Great service and good food. Wonderful happy hour menu! My coworker and I loved this place!

So there's this hidden gem in Hershey... it's located at the Hershey Lodge and Convention center across from the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. There are signs for other establishments inside the lodge, such as The Hershey Grill, The Forebay, and The Bear's Den but we were unable to find any signage for Fire & Grain. That was kind of confusing so please note that parking and entering the main entrance/registration will take you right to it. It was like trying to find a needle in a stack of needles, hence the 4 star rating. Upon entering you will soon find out that this far from my 4 star rating.... it's more like a 5+! Beautiful restaurant, beautiful decor, great service and attentiveness, and the food?... the food was to die for! It's a little pricey, definitely a special occasion type place yet... their happy hour specials will make you want to come back week after week. You can literally dine on their appetizers. They're so delicious and filling. The quality and presentation given to a meatball or a potato wedge will have you feeling like royalty. Kudos to the chef!! After waiting for a pretty long time for our server to greet us our expectations started low but the steak braised short ribs small plate and shrimp small plate were all hits. My family dined here since we're staying at the Hershey Lodge, and the highlights of our meal were that the food came out quick and our server Michelle was great! She was attentive, friendly, and had good suggestions when my sister didn't know what to order. I got the gemelli bolognese and it was pretty good, my niece got the linguine and meatballs, and my sister got the linguine primavera (they both also enjoyed their meals). My favorite thing about this place is the happy hour menu..honestly probably the best one around Hershey! My friends and I always keep it in rotation. Food is decent (good options for happy hour). Service is relatively quick and servers are nice. The place is conveniently located in the hotel across the street from the hospital. May need to wait a bit for a table though. I had to take a star out from my previous review due to the total lack of organization of the restaurant's concierge. The man was completely flustered and snippy at costumers. We stayed this past weekend at the hotel and made reservations 10 days prior. They had nothing ready for us, the concierge was rude and unprofessional as well. So here you are trying to surprise your grandfather for his 70th birthday and this people don't give a shit about it. The food was outstanding as usual; they have a great chef and cooking staff indeed. We also got a great waitress which soften the inicial blow of having to deal with them pulling tables from everywhere for 14 guests while we stand there. If I had to pick a negative I'd say I wish the desserts were a little more "Hershey" considering where we are. But it was a fun night. [454] We visited this restaurant twice for the buffet. The décor is really nice and well thought out. Even hubby mentioned the sprinkler system was evenly placed in each tile which means even the smallest detail was thought of. The booths are long and roomy which is prefect for parties of 6. There are 4 different stations for the buffet which helps the place not feel crowded. The food was tasty. The buffet also comes with omelets from the kitchen. Make sure you ask or read the menu. The first day we missed out. Luckily our waitress told us about it on the second day (like who reads the menu when you already know you want the buffet). We were able to enjoy a bunch of chocolate items for breakfast such as chocolate chips in our oatmeal, chocolate pastries and chocolate butter for our toast. Oh yeah and the chocolate milk of course. We really enjoyed our meal both days. When we come back we will definitely come here for breakfast. read more

I needed some "me" time after a long day at Hershey Park. It was almost 9pm when I came in for a drink and some dinner. It looked a bit fancy so I was surprisingly happy when they didn't turn me away for how I was dressed (I came straight from Waterworks water park and had a coverup). I ordered a glass of moscato and their linguini primavera. It was pretty good. Linguini was cooked al dente & the moscato relaxed me. The decor was clean & classy with semi dim lighting. I like how it looked classy but was casual enough for children. If we ever come back, I'll definitely come back! read more

I'm very sad to write this as we had high expectations. First we tried to make a reservation and were told there were none left for the time we wanted which okay fine whatever, but we got there and there were a bunch of open tables.. we got sat next to the biggest, noisiest table with screaming children and then proceeded to be ignored our entire meal. As someone who is in the food industry I try to be lenient and understanding but this experience was truly awful. We waited10 minutes for someone to come to our table to order drinks.. (we contemplated just getting up to leave.. which I wish we would've now). Drinks were not good and my friend didn't even drink hers. Food came out quickly thank god. However 21 dollars is outrageous for the smallest skimpiest charcuterie board I have ever seen/paid for. We finished our meal and proceeded to wait 45 minutes to get our check. We finally got it because I got up and asked the host to get our waitress who seemed to forget about us. Finally got our check, I dropped the card a second later.. waited 15 minutes before flagging down the manager to again get our waitress so we could just leave.... I get being overwhelmed with tables but this was next level horrible. Managers should be helping and surveying to make sure the guests are happy! We won't be back. read more

