, I like bread ok, but I want some meat inside the bread! Follow up: after placing my review, I called and spoke to the manager (JT) and told him what happened. He was very nice, gave a logical explanation of what might have occurred and resolved our issue. We weren't impressed with this location. The floor under and around the fountain drinks has water everywhere. It was starting to run into the hallway. DO NOT GO THERE! If there is a kid with green hair working. He treats you with hate and discus! This is my third time I've had to deal with this kid with a obvious hate for the customers and hate of his job. He needs to be fired or retrained in customer service. I went in on Tuesday the 29th around 3pm. I was greeted by a nice young gentleman with curly hair and a warm smile. Then I as met at the cashier (the green haired kid) with no smile or welcome and a look of hate on his face as I was bothering him. He speaks so fast you can't understand him. I order my sandwich. He rattled of if I wanted anything else and if I wanted a pickle but I could understand him because he spoke so fast. I've dealt with him before so I was prepared to rapid fire my order right back at him. The look of hate on his face with no smile or friendly demeanor at all.
