Middle of the line... I got a deep dish supreme that was good(ish) slightly undercooked and a bit pricey for what we got. Service was crappy. We were there on a friday evening and after spending quite a bit of money on pizza and beer, we were asked to pay the $8 cover charge or we would have to leave. I ate the lunch buffet here today for the first time. The pizza was really good. What i enjoyed about it most was the taste of the sauce, it was a little sweet. I wished there were more pizza options on the buffet. There was not much variety. Price for the buffet and a soda was $10.96, this does not include the tip i left. My husband and I came into this restaurant Saturday night to have a pizza and watch the blackhawks game. We went in and stood next to the "please wait to be seated" sign for about 7-10 minutes. There were 4 other tables eating dinner, and about 6 servers that we could see. After waiting so long, my husband went to the pub side and asked the bartender if the kitchen was open, he said yes. So we decided to seat ourselves. After going through the menus, deciding what we wanted to drink and eat, we waited about another 15 minutes as servers just kept walking by us without even acknowledging that we were there. We were sitting in the middle of the small sized dining room, so they could definitely see us. After waiting so long, my husband finally stood up and (loudly) said "Thats it, we're leaving." A server standing (yes, just standing, not working) fairly close to us just said "oh..." She didn't try to stop us from leaving or even apologize for the wait. She just let us leave. I can't tell you how good or bad the food is,, because I didn't stick around long enough to experience it. I can tell you the young college kids who work here don't really seem to know what their job is and the service is terrible. read more

So, I LOVED the food. The Bosco sticks are literally one of the best things I have ever tasted. But that can't carry a restaurant!!!! SERVICE IS TERRIBLE. They seem to never answer the phones when I am well within the delivery time frame, they close early always, it seems like there is only one server in the whole place, and I am just increasingly upset. It used to be good!!!!! I am sure the owner doesn't even read this or we wouldn't still be having these problems months later. Went there last night because we thought no students so it wont be crazy. the place was not busy since we were there later (8.30pm) and was sit ted quickly. Our waiter came got our drink fast but then service was super slow...........Odrer wings for an app and pizza for dinner and it took for every 20 + minutes and wings came out AFTER pizza...and then when we were ready for the check, waiter was more worried about a big table, who were just drinking and watching the game than his other tables.....Pizza and wings were good but service sucked......... read more

Review based on takeout only! I have no idea what their restaurant is like. So sad I had their pizza for the first time 2 weeks before I'm moving :( Their pizza is SO good!! I mean, it fits my palate for pizza perfectly. My fiance was surprised with how many helpings I had- I am usually pretty conservative when it comes to eating pizza. The sauce is sweeter. It's a thin crust. It's not very greasy. In my opinion it rivals Tobin's- which is another one of my favorites. We ordered delivery and it was here within 15-20 minutes. It was a decent price too. It was so yummy. They accidentally sent us green peppers on our pizza instead of green olive. We called and the second pizza arrived within 15 minutes. They were very apologetic. We stopped here with friends for appetizers & drinks. Great staff. The food was good. Hot wings not overly hot and really not jumbo like menu says, but good. I enjoy the all you can eat lunch buffet and the TV's at each table make dining in for children easier to handle. I have had some issues with there delivery, they are not equipped for a rush. There pizza and gluten free pizza is very flavorful, fresh ingredients, and a sweet sauce. I find their calzones to be less greasy than others I have found in town. PRO'S: Location CON'S: Everything Else! Our party of 10 walked in on a very slow Sunday night. There were only 2 other tables occupied in the restaurant. You'd think a large party check would have been a welcomed event for a new restaurant....apparently not! First, no one greeted my husband as he waited to be greeted/seated. When he finally got a server's attention, she directed him to seat himself. When the rest of us finished parking (another CON that can't be helped by the restaurant) and walked in to the restaurant, we were impressed by the fun decor and pleasant smells. However, that was the end of the pleasantries! After more than 10 minutes of waiting and trying to flag down a server (who clearly was ignoring us because we weren't her section), we got the attention of the owner/manager when he heard us ask the another employee "are there any servers in this restaurant". Instead of apologizing for the lack of attention payed to our table, the manager/owner snapped at us "what's the problem here". When we said explained that we had been sitting for sometime without being greeted, offered drinks or menu's, he rolled his eyes and snapped back "just wait a minute". We were all taken aback by his obvious irritation and lack of apologetic or accommodating attitude. When voiced our shock at his attitude, he sighed, rolled his eyes and proceeded to tell us that he was very tired and had been at the restaurant since 7 in the morning. He continued with his "I've had a bad day and we're a new restaurant schpiel"....still never apologizing for his staff's rudeness and unprofessionalism (see above reviews for better reference). We were still shocked at his eye rolling and snide attitude with us so we got up to leave. Seeing that we weren't going to put money in his pocket, he tried to back pedal and his staff all joined in trying to point fingers at each other such as "it was her station". Still, no apology or offer to accommodate us with basic service such as drinks, a menu, and service with a smile. Our party of 10 left and ended up at our old faithful standby, Rosati's where we had excellent pizza and delightful service. Incidentally, as we were leaving Rosati's our server, Dave, told us he had only been working there 4 days. We commented to him that his knowledge of the menu and his service was exceptional and that Firehouse Pizza should visit Rosati's to see how a good pizza place is run! read more

