This is always a must see shopping destination for my friends visiting from out of town who love western wear. It's in the heart of beautiful Sunset Plaza. It's one store that has only gotten better over the years. The displays are fantastic and they have the most amazing selection of cowboy boots and sterling silver/turquoise jewelry, suede jackets, vests, and all kinds of unique southwestern items. For men and women. The styles range from classic to totally unique. Superb quality. The prices are on the high side, but there is the convenience of being able to find a curated western store like this right in the middle of West Hollywood (you don't have to drive to Phoenix) plus their selection and taste is impeccable. They even have boots with rollerskates on them! It's really a fantastic store and the people who work here are very welcoming and knowledgeable about the merchandise. They have tons of free parking in back. Definitely worth a visit and if you do get something here it's going to be high quality, very unique, long lasting and very wearable as well. I asked one of the store employees how much they would sell the cowboy boot skates for and they said $1,000. What a joke. Anyone can have those made elsewhere for less than half that price. Leave it to Sunset to attempt to rip people off. I don't know why I just randomly thought of that right now. Sometimes the random ripoffs of LA just cross my mind. Anyway, don't pay that. If you want rollerskate boots there are plenty of other places to go, mostly in Long Beach area. read more

BOOT STAR in my opinion, is the best western boot shop I've ever been in. They recently moved down the street to much larger and cooler store on Sunset Plaza....with free parking in back (very good) I wanted a discontinued Old Gringo style called Diaz. I've been looking for a used pair of them on e-Bay and Google for more than 10 yrs. I actually stopped in to see if they sold used boots and Scott asked me what I was looking for and when I told him, he said he could get those made for me, to my specifications and at a fair price. I was like, no way! He assured me he could and so I put down a deposit and waited. I got em the day before Christmas. I cant believe it.....they're perfect! I wanted them to be ankle boots because the jeans are too tight at the bottom these days for tall boots. I also wanted them distressed looking .. and Scott recommended making the toe a little shorter; which was a good idea because I'm not that tall, so it's more proportionate for me. I havent taken them off since I got them and they're finally broke in and so comfortable. I liked them so much I ordered them in another color and I might even order them in another color too. They have the best variety of brands and styles and if you're not 100% sure about what you want , customize them. Scott & his wife Chris know boots. You can say I want that toe, that heel, that color and they say no problem. They also have great hats, belts and shirts. Men & women. Stop in and check it out and their beautiful dogs too. read more

Discovered Boot Star and immediately fell in love with the aesthetic of the store and the quality of the product. Tried on a bunch of boots and found a pair that I loved, unfortunately didn't have my size. No problem, Chrissy helped me do a special order that was just delivered. SO worth the wait. These boots are amazing and super high quality. PS. On the hunt for baby-pink cowboy boots to wear to a wedding. Stopped in Boot Star, yesterday, with my husband. It is off the Sunset strip so traffic/parking in the area is a little rough. We parked on a side street and walked down the hill only to discover there is a teensy parking lot in front where one may be lucky enough to get one of the 3-4 spots. We entered the store, gave ourselves a tour of what they had, I didn't see any pink boots and the people working there did not make themselves known until we were leaving and they said "have a good day". I was a little disappointed at the lack of trying. A store full of beautiful boots! I've driven by Boot Star probably a thousand times and never gone in until this weekend. While I do have a pair of cowboy boots, I save them for western themed parties. I went in to have a pair of boots stretched and I have to say I am seriously considering ordering a custom pair of "cowboy" boots. I put cowboy in parentheses because I would have mine with a round toe so that they'd look less western and more LA... I love that for a custom pair they'll measure your feet, legs, etc so that the boots will fit like a glove. You can really see the quality in the boots they have. Great materials and really nice leather. I seriously doubt I'd get boots elsewhere, especially because for roughly the same price, you can get a pair that will last you over a decade. read more

Boyfriend has been obsessed with finding the perfect pair of cowboy boots for the last two weeks. Every time I see him on the iPhone or computer, he's looking at boots. That search finally ended this afternoon. Walking into this store can be a little intimidating, okay WAY intimidating. There are a lot of high-end, good quality boots here. Everything is either made in the U.S. or Mexico. The service at first felt a little cold, but once you start trying stuff on these guys are awesome. Very knowledgeable and very helpful. Boyfriend walked away with his dream pair of boots and I managed to snag a pair myself. Found a pair of Frye boots on sale for $199. Online they sell for $325. I was a little hesitant at first because one boot seemed a little darker than the other. Turns out they put a little mink oil and it evened out well. Javier even helped pull the boot off for me :) Highly recommended if you're looking for high quality stuff. Did I mention there's free parking behind the store? I wanted to get Jonnie a spiffy pair of cowboy boots for Christmas, so Patriot (our pup) & I decided to pop on in one weekend. I had been looking for a cool pair of vintage cowboy boots for quite some time when I happened upon this little shop. It is hidden in a ghetto, er um, not-very-alluring strip mall on Sunset strip and I would have missed had it not been for the botched U-turn I needed to make. Inside the unpretentious western boot store had walls lined with gorgeous handmade cowboy boots. Hand painted, snake skin, armadillo, stingray, embroidered, and just about anything else you would want to find in a cowboy boot. The store attendant was very helpful and non pushy. I was headed towards the airport, so I was dressed in some laid back nike fitness pants and plain T-shirt which is often an easy way to visually signal a store clerk to ignore you unless of course you are accompanied by a couple body-guards and insist on wearing your sunglasses in the dimly lit boutique. Nevertheless the guy working here was very nice and helpful. I found a beautiful pair of boots, and a couple cool belts. I got to tell you, I have not always been a boot guy. But when I went into Boot Star, I was really surprised. The stereotype cowboy boots - these were not. I'm on my 5th pair from Boot Star now. I have boots for casual with jeans and boots that go with my suit. I have screaming boots and suttle boots. The amazing thing is boots are not the most comfortable footware I own! Xavier at the Hollywood store is great. Don'e be surprised if you run into a celeberity...Billy Gibbons was pick'in a tune when I was up there (they keep a guitar for him handy for when he stops by).
