I actually looked on Yelp to find out the daily special since I'm a regular here, and noticed the photos were so outdated and reviews were meh... which was confusing. I've come here for years, and the food is always great!! A few of my faves, the macaroni salad, pulled pork sandwich, chicken bowl with coconut rice or noodles, Caesar salad... my husband has had a few of the seafood dishes and he's never been disappointed either. The service is always excellent, everybody is nice, so welcoming right away, and the food is always incredibly fast. I mean, I'm able to come here on a 30 minute break, get my food and eat, and still have half of my break left. The outdoor patio, and inside seating is comfortable, clean, and well kept. We used to go here when they first opened and have not been in a longtime. Service was ok as they did not have many people in the restaurant and no line and now, we know why. So yesterday my husband said let's eat here it's a been a while, He ordered the Bowl with Brown Rice and Luau pork. I ordered the same except I chose island Noodles. My family is from Oahu, and this food was not good at all, let me tell you they give you very little pork in the bowl and it was not hot at all. Island noodle what the heck was that? To me it was angel hair plain pasta what a joke. I only ate the few bites of cold pork and couple bites of the spaghetti noodle they called Island noodles. Bill was Little over $40 with drinks and a small desert. We also ordered a small desert pineapple upside down cake. Now this was good $4.99 only we had that was any good. Also, I used the restroom, and the hand soap is horrible the smell lingers kind of smells like cheap hairspray. The gentleman that was there only came out when someone he knew came in, and he almost immediately began helping them until the woman pointed out that I had been standing there. Very irritating. Finding this restaurant was a bit of luck as we are seldom in this area, but had a doctor's appointment coming up after lunch and were hoping to find something fast, casual and original. This bright restaurant certainly fit that description! We were impressed by the Hawaiian feel and decor right from the start. We were welcomed so warmly by the young manager and his staff. He explained the menu and some of the options and also that Thursday was a discount day if you ordered a dish that featured chicken as the main protein, because it was Thursday. My partner chose a chicken bowl on a bed of coconut rice (12.99) and I chose the combination chicken breast and shredded luau pork plate (17.99) also with coconut rice, and a delightful mix of sautéed broccoli florets, diced zucchini, onion, and finally shredded carrots. There were four accompanying sauces to sample. I liked a combination of the spicy teriyaki with the pineapple teriyaki. The Sriracha was too hot for me because I'm a wimp when it comes to hot things, and I just didn't love their peanut sauce very much. I think the recipe could be reworked. But I liked that they offered peanut sauce as an option! They also served us a tasty Hawaiian style macaroni salad made with cavatappi pasta. Portions were large, and I love their presentation for dining in, especially the angled bowls. Even their take-home was in high-quality reusable plastic containers , showing the care they gave for even the smaller details. Dessert options include an individual pineapple upside down cake (4.99) and choice of large size chocolate chunk or salted caramel cookies (2.99). There was a serve yourself drink station. Because my partner had the chicken protein he was gifted a free drink. They have locations also in Simi Valley and in Ventura city. The Palmdale location has been opened already for 17 years! We plan to come back here again for certain the next time we're in Palmdale. Plenty of free parking as it's part of a large shopping area, but easily seen from the street. Over the years it seems like they've started skimping on ingredients though and the taste is NEVER consistent anymore. I get the pineapple chicken sandwich often and notice that the chicken is a very thinly sliced breast now... like they should probably rename it just a pineapple sandwich seeing as the chicken looks more like a garnish/filler than the main ingredient. I understand things are more expensive now and businesses look to cut costs where they can, but to pay $13 for a thin sliver of chicken on a sandwich that SOMETIMES tastes consistent to what it should is insane. read more

