Wife sent back her Calabrese chicken sandwich for being cold and bad. That was baffling since we were the only people the kitchen had to cook for. I drive past Firehouse all the time and always assumed it was a chain. It turns out that it's not, but it definitely gives off that vibe and food quality. But it does have ample seating for larger groups and happy hour deals on drinks and appetizers. There is outdoor seating in summer. I came with a group on a Tuesday night, and we were a bit surprised how full it was. The service was slow and someone in my party mentioned the service was usually like this, no matter how crowded it is. The food was decent quality. The Firehouse burger was good, but not particularly special. I would spend the extra dollar to upgrade to fries, as those were quite good. The chicken and caper pasta was tasty. Pizza is another solid option. However, the steak salad was a bit lacking. The steak itself was good, but usually entre salads have a bit more heft to them. If you order that, make sure you eat some appetizers first. read more

This was not good - it is that simple. Upon arriving I saw the parking lot was packed and expected the inside to be full - however the place is surprisingly large which was perfect as I was dining with a group of 7. I was the first in my group to arrive and was promptly sat at a high top table. A waitress came over and we ordered waters for the table before everyone arrived - the waters arrived fast which was great - unfortunately that is where all greatness stopped - at the waters. The rest of my party trickled in - as each person arrived we ordered various drinks (beers/sangria/soda) for ourselves and our waitress Samantha took them as we sat down. I ordered the white Sangria which was only okay, but what I expected for a sports type bar like this - unfortunately, 2 out of the 7 drink orders were wrong - one person received the wrong beer and one friend ordered two drinks (beer/soda) never received either drinks. ~15 minutes passed and we had to call our waitress back to mention that this person had not received either drink. She quickly brought them over but they would have probably never arrived unless we had mentioned it. It was then time to order. The menu has little red diamonds next to some menu items - there was no legend or key at the bottom of the menu explaining what the diamonds meant - so we asked our waitress expecting she could let us know - wrong. She did not know what they meant and said she could go ask a manager - at this point we just wanted to order so we said not to worry - but the point being here that she did not know the menu... Everyone ordered something different - I ordered the Buffalo Chicken Rolls ($10; Chicken, pepperoni, mozzarella, buffalo sauce, bleu cheese dipping sauce) to split with someone and they were actually pretty good - tasted more like a calzone than an egg role, but overall decent! Sadly, that's where decent stopped - for my main meal I ordered the Kale + Goat Cheese Salad ($14; Chicken, shredded kale, blueberries, dried cranberries, almonds, goat cheese, avocado, raspberry vinaigrette) and upon delivery it looked pretty good and for the first few bites it tasted good too, until I started to mix up the salad to spread the dressing throughout and noticed that under a top layer of kale the salad was really just full of Romaine lettuce! This was very surprising as the description of the salad did not include romaine and it was not what I wanted in my salad. Another friend at the table had an issue with his food, and his worse than mine - he ordered the Cowboy burger ($13; Station BBQ sauce, fried onion straws, cheddar, bacon) that came with chips on the side. His chips were SO stale - like not even the "they maybe sat out too long" stale - they were the "I forgot about these chips in the back of my cabinet for the past 8 months" stale! And it didn't stop there - his burger was not edible - it was over cooked, rubbery, flavorless - he ended up calling the waitress over and returning the meal since it was that bad. Surprisingly, Samantha was very understanding and offered to get him another entrée or a side of fries - he opted for the side of fries as someone else at the table had them and we already knew they were edible. His meal was comped which was appreciative - however a manager never came over to discuss the issue which was kind of odd. Before I get to the grand finale here I have to mention the bathrooms - both the men's and women's bathrooms had some issues w/ the stall doors - I had to try 3 stalls in the women's restroom as the locks on the doors were flat out missing parts where you could not lock the door at all. One friend visited the men's bathroom and came back with a similar story where the stall locks were half-heartedly zip-tied to the door to try and create a usable lock. It was confusing to all that for such a big place - and a place opening a brewery (?!) that they would not have working bathroom facilities. But now on to the finale - we called over our waitress to ask for checks (she never stopped over to ask how the food was by the way) and asked how we were each paying - we explained and expected to have everything correct, but all 5 receipts that we received were wrong! Some had the wrong meals, drinks, etc. on them and once telling her (which she also admitted she thought she did them wrong....) she went to fix them, but then when she came back they were wrong again! She had not listened to the corrections we mentioned and we had to get the bills printed a THIRD time! I have never experienced this before. From the drinks, to the lack of menu knowledge, to the food, to the receipts - this was honestly one of my worst dining experiences and I could not believe it was one thing after another! I will most likely not be back to Firehouse Grill and was very disappointed as the other friends I was with had said to not believe the other reviews as they had good experiences here in the past - I am not sure they feel the same way now. read more