While staying at the Hershey Lodge for a weekend with our friends and their kids, we ate here twice, once for dinner and then for its breakfast buffet. One thing you'll notice is that it's loud, this place was meant for families with kids. The great thing about it is that if you have kids, you don't feel self-conscious about having your kid yelling and telling potty jokes. I ordered the crab flatbread and the Prince Edwards Mussels, nothing to complain about, both of them were solid dishes. I was happy that there was such a variety of dishes to choose from at a family restaurant. The waitress was accommodating and on the ball. Overall, it was a good dinner meal for the family, therefore, it was an easy choice to hit the breakfast buffet. This restaurant is convenient if you are staying at the Hershey lodge, it looks nice and the staff is attentive. We dined here last night and the food is underwhelming, they have a good beer selection on tap. I planned to have a cocktail with dessert , but free the problems with dinner we left without dessert. We woke up at 3 am with sick stomachs. Something wasn't right with our meal. The kids meals were served with cold macaroni which we sent back and was quickly replaced. Then our salad came out all yellow and gross, we should have sent that back too but I always feel embarrassed if we've already had a problem, which is stupid and I'll never make that mistake again. I was SO impressed with Fire & Grain during my stay at the Hershey Lodge. I had low expectations at first because I was expecting sub par, expensive hotel food. I was definitely proved wrong! My friend and I ran to the bar for the 4-6 happy hour. All cocktails were $7 so we had to try a chocolate martini. We were in chocolate world after all. We were promptly served and our martinis were tasty and strong! We moved to a table for some food and were greeted by the nicest server ever. I wish I could remember his name. It was literally 5:59 and I asked him for another drink during the happy hour. He kindly put in our order with no problem! I wasn't starving so I ordered the mussels as an appetizer and they were EXCELLENT. I highly recommend!!! I had to be a pain yet again with our waiter when I asked for the beet salad served with arugula instead of kale. Again... my request was approved with no hesitation! We arrived early for a YELP event so sat at the bar for a drink during Happy hour. My beer was cold and tasted wonderful and the house wine was very tasty. The food sampling was a fabulous mixture to give a wide variety of flavors. We also added dessert..the apple pie. YUM! Hot, fresh and made to order. Desserts are definitely proportioned to share. I do really love it there; and I hope they are open for Easter! As for expense --Nothing is cheap for a family anymore --not even Mc D--- But I do get sometimes a plate so full I can take half along home. I worked there in the Lodge and I know the food is safe and fresh and the servers are kind. And dont forget this Restaurant is in a Hotel so you may not be able to park right up front so I always parkon the South side of the building --go in the double doors and stroll thru the Foyer. Hang --I may even stop in the Gift Shop that I pass . There is a Bar there and a place to relax . So please --if you can fine good food for less please dont hesitate to tell me. This place is a pretty solid place for happy hour if you're in a pinch or near the hospital. It's rampaged by tourists in the summer so despite all the huge parking spaces, it's actually a sham. You might end up parking quite far away.... They're happy hour I believe goes from 4-6. Their happy hour food is half priced and is a pretty solid deal. Off their happy hour menu, I tried their BBQ flatbread, Blueberry Mojito, prosciutto & fig flatbread, and mac & cheese. For food, BBQ flatbread was the most filling and the prosciutto & fig was good but felt like eating bread with salad on top. Mac & cheese was a tiny portion but was pretty rich. Their blueberry mojito takes the price for being extremely fresh with the mint and great for a hot summer day. Overall I think this place is a pretty safe bet as long as you can avoid all the crazy Hershey park tourists. read more

Saturday. 6:30pm. Got seated right away, all of the staff is very friendly. Not a big crowd. The wooden decor fits well with the Lodge vibes. On to the food: Starter: Buffalo chicken meatballs= Amazeballs. Not too spicey, came on a bed of a yellow/ cheese flavor type of mash potato. (Not mentioned on menu). But it was a tasty surprise. Very nice small plates tonight. Flatbreads were wonderful, especially the fig and prosciutto. The salad of beet, goat cheese, fennel, farro and kale was amazingly complex, a huge step forward from the typical beet and goat cheese salads that have been seemingly on every restaurant menu for years. Happy Hour at Fire & Grain is on fire (on pun intended)! Believe it or not, they have happy hour every day of the week! My boyfriend and I made reservations for a Saturday evening and soaked up all the deals. For Happy Hour, they have $7 signature cocktails and half off all appetizers (starters, toasts, flatbreads, and meat & cheese plates) We each ordered a $7 cocktail, which were delicious and strong! You don't need more than one! We split various appetizers including the braised short rib with crispy potatoes, buffalo chicken meatballs, and the prosciutto & fig flatbread. I particularly liked the prosciutto & fit flatbread because the flavors of the meat and fruit complemented well and the balsamic glaze and arugula added an extra touch! We enjoyed dinner and breakfast here during our Hershey trip this year. I forgot to get pictures of our dinner but the braised short rib was delicious and I would definitely order it again. My fiancé got the seafood skillet and enjoyed it but said it was too small. The kids loved their hot dogs and macaroni and cheese. I think we enjoyed our breakfast even more than our dinner. My frittata was great and the little chocolate muffin was a cute touch. The fruit platter was delicious and such a great option that most places don't offer. And of course the chocolate chip pancakes were great. Our server even went next door to get me my latte since they don't offer them there. The restaurant does not have a sign outside if the hotel so I drove around the enormous building twice until I figured out from a phone call which door to go in. Go past the main desk where the check in station and concierge are located and you will find Fore and Grain. There is a fancy wall of fire to catch your attention upon entry. The view from the window is mostly parking lot so not exactly breathtaking. The cocktail list is a nice mix. A few items are chocolate but there are various craft cocktails offered also. We opted for flatbreads and later had an indoor s'mores dessert. Like most things in Hershey, the dessert sounds good in theory but was so sweet it made my teeth hurt so after seven bites I was done. Would I go again? I would if I was in the neighborhood but I would not make a special trip. read more