I have been going to this place since they opened. I have always ordered their chicken bowls with noodles. Today and to my surprise they changed their noodles and I hate them. I called to ask if they would be continuing to use these noodles and they told me yes that they had several complaints about the old noodles not absorbing the sauces. Well, these smaller spaghetti like noodles don't either. I actually don't think it is a "noodle" problem per say but a moisture problem. There is way too much water left on the noodles when they put it in the bowl to make your meal. This is what I think is inhibiting the sauce from absorbing. I am so bummed and probably wont go back because I am always a fan of noodle dishes over rice dishes. read more

So we popped in not know what to expect and the food was pretty darn good. It's not fine dining, definitely casual vibes. The staff was courteous and polite. It's a seat yourself leave you trash behind establishment but the place was spotless when we got there. It was quiet and we chose a booth and sat cozy. Now I know you are wondering about the food. Chicken, steak and shrimp was what we indulged in I went with friends. Combo of chicken and steak, two combos of steak and shrimp. We chose the Thai peanut sauce and the jerk sauce. It was fabulous!! Not sure if I was being scammed or if the system just wasn't working. I went in today on 1/29 around 5:10ish. I got a bowl and had a gift card that I had planned to use to help pay for my bowl. I even made sure to check the balance before going in and it had $7 Well the worker scanned it and it wasn't working, and I was like oh I thought it had like $7 on it. And she was like, let me try again. Tried scanning it and it still didn't go through. And she went to go put the card down on the counter and I kind of stuck my hand out so she could give me back the card and then she was like hmm let me try entering it manually. She does that, and still doesn't work. She puts my card down on counter and hands me my food after I pay. And I was like oh like can I have the card back. She didn't even ask if I wanted it back so that's why I'm a little suspicious that maybe she was just trying to keep it for herself? I went right back to my car and checked the card balance again and it says $7 available. So not really sure what happened, if it was the system or the girl trying to keep my gift card for herself. I came in when the restaurant was nearly empty just one person in front of me and no one behind. The service was excellent: friendly, attentive, and quick. Definitely a highlight of the visit. I asked about their tropical rice and was told it was made with coconut milk and included black beans, which sounded great. I ordered the steak and chicken with pineapple teriyaki sauce, which came with vegetables and a side of their mango pasta salad. The vegetables were surprisingly good clearly fresh, not frozen, and cooked perfectly with a nice crunch. I ate all of them. The mango pasta salad, on the other hand, was a letdown. It was drowning in mayonnaise, with no mango flavor or visible mango pieces. Given the name, I expected something fruitier or lighter, but it tasted like plain pasta in heavy mayo. The rice didn't deliver either. I couldn't taste any coconut milk, seasoning, or much flavor at all it reminded me of plain Minute Maid Rice in a bag. As for the steak and chicken, both were a bit dry. I stopped eating after a couple of bites. The pineapple teriyaki sauce just tasted like standard teriyaki no pineapple flavor to speak of, which was disappointing. For a $24 plate, I expected more. Based on this experience, I wouldn't recommend it. If you're craving something similar, I'd suggest checking out one of the Hawaiian food spots in the area instead. read more

Now! I eyed this place for the longest time ! I finally tried it and was blown away by the flavor that was running through this bowl. I ordered through door dash and it came fast and extremely fresh. I was amazed by the steak and the rice ! I got it with a side of the spicy pineapple teriyaki sauce and maaaaan I have to order another bowl because this place was incredible! I may need to go inside and try it out because there was a salad that was looking REAL good on the menu ! I found this wonderful and delectable restaurant on yelp. I went on a search for something healthier than the usual fast food selections and Fire Island was the closest in proximity. When I entered the restaurant the first thing I noticed was how clean the dining area was. The ambiance was relaxing, dim lights and soft music. I told the Chef "Andres" that is was my first time in and that I noticed them on yelp. He asked what was it that attracted me and I showed him a photo of the meal that I seen in the reviews. He quickly identified it and proceeded to give me the choices I had. I went with the Surf 'n Turf platter. It was delicious! Good portions of protein and veggies. He educated me on the coconut rice, which was amazing! When it came to the sauces, he gave me the choices and when I looked unsure, he suggested that I try all 4 which was Awesome!