I was traveling on business and this place was close to my hotel. Seemed very busy by the volume of cars in the parking lot so I figured it must be good. It was in fact busy however it's a very large building ... I'm assuming an old firehouse. The atmosphere is very "bar and grill" type and very loud. I was by myself so I just sat at the bar. Service was very good and menu was "bar and grill" typical. I ordered the salmon which came with rice and broccoli. The salmon and broccoli were cooked like I prefer them (believe it or not they can be cooked very poorly). The sauce on the salmon was a bit much. Very strong and over powering but luckily not all on the salmon so I could rescue the salmon (pun intended). Glass of mark west Pinot noir was a fair bit pricey and a weak pour . If I could give half stars I would give this place 3 1/2 stars but just can't justify 4 stars. read more

Firehouse Grill is conveniently located, has ample seating and a wide menu. Our latest visit was simply unacceptable. Our appetizer came out in enough time, but no plates were ever provided. The next time we saw food was one entree that took 45 minutes to come. No one could seem to explain where the remaining three entrees were and why other parties in the restaurant were served well in advance of us, despite coming in well after us. The food finally came, taking a full hour to arrive. And when the food arrived one order was wrong and one was not good (Nashville Hot Chicken). The manager at first only offered an "I'm sorry". When it arrived, the first thing I noticed was how greasy the bun was. It was indeed a greasy burger and messy to eat. I had fries with it. They were nothing exceptional. My waitress was the minimum required in cordiality being a server. Certainly not personable. A good waitress will stop by the table to inquire if everything is ok. I was ignored the whole time I ate. When I was finished, no one seemed to notice. I was just about to ask for the check when the waitress saw I was shifting in myseat. I've been both in the setting of a business dinner (approx 20 guests) as well as for a date night Atomsphere: the private room area has an awkward setup kind of a U shape table that makes it too difficult to talk across with a buffet style table with apps on it. The buffet table was fine but the U shape style of the table made it feel like I was shouting across several people when trying to network (its sort of an preinterview recruiting style visit). On the date night I sat in the bar area which was frankly fairly dirty, our table hadn't been wiped and the carpeted floor in the section we were in just seemed old Service: was fine I dont recall anything bad, I wanna say my beer was always refilled if I wanted, and the diet soda was flowing. I dont have anything negative to say about service Food: really really forgettable - I've had a chicken wrap, burger, spinach artichoke dip as well as the potato skin pizza i believe (my boss ordered and I had a piece) and I can't honestly remember any of it - I dont remember anything being egregious but nothing stood out at all - It felt akin to eating at an applebee's/fridays/ruby tuesdays to me Overall: I don't have a strong desire to go back, though I dont feel there was anything inherently that terrible - just overall unimpressed read more

Came in for lunch and was very disappointed. My colleague and I decided to try their famous appetizer, the buffalo chicken rolls. They looked like the southwest egg rolls you get at Chili's and I was excited to taste them. They didn't taste bad, just sort of weird and not what I was expecting at all. They had chicken and pepperoni in them, which is such a strange combination when you think of buffalo chicken. There was hardly any buffalo sauce on them at all, just a little drizzle. I was expecting the chicken to be covered in the sauce. The pepperoni honestly took away from the buffalo chicken taste. I ordered the salmon club for lunch and it was simply mediocre. Maybe I need to come in for dinner instead, but I really don't see myself coming back anytime soon. read more

