I try to buy my boots when in Italy but my last trip just didn't allow for enough time to shop as I had planned. Yesterday I walked from my home down to the Abbott Kinny location, prompted by the good reviews. What a disappointment. The clerk, who had been outside when I arrived, walked past without a greeting and settled into a corner desk area. I walked the shop noting a few pair that might work for what I had in mind. I first heard about this brand when someone identified the exact style of boots worn by Elizabeth Olsen as Scarlet Witch in Captain America: Civil War when she fights Crossbones in the first scene of the film. The boots were a unique style and I loved reading the history of the brand and why they're different from other boot brands. I almost bought a pair online via another retailer, but saw many reviews recommending you go to a retailer and try the shoe on in person. (Sizing can vary based on each style, as the boots are handcrafted.) I visited the shop around Thanksgiving which wasn't too busy. Parking was a bit of a challenge, but we eventually located a spot behind some restaurants and were able to walk to the shop. (It's in a cute part of town with these trendy boutiques and restaurants, which is fun to walk around in.) The staff were friendly and happy to answer any questions. They were helping a few people with some choices and I asked one girl about the Nena (which is the style mentioned above) in my normal boot size. She brought them out and had me try them on, along with the next size down. I was glad I came in to try them since my normal 7 was huge and too clunky to wear with the right socks. I went down a half size and was glad I did. I did have to walk away to think about them but came back the same day to purchase them. They're not cheap boots but they're worth every penny. Very soft leather, sturdy soles, and very easy to coordinate with outfits. I've gotten many compliments on them. Also they're surprisingly easy for me to walk in and are comfortable. (I'm usually wearing flat shoes because I'm terrible in high heels but these may be my favorite boots I own.) Valentina, the gal who waited on me, was wonderful. Very knowledgeable about the brand and had some good recommendations for styling. She was wearing a pair of the brand's boots with a cute overalls jumper and explained that she had them for a long time and they're her go to. When you buy a pair of boots, they give you a large fabric tote to carry the box in. It may be a while before I make another purchase from here, but if I was in the market for another pair of boots, I'd come here. read more

Now if they could just open one of these up in San Francisco... I'm a big fan of Florentini and Baker, they have great Italian shoes and boots especially for men. I have bought several pairs over the years and they hold up really well. While I didn't buy any this time (no room in my closet at the moment), I may succumb next time I'm in LA. read more

There's nothing quite like Fiorentini+Baker. I love my Ella boots. They're not only beautiful and well-crafted, they are ridiculously comfortable. Bought them a year ago at Madison LA; sadly, the zipper's been giving me some trouble (it won't stay up--so, uh, maybe they're not the MOST well-crafted, although I've been known to have bad zipper karma. I blame that). I was all set to write an email to the company asking what to do. I was both happy and terrified to learn that a Fiorentini+Baker had opened, somewhat recently, in Venice. These boots (they also have sandals and brogues) are not cheap. But they're so cool, once you've got them on you never want to take them off. No matter what you're wearing, the boots define the outfit. And they better at $500 a pop (this is why I'm scared). So I emailed the store about my zipper situation, and Jami wrote back immediately letting me know they sold the F+B zippers for $10 each. (I've got a guy in Ktown who fixes shoes, but I didn't want any old zipper.) I purposely went there with a time constraint so I wouldn't be tempted to browse and try on stuff, but my eyes darted all over, and my nose twitched at the sumptuous scent of the fine Italian leather. I've been wearing Fiorentin + Baker boots for the past 25 years. These are by far the best boots in the world! I am not exaggerating. They last forever and only get more beautiful with time. I have my favorite styles in different colors. They never get out of style and besides their classics, every year they come out with new styles that I have a hard time to resist :) I am so happy that they opened this store in Venice a few years ago. I used to live in NYC and after moving here I was anxiously waiting for them to open a store here. SUPER STORE-SUPER BOOTS-SUPER STAFF!!!!! This place is unbelievable. I love Fiorentini+Baker. They have quality shoes and boots from Italy for both men and women. They sell at only the High-End stores and boutiques,(Barneys etc), and now they have opened a flagship store in Los Angeles on Trendy Abbott Kenney in Venice. My wife and I walked in to the new store about a year ago and met the manager Valentina. A delightful, right out of Italy, little cutie. She knows her stuff and she was the best. She treated us like family and called New York and sent emails and went the extra mile to find exactly what we wanted. She was such a pleasure to deal with and we have been back several times since and always the same pleasant helpful attitude. Her staff is amazing too, we went there last night because she had sent us an email telling us that the new fall boots came in and we met her and her assistant sales manager Jami, who was also so friendly and helpful. There have been very few times in my life that I have written a yelp review, but my most recent experience at Fiorentini and Baker has inspired me to do so. Not only am I in love with my new hand crafted leather boots, I am also in love with the employees at the Abbot Kinney store. Jami was so sweet and so helpful. As opposed to other stores on the street, she made me feel welcome and comfortable. I wasn't sure going in if I was going to make a purchase, but I'm happy Jami assisted me in making the right decision. She seemed to have an extensive knowledge of each pair of shoes... I had a great experience in this store! I walked in and was greeted by Jami, the Asst Store Manager. She asked if I was looking for something and I explained what type of boot I was looking for. She listened intently to my detailed requirements and gave me 3 options, 2 of which I would have walked out of the store with, if I didn't have a budget. The boots I tried on were comfortable, cool, and edgy. All the boots I tried would have aged gracefully with normal wear and tear. Jami even helped me narrow the choice to 1 pair based on the colors I generally wear. Walked out of the store with less money but I have no regrets... HIGH QUALITY BOOTS AND GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE My wife and I wandered in on Friday night near closing and Jami (the assistant store Manager) was extremely patient and very knowledgeable in helping me find a pair of boots that I bought (and love!). My wife also found something that she liked but we told Jami we'd be back and she didn't push us at all and told us she'd be there if/when we returned. When we returned on Sunday, she remembered us and the shoes my wife was interested in and after mulling it over some more (and trying on many other pairs of beautiful boots) she bought the ones she liked on Friday night.