We got there in time for the happy hour (half priced drinks and some apps 4-6.) The traditional meatballs were not good. Again, under seasoned and it came cold. We also got the mushroom and truffle oil flatbread which was okay but came cold as well. For the main; I got the seafood pappadelle. The pasta was stuck together, some pieces over cooked some under. The almost non existent crab was shredded, scallops were small and over cooked and the broth was flavorless. My husband and daughter got the short rib. My daughter liked it, my husband was not satisfied and said the meat was under seasoned. My other daughter got the salmon, which she enjoyed. However, she almost choked on the asparagus (which she substituted) as it was stringy and hard. I can't understand the great reviews. We were excited to try it but wouldn't go back if we stay at the lodge again. Happy hour drinks were the best thing. Chocolate martini was tasty as was my husbands mojito. Fyi, we also did the breakfast package for 2 days. It was buffet style in Fire and Grain. The wait was long the second day we went. The food options are minimal and not worth the price once again. Disgusting bagged egg substitute, fatty bacon, potatoes, pancakes, sausage, mini danish and croissants, bread for tasting, yogurt, cereal and oatmeal. I had dinner here for our wedding anniversary. I love having an anniversary dinner in one of these Hershey restaurants because they always make it special. Fire & Grain didn't exactly do that (Love when they write Happy Anniversary in Chocolate). Can't win them all. LOL What WAS a win last night, though, was our food. They know what they're doing here. The food is well done and the portions are huge. You won't leave hungry - that's for sure! We started with the mussels and OMG were they good. The broth they came in is what made them. Plus they had chicken sausage and tomatoes. It was just such a flavorful and well rounded dish. For the entree I tried the New York strip which was flavorful and served with mushrooms and crispy potato wedges which were super good and super crispy. We opted out of dessert and had second drinks instead but the dessert menu looked amazing. I just couldn't fit it in. The atmosphere with the fire and open kitchen is nice but the seating area is very diner-esque. Not exactly the setting for romance. Maybe that's why we don't get the Happy Anniversary in chocolate like we do at the other restaurants here in the lodge or at the hotel. But I don't care. The food takes it. I'd sit in a "diner" and eat this anyday over something fancier that lacks in flavor. read more

I really enjoyed dinner here on a Saturday evening! The small plates were a perfect portion and I loved the grilled shrimp. The pumpkin cannoli dessert with caramel and bacon was also crazy good! If you ask me where was my favorite place to eat at the Hershey Lodge, I'd say hands down it was Fire & Grain. We stayed 4 Days, ate here 3 times. Twice for breakfast and once for dinner. The sit down breakfast was fantastic. I still have dreams about the cinnamon French toast. Trust me and order it. The rude blond bartender and mediocre food that she gave me in a to go bag (without asking for it to go) because it was 10:30 and they closed at 11:00 makes it easy to recommend you avoid this place at all costs. Oh and the scallops were gray and not edible. Seems like most people who have given this place good reviews consider McDonalds dining out. read more

Not unusual for spring break but obviously unprepared. However there. We're many tables open and when I inquired with the hostess there who looked and acted very immature she was nonchalant and dismissive. Gave another try the next night. Nice male hostess but the waitress was dreadful. She rarely came to our table gave misinformation on a couple menu items then grossly overcharged for the meal I had to see the manager who wasn't apologetic or much better. The food wasn't bad in fact I would give it more stars but for an expensive hotel stay and this calibre restaurant you just expect more professional people. I was very impressed tonight by my experience at Fire and Grain in the Hershey Lodge! Service was very friendly and you can tell they are very proud of the food they are serving there. I ordered a signature cocktail, the Black Walnut Old Fashioned and it was very yummy. To eat I had a variety of small plates which were all very tasty including a red beet salad, braised short rib with crispy potatoes, Buffalo chicken meatballs and a few flatbread pizzas. Everything was very very good - so much that I went back for seconds. In addition we ordered shrimp scampi with a side of salmon take home for our babysitter and she was raving about how good it was even after riding around in a car.