I am weird, I know, I wanted wings with four different sauces. I warned her beforehand (the server) that I like to mix them. I ordered mild bbq, Thai sweet chile, blue cheese and ranch with NO celery which I joked I hated like a bad mother-in-law. She laughed and wrote it down. My husband ordered a burger with cheese, tomato, mayo, and mustard and stated NO lettuce well done. Our orders arrived, with lettuce on my husbands burger, one side of the burger was well done and the other medium and bloody. He only got to eat half his burger. The only sauce I got correctly was the ranch, and I got that dreaded celery. I don't know if it was the kitchen or the server who screwed up, but when she finally came back after having to flag her down she brought out everything but the blue cheese. I've been to the Firehouse Grill various times with my family. It seems to go downhill with each visit. The service becomes slower and slower. We even began ordering simpler food to make our trips quicker, but the service still slowed when it came to the amount of time it took for our food to come out. This evening I was served burnt empanadas. My father's meal served without a side that was ordered after a long wait for the food. From start to finish this was a disaster. The hostess was really rude and had an awful demeanor. Our friend was playing music on the patio and our family asked for a table of 5 outside. The hostess simply said, "We arent seating people right now." Ive worked in the service industry and have always focused on, instead of what an establishment cannot do, what they can do for a patron. So we put our names down, and went to the bar to get drinks and a quick appetizer to take outside with us. (We were at least allowed to do that) The place seemed so disorganized. There were a lot of open tables, and we waited patiently for our turn for a table. We finally get sat outside, then a table next to us was sat after us. And somehow they get a server before us. We had the same server so it wasnt even like one was available before another. The food. The pretzels and beer cheese was pretty good. I got a side of mac and a side of mashed potatoes. My potatoes were ice cold. My sisters salad came out late, and her chicken was also ice cold. Was never asked if I wanted a refill on my drink. Asked for dessert menu more than once. We have eaten here multiple times because we live in the area and I would say that the pros do not outweigh the cons during our last dine-in experience. 1. It was, like, 82 degrees in there, apparently the AC wasn't working. 2. We called and made reservations in advance for a party of 15 and mentioned there were kids, all three and under. They put us at a high top, with no high chairs when there were a TON of empty low tables available. My one year old had to sit on my lap the whole time to eat while I was eating as well. What a disaster that was. They didn't offer us a low table even after they saw the kids. Amateurs, am I right? 3. The server asked for our food order before even collecting our bev order. 4. Someone at our table asked for mayo for her burger 3 times, she eventually got some. I don't know what the problem was, the place wasn't even crowded. I've seen it crowded, and it wasn't. There was parking. Food was good. Beer selection is good. But, when you have a bad experience overall, does that even matter? I don't write reviews normally, but I had to this time. read more

A particularly non-busy night, sit at the bar, the tender hand you a couple of menus with a"Hi" but not even a glance, you try to get his attention to order but he simply ignores that and walks away to do dishes, tap on the POS screen, then turn away from you and walk on. 2 minutes later still hasn't acknowledged you, not even to take a order. Stopped in on a Friday night at 7, the place is huge so we didn't have to wait for a table for 4 people. Our server was great, very friendly, bringing us several samples of beer. The atmosphere is lively with plenty of TV's to watch sports on. Where this place falls short for me is the food and the bathrooms. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing, I had the soft tacos and the table had the pretzels with beer cheese. Neither were really memorable. The bathrooms were pretty bad. The women's room has 4 stalls, one was out of order, another doesn't lock. There are two soap dispensers and one was out of order. This is a great place to hang out after work. I've never had an issue with food. It's pretty good for a bar and the menu is somewhat expansive. Personally, I feel the prices are pretty reasonable! Lots of indoor and outdoor seating and the beer menu is above average. Service has never been an issue here in my experience. I'll continue to use this place as a go to happy hour spot. read more

