BBQ platter

Update from a November 2023 visit: I had initial given Firehawk a 2 star rating, as the service was poor and items were missing from my meal. I visited again, and they have greatly improved their service, although it was much less busy than the first visit. This time, a server took care of us throughout the visit, rather then dropping off a menu and disappearing. The food that we all ordered was the BBQ sampler, which I feel is a much better example of what the kitchen is capable of producing. The restrooms are family friendly, there's changing tables, and they are clean. The parking lot can fill up quickly, so anything that can be done for overflow parking would be appreciated. My only criticism is the beer - the CLT area has so many great breweries, so the bar is set high. I think the beer offerings are "unoffensive", but nothing stood out as truly exceptional. Overall, I think that Firehawk may have been a bit overwhelmed when they first opened, but I'm happy to see them improving. If they keep this up, I wouldn't hesitate to include them in my regular rotation of Mt. Holly restaurants.

Three ribs and cornbread! Fell off the bone. super good and filling. Comes with slaw and pickles, 12.99.

We waited a few months for this exciting new place to work a few kinks out and let me tell you, we have another gem here in our growing little town. We went for Sunday brunch. The ribs and pulled pork, slaw and cornbread was all delicious and very reasonable priced. I cant wait for cooler weather to enjoy the outside dining option, and we will definitely utilize the kayak launch this fall. Welcome Firehawk Brewpup! You are loved already!

Barely any meat on these Baby Back Ribs and TERRIBLE Mac & Cheese

I'm from the era where you have two options when ordering Ribs, a FULL RACK or a HALF RACK. Of course here in North Carolina they LOVE to nickel and dime customers so this place charges $15.00 for 3 skimpy bones, two slices of boring white bread, and in my case the worst Mac & Cheese I've ever had in my life! The catfish is slimy and overly battered accompanied by what tasted like refried fries (stale tasting) not good! I'm very good at predicting these things and I can guarantee that this place won't make it very long before they close their doors permanently. I mean they're located in a very tiny town where there isn't much and they're overpriced, bad combination. The ONLY thing that was good was their crushed ice and the Guava BBQ sauce which was not used since their BBQ isn't good. We went to The Smoke Pit in Gastonia the same day to fulfill our barbecue craving.

So, the place is new and has some kinks to Knox out.I loved the beer.the food however needs a bit of work. The flounder was ok, but had the skin left on and the tarter sauce was some dill sauce. My headband had the brisket and that was well ...not so good. The sauces were nice and like the variety.Look forward to trying them after they are open a bit

Wow! Super impressed on my first visit. Cue'bano was fall off the bone delicious. Collards full of flavor. Biggest, corn dog I have ever seen. Clean restrooms. They offer free diapers at the changing station. Best of all, Monica the bartender was a doll.

I made the mistake of getting wings for my meal. $13 for 6 wings in a little paper boat.

Super loud, could not hear dinner companions. Glad I can read lips. I got wings as my meal. Sounded good spicy Malaysian sauce. But they were neither Spicy nor ever near Malaysia !!! $13 for small paper boat with 6 little wings. I know prices have gone up but $2.16 a wing! Didn't even come with fries, my grand daughter felt sorry for my small meal and gave me her slaw. Husband got $5 loaded baked potato with small dab of sour cream and half slice of bacon, no butter or cheese. Waitress was very nice, said Kitchen was backed up . Took quite awhile to get food. Hopefully they will improve with time.

Helping people in need

Service- The place just opened so of course its not running like a top. The intial service was a little slow though everyone we spoke to was working hard, kind, and genuinly cared about providing good service. They were just a little understaffed. Once we put our order in food came out at a pretty good pace and service from that point on was awesome! I had 3 little boys with me and at the end they gave them all a free candy. Stuff like poprocks and fun dip. My kids were impressed! I was impressed with the staff over all even when you get perfect service somewhere you rarely see people who care and every one I spoke with gave me the impression they cared. Food- to start, everything I had was awesome. The food was great. If you are a BBQ fan like me, you hate cabinet smoker BBQ. Its servicable but not the real deal. This place has a bunch of portapit smokers in the back. You can tell BBQ WAS COOKED OVER COALS!! This is super rare these days. The sauces were the perfect types all Carolina regional types and a Guava one to mix it up, all were excellent. Cornbread was WOW good! Collards were unique but very good. If I had one compaint it would be that the meat portions are small. I got ribs and pulled pork and it was a good amount with both orders. Prices were good. We ate on Sunday and the menu was limited but my whole family loved what they ate. Beer- I had the Marzen. It had a kind of sweetness to it. It was a great beer though. They had several options for their in house beers. I dont really care about others at a place like this. Check out the sign where they offer free food as well to those in need. I love that. So Mount Holly, good peeps around here! Overall this is a good spot to eat in MH. And Lord knows we need more spots to eat that arent fast food here! Highly recommended!

Love this place - I need to come here more often! I've been here a decent number of times over the…read moreyears and realized I have never had a less-than-awesome experience. I've come as a Charlotte newbie, then became the one showing the place off to visitors, and in between I'll show up for a trivia night here and there. Staff here is my personal favorite- everyone is kind but not pushy or bothersome. They know the bar and the food menu.. I have asked what to order and fully gone along with their suggestions. Zero regrets. This is also a wonderful place to take friends or family visiting from out of town. My parents moved down here with me; just across the border in SC, but absolutely loved it here when I took them. They're boring and picky, and Wooden Robot somehow was exactly what they were looking for.

I love a place that lives their motto. "drink good beer, do good things"…read more The place: wide open with plenty of seating inside and out. I feel even if it's packed, there's still ample room to not feel like sardines. The food: delicious in all of their offerings. Fries were perfectly crisp and not oily. The hummus was well balanced and tasty. The beer: my initial only reason to visit. But tasting their offerings had me sold and ready to give them all my money. So here's why they live their motto. The cans we bought started leaking, we went back and asked if the leakage was a problem. They asked a few questions and profusely apologized and gave us two six packs of their beer with no charge. I tried to pay but they refused. They could have just said "sorry to hear" and sent us on our way but they made us whole. Plus, their code of conduct is awesome and should be a standard for all businesses. We're fans forever. Not only of their food and beer, but their values. Thank y'all so much!!

Even though the restaurant wasn't full, I still had to wait 10 minutes for a table. This didn't bother me, because it meant that they were organized enough to space out customers so there was no other bottlenecks during service. The space is rather plain, and very much looks like any restaurant connected with an activity center like. But it was clean and organized, so that's all that mattered. I got the hot honey chicken sandwich. It probably took less than 10 minutes to be prepared and served, which is very reasonable. The piece of chicken was crispy and well coated in glaze, and was probably much larger than the bun itself. It was balanced - I liked it. I got the onion rings at the recommendation of the server, and they were good too. Server was friendly and attentive enough. She topped up my drink without asking. Overall, I was happy with my meal. Sure, maybe it's a bit expensive, and you pay extra for the convenience, but after a very active morning, this meal was a hit.

There's plenty of outdoor seating available as well but it was pretty hot that afternoon. We started with a couple large pretzels and a variety of beers- I just had a prosecco though, so if beer isn't your thing, there are alternative options. For my entree, I ordered the pastrami sandwich and Mac and cheese. Other common orders included the salmon, donner bowl, schnitzel and sausage sampler. The food came out quickly and we all ate in relative silence which is a good indication of satisfaction! @azfitfoodfun