God, the other reviewers are a cold, cold bunch! This place serves some excellent pizzas- I would not order their pan pizza again, but it was not bad. Humorously, when I asked if the sauce was served on top (a la Giorano's or Lou Malnatis) the server said that they COULD prepare it that way- eek! But whatever, their thin crust pizzas are top notch. Their drink selection is solid. They now have 1$ cans and 3$ pitchers, so I'm sold on this as my go-to space on North Street for that sort of thing. Worst place to eat in Bloomington/Normal. The food is average and overpriced, not to mention you have to wait for sometimes over an hour to get it. Of all the restaurants I've been to, Firehouse stands alone for worst service. You have to pretty much fight for a server to come to you. After they're done flirting with the bartender for about a half an hour, then they just might come to you. Every time I've been there we wait about 15-20 minutes just to order our drinks. This restaurant is only going downhill. The only reason why I give it a star is because of its beer selection on tap. Service sucks, food is average and overpriced, ownership is lousy. Best pizza in Normal! It is a casual restaurant and bar, perfect for serving mostly college students in it's UpTown location. I would encourage ordering a Chicken Alfredo Spinach pizza, large of course, and an Angry Orchard to perfect any night. If that is not your favorite, Firehouse has many options for delicious pizza, pub food, and alcohol. Best beer on tap in UpTown. The atmosphere is great, as well as the service. We went to this place for lunch after a long morning at the Children's Museum with our 2 1/2 year old. They gave us a very dirty high chair for the kid, which they cleaned off after our request. We ordered a large NY style Margherita pizza and were then given two melamine plates, one was visibly dirty. We asked for a replacement as well as an additional plate for our toddler (why do servers ignore children clearly old enough to take part in a meal?) and were given...one more plate. At least it was clean. With the additional plate we were given two sets of silverware (again, not three!) and low and behold...the fork on one had pieces of dried onion stuck to it. This did not bode well for our eating experience. Eventually the plates and cutlery were all squared away and we anxiously awaited our pizza. The TV's were actually a nice touch for our family since it distracted the antsy toddler, but I could see it getting obnoxious if the place was busy. Then arrived the pizza. Let me clarify what was described - Margherita pizza: mozzarella, olive oil, tomatoes, basil. This was what arrived: A pizza loaded with massive amounts of cheese, maybe 1 sliver of tomato per slice, a very light sprinkling of *dried* basil, and the kicker... a ridiculous amount of olive oil poured all over the top. We seriously used about 20 napkins sopping up the mess. As for the taste, it was okay. I'm sure it would have been better had it not been drowned in olive oil. I managed to eat two pieces before feeling a bit sick, but surprisingly our toddler ate a full slice and a half. However, he also eats play-doh, so take that for what it's worth. read more

I've been here a dozen times at least to this location as well as others. (Washington, Morton) The pizza at this location consistent and always good. I work nearby so I like the convenience of the lunch buffet. They also put out a really nice selection of pizzas too. The sauce is on the sweeter side - just a heads up for those who might not like that. (but not nearly as sweet as Grady's) My complaint about this location and the reason for a 3 star rating is the fact that they are always operating with a bare bones staff. I don't know how it is in the evening but every time I have been in for a busy lunch hour there is just one unfortunate waitress or waiter running about like a chicken with it's head cut off trying to take care of everyone in the place at once. This is my favorite Firehouse! Great location and ambiance, but my favorite thing (until recently) was their amazing beer selection! Always several IPA's on tap, sometimes very small batch beer which they fight hard for to get. They have replaced a bunch of their taps with Distihl beers, of which I am not a big fan. I've tried many of their beers and never been impressed, more often, been disappointed. I always find a beer there that I can't get in Peoria, including a recent Stone Coconut IPA that was actually very, very, good. I love Firehouse pizza in general (I worked at the very first one), and I love Peppadews on my pizza; this is the first place I've ever seen use them, and I think it's a great idea! The staff are always super great about taking my order, bringing it out hot, and bringing the check. I know it's a nuance, but they also pour their beer correctly; to the top, with about 1/2 inch of head on top. It's the little things that make my day :) Will be back as often as I can! read more