Took almost 20 min for a server to even come to my table...and only after I went back up front to the hostess to inquire. Then the food comes before my drink...and the food tastes terrible. Ordered lemon caper chicken but there was no lemon, the chicken was shredded overly salted dark meat chicken. Had a piece if garlic bread on the side and it was soggy and covered in thick unmelted cheese. Took 15min to even get the check. It was definitely not worth it at any price much less $17. Visited today for a small social gathering. My expectation were not particularly high and a decent meal and sercice l would have been just fine. Alas, that was too much to ask. I ordered red zinfandel. The drink itself was enjoyable until I got to 80 % done. I happen to look at the remaining drink and saw what looked like white hair. I don't have white hair, so I asked my friend if she sees what I see. Hoping against hope, I might be seeing things. She confirmed it is white hair. Then we wondered if it's her hair. Unlikely, as she has longer hair and never held the glass. There was no way this mystery was to be solved, and I am not going to blame restaurant, just for the sake of it. However, my friend showed it to the waiter and asked him what he makes of it. This is where it went from 3 star to 0 star, as he just said, Sorry and offered nothing else. Wedge salad is a 1/8 th of a small head. Asked for a balsamic on it and got no blue cheese. Was told only came on it if I order blue cheese dressing. They have an incredible selection of local - MadTree, Rhinegeist, Christian Moerlein, Moerlein and regional - Great Lakes, Warped Wing, Three Floyds craft beers on tap. I've been to this restaurant many times over the years and always thought of it as my "go to" when I'm in town. Not anymore. Went there last night to place a carryout order at the bar. I pointed to the salmon entree and said I'd like the salmon. When it comes out, the order is the salmon club. I advise the bartender and the order is sent back. When it comes back as the entree with the proper sides, it is a very small piece of fish. I'm pretty sure they just took the salmon off the sandwich and put it in the box with the sides due to the portion size. I complain to the bartender about the portion for a $24 entree, and he just smiles, says "sorry," and turns his back and walks off. I won't be back. read more

We hit this place all the time for work lunches. I always go with the Flamethrower burger, which never disappoints but I've honestly never had a bad thing on the menu. My only real complaint is that their happy hour is not the greatest, especially considering the competition in the area. They could definitely offer better deals on both the food and drinks considering the volume that they do - which can be huge during peak times. I joined a few old friends from my men's league hockey team at the Firehouse Grill for dinner and drinks after a recent game. You may remember the building as the former home of the Watson Bros. Brewery. The building itself is a massive structure just off Glendale Milford Road. It is pretty hard to miss, especially with the full size fire engine parked out front. We originally planned to eat on the spacious outdoor patio, but after finding that the restaurant was pretty quiet (7:30 P.M. on a Sunday) we decided to grab some seats at the bar. Here I was pleasantly surprised by the draft beer selection. Stone Enjoy By IPA and the newly opened MadTree Brewing's Gnarly Brown were just a couple of the more than two dozen offerings. For dinner I ordered the Fire House Wrap with jalapeño cheddar tortilla, Cajun chicken, caramelized onion, chipotle mayonnaise, Monterey Jack, shredded iceberg lettuce, and diced tomato ($8.99). I added sweet potato $1 more. The wrap was packed full of deliciousness and the sweet potato fries were equally as tasty. The Firehouse Grill easily exceeded my expectations. I wouldn't go too far out of my way for the food itself, but combined with their great selection of beers, this is a very solid option for the northeast suburbs. read more

The first time I ate here a few weeks ago, it was a moderate experience with slow lunchtime service despite few patrons dining. We noticed a thick coating of dust in the window sill by our booth not too far from the entrance, and I was surprised because most quality places are particular about keeping surfaces dust-free. We overlooked this, and planned to return because I had ordered a BBQ chicken pizza on Gluten Free crust, and it was one of the best GF pizzas I've had from a restaurant. We returned last night, and I have to say the service was good, but everything else (well, the salad was okay) was a disappointment. My kids ordered pizza, and they both said they were not as good as before. I also paid more attention that kids meals do not come with sides. The sweet potato fries came, and they were topped with cinnamon/sugar??? We'd had the sweet potato fries before, and they were simply salted. I asked the server if they were supposed to have cinnamon and sugar on them, and she said, "sorry. Yeah." The steamed broccoli was completely unseasoned (I steam broccoli all the time, it is easy to toss it with some salt and pepper), and the Gluten Free pizza was loaded with way to much cheese and very sparse on the onions and chicken. The crust was grainy instead of crisp as it had been before. My husband ordered an import beer, which arrived warm and somewhat flat. I would like to add that we did arrive around dinner time, and there were mostly empty tables, so I'm not sure why the food was not as good as before. All we know is we are not going back. Other peeves to note, and this is my personal opinion: It's time to get on board with eco-conscious options: the kids' drinks came in large styrofoam cups, and we saw that the takeout containers are also styrofoam.
